It was late after the party that Prof. Oak and Delia had returned home while Tracey went with Daisy to the gym. In Delia's house, she was helping Mr. Mime to take care of a few things until Looker arrived and gave her some great news, but with a few extra details.

"You mean, I can remain home, now?" Delia questioned in disbelief, being very shocked at the news.

"You are permitted to remain here, yes. Everything has been arranged for you to stay here as long as our other agents remain close by. No telling if both the teams are after you. Especially since they're after Prof. Oak as well." Looker informed her.

"It doesn't matter to me. As long as I can stay with Mimey, things will be great." Delia stated, feeling less stressed.

"Still, though. You need to be careful. There's no telling if…where did you put your necklace?" he asked her.

"Oh. With how things have been going, I left it up in my room." She informed him.

"Well, regardless. I think both teams will not only be after that necklace, but possibly you as well." Looker informed her.

"What teams are causing this much trouble?" she asked him.

He looked at her with a very stern face. "Team Rocket and Team Plasma." He told her,

The following day, after everyone had left Silver Town. The sun was beginning to rise over the forest they were in. The two of them were in the tent, in their individual sleeping bags, but Misty was resting her head on his chest. Her arm was wrapped around him as she buried her face into his chest a bit more. Ash barely woke up and looked down to her, seeing she was asleep on his chest. He smiled at her, closed his eyes, and wrapped his arm around her back. A smile came onto her face on instinct as Ash continued to sleep a bit longer.

It wasn't long until she began to stir and picked her head up slightly. She looked at him, a smile on her face. She went up to him and kissed his cheek before getting up, getting her shoes on and she went outside to start breakfast. She saw the sun coming up and their Pokémon were starting to get up. Along with Ash's team: Pidgeotto, Sandile, Pidove, Quilava and Gible.

It wasn't long until Ash's eyes opened, and he smelled breakfast being cooked. Sitting up he saw Misty's sleeping bag empty, and he looked and saw Pikachu was gone as well. He had only one thought as he got himself ready and got out of the tent.

"AAHHH!" Misty screamed and after Ash heard this, he ran out of the tent fast.

"Misty! What's…" he started until he saw Misty was on a tree branch. Right below her was a Weedle. "Well, that's a relief." Ash said to himself, and he went over to the Weedle.

"J-j-just get that thing away from me." She told Ash.

"Just calm down, Mist." Ash told her as he picked up the bug Pokémon. He released it next to a bush. "There ya go." He told it and the Pokémon crawled off.

"G-g-good." Misty said as she watched it go away. "Man, I hate bugs." She stated.

"If you're ready, you can come down now." Ash told her as he walked back over to her.

"That might be a bit difficult." she told him.

"Then just drop down. I'll catch you." He told her as he held out his arms.

"Are you sure?" she questioned him.

"Of course, Mist." He told her as he smiled.

"Okay…" she replied very hesitantly. She maneuvered herself on the tree branch and Ash positioned himself until she managed to drop down.

After she dropped down, Ash managed to catch her. After feeling that she landed in his arms, she looked up at him and he her. "See! Told ya I got you." He told her with a smile.

"Th-th-thanks." She replied as she blushed. From there he put her down and she still blushed a bit. "I do hope you're ready for breakfast." She told him.

"You bet. I'm starving." He replied and went with her over to the fire.

Misty giggled at him. "Your stomach definitely never changes." She remarked as they walked side-by-side.

"I can tell your fear of bugs hasn't changed either." Ash recalled as well.

"Only because I still don't like them." Misty replied as she shuttered a bit. "I remember you guys having bug-types, but I grew used to them." She reminded him.

"I remember that. Took you a while to get used to my first bug-type" he recalled as she stared out into space once they reached where Misty was cooking.

"I still remember what happened years ago." Misty stated.

"I remember that too and I don't know if I'll ever get to see Butterfree again." He said a bit sadly.

Misty nearly had the first plate ready and went over to him and hugged his side. "I remember that night. You were very sad." She said to him.

"I still remember you helped to comfort me. It was my first time having to release one of my Pokémon." Ash stated.

"Pika pi ka-chu pika chu. (I do remember that.)" Pikachu remarked.

Ash then returned Misty's hug and she nuzzled her head into his neck. "I remember how you managed to get me to move on." He said to her.

She looked up and smiled at him. "It's something I'll always do to help you. I can't leave one of my best friends in that kind of despair." She told him.

"Pika pika, Pikapi. (Same here, Ash.)" Pikachu told him as he patted his side.

"Thanks Misty, Pikachu. You two are the best." He told them.

Not long after they had their breakfast, they began to do the dishes on, while a small fire burned. The two of them noticed this and they didn't have much wood to keep the water warm.

"I'll head out into the forest and grab up some more sticks for us to wash the dishes before we head out." Misty told him.

"Gotcha, Mist. I'll start packing a few items until you get back." He told her.

From there, Misty went into the woods for a bit while Ash packed. Misty had picked up a few sticks, not knowing someone was watching her. "There. That should do it." Misty said to herself. "Hopefully Ash will have a few things packed before I get back." She added.

She began to turn around until she heard a twig snap. "Huh?" she wondered. "Hello! Is anyone there?" she asked. She looked around for a minute and saw no one. "Strange. I thought I heard something." She said to herself.

She turned and about started for camp until she accidentally faced someone very familiar. "Hello, Misty." Someone said.

She instantly knew who the person was. "AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH." She screamed at the top of her lungs.

Ash immediately heard this as did Pikachu and the rest of the Pokémon. "Did you guys hear that?" he asked them. They each confirmed in their own language.

"Come on, Pikachu." Ash called out before he looked at the others. "The rest of you. Stay here until we get back." He ordered before he ran in the direction he saw Misty walk in.

As he ran in her direction, the same guy was trying to prevent Misty from screaming with his hand over her mouth as he held her by her arm. "Wait-wait, please! Don't scream. I don't' want him to know that I'm here." He told Misty. She gasped in his mouth in realization that Ash would be on his way as the guy who was holding her like this was Zack. "Please, Mist…" after that she managed to get free, and she slapped him again.

"You little creep. How dare you. I'm not interested in you at all! And the only boy who can call me that is Ash, unless it's one of my friends or my sisters." She told him, completely furious. "Besides that, how did you even find me!" she demanded.

"I-I…I managed to…" "Follow us. That's even worse. I might have followed Ash years ago, but that became different reasons." She told him.

"I remember what all you told me, even where you began to fall in love with him?" he questioned her. "What kind of guy leaves the girl that loves him!" he claimed.

"I had no other choice IF you remember. I respected that he had a journey to go on and I had my gym leader duties." She reminded him. "Right now, I'm back on a journey with him; and I'd rather be with him!" she reminded Zack. "As for you, you're not even worth being with. You still can't take a simple 'no' from a girl you're having an obsession with." She told him as she tried to walk away. He only got furious with her, grabbing her, and pinning her against a tree, hard. She yelped in pain a bit.

"You listen here! You're my girlfriend, not his. He had his blasted chance with you and blew it." He claimed as he went in to kiss her. "You're mine." He told her as he was about to force her into a kiss.

She gasped as he was about to. "Ash! If you heard my scream, please hurry!" she exclaimed in her thoughts.

"YOU!" a voice they both knew exclaimed. "KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF OF HER." The voice yelled. They both looked and before Zack knew it, Ash had run up and punched him across the face, being very careful not to hit Misty at all.

Misty gasped as he punched Zack off her and he panted a bit. From there she looked at Ash then to Zack, seeing he was barely getting up and she looked back to Ash as he panted as he stared at Zack before he looked at her. "Ash!" she exclaimed in a whisper.

"Misty, are you okay? Did he hurt you?" he asked her.

She didn't say anything, but she swung her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. He was surprised at this, but he returned it. "Oh my gosh, Ash. Thank you thank you thank you." She told him, not even pulling back.

He held her close in the hug, knowing she needed it. "No problem, Misty, but are you okay?" he asked her as Zack was beginning to get up.

"I-I am." She replied to him.

"Why you…!" Zack exclaimed as he got up and ran for Ash. Ash saw this and pushed Misty back so she wouldn't get hurt as he exclaimed 'watch out'.

Misty was pushed back to safety and saw that Zack tackled Ash and had begun to fight him. "I'll teach you to mess with my girlfriend." He told Ash in a very threatening tone. This was when Pikachu had bounded into the scene as Misty watched Zack assault Ash.

"Zack! Stop it." She called out as he kept hitting Ash. "Don't! Please stop." Misty pleaded, yet Zack wouldn't listen.

Pikachu had just got there and was about to unleash a Thunderbolt until Ash had enough. "Get off and STOP HARASSING HER!" He told Zack and punched Zack off himself. Zack rolled over a couple of times as Ash got up and grabbed Misty's hand. "Come on, Mist. We gotta get away from him. You too Pikachu." He told them both.

They both ran away from him and accidentally away from the camp site as Zack was barely up. "I'm not letting you take her." Zack said to himself, determined to make Misty his and ran after them. Ash and Misty ran through the woods with Pikachu right next to them.

"What in the world is he doing here!" Ash questioned.

"He-he followed us. He's after me." Misty warned Ash.

"Not only that, but he is also trying to take you by force. Which is what I won't let him do." He told her.

"Pika pi pika pikchu pi pika. (Which I won't let him do either.)" Pikachu added.

Misty noticed this in both Ash and Pikachu and knew they were serious. He had grown much stronger than the last time they were together during his time in the Battle Frontier and Sinnoh. It wasn't long after that they had reached a bit of ravine and they stopped right there.

"I KNOW YOU BOTH ARE CLOSE BY." Zack called out. "MISTY IS MINE!" he exclaimed.

"He-he…" "He won't get you. I promise." Ash told her. She looked at him with awe on her face. "Trust us, Mist. We got you." Ash told her.

"Pika pi pika. (I'm ready.)" Pikachu stated as he got ready for anything.

It wasn't long until Zack came out of the woods and a face off had stared. Both Ash and Misty were pretty much in a corner, but Ash gently grabbed her arm and gently moved her behind himself. Misty noticed this, even after Ash let go of her and saw he was protecting her as she gently placed both of her hands on Ash's back, peaking at Zack. "Stay behind me, okay." He told her very protectively as he faced Zack. "You better listen! Misty doesn't want to go with you." Ash scolded him. "She doesn't even want to be with you. You best stop now." He warned him.

"Like I'll stop." Zack mocked him as he carefully reached for his pokeball.

Misty barely came out from behind Ash. "Are you sure about this, Ash?" she asked him.

He glanced at her with a smile. "Of course I am. Don't worry." He replied to her before looking back at Zack.

Zack had grabbed his pokeball and Ash knew that something was up. "Once I grab her, teleport us." He told his Alakazam.

Misty came out from behind Ash a little bit more. "Please stop this. None of this is even right." She pleaded with Zack, hoping to at least get through to him.

"Careful Mist." Ash cautioned her.

"You know you don't have to do this. Please leave me be and move on." She pleaded. Pikachu's cheeks began to spark, sensing something.

"I'll move on once I have YOU!" he told her as he started to charge at her. She gasped seeing this, but something she didn't expect was for her to be shoved out of the way.

She fell to the ground and looked up, seeing Ash had pushed her and got tackled in the process. "ASH!" she exclaimed.

"Pikapi! (Ash!)" Pikachu also exclaimed.

Ash was pushed over the ravine, and Misty's heart sank when she saw this, but Zack wasn't thrilled at all when his plan failed. "Teleport me out of here. I'll try again at another time." Zack said to his Pokémon.

As Ash fell, he barely managed to grab onto a rock protruding from the ravine. Misty ran over quickly and grabbed his arm, seeing he was dangling. "D-don't let go." She told Ash.

"Don't worry, Mist. I don't plan on it." He told her as he attempted to climb back up, only to have the dirt give way under his foot. He looked down and didn't see Zack, but a raging river below. "Seems like he teleported away like last time." He remarked before looking back up. "I'm going to try and climb up." He told her as he grabbed for a rock but even that gave way and came out from the ravine wall. This made Ash fall slightly lower and Misty was having a hard time holding him. He saw this and knew she couldn't hold on for much longer.

"H-h-hang on Ash. I-I'll pull you up." She stammered, unable to lift him.

He saw this and looked down at the raging river then back to her as she struggled with her eyes closed. "Mist." he said very calmly. She opened her eyes to look at him. "Go ahead and let go." He told her.

Mist gasped at the thought. "What! Are you crazy? I-I'm not going to…" "Just go ahead and let go." Ash told her as calmly as he could now.

"N-no. I can't. I-I…" Ash then released his grip and he started to slip from her hand. "No Ash! I can…" "Misty, don't. You're struggling. I don't want to take you down with me." He told her.

"But I can." Misty told him. "Just please. Grip my hand." She begged. Ash merely let himself slide as Misty tried to grip him harder. "NO! DON'T." she shouted desperately, not wanting to lose her one and only love. Once he slipped out, he began to fall. "AAASSHHH!" Misty shouted, tears coming out of her eyes.

"PIKAPI! (ASH!)" Pikachu exclaimed.

"VINE WHIP! GRAB ASH!" a voice commanded.

As soon as Misty heard that voice she began to turn around, but before she could, a Vine Whip attack went over her head, and she looked up at it. It was like looking at it in slow-motion. It dived down the ravine and Ash was very surprised to see this as the vines grabbed him and slowly began to pull him up. As they did, Misty looked behind herself and saw who the person was. Her eyes widened as she saw Serena, Calem and Iris. In front of them was an Ivysaur.

"Great job Ivysaur. Be careful though." Calem told his Pokémon.

"Saur iveysaur. (You got it.)" Ivysaur replied as the Pokémon carefully pulled Ash up. It wasn't long until Ash was brought above the ravine and put down on the ground.

Afterwards, Ash was released, and he gave off a smile with his mouth open and a bit of laughter coming from him. "Wow! I can't believe it. Thank…" that was when Misty rushed up to him and embraced him, her arms around his upper torso as she buried her head into his chest.

Ash smiled at her and returned the hug. "I-I-I thought I-I…" she choked on her sobs. Trying to relinquish what had almost happened.

"Hey, don't worry. Nothing happened. I'm still here." Ash told her as he held her close.

As this happened Serena, Calem, Ivysaur and Pikachu all watched the two of them.

"I'm glad we got here when we did." Calem told Serena.

"No kidding. I thought we wouldn't make it in time." Serena said with relief in her voice.

"I wonder what all happened." Iris questioned.

"We'll find out about that really soon." Calem replied to her as he still faced them.

"For right now, they need this time to themselves." Serena added.

Misty pulled back after a few minutes and Ash helped her to clean the tears off her face and they looked at them.

"It's great to see you three again." Misty stated, still relieved that Ash was safe.

"I'm surprised that you three found us." Ash told them.

"Well, there's a lot that needs to be explained there." Calem told Ash. "Let's head back to our camp and we'll explain how we found you three." Calem added.

"Right. But first we need to clean up our camp." Misty told them.

"We'll help out before we do the same." Iris told them.

Not long after, they headed back to Ash and Misty's camp and helped them to pack things up.

"So how did you guys find us?" Misty asked.

"We heard a pretty loud scream from our camp." Calem told her.

"We didn't know who was in trouble, so we ran to help." Iris stated.

"Calem used his Talonflame to see who was in trouble." Serena told them.

"Talonfame?" Ash questioned. That was when Calem's flying/fire-type came down and landed on Calem's shoulder. "Talonflame, huh?" Ash said, wondering about this Pokémon as he pulled out his pokedex.

"Talonflame, the evolved form of Fletchinder. In the fever of an exciting battle, it showers embers from the gaps between its feathers and takes to the air. When attacking prey, it can reach speeds of up to 310 mph. It finishes its prey off with a colossal kick." His pokedex informed him.

"Yep! I caught this guy a while back while he was still a Fletchling." Calem told them.

"Man, I need to catch one myself." Ash stated.

"For right now, we need to go ahead and get moving. The gear is all packed up." Misty told him as she had her stuff and Ash put on his backpack.

"You're right, Mist. Let's go ahead and head out." He told her before they pulled out their pokeballs. "Everyone, return." Ash told them and he and Misty returned their Pokémon.

Calem brought out Talonfalme's pokeball. "You too Talonflame. Great job." He complimented his Pokémon as he returned him.

"Let's get back to our campsite and get the rest of our stuff packed." Iris added. They all went back to the other camp site.

"Here's what I'm wondering. How close were you guys?" Ash asked.

"I'd say pretty close. We might have gone our separate ways yesterday, but luckily enough we were close by." Calem informed them. "What all happened, though?" he requested.

Both Ash and Misty were a bit silent as they walked with them, and they managed to reach their site. "We'll explain as we help you guys." Ash told them.

"Sounds fair enough." Iris replied as they got to work.

Misty went over to their fire area and put water on the fire to douse it. "You see, this morning when we were trying to wash the dishes. The fire was almost out, and I went out to get a little more wood to keep it going for a bit longer." Misty informed them before she went to help Serena.

"From there I started to pack our stuff until I heard Misty scream." Ash told them.

"Zack had me pinned against a tree, my mouth covered until Ash came in and punched him off me. It wasn't long until Zack tackled him and began to beat him up." Misty told them. She looked over to Ash who was still a little beat up but was attempting to hide his black eye from her as they packed up the last of the stuff from their friend's site.

"From there, I managed to get Misty away from him, but he chased us to the ravine where he attempted to tackle Misty to take her with him." Ash finished as they were about done packing.

"That's when we came in. After he teleported out and to where Ash almost fell." Calem remarked.

Misty looked to Ash, complete worry in her eyes. He looked to her and took her hand. "Don't worry, Mist. I'm not going away that easily." He reminded her.

"B-b-but you-you…" Misty started.

"I know, but our friends came in and saved us." Ash reminded her.

She went up to him and placed her hand on his chest. "They saved you which I am very grateful for." She told him very sincerely. Ash smiled at her and kissed her head and she returned the smile.

Before they headed out, Misty recalled seeing something on Ash and looked up and saw he had a black eye. She gasped at that. "Ash. Your eye." She informed him.

"Oh. I didn't think…" "You didn't think I would see it?" she asked him. He gave off a couple of nods.

"I'd say that he got Ash a bit." Calem said to them.

Misty reached up and gently touched it. "Are you okay?" she asked him.

Ash chuckled a bit. "Yeah. I'm fine. I've been through worse though." He reminded her as he smiled.

"Maybe so, but I do want for you to be careful." Misty told him.

"I will, Mist. I will." He told her.

"Better than the whole eye getting bruised." Serena commented.

"I agree." Iris added as she looked at them. "I do hope we're all ready, though. I'd say it's time to continue down the path." Iris told them.

"You know it. I hope you two will come with us." Serena requested from Ash and Misty. They looked to each other then back to them.

"Sure." Misty replied as she smiled.

"You bet." Ash added with a smile as well.

They all began down the path and Serena saw Pikachu on Ash's shoulder and began to wonder something. "Hey, Ash?" she asked. Ash looked to her. "Why isn't Pikachu in his pokeball?" she asked.

"Well, ya see." Ash started. "Pikachu never went back into his pokeball after he came out of it." Ash explained.

"Definitely reflects off how you and Pikachu are." Misty commented.

"How so, Mist?" Ash asked as he looked at her.

"You both love to go out and explore a lot." Misty reminded him playfully.

"That we do, yet. Pikachu doesn't like it inside his pokeball." He told her just as playfully.

"How long have you both known each other?" Calem asked.

"Ever since I went out on my journey." Ash told him as he and Misty still held hands, not knowing it.

"So, are you both together?" Iris asked since she, Serena and Calem noticed.

"No, why?" Misty questioned.

"Because you both are still holding hands." Serena informed her as she pointed to the hands.

Upon realizing that, they both let go quickly, with a large blush on their faces.

"Is my love for him/her becoming more and more obvious?" they both questioned.

As they all continued their way, Ash thought of something from earlier. "Hey Calem! You said that you and Serena were childhood friends, right?" Ash asked.

"Yeah. We're childhood friends. We were both talking about that earlier before we hear Misty scream." Calem informed him.

"Where do you remember her from?" Ash asked.

"I remember her from Prof. Oak's summer academy. Not only that, but I used to live near Pallet Town until we moved." Calem told Ash.

"I've lived in Pallet Town my whole life. I don't recall seeing you nearby." Ash added.

"Probably because of my parents. They wanted me to stay close by our home and in town unless they headed out for a bit." Calem said as he attempted to remember.

"Either way, I'll admit, it's great to see you again. I'm gradually remembering how we met as kids." Serena commented.

"You're a bit younger than I am, but I can still remember that you accidentally went off the path." Calem remarked. "Once Prof. Oak noticed that you went missing, he had us to look for you. I was lucky enough to have found you." Calem told her.

"It's taking a bit of time, but I sort of remember that." Serena replied as she looked up, rubbing her chin.

"How did you find out where Serena was to meet up with her again?" Misty asked.

"Well, believe it or not. I was just starting to enter Cerulean City to challenge the gym leader there." He informed her.

"Wait! So you challenged my sister?" Misty asked, very surprised.

"Yep. I did. Your sister put up a good fight, but I managed to come out on top. As for that Trip guy that had to re-challenge her." He commented as he complimented Daisy. "It wasn't long until he went running to the Pokémon Center. He was very angry that he lost again." He told them.

"How did you know he lost again?" Iris asked.

"He told me about it. Even with his Snivy grass type, he lost to Daisy." Calem informed them. "He even explained he saw you guys and I wanted to see if I could catch up with you all." Calem added.

"From what I can tell, You probably were told by Trip about Prof. Sycamore and he told you about where we were heading." Misty said thoughtfully.

"Actually yes. I did find out from him and I learned about a contest in Silver Town." He informed them.

"Wait. Did you see the contest in Celadon City?" Serena asked.

"I was actually a day late, but I found out about two other contests. I figured I go to Silver Town to see that contest to see if you'd be participating in it." He told them.

"Then that explains how you managed to meet up with Serena there." Misty added.

"I just didn't expect for us to attend that party after the contest. That was a blast, even after that event that occurred." Calem remarked what happened a couple of days ago.

"There's one thing that I'm wondering about." Misty started. "How did Dawn find out about mine and Ash's date?" she wondered.

"Oh, uuhhh, I mentioned we had lunch before we regrouped." Ash told her.

"From there, Dawn had figured you both had a date." Serena told Misty.

"Seems like Dawn figured out the whole thing when I mentioned that." Ash said, very sheepishly.

"Well, I'm just glad we're now together again." Serena added until she looked to Calem. "I'd like to know though. How old are you, Calem?" she asked him.

"I'm twelve." He told her. They all looked a bit surprised, primarily Ash since he saw his Venusaur. "I can tell you all are surprised. I get that a good bit." He explained to them.

"I'm surprised that you're twelve. What all have you done on your journey?" Ash asked.

"Well, over the course of time. I did start in my new home region, lost the league, but I continued on with two other regions." Calem informed them.

"What other regions did you win?" Ash requested.

"Only one so far. The Johto Region." Calem told them. This surprised Ash and Misty as Ash had managed to win that league a while back. "After I won that league, I decided to continue on after a small break. I returned back to my old home region to see if I can win this one as well." Calem explained.

"Sounds like you've gone through a lot." Iris commented.

"Reminds me of my journeys with Ash." Misty recalled as she looked at him. "He's definitely gotten stronger." She commented.

Ash looked at her as they continued to walk. "I couldn't have done it without you and Brock." Ash told her.

"I still can't believe how he was acting." Serena recalled in a bit of annoyance.

"He acted like such a little kid." Iris stated.

"That's how he does act around different beautiful girls." Misty recalled, a bit exasperatedly.

"To think he had to keep us in line when you're the one who had to keep him more in line, ha ha ha." Ash also recalled as he laughed.

"Hey, someone had to. You hardly ever pulled on his ear." Misty reminded him teasingly.

"Yet, Max and Croagunk took over your position to keep him in line." Ash said with some laughter.

After they went traveling throughout the morning, they stopped to have some lunch. Chatting some more and having some laughs until Serena and Iris noticed Ash's current team, not even knowing how many he's actually captured.

"Wait, how many Pokémon have you caught?" Serena asked.

"Quite a bit. I have Pokémon from different regions." Ash explained to them.

"That little one right there." Iris pointed out, "Which one is that one?" she asked.

"That's Gible. He's my first dragon-type…" "A DRAGON TYPE!" Iris exclaimed as she rushed to the Pokémon and nuzzled it into her cheek.

This caused everyone to sweat drop. "I understand how excited each of us can be, and she's called a few of us little kids! Even I've been attempting to control myself around other water types." Misty said in a bit of an annoyed tone.

"There's one thing I don't get though." Calem said to himself before he looked to Ash. "Are you going back through the Kanto League?" he asked him.

Ash looked at him after he asked that. "I am and before you ask how I am able to do so. I'm afraid I can't explain that part." Ash told him.

Calem then looked at Serena. "Since you're in contests. How many ribbons do you need?" he asked her.

"From what Dawn told me. I need four more now." She explained to him and she took out her ribbon case and opened it. "I still can't believe it. I managed to win my first ribbon. All I need are four more." She said to herself as she smiled.

"Don't forget, you do have some rivals. Your friendly rivals: Dawn and Shauna. Yet, your mean rival: Miette. They're going to try and get all five ribbons first." Ash informed her.

"Even so. I'm going to give this all I got." She told them.

It wasn't long until they put their lunch items away and they continued walking. As they continued on throughout the day, Ash had found out that Serena and Calem had both attended the summer academy after Ash went on his journey.

"You're kidding!" Ash exclaimed.

"We're not. It was a while back and we both attended for two years." Calem informed Ash.

"I fairly remember Calem attending." Serena commented as she pondered. "I do remember a while back that I saw Ash on tv as he had won both Hoenn and Sinnoh." Serena told them. "A lot happened for us back then. I just wish we were old enough to become Pokemon trainers." Serena told everyone.

"Yeah! I would've loved to go on so many adventures back then." Calem added.

"With all the stuff we've been through. Let's just say you're lucky enough to have stayed at home for those." Misty told them.

"What all have you guys been through?" Iris asked.

"Let's just say that, from what I said at the party yesterday. It's been pretty life threatening." Ash told them.

This gave Serena and Calem a bit of a shock. Throughout Ash and Misty's journeys, they both experienced a lot of life-threatening areas. Yet, they had always managed to come out on top.

The sun had begun to set, and Misty had set up her tent for them to use to change. As it had went dark, Ash and Calem changed first while the girls went in to change as well. Calem relaxed around the fire while Ash put another log on it before he looked to Calem.

"Hey Calem, I'm curious." Ash told him. Calem looked at him, wondering what was up. "You're entering the Indigo League, am I right?" Ash asked.

"I am." Calem replied.

"How many badges do you have?" Ash asked.

"So far, up to three." Calem told him as he brought out his badge case and showed Ash his badges.

"Three huh?" Ash remarked as he took the badge case and looked at the three badges. Ash say the Boulder Badge, Cascade Badge and the Thunder Badge.

"When I started out on my journey here, I brought a few Pokémon with me. My starter is the main one that comes with me." Calem told Ash.

Ash looked at him shocked. "You do the same thing?" Ash asked as he handed the case back.

"Yep. Used only my starter in my next region until I came here." Calem replied as he took back his badge case and put it away. "I had decided to keep three Pokémon on me. One you saw already." He stated.

"That's right. Your Ivysaur. Who's your starter though?" Ash requested. Calem brought out a pokeball, aimed it and released the Pokémon that was inside. Once it popped open the white light came out and formed a Frogadier.

"Huh? Who's that Pokémon?" Ash asked himself as he brought out his pokedex and opened it.

"Frogadier, the Bubble Frog Pokemon, and the evolved form of Foakie. It can throw bubble-covered pebbles with precise control, hitting empty cans up to a hundred feet away. Its swiftness is unparalleled. It can scale a tower of more than 2,000 feet in a minute's time." The pokedex told him.

Ash put his pokedex away. "So this is Froakie's evolved form, huh? I guess I have two of the similar Pokémon." Ash told him.

"Two of the same one?" Calem wondered.

"Close to it. You see, my Bulbasaur didn't want to evolve years ago. As of right now, he's attempting to make peace at Prof. Oak's lab. As for Froakie. I got one a while ago from Prof. Sycamore." Ash informed him.

This surprised Calem as he looked to Ash. "Prof. Sycamore's here?" he asked.

"Yeah. We met him back in Cerulean City." Ash told him. "He was there showing new Pokémon. Explaining to us that the league was trying something new." Ash informed him.

"So that's what he was up to." Calem commented. Ash looked confused as to what's going on. "You see. The region I moved to is the same one he is from." Calem explained.

"That explains a lot." Misty remarked as she and the girls finally came out.

"There you guys are. I thought you all somehow got lost." Ash joked.

"Oh ha ha." Misty replied as she took a seat next to him. "So tell us about what all Prof. Sycamore was doing here." Misty requested as Serena sat next to Calem and Iris right next to her.

"Well, when I talked to him last. He informed he of what the league was going to test out. Allowing for starters from other regions to come here. So far, they chose two from my region and one from another region." Calem explained.

"From what Prof. Sycamore had on him. He had a Snivy, Fennekin and a Froakie." Serena recalled.

"Did you get to choose one as well?" Calem asked.

"Mmhmmm. I chose Fennekin." Serena told him and she released her Pokémon from its pokeball and Fennekin said 'Fenn' when the light dissipated.

"Huh? Fennekin!" Calem exclaimed as he brought out his pokedex as well.

"Fennekin, the Fox Pokémon. Eating a twig fills it with energy, and its roomy ears give vent to air hotter than 390 degrees Fahrenheit. As it walks, it munches on a twig in place of a snack. It intimidates opponents by puffing hot air out of its ears." His pokedex said.

"Seems like what they're doing is gradually starting to work." Calem commented. "I wonder. Who got Snivy?" Calem pondered.

"The guy we saw at the party briefly. Trip." Ash informed him in a bit of a mad tone. "He requested for Snivy after seeing it. I about asked for Snivy until he did." Ash added. "I am glad, though. Because Froakie chose to travel with us after he had a battle with me." Ash told them.

"I remember that." Misty recalled. "But I didn't know you were going to ask for Snivy." She added as well.

"I was. Initially, I did sense that Froakie wanted to join me, but I wasn't for sure. When I about asked for Snivy, Trip spoke up first." He explained.

"I'm glad Froakie chose you then." Calem commented.

The others looked to him, "Why do you say that?" Iris asked.

"Because of how intelligent both Pokémon are. Yet, Snivy can abandon their own trainers if they don't deem them worthy enough or something. Froakie sometimes choose their own trainer because they can sense how strong the trainer is." Calem informed Ash.

"That's probably why Froakie chose you. It knows how strong you are and is willing to go the distance like you do." Misty added.

"That would make a lot of sense. He has won a few leagues." Serena recalled.

"How many did you win?" Iris asked Ash.

"I managed to win the Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh." Ash told them.

"Going back through Kanto would help you further in the Indigo League." Calem stated. "I do wonder. Did Prof. Sycamore show you the new evolution stones?" Calem asked.

"He did. We were surprised to find out they could Mega-evolve other Pokémon." Ash recalled. "Although, his Heracross was exerting a lot of pressure, so I'm wondering how great Mega-evolution is." Ash finished.

"It could be very useful, but I question it as well." Calem added.

"Hopefully he'll do more research before Pokémon trainers want that kind of stone." Misty added as well.

"As for right now, I'm gonna hit the hey. Been a long day." Ash told them as he got up and stretched.

"I think I will too. We still have a bit of a journey ahead of us." Misty told them.

Not long after, each of them got into their sleeping bag. Misty scooted close to Ash and he smiled at her and she put her head close to his shoulder. Calem, Serena, and Iris put their sleeping bags side-by-side so they could sleep together. Pikachu went into Ash's sleeping bag and Fennekin went to Serena's sleeping bag to sleep next to its trainer.

The next day, they each had gotten up and had breakfast before they headed out and after returning all their Pokémon. They traveled for a bit of time, even as Serena mentioned the next contest she wanted to enter really soon. Yet, she, Misty and Iris knew of the special event coming up really soon as the other girls were making their plans to return to Kanto once they've managed to trick the boys.

They had traveled for about a week, Ash and Calem training their Pokémon. They even helped Serena out with her performance battles. Misty even assisted Iris in training her Axew to give it more battle experience. While they did this, Misty, Serena and Iris would contact the others girls in secrecy, knowing the Princess Festival wasn't too far away and they decided to meet in the next town for Dawn and Serena's next Pokemon Contest which was the day after the festival in O-Hina Town. It was a couple of days before they got there, they stopped in another town for more supplies.

Each of the girls managed to keep the secret from the boys as this was going to be too good for them to pass up. Ash remembered Princess day but didn't keep track of it. This gave Misty more of an advantage of tricking him into going to the same town. It's once they did enter the Town, he knew the place looked very familiar, but he couldn't put his finger on it.

"This place seems familiar; I just can't place my finger on it." He said as he pondered where they were. "Wait! I think I…oh no!" he exclaimed as May, Dawn, Zoey and those began to gradually show up.

Misty giggled, knowing full well what was about to happen.
