Chapter 34

"Here Sky Sky." Brittany smiled, handing the baby two Apple wedges, the baby reaching for them right away with a big smile.

"Thank." Skylar smiled, taking a bite of one of the apples while staring at the other as she slowly chewed. She was sitting to the side in the living room of the new house on a blanket, Brittany's IPad playing a cartoon for her. Brittany kissed the top of her head and rubbed her legs before standing up as some delivery men carried in the new TVs and surround systems she bought for the living room, and for their bedroom, a surprise gift for Santana. Skylar stood up and stared at the men with a frown, before walking towards them.

"Sit back down." Brittany told her. "Momma doesn't want you to get hurt. Watch your cartoon, baby."

Skylar sat back down quickly, taking another bite of her apple and carefully watching Brittany. She set her apple slice on her pants leg and lifted it, frowning it at the wet stain it left on her overalls. "No." She yelled at her leg angrily, trying to wipe it off, chewing angrily as she took another bite.

"Okay, I want the TV over the fireplace right here." Brittany pointed, the sound bar underneath it on the wall, and the speakers wherever you think best on the walls." The men nodded that they could do it for her. She then went and sat on the floor next to Skylar. "You like apples?"

"Momma." Skylar held up an apple slice to Brittany's mouth, blushing when the blonde took a bite and lifted her in her lap, watching the cartoon with her, but still watching the geek squad from Best Buy.

"Mami?" Skylar asked suddenly. It had been two days since Santana went back to New York to get Taylor and the rest of their things packed up and sent to Phoenix to finalize the move. Skylar loved being with Brittany and hadn't asked about the Latina at all surprisingly. She would excitedly smile and talk to Santana on Skype every morning and every night, but other than that, she hadn't brought her up. She did, however, bring up Taylor constantly.

"You want your Mami?" Brittany asked her with a smile, Skylar nodding quickly. "She comes tomorrow with Taylor."

"Morrow?"

"Si, Mami and Taylor come tomorrow." Brittany replied.

Skylar laughed happily, kicking her legs, before turning back to the screen. Brittany lifted her phone and went over some of the furniture ideas Santana emailed her. After a long talk on the phone last night they decided to get new living room furniture, they were still unsure of a color scheme so they sent each other mock living rooms they found on Pinterest all day, each giving their opinion.

"We have to go grocery shopping today." Brittany told Skylar, who shook her head angrily.

"No shop." The baby said sternly.

"You don't want your grapes?" Brittany asked her.

"No gwapes."

"Well, what are we going to eat?" Brittany laughed.

Skylar frowned before smiling brightly. "Cookie!"

"Hmmm, we'll get a cookie later."

"Cookie morrow?"

"Yes, we'll get cookies tomorrow with Mami and Taylor." Brittany nodded.

She watched another cartoon with Skylar, leaning back on her chest while eating her snack as the workers finished setting up the electronics in the living room. Brittany looked around the space, nodding in approval as Skylar ran around her legs playing and laughing.

"Let's go check out momma's room, they finished painting yesterday. Let's see how the TV looks all hooked up" Brittany suggested. She picked up the baby and put a mask on her, covering her mouth and nose, not wanting her to inhale the fumes.

"No." Skylar shook her head angrily trying to take it off.

"Leave it on Sky Sky, just for a few minutes." Brittany told her, rubbing her back as they walked up the stairs. She quickly looked around the master bedroom, happy with the work and knew that Santana would approve as well. Skylar leaned on Brittany's shoulder and sighed, her big brown eyes looking all over the room. Brittany kissed the top of her head while walking out on the balcony and looking in the yard. She saw Skylar start to pull her mask off again and lifted it for her since they were outside. "You see your swings?" She asked the baby, pointing to the play set in the yard.

3pm New York

"So her rash seems to be spreading." Santana told the doctor, mainly on her arms, but I noticed it's spreading up her thighs as well." She pointed to Taylor's arms. "Don't scratch, baby." She said softly to her.

"Hmmmm, is it itching or does it feel like burning, Taylor?" The doctor asked, holding her arm and looking closely at it.

"Itching, but um, sometimes if my shirt rubs on it too much it burns, and that doesn't feel too good." Taylor frowned, looking up at Santana, who winked at her, proud of how she explained it.

"I'm going to give her a stronger prescription for her ointment, and give a prescription for an antibiotic." The doctor told Santana. "Dr. Lopez, would you like me to give her a shot to help with comfort, or wait for the prescription?"

Santana looked at Taylor, who shook her head no quickly, not wanting to get another shot. She thought for a few minutes before shaking her head as well. "If the shot isn't absolutely necessary let's just go with the antibiotic and the ointment."

The doctor nodded and emailed Taylor's prescription to the pharmacy. "Taylor, you can get dressed again honey." The doctor nodded before leaving the room to give her privacy.

Santana lifted her off the table and began to hand her clothes to her, folding up the paper dress she had on. "Good thinking wearing your sweats today, Tay, your jeans will rub on your rash."

"Tomorrow we'll be in Phoenix, right?" Taylor asked, holding on to Santana's shoulders while stepping into her sweats, Santana pulling them up carefully so she didn't scrape her rash and irritate it.

"Yep."

"Can I wear shorts?" Taylor asked, zipping up her hoodie, and sitting on the floor to put her Uggs back on.

Santana shrugged. "That's up to you honey, if you are comfortable enough with your rash you can, but if you aren't and want to wait until it goes away, which should take a few days, you can wear joggers or jeans, once we start putting on the ointment it'll feel better and with the medicine it should clear up quickly."

"Okay, I like Dr. Molly, do I have to get a new one in Phoenix?" She asked, putting her coat on.

"Not right away, we are just going to have to fly back and forth for you and Sky's appointments until I find doctors for us. I'll schedule your appointments the same day or super close so we can come back as a family for a day or two." Santana told her, grabbing her purse and looking around, making sure Taylor had everything.

After stopping and making an appointment for a 3 month check up at the front desk, Santana grabbed Taylor's hand as they walked back out into the blizzard and jogged to the truck. "Okay, Tay?" Santana asked, as she let her G Wagon warm up.

"Yeah, I'm okay." Taylor nodded, putting her seatbelt on.

"Okay, let me brush off the car, then we can go." Santana told her, turning on the radio for her and hopping out, quickly brushing off her car. "Won't miss this shit at all." She groaned as she scraped the windshield.

Ten minutes later Santana hopped back in, turning the heat up to warm up quickly.

"Pizza for dinner Tay, or do you want to go to Qdoba?"

Taylor thought for a minute. "Qdoba."

"Okay." Santana finally pulled off from the parking lot and headed towards Qdoba.

"Ready to head to Phoenix tomorrow and be back with momma and Skylar?"

"Yep, I miss Sky so much!" Taylor nodded quickly. "I have so much stuff to tell her." She blushed. "And I can't wait to hug momma and have a big cuddle movie party."

"You know she misses you so much, Tay, right?" Santana asked, wanting to keep reinforcing that Brittany missed her and was busy working.

"Yeah, I know, momma wants to be with us but she has to work, just like the times you have to leave super early or super late to go save someone." Taylor smiled. "I understand."

"You are so awesome." Santana winked at her through the rearview mirror. "Can we Skype momma and Sky during dinner again?" Taylor asked.

"Of course." Santana replied.

10pm Phoenix

Brittany sat in the living room having a staring contest with Skylar, who was holding her feet, a scowl on her face. "It's bedtime, Sky."

"No." Skylar shook her head quickly, reaching for her Big Bird stuffed animal that was next to her and holding it tightly

"Momma has to do some work." Brittany told her. "So it's bedtime."

"No."

"Skylar." Brittany sighed. "I know you're tired, your eyes are red." Skylar frowned and covered her eyes, causing Brittany to laugh softly. "Can momma hold you so you go to sleep?"

Skylar peeped between her fingers and shrugged as Brittany crawled over to her daughter and lifted her in her lap, sliding her laptop closer to her. She kissed Skylar on the top of the head, the baby angrily wiping the kiss away and frowning. Brittany shifted Skylar so she was comfortable, she then soothingly rubbed her chest, knowing it would lull her to sleep.

"No."

"No." Brittany repeated as she started to rock her slowly side to side. "I know you're tired, and I know you don't want momma to work right now and to just hold you." She added. She glanced at her laptop, her email from work open, emails coming in every other minute. Looking down at Skylar, who was staring up at her, she closed her laptop and pushed it away.

"Momma is all yours." She smiled at her, standing up and walking to the bedroom. Skylar held on to her tightly, looking around with a frown, her bottom lip quivering when Brittany set her in the bed.

"No momma!" She cried loudly, reaching out for Brittany, who turned around quickly.

"Momma is just turning the light out, I'm coming to cuddle with you, baby." Brittany replied softly, keeping her voice steady, knowing it always calmed her daughter down. She slid in bed and rubbed Skylar's back, the baby melting into her embrace and exhaling. "See, momma is going to lay with you, we have a big day tomorrow, and I know you're tired." She rubbed Skylar's back, humming softly as Skylar started to drift to sleep. Brittany heard her cell phone start to ring with emails and reached over, turning her ringer off. "I'm busy with my Sky Sky." She whispered.

"Momma." Skylar mumbled.

"Yes, baby." Brittany replied.

Skylar didn't reply and instead wiggled closer to Brittany, holding her tighter.

"I'm not going anywhere." She replied, resting her lips to Skylar's forehead, leaving them there as she fell asleep herself. "Night night."

"Night night." Skylar mimicked after a few moments.

9am

Skylar sat on the couch, holding her one of her now 6 Big Birds stuffed animals that she owned, watching Brittany run around the condo, making sure she had all of their things packed up since they were going to the new house and would be finally spending the first night there.

"Sky's!" Skylar raised her Big Bird above her head before laughing when Brittany kissed Big Bird before picking up some folders she had on the counter. "Big Bird, that momma." Skylar told the stuffed animal, before throwing him down and reaching for another one.

Brittany raises her eyebrow at her daughter. "Be nice." She reminded Skylar, who shrugged at her, Brittany shaking her head and continuing to load her briefcase.

Once Brittany got everything packed up, she quickly loaded the few suitcases in the trunk of her car, having hired movers taking the majority of their belongings yesterday to the house, wanting to make the move that morning with Skylar as smooth as possible. She picked up Skylar, tickling her in the process. "Let's go get some pancakes and..."

"Cookie!" Skylar exclaimed.

"Cookies?" Brittany laughed. "For breakfast?"

"Si." Skylar nodded.

"Oh my God, you looked just like Santana when you said that." Brittany laughed loudly. "Grab Big Birds." She leaned down so Skylar could grab her two toys.

"Big Bird!" Skylar screeched, carefully picking both up before leaning on Brittany's shoulder, allowing her mother to carry her outside.

Once Brittany got her strapped in her car seat, Skylar studying her hands in her quest to figure out how to get herself out, she kissed all over her face, the baby blushing and laughing loudly.

"Pancake!" Skylar smiled, kicking her legs as Brittany started the car and pulled off into traffic.

"Pancake!" Brittany yelled with her, tapping the horn, which really excited the baby, just as her cell phone rang. Even though Brittany was off of work she told her assistant she could call her if it was extremely important. She glanced at Sky, who was happily looking out the window, holding her Big Bird tightly, occasionally talking to it, seemingly getting upset when it didn't respond.

"That Big Bird doesn't talk Sky," Brittany told her, ending her phone call. "Big Bird with the red shirt will talk to you." She reminded her daughter, who glared at the toy before shrugging, her new favorite thing to do. "Ready to get pancakes then wait for Mami and Tay?"

"My Tay!" Skylar nodded quickly, looking around for the miniature Big Bird she insisted Brittany buy, so she could give it to her big sister. She picked it up and stared at it with a big smile. "Tay."

"Yep, that's for your Tay." Brittany replied, pulling into the parking lot of the diner. "Is Big Bird coming to breakfast?" She asked her daughter, wanting to avoid a meltdown in the middle of breakfast when Skylar realized it wasn't there with her..

"Big Bird gets pancake?" Skylar asked, allowing Brittany to lift her out of the car.

"One pancake for Big Bird." Brittany nodded.

Skylar quickly grabbed the toy by the eyeball, Brittany cringing and laughing at how rough her daughter was. The baby suddenly sang her ABCs as they walked to the doors, Brittany bouncing her and dancing around with her, not caring who was watching or looking at them.

"Hi, table for one and a half." Brittany smiled at the hostess, who smiled and waved at Skylar, who, since she was in a good mood that morning, gave a big smile back.

"Big Bird!" She told the hostess, holding the toy in her face.

"Cool." She replied as Skylar leaned back into Brittany's embrace.

Once they were seated in a booth, both Skylar and Big Bird in high chairs, Brittany poured water in Skylar's sippy cup for her, the baby watching her closely and glaring at the cup, still not a fan of them.

"Hi, welcome to Jax Pancake House, do you need a little more time, or are you ready?" The waitress asked.

"I'm ready." Brittany smiled. "For my daughter, one pancake, and two sausage links. I'll have the Jax special, the eggs scrambled with cheddar cheese, a little salsa added, and I'll have the turkey bacon. A kids sized orange juice for her, I'll take a glass of orange juice and a cup of the house blend coffee."

"Big Bird pancake!" Skylar tapped Brittany on the arm.

"Oh, and a pancake for Big Bird." Brittany smiled.

The waitress nodded and winked. "Got it."

"So what are we talking about?" Brittany asked Skylar, who scrunched up her face and laughed. "Tell me about Big Bird, why is he your new friend now?"

Skylar nodded and grabbed his beak, trying to pull him out of the highchair.

3pm Phoenix

"That was a good flight." Santana smiled as she exited the plane with Taylor, who was still waking up, sleeping most of the flight, cuddled in Santana's side. "Wake up, sleepy head." She teased when Taylor yawned and leaned into her side again. "Feeling okay?" She then asked her, cupping her cheek when Taylor mumbled something in her side.

"I'm okay." Taylor nodded, rubbing her eyes and blinking slowly to wake herself up. "Momma and Sky are waiting on us?" She asked excitedly.

"Momma sent us a driver." Santana shook her head. "She's waiting for us with Sky at the new house."

"Oh..." Taylor frowned. "She didn't wanna come get us?"

Santana wrapped her arm around Taylor's neck and smiled. "She's ordering a late lunch for us to snack on so we can look around the house, you and Sky can check out your new rooms."

"It's like the picture I drew?" Taylor asked excitedly.

Santana nodded. "We followed the sketch exactly, and used all the colors you wanted, same for Skylar's room. We did exactly what you wanted us to for both rooms."

"We can get in the pool today?" Taylor asked.

Santana checked the temperature on her phone and nodded. "Maybe for a little while, the pool is heated so we can maybe test it out." She smiled, grabbing her hand as they made their way to baggage claim, grabbing their suitcases.

The entire ride to the house Taylor sat in Santana's lap in the back of the SUV, looking excitedly out the window, taking in her new surroundings. "It's so pretty down here."

"Very pretty." Santana agreed. "We are going to love it down here, Tay, you'll make a ton of new friends at school next week and in the neighborhood. There's quite a few kids that we saw when I was here a few days ago, they looked around your age, and all seemed to be having a great time."

"I'm excited." Taylor confirmed. "Not nervous or scared at all."

"That's good." Santana replied, rubbing her back. "But it's okay to be a little nervous and scared about the move, both your mom and I are."

"Really?" Taylor asked, sliding off her mother's lap and sitting next to her on the seat.

"Yeah, it's new for everyone, but as long as we keep a positive attitude and stay optimistic, we'll be just fine, and it'll keep Sky Sky calm too. She probably doesn't understand what's going on so as long as we are all happy, she'll stay happy too. She's been a little cranky with all the changes lately, and the shuffling around, but now that we are all back under one roof, she'll be a lot happier." Santana smiled as they pulled in the driveway of their house.

Santana smiled when she saw Brittany sitting out front with Skylar, the baby holding a hula hoop, Brittany jumping in and out of it while they played. "Jump momma!" Skylar demanded, lifting the hoop again, wanting Brittany to jump in once again. Brittany spotted the car service and smiled brightly, before scooping Sylar in her arms, the baby laughing loudly before her eyes focused on Santana, who was stepping out of the SUV and a big smile crossed her face.

"Mami!" She shrieked, clapping her hands excitedly as Taylor ran over to her sister, hugging Brittany tightly, while Skylar patted her hand happily. "My Tay! My Tay!" Skylar smiled as she lunged into her sister's arms.

Santana winked at the baby, leaning down and kissing her on the forehead before hugging Brittany tightly. "Welcome home, Dr. Lopez-Pierce." Brittany smiled, kissing her quickly before Skylar began to tap Santana's shoulder.

"Sky Sky!" Santana beamed, grabbing Skylar and spinning her around as Taylor hugged Brittany again.

"I missed you kiddo." Brittany smiled.

"Brit, is everything ready for us?" Santana asked, locking eyes with her wife as Skylar ran her fingers through her mother's hair, smelling it and laughing.

Brittany nodded. "Yes."

"Okay girls, let's check out the house." Santana smiled, grabbing Brittany's hand as they walked in the house, going room by room with the girls. Skylar and Taylor both excitedly look around and take in their new living quarters.

"Everything looks amazing." Santana whispered in Brittany's ear. "Literally everything."

"I love it." Brittany nodded in reply. "Ready to head outside and check out the backyard?"

"Why don't you lead the way, Taylor?" Santana suggested.

Taylor looked up at her moms and shrugged. "Okay, come on Sky." She held her sister's hand as they walked through the kitchen to the French doors leading to the yard. "The neighbor's puppy barks a lot." Taylor laughed. "Do you think they'll let us play with it sometimes?"

"Puppy." Sky smiled as Taylor helped her step out of the house, both of the girls freezing when two small Husky puppies came running towards them, ready to play. Skylar's eyes widened as she turned to run back to Santana, who caught her right away and kneeled down with her, Brittany sitting in grass next to Taylor, who was letting both puppies crawl all over her.

"Are these ours?" Taylor asked, tears in her eyes from excitement.

"Si, your mom and I know with the move that it's going to be hard on you two, we uprooted you and took you out of your comfort zone, and you've been such a good sport, and with the awesome presentation you gave on getting a puppy..." Santana started.

"You earned and deserved these guys." Brittany smiled, reaching in her pocket and handing Skylar a treat to feed them. Sky threw the treat down as the puppies rushed over to them and began to eat them. "They won't hurt you, Sky." Brittany assured her, having her rub the puppies heads, Skylar eventually laughing and running so the puppies could chase her.

"You're responsible for giving them fresh water and food, and you have to help with their baths." Santana stated. "And walking them everyday after school."

"And you're in charge of cleaning up the yard after they poop." Brittany added. "No complaining."

"Got it." Taylor nodded before covering her eyes as she cried in gratitude. "Thank you, thank you, thank you." She managed to mumble out.

"You're welcome." Santana leaned over and kissed her on the top of the head. "We need to name them."

Skylar ran back over into Brittany's lap, one of the puppies crawling in the blonde's lap with her, causing Santana to laugh, as the other started to climb on Taylor again.

"Big Bird!" Skylar pointed to one of the puppies.

"That's not Big Bird." Santana smiled at the baby. "What's her obsession with Big Bird now?" She asked Brittany, who shrugged and smiled as Skylar began to let the puppy lick her hand.

"Big Bird's yellow." Taylor explained casually. "I don't know what to name them, can I think about it for a while?"

"Sure." Santana nodded. "Go run around with them and Sky."

Brittany scooted closer to Santana, kissing her wife. "I missed you."

"I missed you." Santana blushed. "So this is our life now? We went from living in cold ass New York just a few weeks ago, not wanting a dog to living in sunny Phoenix with two husky puppies." She laughed.

"You love it." Brittany teased before jumping up and running while squeaking some of the new toys she bought for the puppies, then quickly running after her.

1am

"You need to go to sleep." Santana smiled as she wiped Brittany's tears away, the blonde catching her breath after her orgasm. She kissed all over Brittany's face before leaning back and sitting up against the headboard, Brittany straddling her and leaning forward on her chest, allowing Santana to hug her tightly.

"Me being tired in the morning will be so worth it." Brittany replied, placing soft kisses across Santana's collarbone.

"Well we christened the new bathtub, which is a good call on the jacuzzi tub, the shower, the balcony, the floor, and finally the bed." Santana smiled. "Get some rest baby. I know a part of you wants to stay up in case Sky wakes up and is a little scared in the new room, but I'll get up with her."

"I'm the reason for the move so I just want to make sure everything goes smoothly with them tonight." Brittany replied.

"After the warm oatmeal bath for Tay and rash, she's out for the night, long day of traveling for her, and Sky Sky played with the puppies until she collapsed in the middle of the living room." Santana laughed at the memory. "If anyone wakes up it'll be Hansel and Grettel, but I think they will sleep the night away too."

"They start obedience school right away tomorrow, right?" Brittany asked.

"Definitely." Santana nodded quickly. "They had warm baths and are snug in their cage, so they should be okay too."

"So Taylor's rash, should I be concerned, it looks pretty bad." Brittany frowned, sliding off of Santana and walking to the bathroom, the Latina behind, both knowing they should rinse off in the shower in case the girls needed to sleep with them.

Santana turned on the shower and stepped in behind Brittany, immediately massaging her back, not wanting it to stiffen from all the different positions they just did. "No, her dermatologist gave her an antibiotic, and increased the ointment so it's a little stronger, it'll smell different, I noticed that right away. It's actually looking better than it did yesterday already."

"Okay, I've been looking in stores down here for her detergent and I haven't seen it, so we may need to start ordering a case of it from the company, or maybe Amazon has it." Brittany replied.

"Hmmmm, okay. I plan to do a little exploring while you work tomorrow, just to familiarize myself with the area tomorrow, so I'll check out some stores and ask around for it too. I want to get Taylor her school supplies too, do you want me to wait for you to do that?" Santana asked, running the loofah up and down Brittany's back. "We need to head to the store and get furniture for the living room and dining room this week. I know the girls like camping on the floor but I'm not a fan." She laughed.

"Could you?" Brittany asked. "We can go when I get home tomorrow afternoon, then take the girls out to dinner."

"Sounds good." Santana replied.

After they finished showering, they got back in bed, Santana glancing at Skylar on the monitor, relaxing when she saw she was fast asleep, before cuddling close to Brittany and closing her eyes.

"Here we go." Brittany smiled before closing her eyes as well. "Good night, Phoenix."
