His eyes fluttered open in the soft light, and he could hear the birds singing all around him. He was in the middle of a small forest clearing. He could hear a small stream nearby, and a soft, familiar-smelling breeze caressed his face. Or maybe it was that hand in his hair.

He just lay there, not because he was tired. He was even full of energy, but just because the situation he was in was far too comfortable to move.

Sebastian: You again?

He said without looking at her.

Well... I expected more pleasant greetings.

Sebastian: Sorry.

I know you're worried about your allies. They're all fine and you're currently lying on your friend's couch.

He closed his eyes again, enjoying the comfort.

Sebastian: Why me...?

Why not?

Sebastian: You never answer my questions.

Because you never ask important ones.

He enjoyed his situation for a while, watching the leaves dance in the wind.

Sebastian: Are you satisfied with the fact that I spared this man?

'Yes. Yes I am. And you, are you still afraid?'

Sebastian: Much less. But yes, I'm still afraid of losing everything in this world.

'That's good, it proves that you have things that are dear enough to you that you fear losing them.'

Here in this clearing, he felt infinitely reassured. The sacred light that had once flooded him still permeated him. Like a flash of goodness that ran through every fiber of his being, banishing hatred, fear and sadness. Invigorating every cell like a good night's sleep or the second wind of battle.

Sebastian: Thank you. For what you did.

All I did was help you open your eyes. To this world. To do what I cannot.

Sebastian: I was stupid. I have to get ready for loss.

I would never wish it on you. But yes. You can't go forward scared to death of losing everyone and everything you care about. Just as there's no point in going forward without holding on to anything.

Sebastian: Hm... You have soft hands.

He heard her laugh slightly. Sounding like music to his ears.

I know... And I don't even need lotions...

Sebastian: Seriously, why me and not someone else?

He sensed that the presence remained silent for a moment, seeming to reflect.

You're a brute. Violent, often ruthless, blinded by your rage. And yet I'd already sensed something in you for years. All your flaws are driven by your tenderness. An immense tenderness and love hides behind all the darkness of your heart. And if you don't want to see it, I can't, pretending I don't. The other thing I've noticed about you is your ability to change. You've changed from darkness to light.

Sebastian: And before that I had changed from light to darkness...

He said, his tone dark. The doctor couldn't forgive himself for what he'd done in the past as Babel's demon.

It is true. And to add the cherry on top of the cake, I can say that you are far too pessimistic about yourself. Me, I prefer to see the glass as half full.

Sebastian: You're far too sweet and noble for someone like me.

That's what you think. Not what is. I'm sure you will fullfill your destiny successfully.

Sebastian: And what is this destiny?

You'll find out soon enough I hope.

He closed his eyes again. And felt a soft kiss on his forehead.

Go west, and be like the star in the firmament, like the lighthouse in the mist, save my people, your people. Go to our land. Go to Kazimierz. Be victorious in each of your steps, and keep the faith, my champion.

He opened his eyes for good, seeing the familiar ceiling of Hoshiguma's apartment. His body felt no fatigue despite all the energy he'd used the day before. He looked down to see Fore Hoshiguma's cat sleeping on his chest as he lay on the sofa. He had an IV in his arm placed a little high up, which he recognized as glucose. Probably to recharge his energy. He let out a grunt as his senses returned.

Hoshiguma: Awake?

The giant raised his numb hand and woke up the cat, which was resting so that it could move.

Sebastian: Yeah.

He rubbed his eyes and raised his gaze to the kitchen area of the apartment to his left. He was surprised by his welcoming committee. Here were not only Hoshiguma and Ch'en, but also Fumizuki, Kal'tsit and Exusiai.

He looked at the women for a few moments, not really knowing what to say.

Sebastian: Quite a welcoming committee.

Exusiai: Seb! Thanks the lord you're all right!

exclaimed the sankta, happy to see the giant on his feet, as he rose from the sofa. Tearing off the electrodes connected to his chest from a strange machine and the drip he had. The doctor smiled too.

Sebastian: How are you? There was like a column of smoke over the world's end.

He said, seeming to come back to reality for a moment. The young woman lowered her gaze as if he'd just touched a nerve.

Exusiai: A suicide bomber knocked on the bar door with an explosive vest. Irina stood in front of him just before he exploded... She received most of the injuries.

The giant's face quickly decomposed. Now worried for young Ursine.

Sebastian: Is she all right?

Exusiai: She was back on her feet long before you were. I was injured too, but we were all healed by the healing arts.

Sebastian: So everything's fine, right?

Exusiai: The kamikaze... He was just a kid Phobos knew we'd hesitate to attack him...

Sebastian: The bastards...

His fist clenched in anger.

Sebastian: At least now it's all over.

Exusiai: I guess so. And the world's end is good to be completely rebuilt.

Sebastian: It's still doable. I'm delighted at least to hear that everyone's doing well.

He turned to Ch'en and the other two Lungmenites. He clenched his fist again.

Sebastian: How many people died?

He lowered his head and closed his eyes. Aware of the unprecedented destruction he had created in his fight. He could not afford to ignore the deaths that would be his fault.

Fumizuki: No one, Doctor.

He gasped and looked at the three smiling young women, all of them happy to be able to reassure the giant.

Ch'en: The L.G.D. has already finished searching the rubble. We've had reports during the battle of people who were heavily injured. One even said she'd been cut in half by a piece of debris. But all were healed by the miracle.

Sebastian: The miracle...?

Kal'tsit: We have to talk about it.

Sebastian: Talk about what?

He said, looking away, seeming almost evasive.

Kal'tsit: What do you mean talk about what? About what happened. I have a window in my office, you know? Curative light, shining like a sun, reality itself twisted. No one in the whole city could ignore it. And everyone in this room knows who was at the center of it. So... What happened?

Sebastian: What happened? For a moment... I was able to draw an immense amount of energy... Even more than with my combustion. Then I could use my arts more than ever. And do other things... Like manipulate gravity in a more extreme way than usual.

Ch'en: But how... could you do that?

Sebastian: I'm not entirely sure myself, but I don't think it's likely to happen again.

He noticed Kal'tsit crossing her arms and tapping her fingers on her own arm, eyes closed. The giant readied himself and took a few steps towards her.

Sebastian: Good. Now you can yell.

Kal'tsit took a deep breath and with a lightning-fast blow slapped the giant.

Sebastian: Okay, maybe I deserved that one. I probably did.

Another slap in the face.

Sebastian: This one too.

She was about to deliver a kick aimed straight at the giant's jewels, which he dodged with ease.

Sebastian: that's a no, though.

The feline sighed before giving the giant a murderous look that made everyone in the room raise all of their hairs, even if they weren't the target. The four young women were terrified... for who on this planet could afford to yell at the emerald-eyed giant...

Kal'tsit: Okay, where do I start... The fact that you're launching a clandestine operation in the city without warning me... The fact that you're recruiting an ex-leader of the meeting that almost killed you into your forces?! Oh no, I know, last night's fucking fiasco !

Sebastian: You know I won't apologize, right?

She sighed again and pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration.

Kal'tsit: Isn't that the problem?

Sebastian: A lot of people saw that I was the cause of this miracle?

Kal'tsit: Everyone saw on the news that you took care of the dirty bomb. And there's a video of you stopping Phobos once and for all. But as for the miracle...

The feline grabbed the TV remote control from the table and turned the sound back on, drawing Sebastian's attention to the news. The banner read, "Terrorist attack at the Spring Festival", and in the picture was Wei Yenwu standing proudly on a platform mounted in front of the L.G.D. tower.

Wei: Last night, as you all know, a serious incident took place. During our precious festival, the terrorist known as Phobos, who had already been shaking the city for weeks, launched a desperate attack against Lungmen and its inhabitants, following the dismantling of his cartel by the heroic forces of the L.G.D.

Hoshiguma: Tch.

Sebastian: It's okay...

Wei: Fortunately, Dr. Sebastian of Rhodes Island, who is working as a consultant for the L.G.D. at my request, was able to help the police stand in the terrorist's way with the aid of powerful illusionary arts.

Grumbles could be heard from the crowd who were watching Wei's speech live. The news in Lungmen quickly made the rounds, especially when the TV had filmed the doctor in action. And the good people of Lungmen didn't like being lied to.

Wei: Rest assured, your dear mayor has taken every natural precaution to protect his people. And I'm proud to have led the L.G.D. through this ordeal-

The roar of the crowd increased once more, some of them shouting, and then the first tomato flew, landing in Wei's face, like a bad comedian, he had just been rewarded for his very poor performance. Suddenly, a cloud of detritus flew towards him and the antenna cut off. A figure the giant knew well appeared on the screen. Sebastian realized it was 3B.

Jill: Ah, apparently Mr. Wei's speech ended abruptly. To return to his words, they seem to be in total opposition to the images we captured last night. Where it was indeed the Rhodes Island doctor who was in the front line for the arrest of the terrorist. We are still awaiting a statement from the company or its leaders on this subject. Or about the doctor who mysteriously disappeared after the arrest.

Sebastian: I've got it...

Kal'tsit put the TV back on mute. While Sebastian took a deep breath.

Sebastian: So is it good or bad for us?

Kal'tsit: It puts us even more in the spotlight... We could get more publicity, and therefore more recruits, influence... As it always brings us more out of the shadows in the eyes of our enemies. I'd say it could be positive or negative. But I already know what you're thinking.

Sebastian: That I wouldn't live in the shadows.

Kal'tsit: Then I'd simply say that only time will tell.

Sebastian: And we'll be ready to welcome it.

Kal'tsit: Oh, I almost forgot.

She presented him with a new white shirt, which reminded Sebastian that his was torn.

Kal'tsit: I'm getting to know you. And fresh clothes will surely make you more presentable.

Sebastian: Thank you.

Without thinking, he undid his tie and removed the shirt he was wearing, facing away from the others in the room.

Kal'tsit looked away on purpose. But the four young women fixed their gazes on Sebastian's back, which like the rest of his body was carved out of marble. Exusiai, Hoshiguma and Ch'en had the same reaction, blushing like young girls at the sight of a man they loved stripping off just a little, and especially at the sight of his perfect figure.

One person who had a very different reaction, however, was Fumizuki.

Fumizuki: By the gods! Doctor! Your back... What happened to you?

She seemed panicked, worried about the giant. She hadn't reacted to the doctor's muscular figure, nor to the huge tattoo on his back. But to all the scars he had.

Sebastian: If only I knew...

She moved closer to the giant, brushing his back with her fingertips. She still couldn't believe it. How could a body so strong... so resistant have been so traumatized...

Fumizuki: You must have suffered so much...

All the scars he had were from his first life. So he remembered. But he had to play the game.

Sebastian: Every one of them has a story to tell. But all of you here must know more about these stories than I do.

He said with a slightly bitter smile.

Ch'en: Are those claw marks?

*Almost all of them were from his first life.*

Kal'tsit looked away.

Fumizuki: I'm sorry...

Sebastian: From what? You didn't cause these scars. You don't have to apologize for anything. But I appreciate your sympathy.

He said with an honest smile. The gentleness she gave him reminded him of his mother in a way.

The kirin finally realized that her hand was caressing the giant and withdrew it, blushing heavily. She ignored Kal'tsit's murderous stare. Sebastian put his clothes back on, ending his hypnosis.

Sebastian: Well, let's see what happened to the world's end. And thanks for tucking me in, ladies.

He said with a light laugh. Amusing those who were with him.

Kal'tsit: I guess I'll arrange for Rhodes to finally leave here thanks to the documents Ch'en gave me.

Sebastian: Oh damn.

He said, surprised to see what was left of the famous bar that had served as his HQ for the past few days.

And there wasn't much left. The original members of Penguin Logistics were among the rubble, trying to salvage their few belongings. While the rest of the team had gathered nearby at the giant's request.

He looked at the rubble in front of him. The ruined building reminded him of so many visions of wars he had lived through, and desolated the giant within.

Devastation. He was aware that as a warrior he was the one to bring it. He was aware of it. And yet he always regretted seeing the result of his actions. Sebastian lowered his eyes.

War marched in his wake. And never did he shine as brightly as in conflict.

It was something he didn't notice about himself. But it was something that had changed since his communion with the presence. Up there in the Lungmen sky. His compassion had grown, and he'd never cared so much about the destruction in his wake.

Irina: And yet you weren't there...

She said, yawning at the end of her sentence. Tearing the doctor away from his depressing thoughts.

Sebastian: Are you sure you're okay...?

Irina: Yeah yeah... I'm just exhausted... I feel like I could sleep for two days straight.

Sebastian: Get all the rest you can once we're aboard Rhodes Island...

The girl began to smile. Ready to annoy the giant again.

Irina: Yeah... A good shower, a good meal, and then to lie down in our bed...

Sebastian: It'll do you a world of good - wait, our bed?!

His face flushed slightly before he became angry at the young woman's smirk.

Sebastian: Tch. Brat.

He said, placing his hand on her skull and pushing her slightly away from him, making the young woman laugh.

At least fatigue hadn't made her lose her "special" sense of humor, he thought with a smile gracing his lips.

Emperor: Well, we're knee deep in shit.

Sebastian: Problem?

The giant asked as the penguin slowly approached him.

Emperor: And not just a little. Phobos blew up our crib. How crazy is that? But on top of that, he leaked a lot of information about P.L. to our enemies... Which means we won't be safe in Lungmen anymore...

Sebastian: Shit... Is there any way I can help you?

Sebastian didn't know the bird well enough to see that it was smiling mischievously.

Emperor: Exia told me you had a bar on Rhodes Island...

Immediately, the giant frowned. He was far from stupid, after all, and could already see where the penguin was coming from.

Sebastian: And its own logistics department with the appropriate infrastructure...

He said, not needing to hear the penguin continue.

Emperor: A long-term contract with P.L. would be profitable for both of us. With our logistics expertise and operators at your disposal... While we have a mobile and secure H.Q...

The giant sighed. Of course, he still had a problem to solve. If he were to have P.L. members living in his home. And not the least.

Texas.

If he were to say that he'd forgiven her... That he'd be completely okay with her living a few meters from where he slept every night...

He would lie.

But even if it cost him, he was willing to do it. He just wasn't sure she'd want to.

Sebastian: I don't mind. But there will be a few problems...

Emperor: Nah. There won't be any.

The penguin's voice became deeper. He also knew what Sebastian meant. And he intended to have a word with his associate.

Sebastian: If there's any problem with that. Don't worry, I could help you get settled somewhere else with a little elbow grease. It's preferable to any possible tensions aboard Rhodes.

The giant had a rather lukewarm opinion of Emperor's proposal, although he was rather against rubbing shoulders with the lupo, but seeing the ruin that was the world's end filled him with guilt. He felt strongly that he was the one who had dragged Penguin Logistics into this adventure and that he was responsible for the destruction of their HQ.

Once again, perhaps it was due to the change that had taken place in the depths of his soul.

Emperor: We'll see, Doctor. I'll keep you posted.

Sebastian turned to his team a little further away. And walked slowly towards them, his long coat billowing in the wind. As a light rain began to fall, the sun in the distance illuminated the city, the golden light of the morning being reflected by the water bathing the city in ever more light.

Everyone could see that the atmosphere in the city had changed. The air had become better. As if cleansed of pollution and miasma. And above all, there were plants absolutely everywhere... In every crack in the road, grass had sprouted, in every breach in the walls of the buildings, ivy and flowers had appeared, on the sidewalks tall trees had sprouted from the ground, and as for the buildings that had been destroyed, the rubble had been transformed into little forest squares.

Wherever you looked in town, there was green in sight.

The view was fantastic, to be honest. If the front city at night looked like something out of a cyberpunk world, the atmosphere it gave off was in complete opposite.

His reflection lasted only a few seconds and he was brought back to reality by his phone vibrating, he pulled it out to see a message from Kal'tsit asking him to come and assist with the negotiations he sighed, and stopped in front of the rest of his team.

Sebastian: Okay. Ladies and gentlemen. I think this is officially the end of the adventure.

Nian: Finally.

Indra: Well... it feels like it's been a month, not a week...

She said with a slight laugh.

Sebastian: Yeah. That's true.

He said, his good humor mingling with that of the others.

Sebastian: I'd like to thank you. All of you again. For the help you've given this town, and the help you've given me. All. All those who come aboard are asked to go to Rhodes Island, I've got a few things to sort out before I come, but it's best to wait for me there. And Siege, that'll give you time to get your gang together and get over there.

Everyone nodded, and many began to leave.

Much too much...

All of them.

Sebastian: Wait a second, FEater, Yushia, are you coming?

The zalak was the first to speak. She sighed and pinched her nose in a gesture that reminded her of Kal'tsit.

Yushia: My father very kindly kicked me out and said it was time for me to travel the world a bit... So I guess I'll come with you.

Sebastian: Oh... That's not a problem I hope...

The young woman was immediately startled.

Yushia: N-no, don't get the wrong idea, Doctor, I'm even happy to be able to come with you. Well, not you you, but Rhodes, if you don't mind...

She was as red as a tomato.

Sebastian: You've got talent, you're welcome. On the other hand, Ms. FEater, I think there'd be a problem if you joined us. You see, Rhodes isn't yet ready to take on all the media coverage that a great actress like you could bring-

FEater: Don't worry doc, my application's already been accepted!

Sebastian: I'm sorry but- Wait what?

FEater: Oh, the first day we met I applied to Rhodes Island and I got in!

...

He would be sure to talk to human resources.

Sebastian: Well... I'll see you all later. I'll be there soon.

He sighed and turned around, heading for the L.G.D. control tower.

The giant had taken a walk around the floor of his L.G.D. colleagues, thanking Mike, Nao and Luis, as well as the other friends he'd made while here for a month. And receiving many congratulations from the L.G.D. agents for his heroic performance. All in all, a good time.

But as he stepped back into the elevator, he was about to experience a not-so-pleasant moment. For the first time in a month, the giant was about to have a chat with the snake who sat at the top of the tower. The elevator door opened as he reached the Penthouse.

He stepped into the corridor. His presence radiated light and determination. He felt the secretary's gaze on him, about to tell him he was expected, but he didn't care. Just as he felt the gaze of Wei's guards lurking in the shadows, Sebastian's loyalists and others alike.

But he was far from intimidated. Because they were. It was as if his soul gave off a certain light that nibbled at theirs.

He entered the penthouse. He saw Kal'tsit sitting opposite Wei, just as he had at the beginning of the story. But there were also Hoshiguma, Swire and Ch'en nearby.

Wei: Ah doctor... Here you are, please sit down-

Sebastian: That won't be necessary.

He replied sharply. Clearly showing he had neither the time nor the inclination to put up with Wei's pseudo charm act. He remained standing next to Kal'tsit.

Wei: Lady Kal'tsit and I were just discussing Rhodes Island's departure from Lungmen...

The giant looked at the file which confirmed that there was no longer any trace of the reunion in town, which was laid out on the small table in front of the feline.

Wei: I don't know how the report from the third team reached you...

He said, opening one eye and casting a murderous glance straight at Ch'en.

Wei: But I was going to warn you that you were ready to leave... And those as soon as you want.

Sebastian: Not so fast. One of the clauses of the contract explained that as a consultant for L.G.D. I would be paid for my efforts.

Wei frowned, having forgotten that part. Anyway, he'd pay him a pittance compared to what the city was making. Or what any other police inspector earned.

Sebastian: After accounting for my hours with the sum of the first contract, the various bonuses and overtime, I've already been to the accounting department. All I need is your signature.

He said, placing a folded sheet of paper on the table.

Wei opened it, puzzled, and his face fell.

Wei: Forty-seven million LMD...

Sebastian: And five hundred and twenty thousand.

Everyone here widened their eyes when they heard the astronomical sum. Except Sebastian.

The lynx was pleasantly surprised - she knew the giant had nothing to complain about financially speaking, but his income was dirty. So such a large sum of clean money paid to Rhodes Island would definitely be a small plus.

Sebastian: No, there's no mistake whatsoever. Please sign.

Ch'en: But that's what I do in six months!

Sebastian: I've told you before, you really should look at your pay slips. But this is what it's like to work twenty hours a day for a month.

Wei: This is outrageous!

The giant seemed amused by Lung's reaction.

Sebastian: You seem to regret one of the clauses in the contract YOU proposed.

Wei: I don't know what this scam is, but I wouldn't pay a penny for this!

Sebastian: I don't think you'll have a choice.

The emerald-eyed giant smiled even wider. The snake felt as if a terrible trap was closing around him. The doctor rummaged through his raincoat before tossing a series of photos onto the table.

Sebastian: I was right to search the triad's hard drives...

The photos show the Lung getting into his luxury car, then getting out of a building.

Wei gasped and his face began to panic. Understanding what this implied.

Wei: That's not possible...

Ch'en slowly began to approach to see what it was all about. But the Lung hid the photos with his hand.

Wei: None of your business !

The giant gave him a look that paralyzed him with fear. The lung remained motionless, his dark soul feeling like it was burning. He removed his hand, and Ch'en immediately recognized the spot. She could never have forgotten a place where such a macabre crime had taken place.

Ch'en: It's... The Triad brothel...

She was an inspector, so she was surprised she hadn't connected the dots sooner. But soon her face twisted in anger and disgust. As did those of Hoshiguma and Swire, who understood what had happened.

Kal'tsit: Doctor, can you explain?

Sebastian: I've also recovered the recordings of your telephone conversations with Phobos. That little bastard had a habit of keeping everything.

He crossed his arms.

Sebastian: Wei is the man who brought the Triad to town. In exchange for a portion of their income paid directly into his private account. It was he who provided information on the Lins, L.G.D. and Penguin Logistics.

The giant stood proud and unruffled. If on his first encounter he could have been compared to an eagle ready to lunge at its prey, here Sebastian could have been compared to a Lion standing proud.

The tension in the room had become immense. The lung felt like an animal with its back to the wall. He was ready to call in his shadow guards and have everyone here murdered.

Kal'tsit's eyes were riveted on Sebastian. He seemed so proud and sure of himself. That was what surprised her. She knew the giant, she'd expected him to be a savage beast by now, rushing at the Lung to gut him in a black rage. And yet he seemed to show far less anger than the L.G.D. women here.

It was when she saw his eyes that she understood. Those beautiful emeralds that glowed blood-red when the giant showed anger, were now a different color. His irises were golden. Like gold illuminated by the midday sun.

Because in his head it wasn't anger that was bubbling up. Black rage. The kind he wanted to free himself from, the kind that could only destroy.

Only one thing radiated from his mind. The will to pursue and defeat evil.

The shadow guards implanted with their demonic artifacts simply couldn't bear to even look at the giant for he was the anathema.

Sebastian: You're going to pay me. And let Rhodes Island go, without a fuss. If you don't want this information to fall into the hands of the newspapers.

Ch'en looked at the lung with a disgust she'd never felt before.

Kal'tsit realized that the situation was taking a new turn, and thought for herself. She had hated the month that had followed. Wei had humiliated Rhodes Island with all his actions. And she was determined to take her revenge.

Kal'tsit: What's more, you arranged for the doctor to be absent from Rhodes Island for a whole month. To have one of our most important executives caught in this way and for whom more is lies is an affront in addition to having been a big problem for us.

Wei: What are you getting at...?

The lynx looked at the L.G.D. women.

Kal'tsit: Rhodes Island is always on the lookout for security consultants.

Everyone understood what she was getting at. And once again, amazement filled the room.

Kal'tsit: Until they do the same number of hours in a row as our dear doctor.

Sebastian: I did 560 hours.

Kal'tsit: If there's more than one.

Of course. Kal'tsit wasn't smiling. At least on the outside. Even if she could easily admit to feeling a certain jubilation in taking her revenge in this way.

Swire was the first to react.

Swire: What? But we can't leave Lungmen for what, a month or more?! We're chiefs of the city guard!

Wei: You can't do that! It will have a huge impact!

Ch'en: Sebastian. What do you think.

The lung turned to the giant. She was seething with anger, as was Hoshiguma. After all, they were both knights of justice. The doctor lowered his head. He wanted to piss Wei off, that was for sure, but he couldn't ignore the impact it would have to take the city's most important women aboard Rhodes Island.

Sebastian: I think it depends entirely on your opinion.

Ch'en: Hoshi?

Hoshiguma: I agree.

This surprised everyone except the giant.

Hoshiguma: The city will be quiet for the next few weeks. And then we have to pay back for services rendered.

Ch'en: Hm I think so too.

Wei: What but-!

Sebastian: I have one condition. Should Lungmen suffer any crisis during this period. That you two may join Lungmen at your convenience.

The lung began to smile. Touched that the giant asked this. With the greater good in mind.

Ch'en: And you, Beatrix?

Swire: *sigh* Someone has to do your job while you go have fun...

Kal'tsit: Good, then it's settled.

Wei: I haven't said my last word!

Sebastian: Don't forget who's in a position of power here Wei... So your last words had better be thank you for coming, goodbye.

The giant turned to the two L.G.D. officers.

Sebastian: Prepare to leave and get to Rhodes Island as soon as you can. We leave in three hours. Kal.

Kal'tsit: I'm coming. We're done here.

Just as he was about te exit the room, the feline beside him, he turned and smirked.

Sebastian: You can keep the photos as souvenirs.

The giant made it to Rhodes Island. After completing his last business in town. Making sure he arrived home just before noon. He arrived in front of the main boarding bay. The big door still closed.

A small army had gathered there. All the members of his team, even Texas... Emperor must have done quite a tap-dance... the Glasgow gangsters, and also Ch'en and Hoshiguma were there. Most of them with their belongings. And so was Irina.

She was standing in front of the two L.G.D. members, staring at each other. Before anyone noticed the doctor.

Sebastian: Ladies?

Ch'en: So it's true... Doc, you did recruit her to your team.

Irina: Hey, don't look at me like that, I could think you want to kill me.

Hoshiguma: Is she really trustworthy...?

The oni's eyes glowed a brilliant yellow.

Sebastian: Irina has earned my full trust. Ask the others.

The young ursine smiled, looking at the two other young women, clearly taller than her, as Sebastian passed by.

Irina: See. If our big guy here *slap* trusts me when I literally killed him that's okay right?

In the middle of her sentence, Irina had found it funny to slap the giant's bottom. And then again. Of course, the giant began to blush immensely. While the two young women looked shocked.

Then the shock was transmitted into murderous intent on Hoshiguma's part, giving the young ursine quite a fright.

Clearly Ch'en and Hoshiguma didn't like her any better than before. And maybe even worse than before...

The giant looked at one of the surveillance cameras outside the land cruiser, waving. The ramp quickly began to descend. Sebastian was the first to set foot on the land cruiser. He was astonished to see how many people were in the boarding bay. More precisely, operators.

Everyone here had come to welcome back the giant. Who began to smile warmly.

And if he wasn't so hardened. He would easily have dropped a tear, so moved was he. Everyone was happy to see the doctor again.

He even caught a glimpse of W standing behind. Not too keen to show her enthusiasm either. He soon caught sight of two figures running towards him.

Ifrit: Dad!

The giant's face softened as he dropped to one knee. Opening his arms.

The sarkaz was the first to wrap her arms around his neck, closely followed by Misha.

Sebastian: Take it easy, girls, you'll knock me over...

Misha: You're back at last!

Said the young girl, looking at the giant, Sebastian amused by the fact that she now had a scar similar in every way to his own.

Sebastian: Yeah... did you miss me?

Ifrit: Yeah!

Misha: A lot happened while you were gone!

Sebastian: Why don't you tell me tonight. I've got a lot of stuff to do already... Besides Misha... Look who's with me.

He turned to the side and looked at another young ursine. Irina, seeing some of the looks on her face, was panicking... She'd already recognized some of the people she'd run over during the fights between Rhodes Island and the reunion. And she was afraid, to say the least, of the reactions there would be...

Misha: Sis!

The young girl ran to her sister and embraced her. The warm reunion was a much diminished version of the one that had taken place a few days earlier. But the joy of both could simply not be expressed in words.

Kal'tsit: Doctor... Can you explain...?

The lynx appeared as if by magic in front of the doctor. He was referring to the small army he had. Even more so when the men and women of Glasgow were taken into consideration.

Sebastian: I've done some recruiting...

Tired, she just took a deep breath.

Kal'tsit: You're on your own, I've got work to do.

Sebastian: Well ma'am...

The feline's gaze quickly fell on Siege. She frowned and then looked surprised.

Kal'tsit: Don't tell me it's...

Sebastian: Yes. Yes it is.

Kal'tsit: I should talk to her...

Sebastian: Nuh uh, I have a priority discussion for you.

He said, looking at Irina.

Sebastian: About her father. Apparently you had something to do with his death. And I want to set the record straight.

Kal'tsit: I suppose it was bound to happen sooner or later... Good. I'll talk to her. By the way, we're waiting for you in the interrogation room.

Sebastian: Have we finally found them?

Kal'tsit: Yes.

Sebastian: I'll get there.

The giant separated himself from the feline and set off to greet his operators and friends. Giving his instructions for welcoming the new faces. Exusiai looked around amused. Sometimes it seemed the only one who didn't realize how much he was appreciated was the doctor himself. Mostima put her hand on the shoulder of the shorter sankta.

Mostima: So this has been your home lately?

Exusiai: Yeah.

Mostima: Do you have a spare room near yours?

Exusiai: Right next door.

Mostima: Well, I know where to put my luggage-

*dring* *dring*

Mostima: Yo chicken, how's it going?

The fallen woman immediately broke into a huge smile. The giant a little further away watched the conversation with intrigue.

Mostima: Oh, don't worry, I'm not far away. In fact, she's right next to me. What do you mean someone wants to talk to me?

Mostima's face changed in an instant. Joy was drained away. To be replaced by incomprehension and immense shock.

She fell to her knees on the floor. Both the giant and Exusiai rushed to the young woman, worried for her. After a few moments, the young woman spoke again.

Mostima: Y-yes... Yes I'm still here... I-I H-how?!

Tears began to well up in the fallen woman's eyes.

Exusiai: Who is it?

She asked worriedly, almost on the verge of screaming. Mostima merely passed her the phone with a trembling arm, but when Exusiai took it, the blue-haired woman burst into tears. After a few moments, Exusiai's facial expression was the same.

Exusiai: It's... Really you...? But I thought you- I... Lord... Thank you... Thank you so much...

She too had begun to cry. Of joy. It was then that the giant realized that Mostima was also crying with joy.

Exusiai: Can I come to Laterano? I uh...

The young woman seemed to be trying to come to her senses, even if she also seemed on the verge of exploding with joy. She came to meet the giant's gaze, who nodded, and there her smile, like her halo, became brighter than ever.

Exusiai: Yes, we'll be there, I can't wait to see you!

The phone was hung up at the other end. Exusiai left the phone on the floor next to Mostima, who was still silently thanking the big boss.

Sebastian: Well?

He asked, not really understanding what was going on.

Exusiai: She's alive! Doctor, my sister is alive in Laterano!

The giant opened his eyes wide in surprise and finally understood the reaction of the two women.

Unable to contain her joy at this moment, the sankta threw herself around the giant's neck, hugging him as tightly as she could.

Exusiai: I can't believe it's true...

The giant stroked the head of the young woman he liked so much, finding his happiness in hers.

After an eternity, the santka snapped off, as the fallen woman rose from her near state of shock. The giant pulled some keys from his pockets and threw them to Mostima, the fallen woman catching the object as she went.

Sebastian: I'll get you a flight to Laterano in an hour. Take my car to the airport. And you're welcome. Hey, just don't get it too much scratched...

Exusiai: How can I ever thank you...

She seemed on the verge of crying again. And hesitated to jump up on his neck again, but this time to kiss him. He put his hand on her shoulder.

Sebastian: You will when you get home after having seen your sister. Go now.

The two sankta hurried off, Exusiai turning one last time to give the giant a loving smile before climbing into the car.

Irina: You have a certain talent for reuniting long-lost sisters...

Sebastian: I'll come to believe it too.

The giant ventured through the corridors of Rhodes Island's lowest decks. Eventually, he came to a dark corridor with several armored doors to one side, one of which was guarded by two Sarkaz guards.

Former babels. The ones who did the dirty work.

The giant walked to the door and opened it, surprised to see who was sitting handcuffed at the interrogation table. Face in tears.

Fang: D-doctor...?

Sebastian: Fang...?

He too was surprised to see the young Kuranta here. But they both knew why they were here.

The giant walked calmly over to the table. And sat down.

Sebastian: So it was you...

The tone of his voice was calmer and softer than ever. It was almost frightening.

Fang: Doctor I-

Sebastian: Fang. You leaked fight recordings from Rhodes Island. By doing so, you could have informed people about our group and individual combat tactics. You could have put Rhodes Island, your squad and your friends at risk.

As she once again began to cry silently with guilt, she lowered her head, while Sebastian moved a little closer.

Sebastian: You did put me at risk.

Fang: I'm so sorry, Doctor! I'm so so sorry!

She burst into a torrent of apologies and tears. While the giant stood there, unperturbed. Until his face softened.

Sebastian: I'm not angry with you, Fang. I just want to know why you did this.

She tried to pull herself together. Before speaking again.

Fang: My mother doctor... We were separated when I was eight... They contacted me... They had found her... And they told me that if I gave them videos of our fights they would give me information about her... And if not they would kill her...

She rested her head against the table... Indirectly imploring the giant's clemency.

Fang: I'm sorry... I didn't think it would hurt anyone... Please forgive me...

Sebastian: Fang, you betrayed us. Never forget that.

Then she felt as if a stake had just been driven through her heart. She felt the giant's hand rest on hers. And took it, warmly.

Sebastian: Never forget and make amends. I'm the only one who's been directly endangered by your actions so far, and I forgive you. I'll find your mother, and I'll find anyone who may have had the videos.

She stopped crying out of sheer shock. She had at least expected to be fired and lose all her friends. At the very least. Even if she'd expected just to be shot and left in the desert.

Sebastian: So if I do all that. Make amends.

Surprise would be a severe understatement. Because of her broken mental state, she could almost have cried with joy.

She had betrayed him. She had put him in danger.

And he forgave her. Just asking her to make amends.

At that moment, Fang vowed never to forget him.

Sebastian: I'm going to ask for you to be released. Dry your tears.

The giant stood up, smiling at the young woman. And left the room. There he saw Kal'tsit waiting, and another mysterious woman, leaning against a wall.

Kal'tsit: Well?

Sebastian: Let her go.

The feline frowned (even more than usual), unhappy with the doctor's answer.

Kal'tsit: Is this a joke? She betrayed us once. Why wouldn't she do it a second time?

The giant looked at the door to the room.

Sebastian: She won't do it again. Trust me, she won't.

As he began to leave, Kal'tsit spoke again.

Kal'tsit: What if she does?

The giant turned his gaze to her.

Sebastian: Then I'll kill her myself.

She seemed to be testing his resolve. And she was unwavering.

Kal'tsit: You should go and see Amiya. She hasn't been out of her room in a while.

He nodded and continued walking down the corridor, averting his gaze to the mysterious woman playing with a knife.

He nodded and continued walking down the corridor, averting his gaze to the mysterious woman playing with a knife

Sebastian: Ascalon I presume?

Ascalon: Aye, it hurts me that you don't recognize me doc...

The giant remained impassive. Everyone knew he had amnesia.

Ascalon: I must say, you've still got your big heart from the very beginning, haven't you... It's just a shame. If it were up to me, the kid would already be dead.

Sebastian: Well, like it or not, she's alive.

Ascalon: Accidents happen so quickly, you know...

Sebastian: I won't hesitate to kill you if you try anything.

His answer shocked the sarkaz. She hadn't expected the new doctor to be so assertive.

The young woman smiled.

Ascalon: Very well doc...

Enraged, the giant left.

Amiya opened her eyes, waking up once again in bed. Her room was a mess. And the curtains were poorly closed, letting a little daylight into the room.

She didn't sigh. Her mental state had not improved since the battle of Lungmen. The doctor's temporary death had had a real impact on her.

She picked up her phone, wondering what she could possibly do again today...

Without going out too much.

To view a notification.

A message from the man himself.

'Meet me on the upper deck, I need your help.'

He was back...? The young girl sat up abruptly in bed.

For God's sake, no one had told her the doctor would be back! And now he was calling her!

Without a moment's thought, Amiya pulled on the first clothes she could find and ran out of her room towards the elevators. She was soon on the upper decks of Rhodes, taking her first breath of fresh air in weeks.

His tired blue eyes scanned the deck to see the giant a little further on. Leaning on a railing, looking off into the distance. Over the walls of the mobile city.

She slowly moved closer, trying to see what was wrong. The giant turned to her and smiled, having heard her coming.

Amiya: Dokutah?

Sebastian: Hi. It's good to see you again. Come on over.

The cautus came closer, looking at the horizon like the doctor.

Amiya: Is something wrong?

Sebastian: We need to talk.

The young woman gasped. His simple words were an indicator of shit through all ages...

Sebastian: What's wrong?

The giant asked this simple question. A question that never had such a simple answer. He was worried about the cautus. More than anyone on Rhodes Island could imagine.

Amiya: I'm fine.

Sebastian: Amiya.

He didn't need to listen to her heartbeat. In front of those emerald eyes looking straight at her. So kind, she couldn't bring herself to lie to the good doctor.

Amiya: I...

Sebastian: It's been since the battle.

Amiya: Yes.

She put her hands on the railing too, looking out at the horizon.

Amiya: A lot has happened dokutah... Since you woke up. Many things have changed... Compared to before... All those years when you weren't here... I had only one thing in mind: the day we finally met again... To be strong enough to protect you... To be able to help all of Rhodes Island...

She looked sad of what she said as her eyes reflected the soft sunlight. She wasn't sad like a teenager having a meltdown. Amiya was far beyond that... She was sad like a woman questioning her life choices and her future.

Amiya: And look at me... You're the one who saved everyone at Chernobog from Talulah... You're the one who beat Skullshatterer... And I couldn't protect you... You could have died... For good.

She took a deep breath.

Amiya: All I know how to do is being a pretty decent caster... Outdone already by Eyjafjalla or others. Or lead branch manager meetings...

She lowered her head.

Amiya: Dokutah, I don't deserve to be the leader of Rhodes Island.

The giant looked out at the horizon, his face so bitter. His throat knotted. He opened his heart.

Sebastian: Amiya, you don't become a leader just because you deserve it, dummy. I know some about that. You become a chef through a combination of circumstances. It's afterwards that you deserve it. Look at me... Do you honestly think I deserve to be where I am? An amnesiac whose last memory is a few months old, maybe? I'm still fighting, and every day to feel the illusion that I'm here for a reason.

His grip on the barrier was immense, and Amiya could see it. She looked at the giant with wide-open eyes. One person on this planet she idolized more than anything else. A person who, for her, was nothing but perfection. So when this person came to her level. To show that he was only human. Vulnerable, and plagued by the same doubts she was. She didn't really know where to stand.

Amiya: I'm not able to do it... And I won't be do it... I can fight for it, but I'll never get it...

Sebastian: All you have to do is pretend... Pretend you're a good leader, pretend you deserve to be where you are... After a while, the others won't even notice.

Once again, he was talking about his case, which the cautus could understand.

Amiya: And one day... Is it possible to stop pretending...?

Sebastian: Maybe... I hope so...

Amiya: It doesn't matter... I shouldn't be in charge. You're much more capable than I am, everyone knows that.

Sebastian: No Amiya... I'm not a leader... I'm a soldier. A warrior. That's all I am. You'll never see me sitting on a throne, the only people I can lead are other soldiers. Leaders come in all shapes and sizes. Some good, some bad, some very good, there are plenty of them. But every now and then, there's an exceptional one. A legend. Leaders like that almost never happen. But you know what they all have in common? Do you know what their secret power is? They fight only for the dignity of the weakest. That's what Rhodes Island does, that's what you do. You don't fight so that the infected can survive, but so that they can live and die with dignity. I... I'm not one of those people, Amiya.

He felt a tear roll down his cheek. For he was angry with himself. He had to be honest with the Cautus and with himself. The infected, the weak... If he was with Rhodes Island in the first place, it wasn't for that.

Sebastian: If I'm with you it's because you're all I know... You've given me a role and a purpose in this life and I'm afraid to look any further.

The cautus didn't know what to say. The giant looked so vulnerable just now... As if he'd collapse like a house of cards if she so much as touched him. Was that... That was how he saw her too, just now.

Sebastian: And the battle against the reunion reminded me of that... I'm not the strongest... I'm just one warrior among many... And there are so many people out there who deserve to be in my place more than I do.

Without thinking, she grabbed his hand.

The giant stopped his self-flagellating debacle and looked at the young cautus beside him.

The first thing she'd seen from outside the orphanage was him.

The first thing he'd seen in this world was her.

She was his compass. Guiding his moral actions, showing him where the limits were.

He was her rock. The one who anchored her in place, the one she could cling to to weather the greatest storms.

As sapphires met emeralds. They both knew it.

They complemented each other. Two sides of the same coin.

They needed each other. In a silent exchange between the two of them, they told each other once and for all.

Sebastian: I need to get stronger.

That was his resolution. Ever since his defeat. Amplified by his many defeats over the past month.

Amiya: Then let's do it together. I want to be able to protect you... and all of Rhodes Island...

It was as if she'd tapped into Sebastian's determination. As if to seal their agreement.

The two embraced. Bathing in the warmth and comfort of each other.

Terra was brutal. A single soul had no hope of being able to stand upright in this world, without being crushed, by its ferocious brutality.

Alone, they didn't stand a chance.

Fortunately, they were not alone.

They were two, and at the same time one.

And there they would stand, facing whatever the world might throw at them. Together.

Their embrace lasted an indeterminate time, before they parted. The young girl looked at the much taller man. Feeling something change inside her.

Interrupting them, they both felt a presence emerge from the void not far from them.

Amiya, sensing the darkness approaching them, began to concentrate her arts in the palm of her hand.

A shadowy guard showed himself to the two, and Sebastian motioned to the cautus to be calm. The man dropped to one knee.

Shadow: My Lord.

Sebastian: Speak.

Shadow: I didn't mean to interrupt. It's about Wei Yenwu and Princess Fumizuki.

Sebastian: What is it?

Shadow: He seems to be getting angrier and angrier, and we're afraid he's going to take it out on her.

Sebastian: Well, protect her from anything that might happen-

Shadow: Especially after what happened Friday night.

Sebastian: What happened...?

The shadow took a deep breath before speaking. Shock ran through Amiya again as she heard what he had just said. The sky clouded over in an instant and was streaked with incandescent lightning. The water falling lightly from the sky reached an almost boiling temperature.

Sebastian: He did what?!

His howl could have shaken windows. Animal anger was a feeling he wanted to get rid of. But right now he couldn't help letting it get the better of him. The insatiable beast lurking in his soul demanded blood.

Wei returned to his Penthouse, experiencing an unparalleled anger he couldn't express.

As he passed through the doors, he saw a scene he couldn't quite make out at the time. Fumizuki was standing by the front door, dressed much more simply than usual, with a suitcase in her hand. She looked at him, then took on a disdainful facial expression.

Wei: Where have you been all this time?!

The kirin raised an eyebrow.

Fumizuki: I thought I'd made it clear when I asked you never to speak to me again. And to answer that doesn't really matter now.

She took a step before he started screaming again.

Wei: And where are you going?!

Fumizuki: Away from you and here. You should be satisfied. You can invite all the prostitutes you want.

Wei: You're leaving...

Fumizuki: Indeed. I thought it was already pretty obvious.

He lowered his head slightly, instead of looking down as he usually did. And he showed his fangs. This week had been nothing but trouble, humiliation... Oh and he was going to get even for everything he felt at the time.

Wei: You're not going anywhere... I'll love to break you like all the others...

His face and mind descended into madness.

Wei: Grab her!

Sebastian: YENWU!

A howl seemed to come from the depths of the underworld, and yet it only came from the elevator exit on this floor.

The Lung felt fear run through him, as the air suddenly became unbreathable and so hot it stuck to his skin.

The beast appeared at the other end of the corridor. Sebastian looked the most bestial of all. His skin was streaked with black veins, and lightning emanated from his body. His red eyes looked at only one thing: the Lung, who was quickly overcome by terror.

Wei: Stop him!

The first of the lung's loyalist shadow guards emerged from his hiding place and threw himself at the giant.

The giant caught him in mid-air, hurling himself towards him with a speed that no one could grasp. Not even the shadow guard, who couldn't even dodge. Sebastian grabbed him by the shoulder with one hand, and his other hand came to rest on his head. He opened his jaw wide, pulled the man towards him and tore out his throat with his teeth, in an act of unspeakable, terrifying brutality.

His anger fueled his body to full throttle, fueling it with incredible strength and speed. What's more, his act of barbarity ensured that all the other shadow guards who would have attacked him remained quiet.

But he didn't care. Because he had one target, and one target only.

He lunged at Wei and, as Fumizuki looked on in terror, grabbed him by the throat and hurled him further into the Penthouse, landing him on a table that shattered on impact.

The doctor ran back to the Lung, who didn't have time to get up, and then started punching him in the face with such anger and animality that he no longer looked like the noble fighter he used to be.

Sebastian: You motherfucker! You try to rape her, not once but twice?! I'm going to fucking kill you!

He continued to hit the Lung.

Fumizuki: Doctor, stop!

The kirin was getting scared. Seeing this man she liked so much... And so angry...

The giant rose to his feet as he felt an attack coming from behind him, killing another shadow guard in a flash. In the meantime the Lung got up.

Seeing this, the doctor kicked him in the side of the knee, shattering his leg, then followed up with another kick that sent him flying into the glass wall of the Penthouse. The armored glass fractured. As he slid down the glass.

Fumizuki: Doctor, please stop, you'll kill him!

Sebastian: That's the point.

He approached Wei and placed his foot against his ribcage, crushing him against the bay window and preventing him from breathing.

Sebastian: Look at her... After all you've done to her... She's begging for your life...

He reached down and grabbed the Lung's mouth, threatening to break it with a flick of his hand.

Sebastian: You don't deserve her! You don't deserve one hundredth of her kindness you son of whore! And yet she accepts that you can sully this planet for even longer with your presence!

Fumizuki was surprised.

All that anger... was it for her? The giant had gotten so angry just for her? In a way, she was touched.

Sebastian: I'll let you live... But I'll make sure you never forget.

He smashed the glass with the lung's skull as a club, causing the wind to rush into the room. Then he looked down at the shards of glass on the window surround, and rammed the lung's head into the shards of glass, before scraping it down the length of the window.

The scream he let out was excruciating, and the pain he felt even more so. The giant let him go, satisfied with his revenge.

Then he stood up, taking a few steps.

Despite all the pain, Wei managed to say a few words...

Wei: What you just did... It's a declaration of war... The whole Yan army is going after Rhodes Island- !

Sebastian: Because you think it scares me?!

He turned back to the lung, his whole being seething with anger.

Sebastian: If I ever find out you've touched a single one of her hair... And I will! I may be on the other side of the world, you may put every army in the world in my path, and more! It will take me less than ten seconds to come and kill you! I swear it!

The two human beings looked at the ferocious beast, and could see that he wasn't lying. There was no intimidation in his words, no persuasion. He was one hundred percent serious and honest.

Such a thing, Wei was terrified.

Who would dare challenge Yan and his mighty armies?

He dared.

Sebastian: Remember my words, snake.

He started to leave. Motioning to Fumizuki to come with him. The two soon found themselves in the elevator going down. The kirin looked around. Not really knowing what to say, or what to do... Now that the tension had eased, she was just happy to have seen her knight in armor arrive... It didn't matter whether it was shiny or tinged with blood.

As for the giant, he seemed to be gradually calming down. The air became at an acceptable temperature and quality, and his body returned to normal. After a while, he took a deep sigh.

Sebastian: Sorry.

Surprised, the kirin looked at him. Why was he apologizing? Then she understood that he felt ashamed to have shown the beast that usually slumbered. The princess smiled, before taking the doctor's hand.

Fumizuki: Don't apologize.

She said, her smile soothing the giant's heart.

Sebastian: I... You're a wonderful woman, Fumizuki, so I can't get used to the idea of this scumbag hurting you.

She felt touched. Their eyes met, but the giant still seemed embarrassed. Perhaps he really did have feelings for her, she thought to herself in her inner self.

Fumizuki: I won't let him.

Sebastian: Me neither.

The elevator reached its destination.

Fumizuki: You're leaving Lungmen.

She said with a semblance of sadness.

Sebastian: Yeah.

Fumizuki: Take care of Ch'en for me, will you?

The giant laughed lightly. She looked like a worried mother at that moment.

Sebastian: Of course.

The giant took a few steps out of the elevator. Before taking one last look at the kirin.

Sebastian: Hey, if you ever want to grab a drink. Send me a message.

He said with a smile before turning back to the kirin.

Fumizuki: Even if you're far away?

She said with a slight, amused smile.

Sebastian: Then I'll come flying!

He greeted her one last time with a wave of his hand.

And the elevator door closed again, taking Fumizuki to the parking lot.

*badump*

She suddenly began to blush, before lowering her head and putting a hand to her chest.

What an indecent old woman she was... to love like a young girl.

Sebastian finally returned to Rhodes Island, tired after an emotional day...

Nearl: Seb?

He raised his head.

And even richer.

There in front of his office door stood the one and only.

Their eyes met, and it didn't take long for them to embrace. With her head pressed against his chest, she could hear his heart beating at breakneck speed.

Sebastian: One month... It was endless...

Nearl: Yes...

Words... Whether those they could have passed on to each other at the time, or those that your humble servant could have written at the time. There would never be enough words put end to end to express what they felt.

The young woman removed her head from the giant's chest, and he lowered his, resting his forehead against hers. Sharing his tenderness without a word.

Nearl: I bet you've got a lot to tell me.

Sebastian: You can't imagine how much.

They returned to his office, and chatted for hours on his sofa, one beside the other. Enjoying each other's company as much as they could, and discussing what had happened over the last few weeks.

Sebastian: There you go... A good rush of punches and that was it...

Nearl: And you say the reason for all this light... was your arts?

Sebastian: Yeah... I don't know exactly how, but it was like that fight against the reunion. I just used my arts at full throttle without really understanding how...

Nearl: Wait, how did you use your arts without a catalyst?

She asked as she took a sip of the tea the doctor had lovingly prepared for her.

Sebastian: Oh, I felt them go through my dagger.

Nearl: Your dagger?

Sebastian: Yeah, I wanted to talk to you about that.

He concentrated and made it appear in his hand. Nearl's animal ears perked up in surprise as the weapon appeared from particles of light. And even more so when she could see it. The giant handed it to her and the young woman took it in her hands as if it were a real treasure.

Sebastian: This weapon is weird. I've slashed a few sarkazs, or gangsters, and they immediately turned to dust. Whereas I have trouble cutting myself with it.

She still looked at the object with almost shocked eyes.

Nearl: This weapon... how did you get it?

Sebastian: Oh, I got it at the slum market, I was walking around and a woman gave it to me. A Kuranta who looked like you-

Nearl: Was she blind...?

The giant frowned.

Sebastian: Yeah. How did you know.

The young woman gave the dagger back to the giant before rising without a word to search the library.

Nearl: I recognized the way it was made. As any Kazimierz person would at first glance.

Sebastian: Really?

Nearl: I'm sure I've seen it here somewhere... Ahhere!

She picked up one of the books and turned back to Sebastian, who still didn't understand a thing. He read the title.

Sebastian: Myths and history of Kazimierz...

A kind of textbook.

She came to a page and let out a sigh of satisfaction before showing the book to the giant.

The giant looked at the pages and recognized a large drawing that perfectly represented his weapon.

Sebastian: That's my dagger...?

Nearl: Dawnlight. It's a legendary weapon, Seb. Are you familiar with the Kazimierz foundation?

Sebastian: The first king?

Nearl: Yes, Kazimierz was founded by the first nameless king.

She presented a front page in the book, a photo of a painting, depicting a man in armor on a battlefield, a raceless man with long blond hair like a lion's mane.

Sebastian: I've come to think of the raceless as rather common.

Nearl: Dawnlight is one of the artifacts given by the mother goddess of Kazimierz to the first king. It was lost to history... but here it is... in your hands.

Sebastian: You're implying that...

The kuranta placed a hand on her heart and closed her eyes. Showing a certain believing side that the giant had never seen in her.

Nearl: She is daughter, mother and wife. Goddess of love and light. Beautiful and radiant as the day. Blind to the atrocities of the world. Swiatla. Nobody believes in her anymore... But I think she's the one who gave you that dagger. In person.

The giant remained incredibly calm. After all, it had already started to make sense a long time ago...

Sebastian: If you say so.

He began to scrutinize the book a little more.

Nearl: There are other artifacts... But the most important are Rigel. The sword of light.

She turned another page of the book, showing a depiction of a sword planted in a stone base.

Nearl: Only he or she who is worthy will be able to draw the sword. It's in Kazimierz.

Sebastian: 'another excalibur or legendary sword on the cheap side...'.

Hey! Be a bit more respectful would you ?!

Well, there she was...

Of course I'm here. I sleep now and then too, you know. I can't be constantly by your side.

Nearl: And the most important by far.

She turned the pages again, showing a very detailed drawing of a suit of armor. Simply magnificent.

Nearl: The king's armor. Only the first king was able to put it on and move in it. Other Kazimierz kings followed with a similar build. But none managed to move in it... It's the ultimate sign of authority... Similar to the civilight aeterna of the sarkaz.

Sebastian: And where is it?

Nearl: in Kawarleiki. But the exact location is highly secret.

He looked at the book for a while.

Sebastian: Well, I have a magic knife given to me by a goddess. Cool.

The kuranta tapped him on the shoulder.

Nearl: You've been chosen by a great goddess! Rejoice, she must have great plans for you!

Sebastian: Maybe.

He lowered his head.

Sebastian: But I have no idea what these projects might be... So we'll have to wait until we get to Kazimierz to find out, I guess.

Nearl: by the way...

Sebastian: I'll soon be asking Rhodes Island to leave. Don't worry, we'll go to Kazimierz.

The kuranta smiled. He had seen beauty during this month. But Sebastian could have sworn he'd never seen a more beautiful sight than this.

Nearl: Thank you...

The giant looked to the horizon, seeing Lungmen receding into the distance. And realized it was rather late at night. He got up and climbed the steps to his apartments.

Sebastian: Hungry?

He said in the kitchen. And needed no reply from the kuranta. She took off her armor and gloves, depositing them in a corner, and came to sit at the table in the kitchen. Watching the man at work in the kitchen. Her bushy tail swishing vigorously left and right.

After a few moments, she could see who was making her favorite dish. A simple beef carrot stew. Immediately the young Kuranta felt blessed among all women...

Having the person you like make your favorite food... She remembered that this was what Orchid had defined as one of the best things in married life...

Eh... At least she had a taste of it early on.

Once they'd finished their meal, they could see that the sun was setting on the horizon.

Sebastian: Wanna get drunk?

Nearl: Oh yeah!

Ch'en/Hoshiguma: Cheers!

Sebastian: Don't worry, Natalya, I've been watching your results, and you're really improving.

Midnight: Hey girl, another drink-

*bonk*

Catapult: That's THE Sora you're talking to, watch out!

Siege: Hm the scotch isn't bad.

Ace: Yeah, I know. Choice of brand is mine.

Indra: Doc another round around here!

Blaze: Yeah! I'm going to roll you under the table!

Sebastian: Coming right up!

The bar was packed that evening... And bless the social lubricant to help integrate new members more quickly. The atmosphere was perfect. Energetic but far from messy.

The giant was behind the bar at Sora's side, filling the ladies' glasses with beer, then as he handed them over, the lupo next to him, gave him a little nudge with her hip. Slightly to the side.

She gave him a mischievous smile, while the giant rolled his eyes, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. Then, as soon as she let her guard down, he did the same. But only with his strength and muscle mass.

The young woman was thrown with a little more force, letting out a slight cry of surprise and spilling the liquors she was mixing all over herself.

The few witnesses to the scene laughed at the doctor's vengeance.

Then Sora glanced at the doctor, before smiling in amusement herself and removing her jacket to reveal the white shirt underneath.

Sebastian: So, where were we?

Rosa: My math results...

The young ursine seemed less than thrilled. One thing had been made clear tonight. Even more competitors for the doctor's heart had joined the race. And Rosa seemed well aware of this fact.

Sebastian: Ah yes, excuse me.

As the giant resumed the discussion, quickly regaining the girl's attention, the bar door opened.

Irina: Yo doc this is where the booze at?

The ursine immediately broke down. She recognized many of those who had been there tonight. For many of them had been there during the fight against the reunion. And it wasn't easy to forget a face as beautiful as Irina's, especially when it almost killed you.

The doctor said nothing, taking a deep sip of his cognac and looking at her.

Irina: Uh... I'll come back-

Dobermann: Doctor... It's her.

Some were about to draw their weapons, and Irina was simply terrified.

Andreana: What's she doing here?!

The giant put down his glass and stood up straight, taller than anyone in the room, all eyes on him.

Sebastian: Okay. I'm only going to say it once, so everyone listen up. This is Irina, I think everyone recognizes her and that's good because she's now part of the operators.

Some were shocked to hear this. The giant's gaze hardened at this.

Sebastian: And I don't want to hear it. She's won and completely earned my trust. If you want reasons, just ask anyone who was with me during last week.

Sora felt she had to do something.

Sora: Just last night. She stood between us and a bomb to protect the whole team...

Sebastian: And then I'd like to remind you that if you're a bit angry, don't forget that I'm the one who had to suffer the most from her hands and I forgave her.

Some of the operators exchanged glances, the alcohol clouding their vision a little, but the doctor's words quickly brought them back to reality, and to accept it. Nearl looked at the giant, uncertain. But he only nodded.

The kuranta then looked at the ursine and met her gaze, then pointed to a vacant seat at the bar. Pleased by this simple but cordial gesture, the ursine smiled. Then, following the kuranta's example, many people began to look kindly on the ursine.

The giant began to smile.

Sebastian: And if you're ever unhappy to have an ex-reunion leader here, tell yourself there are others far worse.

He said, raising his glass straight at W.

W: Oh fuck you!

Most of the operators present burst out laughing. Then the bar door opened again, letting Amiya in.

Once again, many people fell silent to look at their CEO. Who hardly anyone had seen for a month.

She was now washed, well-dressed and looked rested. Then the cautus's gaze met Irina's.

Then, to everyone's astonishment, Amiya simply smiled.

Amiya: Irina, right? Welcome to Rhodes Island.

The cautus smiled, and moved over to the bar. Irina was surprised, then went and sat down too, and the discussion resumed. The giant apologized to Rosa before joining Irina. The young woman looked depressed.

The giant took out a glass.

Irina: I spoke with Kal'tsit.

He gave her a double dose without thinking.

Sebastian: So.

Irina: We talked about my father... She was a good scientist alongside him and Lyudmila's father.

She took a sip.

Irina: She wasn't the traitor. It was my father.

Sebastian: Oh...

Irina: Ursus had threatened to kill Misha and my mother... So he threw it all away... Kal'tsit showed me all the evidence. It's indisputable.

She looked at the bottom of her glass.

Sebastian: How are you?

Irina: Doc... I've spent the last seven years chasing my past... Almost half my life. Trying to find those responsible for my misfortune... But in the end, no one is directly responsible...

The giant lowered his head.

Sebastian: It's often like that.

Irina: It was one of the few things that made me believe life was simple in its execution... that and the reunion... But now... I don't know. The only person I'm angry at is Talulah for telling me shit, but at the same time I feel sorry for her. I know she's changed... Something must have happened to her. But still... I feel like I've finished a book with no sequel, and then I realize there's nothing more to do.

Sebastian: Shall I tell you what it is?

Irina: Go on?

Sebastian: A touch of old age.

He said with a smile.

Sebastian: being there, then suddenly realizing you don't know what to do next.

Irina: Heh... So I guess now we're two old people in young bodies...

She said before smiling and finishing her drink in one gulp.

Irina: But if I really want to become a woman I'll need your help with that.

She winked at the giant, who soon turned as red as a tomato.

What filth... She was never going to let go.

The giant turned away from her, and glanced at Amiya, who seemed back in top form.

He looked out at the bay window. Seeing Lungmen slowly disappear from his sight.

Finally...

Nearl: Seb the TV!

The giant grabbed the remote control and turned up the volume, silencing a large number of people.

Mob: Hey hey it's your dear, devoted Greatmouth mob speaking to you live from Kazimierz! The Major's new season is fast approaching! Time for glory! For combat! And the show! Registration for the Major is already closed, and this year, oh yes this year, exceptional fighters will battle it out before your astonished eyes!

Everyone began to concentrate on what was happening on TV. Nearl and Sebastian immediately sobered up to the seriousness of the situation.

Mob: Both Titus Topola, the left-handed knight, and Szewczyk, the plastic knight, are making their comebacks this season! As well as newcomers such as the Pinus Sylvestris-infected club, which we'll be keeping a close eye on! But! But but but but but! The most exciting part is yet to come, dear spectators! A great family... Fallen... Forgotten! Reappears this season, with Maria! Neearlll!

As the TV scrolled through portraits of the various competitors, it finally showed a young, blonde Kuranta.

Everyone in the room was surprised and turned to Nearl, who remained unmoved. As for Sebastian, he took on the appearance of the young woman he was supposed to protect.

In a way, she was a Margaret sosy, only a little younger and a lot cuter and more innocent.

Mob: Yes, you heard me right! The Nearl family is back for this major! And finally... My superiors have told me that one last spectacular fighter will be making an appearance during the major and will remain anonymous until then. Isn't that exciting?! Even your humble servant has no idea who it could be! But I've been promised that it will be even bigger than the return of the Nearl! Follow the competition on Kawalerielki sports TV!

The giant looked at Nearl and both nodded before she was peppered with questions.

At least they knew their next direction.

It was rather early in the morning on Rhodes Island, and this was the operators' favorite time to work out. That's why the gym was so crowded. Some were using the machines, others were out on the training field. Even the most recent recruits had found their way to the sports field. Angelina, for example, was playing basketball with Irina and other operators, as were Ch'en and Hoshiguma. The oni having convinced the lung to take part in a work-out session...

The poor thing thought she was going to die as she was pushed so far beyond her capabilities. But further.

Indra: Ah god fookin hell..

She said as she reached the ground, after taking a nasty punch in the ring.

Opposite her stood Saria, barely breaking a sweat, while the feline felt as if she'd given the fight of her life.

Saria: Not bad.

Indra: Not bad?! I feel like I've been run over by a truck!

Many people were waiting near the ring, ready to challenge the champion. And they were all increasingly discouraged by her monstrous fighting ability. Then their hope arrived in the form of a well-known figure.

Indra: Yo doc!

Even for the operators who'd been on Rhodes Island since his return, it was quite a surprise to see him in the gym. After all, he always trained early in the morning, when no one was up. But now he seemed ready to put in a little effort. Some people were interested by his arrival. Especially when they could see that he was wearing a t-shirt, a little tighter than his shirt, which showed off his extraordinary build even more.

The giant approached the ring with a smile, as Gavial approached him.

Gavial: Hey doc, we'd all like to see how your fight with the lady here turns out.

The archosauria had approached him and seemed quite amused to see these two strong people fighting. The giant looked at Saria before laughing slightly.

Sebastian: No thanks... I don't want her to smash me again...

All the fighters about to challenge the vouivre fell apart.

SHE had managed to beat the doctor... so none of them here stood a chance. They all moved slowly away from the ring and Saria saw this and shrugged, before returning to the punching bags.

Sebastian felt someone approach him from behind, and turned to see Nearl.

Nearl: it's strange to see you here among the others.

Sebastian: ...

He took a second to admire the kuranta's physique. After all, he'd never seen her outside the clothes she wore under her armor.

Boy, was he glad to be back in Rhodes.

Sebastian: I've decided to double my training regime.

Nearl: Oh really? Speaking of which, I hear they're finally reopening the pool.

Sebastian: Ah cool. I prefer it to the classic gym to be honest.

Nearl: Me too, let's go together.

The young woman seemed optimistic, and the doctor's perverse side couldn't help imagining Nearl in a swimsuit.

Sebastian: I'd just have to go buy a swimsuit but yeah.

Nearl: You haven't received any offers yet?

she asked, legitimately intrigued.

Sebastian: offers?

Nearl: Oh, did you know that a good number of operators are contacted by fashion brands to do photo shoots?

Sebastian: Oh yeah, that's right.

Nearl: Even I received an offer from Coral coast. And you can keep the clothes, so I kept the swimsuit. I'm just surprised you haven't received one yet... After all...

She looked at him for a second, blushing slightly.

Sebastian: Pervert.

The kuranta blushed intensely before giving him a light punch.

Nearl: Train yourself...

He laughed out loud, perfectly amused, before walking over to a tire and grabbing a demolition hammer. Many looked at the doctor, all curious about his training.

After all, to have such strength, and such a physique, many thought they could imitate the perfect training he seemed to be used to.

After the first fifteen minutes, half of those watching were discouraged.

Half an hour into his training, everyone was terrified.

After an hour, some of them begged him to stop.

No one would consider following his self-imposed training. Even less so when they realized he was doing it twice a day.

Every day.

They used to wonder how the doctor could be so strong, and have such a perfect body, but there was no mystery anymore. He trained to the point where anyone would have torn his muscles or broken his bones.

The giant took a few moments to stop and rest. What was most terrifying. He was sweating and looked like he'd made a good effort, but seemed capable of so much more.

Midnight: Hey doc!

He turned to see some operators who'd arrived in the gym not too long ago. A good bunch of guys.

Steward: Ace said you had a tattoo on your back, is that true?

The giant acted as an almost fraternal figure to the young men who were operators. He laughed heartily.

Sebastian: Oh, it's nothing.

Many people took an interest in the discussion, curious to hear about the doctor's new peculiarity. After all, tattoos were extremely unusual in Terra for some reason.

Dobermann: I... Bet you it's... an army thing...

She said breathlessly to the kuranta beside her. The two young women having engaged in a race. Just before.

Nearl: You're still sticking to your theory.

Never go on a race with a kuranta.

A/N: Uma musume EN when ?

Dobermann: No.

The giant took off his shirt and turned his back to the men.

Revealing the tattoo on his back. The large double-headed eagle, marked with a star and wearing a crown. With Cyrillic letters.

And all could see even better the result of the doctor's efforts. His body was as if carved from the purest marble, seeming to imitate the gods of Minos. One might have expected someone as gigantic as he was to be out of proportion.

But perfect wasn't even enough to describe him. He was the epitome of a warrior, every muscle and joint seemingly made for one thing only. Combat. He seemed powerful, yet supple and quick.

His muscles bulging, and glistening in the light from sweat...

Had its effect, let's say.

Nearl turned completely red, while Dobermann had a geyser of blood gushing from her nose. And the giant was pretty sure he heard someone faint.

Hung: Wow doctor! You're fucking ripped!

And among all that mess. Some were totally silent, and seemed shocked when they saw the doctor's tattoo.

This symbol. It was reputed to be that of the emperor's blades.

Of course, Sebastian had had this tattoo since his first life. But coincidences often had a certain influence on him...

Sebastian: Is there anyone who wants to spar with me?

And of course he was far from finished with his training.

He looked at Nearl, his usual partner, but the young woman nodded no, still exhausted from all the sport she'd been doing.

In fact, no one seemed ready for the challenge.

Amiya: I don't mind.

The voice came from behind him. The giant turned to look at the young cautus.

She was wearing a t-shirt, a track suit and sports shoes.

It was a surprise for everyone. Here. It was already unusual to see Amiya at the gym.

But who on Rhodes Island would have expected the cautus to be ready to lay a hand on her beloved doctor...

The giant grinned. He and she understood each other. And it seemed that her will to become stronger was starting now.

The two walked to the training ground.

Some watched the fight with interest. After all, it would be quite a spectacle to see the two big bosses of Rhodes Island battling it out. Others wondered whether this fight was really sensible... After all, the doctor was no less than 70 centimetres taller than the girl. And he must have had 100 kg more muscle than her... So... was it really fair...?

The giant hadn't bothered to get dressed. And as the two were separated by several meters, he spoke.

Sebastian: I won't hold back.

Amiya: I hope so.

This was the ultimate vote of confidence they could give each other, as fighters. There was no greater insult than holding back against your opponent. And they both wanted to progress, so there was no room for restraint.

The giant was the first to attack, and he went to punch the young girl in the skull, but Amiya saw the attack coming and deflected it with her hand before lifting her leg and kicking the doctor's chin in an impressive display of flexibility. The shockwave was thunderous.

Sebastian stepped back slightly, but far from being thrown off balance, he delivered a lightning-fast sweep, knocking the cautus off her feet, but before she even had time to hit the ground, he followed up with another punch to the face.

The young girl took the full brunt of the attack. Crashing to the ground.

Before the giant had time to attack again, the cautus made an inhuman leap with her hands several meters away before landing on her feet again, hoping back and forth with fists raised in a low guard.

As for the giant, he too stood on guard, seemingly conserving his energy. He took up a fairly wide guard, his palms pointing towards his opponent.

The doctor smiled, then spat a trickle of blood into his mouth that he'd earned from the kick he'd taken. The cautus cracked her neck with a little movement, but beyond that she seemed perfectly healthy.

The warm-up was over.

Once again, it was the giant who was the first to begin the assault. He charged forward and delivered a heel strike to the girl's upper body, she dodged the attack, but the giant continued his run, taking advantage of the momentum he already had to deliver an elbow strike to the cautus. Surprised, the young girl raised her arm to cushion the blow to her head. Her brain pinged in her skull from the force of the impact. But in a final flash of consciousness, she managed to tear herself away from the giant's attack and deflect it in the same direction as his kick, knocking him slightly away from her.

Then the cautus delivered a monstrous punch to the side of his face. In a flash, the giant threw a back kick, which the cautus blocked, having just moved away from the doctor. The raceless man threw himself into the attack immediately, trying to grab the cautus by the head with both hands, but the girl beat him to it, running towards him before he had time to catch her. She put both hands behind his neck and jumped forward, raising her knee. The giant took advantage of this proximity to throw his headbut.

The knee strike to the chin, the headbutt at the same moment, the impact was so strong that the dust around them was swept away. Both stepped back from each other, stunned by the immense impact.

Onlookers were shocked. One thing was certain. Amiya was indeed playing toe-to-toe with the doctor.

This caster, who rarely fought on the front line, was skilled enough to take on Sebastian and not give him a moment's rest.

Everyone was in awe. In a flash, she seemed to have transformed into a real fighter. Sebastian, too, seemed to surprise the few here who had already faced him.

His fighting style seemed to have changed at its very foundation.

The two looked at each other and smiled.

The puzzle of which they were both the main pieces was finally starting to look like something. Maybe it was that click Amiya had felt, or that bond Sebastian had accepted.

But both had changed, yet remained the same. Why had Amiya become so strong? As if the war had become part of her DNA? Why was Sebastian able to read her emotions so easily? As if he could read minds?

Both seemed to be slowly rubbing off on the other, although it was Amiya who was the most visibly impacted.

But why?

Why did these two seem so connected?

The only person on the entire planet who had the answer, had seen her head detached from her body.

She wouldn't answer to anyone on the subject...

Well, not for much longer...

The two combatants resumed their dance under the admiring gaze of the others. A true communion between two souls, two people who silenced their words and made their bodies speak. Giving their bodies, minds and souls to each other, out of sheer respect for whoever stood in front of them.

Not a training session, not a confrontation. But combat, in its purest form. Untainted by hatred, animosity and fear.

If all the spectators continued to watch, right to the end, it was because the masterpiece of all confrontation was unfolding before them.

It was a real thunderclap when the fight ended. A second of inattention, and Sebastian followed up with three jabs in such rapid succession that no one could see them.

Amiya was thrown metres away. And strangely enough, the few minor wounds she had received had already healed themselves.

Amiya: Damn it! I had a dust in my eye !

The giant laughed heartily.

Sebastian: Well... Looks like I'm winning this one.

The giant walked over to the young woman and extended his hand.

Sebastian: Not bad.

Amiya: Thank you.

She took his hand and the giant lifted her to her feet. As for the spectators, they began to applaud, surprising the two combatants.

The giant looked at his bracelet to see what time it was.

Sebastian: Aye, I'm going to be late... I'm off!

He hurried to collect his belongings before leaving. Leaving the cautus alone in the middle of the crowd.

She looked around.

Amiya: Anyone up for another fight?

No one took up the challenge.

Rosa was sitting in this chair, playing with her pen because of the stress. She looked around and could see that she wasn't the only one who was nervous. After all, the classrooms were where most of their worries were. Fortunately, others didn't seem as stressed by the situation.

At least classes started at ten o'clock now, not seven...

Student 1: Hey, what do you think the new teacher looks like?

Student 2: My money's on a new girl they hired on purpose.

Student 1: Oh, think with some fantasy! My money's on a handsome blond and-

Student 3: Seriously? You girls could have read in the e-mails we got that the teacher's name was Sebastian. And if it's a male professor, don't expect a model, it's probably a little guy hiding behind his books and glasses.

The door to the room opened, letting in a colossal figure. Rosa immediately smiled.

Sebastian: Hello everyone.

He said in an enthusiastic voice before setting down some of his belongings on the desk in the corner of the room, before grabbing a pen and moving to the blackboard.

Sebastian: I'll be your new teacher, Mr. Sebastian. But you can call me whatever you like.

He said, finishing writing down a few things, including the date, before turning around, looking at his students for the first time, a big smile on his lips.

Sebastian: I know you may not be happy to find yourself in a classroom again.

He said, making some people laugh slightly.

Sebastian: And I also know that we have several levels in this class. That, and the fact that we'll only see each other four hours a day, means we're going to have to work hard.

He looked carefully at the room in front of him.

Sebastian: 'Kal'tsit, I hate you.'

His entire class. Twenty-two people. There was one boy. And they were all looking at him.

He felt like a juicy steak thrown into a lion's den.

Or being thrown into a nest of pedophile bait.

The next few months would be very long for him.

Sebastian: I'm glad to finally meet you all.

Far from here...

A woman stood beneath a tree, its branches covered with golden flower petals. She stood up, and turned her head to the west. Not looking, her vision cut off by her blindfold.

?: Come to me, my champion.

Near this place...

Blemishine: But it's so heavy that armor! How did she move with it on?! Hiiiiyaaa! *breathes hard* I think I should work out more...
