Saturday, 14th October 2022 – A More Reasonable Hour
Jamie walked in the door, toeing off his shoes and stopped at Phoebe's door, which was still closed, to listen for a beat - silenced. He went into the kitchen and poured himself a glass of water before opening the laundry door and finding Cruyff still there and no Phoebe. Jamie took himself upstairs and had a shower in the main bathroom hoping to avoid waking Roy up. When he was done, the bedroom door was open and Roy was staring at him from where he was lying on his side, still under the blankets. Jamie wasn't sure why he'd bothered. He waved and walked into the room, sliding into the bed next to Roy but not bothering to go under the blankets.
"Did you stretch?" Roy asked.
Jamie rolled his eyes. "Have I ever not stretched?"
Roy shrugged one shoulder.
"You're an arse," Jamie told him, moving to climb off the bed, only to be pulled back into Roy's body.
"Is Phoebe up?" Roy asked.
"No, but she was at 4 when I was leaving. She was in with Cruyff and the book of her plans for her bedroom."
"What?"
"I sent her back to bed."
"Did she go?" Roy asked.
"She wasn't in the laundry when I got home, and her door was still closed."
"Bloody menace of a child," Roy grumbled, burying his nose in Jamie's shoulder. "Wait…book of plans?"
Jamie nodded. "She's planned the whole thing out."
"Did she get any sleep?"
Jamie laughed. "No, that amazing kid down there knew you were going to fall in love with this house and planned the room out that she was hoping she was going to get when you finally decided to live here."
"The little fucking know-it-all," Roy grumbled. "Did it look good?"
"Don't know, told her I was going to look at it when I came back."
Roy nodded. "Is it time for your meal?"
Jamie shook his head without looking at the clock. "We have a little while longer."
Roy grumbled his agreement.
"Are you going to cave immediately to everything she asks for?" Jamie asked, smirking up at the ceiling.
"No."
"Mmmmhmmm."
"Fuck you," Roy mumbled. "I can say no to her."
"But why bother?" Jamie said. "You can grumble and fight or you can just admit you're going to give her the bedroom of her dreams."
Roy stayed silent, nuzzled into Jamie, and ignored Jamie's shoulder bump and Jamie's laughter. Jamie knew he was right.
