"Uncle Roy," Phoebe said, putting down her book and looking up at him with a frown. "Where are you moving?"
"I have a new project in Hounslow."
"What about the one in Richmond?"
"That's a big project, I won't live there."
"Can you show it to me?"
Roy stared at her for a moment and then grunted out, "fine, scoot your boot into the car."
Phoebe whooped, put her book down, and grabbed her shoes.
Roy drove them to the house; Mrs Boniface had moved out the previous week. Roy stopped before the house, hoping the crew was still there, they'd baited the house and were starting with the indoor fixtures and the demolition.
"Can we go in?" Phoebe asked.
"I'll check, if it's not safe, we're not going."
"Okay, Uncle Roy."
Roy climbed out of the car and went to speak to Nigel; the building foreman. He always used the same company so most of the workers knew him. They weren't doing anything dangerous, and it wasn't unsafe for Phoebe to walk around so he took her inside and showed her around the bones of the house and pointed out the original fittings he wanted to keep for the finished build.
"Which is going to be my room?"
"None," Roy grunted out. "I told you I won't be staying here."
"Shame, this is a cool house."
"It will be," Roy agreed. "Come on, it's time to go and meet your mum."
"When's Jamie back from visiting his mum?"
"Monday."
"Good, I know you've been missing him."
"I fucking well do not."
"Okay, Uncle Roy," she said taking his hand as they walked back to his car.
