Tom: So much content, so little time.
Sara: He does want to take a break from this series for a bit, but he still has many ideas in his head.
Tom: No kidding. Hard to stop a series for a bit when you still have a lot of ideas to put in.
Announcer: you got that right, Tom. We have a lot to show the fans with both new and old projects.
Tom: Not to mention, it'll take some time for us to get to Gravity Falls: Legend of the Slender, Mysterious Things and much more.
Sara: We're now ready, Tom.
Tom: I still love this job. *he hits the touchscreen buttons*
Ash and Misty get into a cab, it changes color before it drives off.

During Gary's time in Sinnoh, he heard the woman inform him about Hunter J. He didn't even know how resourceful she was, even when it came to near death. After all these weeks they thought that Hunter J was gone for good, she manages to surprisingly come back. Yet, they needed to know her next move. Gary had it pretty much figured out. He just hoped he wasn't too late.
It was a few days after he was back in Johto. Walking around, he was returning back to Professor Elm's lab. Wanting to know if there was anything else they might have discovered from what they briefed him on. It was still amazing to him as he had never thought about what Tonio had informed them on. The possibility of different universes. This was a pretty big leap for all of them.
On his way, however. Someone was following him and he didn't even know about it. As he kept on walking, he sensed something, but he didn't know what it was and before he could think about it he felt someone grab him and shove him against the wall of a building. Gary was a bit dazed, but managed to look up at the figure at it was masked surrounded by a cape and all that was seen was a long sleeved uniform with a red fold-over at the cuff and a white glove.
Yet, Gary knew who this was as he remembered what his grandfather told him. "What the…you!" he exclaimed.
The figure merely gave off a sinister laugh. "Yes, it's me. I'm surprised you recognize me." The figure replied with a filtered voice.
"We all thought you were…" "Dead? Hardly. I managed to survive from what happened almost two years ago." The figure remarked.
"What is it that you want?" Gary demanded.
The figure merely tilted his head forward slightly. "Information." He simply told him.
"Information?" Gary questioned.
"That's right. Information. I was able to gain some access to Tonio's files and found some information, but not enough." The figure told Gary.
"Too bad, then. No chance you're going to get it." Gary informed him.
"Oh, don't worry. I have my ways. Especially if I can have some leverage." He told him before looking back up slightly. "How's that brunette of yours?" he questioned Gary.
Gary knew who he was talking about and this got to him. "You best stay away from her, if you know what's good for ya." Gary warned.
"What are you going to do, huh?" the figure questioned. "You're hardly in any position to threaten me." The figure reminded him. "All I want is information. Even on the possibility on different universes." He demanded.
"Why should I even help you?" Gary requested.
"Because Gary." He began as he took off his mask, revealing his purple eyes and teal hair. "I want all that info to further my research." Dr. Yung demanded.
"Whatever you wanted. You won't get it." Gary told him.
Dr. Yung merely smirked, "I know you probably have the new password, but I strongly doubt it." He commented. "Not to mention, I've already discovered a different universe with a small portal I've managed to make. Yet, I still have multiple things to work out with it." He stated. Gary's eyes went wide a tad bit in fear. "Still, I have an idea of who has the information that I require." He commented. This definitely instilled fear into Gary as he knew what Dr. Yung probably meant.

It wasn't long after the invincible brothers were defeated. Paul was nearing the Pokémon Center with Ash on his back. Kenny, Drew, and Calem right with him. Even though Paul was carrying Ash. He was still thinking about the kiss he gave to Zoey. Something inside of him was starting to come out and he wanted to let her know. The girls weren't far behind as they went up to the doors. Once the doors opened Paul went right in and Nurse Joy immediately saw Ash on Paul's back.
"Oh dear!" she exclaimed.
"We ran into some trouble and the so-called trainers used Tentacruel. He was hit by a huge barrage of Poison Sting attacks." Paul informed her, keeping it short and to the point.
"I understand." Nurse Joy replied as she typed on her computer, quickly. "We need a human sized stretcher, stat." she informed Chansey.
"Chansey (Right ahead of you.)" Chancey acknowledged as she brought the stretcher up.
Drew and Kenny carefully helped lower Ash onto the stretcher. Once they did, he was wheeled into the emergency room and Nurse Joy went with Chansey. The boys remained there as the girls arrived. They saw them waiting in front of the emergency room door and Misty went up to the door, her hands laced together over her heart. She was very worried about Ash.
Paul and Drew looked at her as Kenny and Calem got some drinks. Dawn went up to Misty from behind, not knowing how to approach the situation, but she detected something next to her. She looked and saw a cup and she saw Kenny holding it and she gingerly took.
"Oh. Thanks." She said to him and she looked back to Misty and sighed. "I can sense what's going on with Misty." She told Kenny as she looked at her.
"Yeah. I know what you mean." He replied to her. From there he took her hand and she looked at him. "Come on. She needs some time to herself." He lets her know and they both head over to a bench.
Serena got a cup from Calem and they looked at Misty. "Do you think she's alright?" Serena requested.
"I'm sure she will be soon. It'll take a little time." He reassured Serena.
Iris overheard them and looked over to Misty, wishing to help reassure her that Ash was going to be all right. "Quite a bit has happened. I just hope Misty is okay." Iris said to herself.
May was sitting with Drew, hoping that Ash was going to be alright. Drew wrapped an arm around her shoulders and she looked at him as he smiled at her. "Nothing to worry about. Ash will be fine. I still remember telling me how he's managed to get out of much tighter spots than this." He reassured her.
She smiled at him and gave off a small sigh of relief. "That's true. Thanks Drew," she replied before she kissed his cheek and laid her head on his shoulder.
Everyone there was pretty worried about Ash, but at least Paul was able to assist them as he was the strongest one there that could transport Ash. Zoey went up to him, leaned on the wall he was leaning on and laid her head on his shoulder. She did want to talk about the kiss earlier, but now wasn't the time. Especially since the light turned off and Nurse Joy came out.
Everyone looked at her as they were anxious to know if Ash was okay. Yet, they were surprised to see a smile on her face. "Your friend will be fine. He's recovering from that Poison Sting attack and it was pretty brutal on his body. But after I saw the red mark on his side, I understand how his body couldn't fully manage that amount." She informed them.
They were all relieved. Misty was more relieved as she let out a big breath. "May we see him?" she requested.
"Most certainly. He'll probably be in bed for most of the day." Nurse Joy informed them before she went off.
They all started to go in and saw Ash was hooked up to a few wires. A needle or two were stuck in him as well, but he was passed out from what happened earlier.
Misty went up next to his bed, sat in the chair and took his hand into both of hers. They watched the scene before them, feeling the strong emotional bond the two had. Misty started to rub the top of his hand gently and he started to stir a bit. They looked at him and his eyes cracked open and his vision was very blurry. He barely looked over and he saw multiple people in front of him, but he felt something. Something very soft, holding his hand.
As his vision was starting to clear he barely saw his friends. But when he looked over, he saw someone next to him who was watching with anticipation. Once he looked and his vision became more clear, and he saw the red head he was in love with along with his old pal on her shoulder, and she had a smile on her face.
"Ash! You're awake." Misty exclaimed.
"Y-yeah." He groaned as he replied and Pikachu jumped onto him, glad he was okay.
"Pi pikachu! (You're okay!)" he exclaimed in an excited tone.
"Ha ha. Yeah, I'm alright." He acknowledged to his companion as he tried to sit up, but Misty gently pushed him back down.
He looked at her a bit confused. "You need your rest, Ash. After what happened, I'd say we all want you to recover." She told him.
"Yeah, no kiddin'." Paul stated as he walked up. "Once you've managed to recover, then we'll battle. I want one where you're at the top of your game. Not to mention, if I've learned anything from you. It's to rest and recover." Paul reminded him.
"Okay, fine. Gotha." Ash replied, with an ambiguous expression.
"Besides that. Those bozos ruined the great time we were each having." Dawn stated, being annoyed that she and Kenny had to cancel their walk.
"Not to mention, me and Drew we're having a date. I can't believe what they did!" May stated very annoyed.
"Then head on out for a bit. I'll be fine here." Ash reassured them.
They looked at him and were unsure about this.
"Are you sure, Ash?" Misty asked.
"Of course I am. I don't want you guys not to have fun while I'm in here." He told them. They didn't look too sure they should do that or not. "Guys. It's going to take me some time to recover. I want you guys to have fun and kill some time until I'm better." He reassures them.
"Okay then. If you say so." Misty replied, reluctantly. "If you do need anything, just give us a holler." She tolls him before she leaned over and kissed his forehead.
"As he recovers. Do you and Iris want to join me and Calem for some ice cream? We saw a shop before those bozos caused that racket." Serena offered.
"Sure. I'm down for some ice cream." Misty replied as she got up to go with them.
"Also, Mist?" Ash asked.
Misty looked at him. "Yes?" she requested.
"I was wondering. W-would you like to go on another…d-date?" he asked her, a bit nervously.
"Sure Ash. I'd love to." She replied happily. "Just don't be nervous about asking me. Kay?" she requested.
"Okay. I'll try not to be as nervous." Ash told her. She smiled at him and kissed his cheek before they let go of each other's hands and Misty headed out with Serena, Calem, and Iris.
May and Drew departed to continue their date and Kenny went with Dawn for another walk. With Paul and Zoey, the two of them headed out for a bit but Paul looked to Zoey. "I'm reluctant on leaving Ash there." Paul informs her.
"Maybe so, but we all know he's safe and no one is around to harm him again." Zoey reassured him.
Paul looked in front of himself, that usual serious expression on his face. "I know. Especially after what happened to those morons." Paul replied.
"As for right now…" Zoey started as she took his arm. "I suggest we have a small bite to eat. I'm a bit hungry." She told him.
He smiled as he tilted his head down with his eyes closed. "Hmph. Why didn't you say so." He teased. From there, the two went off to get a bite to eat.
Yet, one trainer was starting to enter the Pokémon Center and he went up to the desk. "Nurse Joy. I'd like a room, please?" the trainer requested.
"Of course. I'll need to put you in the system first." She informed him as she went over to her computer.
"Of course. My name is Trip." He informed her.
Nurse Joy typed away on her computer, putting his name in and what room he would be in. "Okay. There. All set." She stated before handing him a key. "Here's your key." She told him. "Your room is the fourth door on the left." She told him.
Trip accepted the key. "Thank you." He replied to her and went on his way. As he did, he saw the emergency room doors and thought if Ash was in there. He managed to go up and look in and saw Ash lying in bed, now starting to rest so he could recover. Trip merely smiled at this, thinking he could exploit this.
Misty, Serena, Calem, and Iris were now sitting at a table outside, enjoying their ice cream. They were having a small conversation about some upcoming events and such. But one thing came across Serena and Calem's mind.
"Hey, Misty. I'm curious. How long have you known Ash?" Serena asked.
"I've known him since he was ten. Why?" Misty pondered.
"Well, it's from how you and Ash treat each other. I feel like you both are very close." Serena said to her.
"Not to mention how you both have been traveling together." Calem remarked.
"I will admit. We've been doing this since we were kids, but after what had happened. I'm worried now." She told them.
Iris put a hand on her shoulder. "You have nothing to worry about. Ash is strong. From what I can tell. He's been through a lot." Iris added.
"Tell us. How much do you like him?" Calem requested.
Misty fell silent for a brief moment as she looked at her ice cream. The other three were anxious to hear her answer as they eagerly awaited. "It…it's more than that." She informed them.
This peeked Serena's interest. "Do you…love him?" she questioned her.
Misty looked back up at them. "I do." She simply a bluntly told them. They were pretty surprised by this, more or less. "The thing is this. From what I've said before. My feeling had grown for him." She stated. "I didn't know what it was for quite a while. There is one thing I will admit to." She told them. "I already told Zoey this. If Ash was to ask me to marry him. I'd say yes in a heartbeat." She informed them.
"So that's how much you love him?" Calem asked.
Misty nodded and Serena was incredibly surprised along with Calem and Iris. "I've never thought about anyone being that in love to skip over dating first." Serena commented.
"I still want to date him. I'm just not sure if we're ready to be an item or not." She says to them as she takes a bite of ice cream from her spoon.
"You have nothing to worry about. From what I can tell. Once the time is right. You'll be together with Ash." Iris reassures her.
"Thanks Iris." Misty replied before she looked back down at her ice cream. She then giggled. "You know something. From what he asked me earlier. I can't wait for our date." She told them.
They all smiled at her, knowing she was happy about her relationship with Ash.
Hours passed on by and Ash was a lot better than he had been earlier. The others came back to see how much he had recovered and he was checking out of the Pokémon Center. He looked over to the others and saw their happy faces.
"Hey guys!" he said to them.
Misty went up to him and hugged him. "I'm so glad you're okay." She told him.
He returned the hug and kissed her head. "Of course, Mist. You know it takes more than that to take me down." He reassured her.
"Also, Ash?" Nurse Joy requested. He looked back to her and she had a small medication container. "You'll need to take these for the next few days. It'll help you with the Poison Sting." She informed him.
"Gotcha. Thanks Nurse Joy." Ash replied as he took the medication.
Misty took his arm and smiled at him. "I'm ready for that date." She told him.
He returned the smile. "You're going to love this." He told her before they both walked out.
"Awe man. We didn't get to tease her a bit." Dawn said with a disappointed tone.
"Not to mention, we didn't get a chance to help her get ready." May pointed out.
Zoey was about say something until she looked at Paul as he a look on his face. "Huh? Something the matter, Paul." She asked him.
"I have a feeling…" "Oh. I forgot to inform him. He has a message." Nurse Joy thought aloud.
They all looked to her, wondering what the message was. "Message? What kind of message?" Dawn requested.
"Well, you see. A young boy came by earlier. He requested for them to have a battle as soon as he was up." Nurse Joy informed them.
This immediately got Paul's attention. "A battle? What's the trainers name?" he requested from her, almost demanding it.
"It was from a boy by the name of Trip, if I recall." Nurse Joy informed them. "I guess he saw Ash as soon as he came in. I'm not sure if Ash will be ready for a battle." Nurse Joy added.
That did it for Paul as he began to bolt it for the door. Zoey followed in behind pretty quickly. "Paul! What is it?" she requested from him.
"If Trip saw Ash like that. Why else would he want to battle him?" he demanded. "Not to mention. Even I know Ash isn't even ready for a battle. I suspect he knows as well but doesn't care." Paul stated as the two of them headed put the front doors.
The others only watched, but Dawn came to her senses. "Hey! Wait for us." She called out before following them.
"Huh? Hey, Dawn." Kenny called out.
They each headed out, following Paul and Zoey. As they did, Ash and Misty were discussing about what they could do for their date real soon. As they were, they were enjoying the walk they were having a good time. Misty gave off a giggle as Ash told her something funny. She gripped his arm some more and nuzzled her head into his shoulder.
"Something I will say is this, Mist. I was worried about when those invincible brothers came back as they attacked you." Ash told her. "What happened after we parted ways?" he asked her.
She gave off a sad sigh, knowing she would have to tell him. "It was when I returned to the gym that my sisters had already left and there were other trainers there, attempting to train Gyarados. When I tried to train him, I was having an incredibly difficult time." Misty started to inform him. "It was during that time, they arrived at the gym, wanting to take it over. I was very lucky that I had Nurse Joy there to help me, especially after what happened in the pool with Gyarados." She continued.
"What happened with Gyarados?" Ash asked her.
"It's a bit of a long story, but to make it short. He managed to blast those boys out of the gym after I took the hit for him when they used the same poison sting." Ash was very concerned about her at this point. Misty saw and sensed this. "Don't worry, Ash. After Gyarados saved me, everything was so much better." Misty reassured him.
He turned to face her and she looked at him as he took her hands into his. "You aught to know me by now, Mist. From what's been happening on our journey. I've wanted to make sure you've been safe." He told her.
"I-I wanted the same thing for you." Misty told him and they started to lean in.
"From everything that started, I wanted to keep you as close as possible." Ash started as his eyes started to close.
"I-I wanted to keep you sa…f…" Misty started as well until they each got closer.
"Well, well, well. You managed to show up." A very familiar voice stated. Ash and Misty's eyes flung open and they looked to the side and saw Trip. "I wasn't for sure if you'd show or not." He said sarcastically.
Ash let go of Misty to turn a bit and face Trip. "What the…Trip?" Ash questioned.
Trip merely smirked at that. "You know it." He replied.
"What in the world are you doing here and what are you talking about?" Ash questioned as well.
"Well, you see. I am here for a small break and after I saw you, I asked Nurse Joy to relay a message for you to meet me so we could battle." Trip informed Ash.
"A-a battle?" Ash stammered a bit.
"He had a battle much earlier today and I doubt he's in any condition to battle right now." Misty retorted.
Trip only smirked. "Really? I thought he was strong enough." Trip mentioned sarcastically.
"You should know he isn't even in good condition to battle." A voice stated. They all looked and saw Paul and the others.
"What the…?" Trip questioned.
"If there's one thing I can tell about Trip, is that you want to take on Ash. Despite what condition he's in." Paul called out.
"Wait! Paul, do you mean?" Dawn started.
"He probably knows that Ash isn't in any condition. Hours ago. I thought I got a glimpse of him when I was putting him on my back." Paul informed them.
"Despite that I…ugh!" Ash exclaimed as he grabbed his abdomen.
Misty gently grabbed onto him to help him keep balance. "Ash! Even I know you're not in full condition to take him on." Misty reminded him.
"Maybe not. But I gotta…ugh." Ash said as he still held his abdomen.
Trip smiled, thinking he had won. "You see. You're not as strong as I thought you were." He stated as he started to turn and walk away.
Now that was the last straw with Paul. "Hey, Trip." He called out.
Trip stopped and started to look in Paul's direction. "Huh? What…?" he questioned until he felt something hit him across the face and he fell to the ground, grunting. "What the…?" he questioned as he rubbed his cheek with his eyes closed.
"Paul!" Zoey exclaimed but he ignored her and put a poke ball up to Trip.
"Get up." He ordered Trip. Trip opened his eyes and looked up at Paul. "I said "get up."" He ordered Trip. Trip only had a shocked expression as he didn't expect to get punched. Paul then looked down with his eyes closed. "Just as I thought. Pathetic." He stated.
"Paul. Why did you…" "If Trip can dish out his words, then he needs to walk with them as well." Paul told Zoey. "If he was strong enough. He would've gotten up after that punch. Even Ash could've gotten back up after dealing with a punch like that." Paul stated.
"What are you getting on about?" Trip questioned, showing how scared he was now.
"How many badges do you have?" Paul questioned.
"Three. It took a bit of time with that Lt. Surge guy." Trip commented as he recalled that battle.
"That's understandable." Ash replied in agreement.
"Here's my point. You should have at least 5 badges at this point. Yet, you still have three?" Paul stated.
"What are you getting at?" Trip asked him.
"Here's what I'm getting at. You're not worthy of battling Ash. No where near it." Paul scolded him.
"What?" Trip questioned, very shocked at what Paul just said.
"You heard me. You're not worthy. You gained only three badges and nothing to show for it." Paul told him bluntly.
Everyone was amazed with Paul at how he was standing up to Trip. Especially from what happened at the party. "But what about you?" Trip questioned. "I saw you lose to him at the Sinnoh League." He stated.
"In which is what I deserved." Paul openly admitted. This completely shocked everyone who knew him incredibly well as he never admitted something like this.
"Y-you deserved it?" Trip stammered as he questioned him.
"Yes. I deserved it. As for you to have a battle with Ash, you don't deserve it. I'll battle you instead." Paul told him. "If you can beat me, then you can take on Ash. But if you can't, then here's the rules." Paul started. "It'll be a three on three battle. If you lose, then you cannot take on anymore gyms for two weeks until you get stronger. Same amount of time to take me on for you to battle Ash." He stated.
Trip gave off a serious look. "Fine. I accept those rules. But if I win." He started before he smirked. "Not only do I get to face off against Ash tomorrow, but I also get to take little miss red head out for a date." He said as he gestured towards Misty.
This shocked everyone, but Ash was furious with that. "NO WAY!" he spat. He would not let him go out on a date with Misty. Especially since they already had plans.
"Let him do it, Ash." Misty told him. This shocked Ash as he gasped slightly and he turned to look at her. "B-but…" "Let him, Ash. I trust him. I strongly doubt he'd lose against Trip." Misty reassured Ash.
Ash wasn't too certain about this, but he looked over to Paul and Trip and saw the determination in Paul's eyes to take him on. That's when Ash knew something. He didn't know what it was, but he knew that Paul was more than capable of taking on Trip.
Ash gave off a nod in agreement and Paul and Trip went to each side. They were each ready and Calem served as referee again. "This will be a three on three Pokémon battle. The first side to beat all three Pokémon is the winner." He announced to them.
"I hope you're ready to lose." Trip told Paul. Paul didn't say anything as he knew how to beat Trip.
"And…BEGIN!" Calem called out as he raised his hand.
Trip made the first call. "Go! Servine." Trip called out.
"Go Magnemite. Time for some maneuvers." Paul called out.
Both Pokémon burst out in a white light, but Ash and Dawm noticed something about what Paul said.
"Time for maneuvers?" Dawn questioned.
"I've never heard him say that before." Ash stated.
"That's because of how much he's changed." Zoey informed them. They looked to her. "Ever since he started going through the Battle Frontier and training his Pokémon. Things with him have become more different. I can tell how much he's changing so far." Zoey told them.
After hearing what she had said, they watched Paul and he was ready for battle. "Magnemite, use Sonic Boom." Paul ordered.
"Servine. Use Vine Whip." Trip ordered.
As they began to unleashed their attacks, both Dawn and Serena brought out their poke dex's. Each of them giving off a beep. "Magnemite, the Magnet Pokémon. It is attracted by electromagnetic waves. It may approach Trainers if they are using their Pokégear. The units at the sides of its body generate antigravity energy to keep it aloft in the air." The dex said. From there they aimed them at Servine and they each gave off a beep as well. "Servine! The Grass Snake Pokémon and the evolved form of Snivy. It moves along the ground as if sliding. Its swift movements befuddle its foes. They avoid attacks by sinking into the shadows of thick foliage and it then attacks with a vine whip." They informed them.
"Huh? These Pokémon are definitely interesting." Dawn commented.
"Yeah, no kidding." Serena replied.
Ash noticed something about their poke dex's that was a bit different from his. "Did both of your poke dex's sound a bit differently?" he asked them.
They looked at him a bit curious about what he meant, until they realized it. "Oh, yeah!" Dawn said with a slight giggle. "During yours and Misty's time on the cruise ship, our poke dex's each had an update." Dawn informed Ash.
"once you can. You'll need to get an update on your as well." Serena told him.
As they talked, Servine took a direct hit from Magneton's Sonic Boom during their conversation.
"Servine. Use Mega Drain." Trip ordered.
"Dodge and use Magnet Bomb." Paul ordered.
Servine attempted to attack with multiple vines to drain its opponent, but Magnemite managed to dodge and fired steel bombs that stuck to Servine, causing some damage.
"Grr… Use Leaf Storm." Trip called out. As quickly as possible, Servine fired a storm of leaves at Magnemite, causing a good bit of damage.
"You okay?" Paul asked his Pokémon. Magneton looked back at him with only its eye and gave a nod. "Okay, use Spark." Paul ordered.
"Magnemmite. (Here goes.)" it said as it gave a good zap towards Servine.
"Servine. Dodge and use Wrap." Trip ordered. Servine dodged at last second and once Spark dissipated, it wrapped its body around the Magnet Pokémon, giving it a good squeeze. "Great, now use Mega Drain." Trip added. Each of them gasped, along with Paul, even as Servine used its body to zap a great deal of energy from Magnemite, casing a lot of damage. "Now, lets wrap it up with Leaf Storm." Trip ordered.
"Oh no. That'll be a direct hit." Dawn stated, completely worried.
Zoey noticed something as Paul would be like this. 'Come on Paul. What are you planning?' she thought to herself.
From there Magnemite took the full force of Leafe Storm and it was down for the count. Calem looked at Magnemite before raising his hand to make the announcement. "Magnemite is unable to battle. Servine wins the first round." He announced as he aimed his hand towards Trip.
Trip smirked with a good bit of confidence, or possibly over confidence. "Ha! One down. Two to go." He boasted.
Paul merely returned Magnemite and looked at its poke ball. "You did great Magnemite. Get some good rest." He told his companion. 'Since Magnemite took the hit. I'm going to go much further, now.' Paul thought to himself as he grabbed another poke ball and enlarged it. "Go Magmortar. Time for some maneuvers." He called out. In another burst of white light his Blast Pokémon came out, ready for a fight.
"So then, his Magmar evolved?" Dawn questioned as she pulled out her poke dex and Serena did the same.
Their dex's gave off a beep. "Magmortar, the Blast Pokémon and the final evolved form of Magby. When launching 3,600 degrees F fireballs from its arms, its body takes on a whitish hue from the intense heat. Its breath also sears and sizzles." Their dex's informed them.
"Wow! That Pokémon looks intense." Serena commented.
"I wonder what Paul is up to, though." Zoey commented. They looked to her. "I've seen him take on trainers who were very much experienced, and what happened with his Magnemite. I know his Magnemite would've won that one." She stated. "I do wonder though. What is he planning?" she pondered.
Trip had a bit of fear on his face, but he shook his head. 'I can do this.' He told himself. "Servine! Leafe Storm." He ordered. Servine launched its attack, but Paul did nothing for defense.
"What Paul doing?" Dawn questioned.
"I think I know." Zoey told her.
Right as the Leafe Storm got close. "Now! Use Lava Plume." Paul ordered. From there, Magmortar unleashed a massive amount of scarlet flames that hit booth the Leafe Storm and Servine.
"No! Servine." Trip called out.
After the attack, Servine had swirly eyes. Calem pointed his hand up. "Servine is unable to battle. Magmortar wins." He stated as he aimed his arm at Magmortar.
Trip returned his Servine and looked at its poke ball. "You did good. Get some rest." Trip told Servine before he switched poke balls.
"Did you see that?" Misty said with a gasp.
"I know, right! He took out Servine with one hit." Dawn complimented.
Zoey only smiled, knowing him. "That's my Paul." She stated.
Paul waited for him to choose his next Pokémon. "Okay then. Come on out…Klang." Trip calls out. From the burst of white light, Kang made its debut appearance in front of them.
"Wait! Klang?" Dawn questioned as she pulled out her poke dex and Serena and Ash did the same. They each went off. "No information available for this Pokemon." Serena's and Dawn's stated. "Information for this Pokoemon is currently unknown." It informed him.
"I've never heard about that Pokemon either." Zoey commented.
"I'm not surprised as this Pokemon, along with many others, doesn't travel outside of my home region." Trip told them. Yet, Iris knew about that Pokemon and she had a feeling about where Trip might have been from as she pretty much detected that he wasn't from Kanto. "Also, I'm going to show you how well I can dish out. Use Discharge." Trip commanded.
Klange unleashed a fairly large flare of electricity, but Paul was more than ready. "Dodge, and use Lava Plume again." Paul ordered. Magmortar managed to jump over the Discharge and unleashed another massive amount of scarlet flames as it made direct contact Klang, knocking it out.
Trip was incredibly shocked by this. "Th-this can't be…" he stammered in disbelief.
"Believe it. Two down. One to go." Paul warned him.
"Wow! Paul has certain gotten stronger over time." Dawn acknowledged, admiring how far he had come. This gave her a sly smile, knowing she had to pull this. "Almost makes me jealous he isn't my boyfriend." She said jokingly to Zoey.
"Oh brother. He isn't…" "We'll soon see, after the battle." Misty told her, teasingly.
That kind of bothered Kenny but Dawn took his hand and stayed close to him. He smiled and gently squeezed her hand with his.
Paul was once again waiting as Trip had returned his Klang. "You did good. Rest up." He told his partner before switching again. "I can't believe it. Two of my Pokémon down while you still have your other two." Trip said to him in a very angry manner.
Paul kept a stern face on him, not even flitching. "Either you show your actual strength, or you'll prove my point." Paul told him.
Trip was very agitated and threw another poke ball. "Come on out, Machop." Trip called out as well.
"Machop, huh?" Dawn wondered as she and Serena used their poke dex's once again to get data from this one.
They each beeped. "Machop! The Superpower Pokémon. Always brimming with power, it passes time by lifting boulders. Doing so makes it even stronger. It loves to work out and build its muscles. It is never satisfied, even if it trains hard all day long." The poke dex informed them.
"I hope he knows what he's doing." Ash said.
"I strongly doubt it, but we'll see." Iris added.
"All I have to do is beat your Magmortar and one more Pokémon." Trip stated.
Paul closed his eyes. "We'll see about that." He told him.
"Grr…use Karate Chop." Trip called out. Machop ran as fast as it could, even as Paul didn't move nor open his eyes.
"Use Fire Punch to launch it over, then finish it with Flame Burst." Pauly simply ordered.
Everyone watched as Magmortar's arm caught flame as it punched Machop over itself before using Flame Burst from its canons, knocking out the Superpower Pokemon.
"All of Trip's Pokémon are unable to battle." Calem announced as he swung his arms to the side, but he pointed in Paul's direction after putting one arm down. "The winner of this battle goes to Paul and his Magnemite and Magmortar." He stated.
Paul opened his eyes before returning Mogmortar to its poke ball. "Return. You deserve a good rest.
Trip did the same thing with his Machop before looking at his poke ball. "I'm sorry. I wasn't strong enough." Trip told his Pokemon before he put his poke ball away.
"Listen, Trip." Paull started as Trip looked at him. "I know and understand why you're doing this to Ash, but this isn't the answer." Paul stated. Trip looked at him with a straight face, but Paul knew something he needed to hear. "Upon seeing how you talked about Ash at the party, saying that he was a weakling. I'll admit, Ash wasn't as strong as me when we first met, but he's managed to beat me three times. Or multiple times if you think about it." Paul told him before he opened his eyes.
"You see. I might have won, but I lost a lot more than I gained. Beating Ash didn't make me any better. Only worse." Paul informed Trip. "I had a bit of an ego and only wanted the strongest Pokemon and be greater than my brother. All that made me was nothing more than a cold hearted person who didn't care about myself, the Pokémon or anyone else." He told Trip. Trip was stunned as his mouth was open as he listened to Paul. "But after Ash beat me in the Sinnoh League and after he gained victory there. I saw how far greater he was compared to me. Hence is why I started to look for myself. To understand myself better. Not just for me, but my Pokémon." Paul stated.
"Paul." Zoey whispered to herself, feeling her heart tug at her to confess her feelings for him.
Trip went into a thought process, as he started to think on what Paul said. "A bet is a bet." He confirmed. "I won't take on anymore gyms for two weeks and I'll battle you again to see if I'm ready to take on Ash." Trip stated as he turned around and walked away.
The others watched him as he walked away, not knowing what was going through his mind.
"What do you all think?" Ash asked them.
Serena crossed her arms as she watched him. "There's probably he has a lot to learn by. I know I still do; but at least I'm not trying to hurt people." She stated.
"I know what you mean by that." Misty added as she had been through multiple other situations.
After the whole battle, Zoey went up to Paul and he looked at her. "Huh? Yeah, Zoe?" he asked her.
"Paul. With how you handled him and took care of everything. I must say this. You've come a long way." She told him.
"Huh? I have?" he asked her with surprised face.
"Mmhm and I couldn't be any prouder of you." She told him. From there she wrapped her arms around his neck and carefully - after one minor withdrawal - planted her lips on his. Seeing what she was doing surprised him a good bit, but he returned the kiss. He held her close and she did the same as they shared their first kiss.
Everyone smiled at the sight and they were happy for them getting together.
With Misty, however, one thing was on her mind now as she went up to Ash and he looked at her. "With all that now done. My schedule is now open for our date." She reminded him.
"Ha! Yeah. I'm ready." He told her with a thumbs up.
Misty giggled a little but the other girls surrounded Misty, each one with a sly look. Misty looked at them, very confused. "Uuhhh, yes?" she questioned.
"With your date now back on." Dawn started with a tease.
Serena wrapped her arm around her shoulders as did May.
"It's time you got ready, the right way." May told her.
"And we know how to do it." Serena confirmed and they gave off small laughs.
Iris giggled, seeing this. "I best join in. Can't let them have all the fun." She said to herself smiling.
After Paul and Zoey broke the kiss, they looked at each other. Zoey smiled at him and caressed his cheek as he looked at her with a lot of shock and awe. "Z-Z…" "Paul." She said to him to tell him. "I probably know what you're going to say, and I'll admit it as well. I have feelings for you. Feelings that I didn't even know were there until a little while ago." She told him.
"Y-you mean. When you saved me from that avalanche?" he asked her. She nodded as she still smiled. "I will admit it, Zoe. I do have feelings for you as well. I didn't know how to tell you or express them, but I think they're my love for you." He told her.
"S-same here." She replied as she stammered slightly. He smiled at her as he leaned his head on hers and kissed her nose. She giggled and noticed the girls were well ahead of them and she looked at him. "I best catch up with them to help get Misty ready." She told him before she kissed his cheek and started for them but turned back around to look at him. "Also, I can't wait until our first date." She added before she continued on.
Paul was very shocked but smiled as he blinked his eyes, giving off a single nod. Ash went up to him along with Drew, Kenny and Calem and Paul looked at them. "Hmm! What is it?" he asked them.
Drew merely smiled as he closed his eyes and flipped his hair. "Seems like someone has himself a girlfriend." Drew stated as he opened his eyes.
Paul was about to retort until Kenny swung his arm around him and gave off a cheeky smile. "Don't deny anything. You know it's true." He told him.
Ash came up to him as well. "He's right you know. Can't deny it. You both just confessed your feelings." He stated as he smiled.
Paul only rolled his eyes, not just annoyed but knowing he was defeated.
Calem went up to Ash, knowing what they needed to do next. "As for "dates," I'd say it's time we got you ready for yours." Calem told Ash.
Ash got a little freaked out. "What the…oh no!" he stated.
Kenny and Drew went to either side of Ash, further freaking him out. "It's time we got you ready for your date." Kenny told him.
"And you have nothing to worry about, except torture, ha, ha, ha." Drew said as he laughed.
"This won't go too well." Ash commented as they took him with them.
As they did, Trip watched from a bit of a distance. Even though Paul had beaten him and told him what he needed to learn, Trip was incredibly angry. He seriously didn't like what all Paul did to him. He felt completely humiliated from that, and he wanted payback for that.
Sometime later on, Ash was now properly dressed, with the exception of his hair as it was hard to get under control. He was now in a black dress up shirt, three buttons right below the neck. Some black jeans, black and white shoes with white socks. Ash looked at himself in the mirror. "I'll still admit, I'm not quite used to this." He stated.
"Hey, not everyone dresses up. Besides that, you need to look great for your girlfriend." Drew teased him and Ash rolled his eyes.
"Not to mention, what about the Wallace Cup?" Kenny asked him.
"That was completely different. I just hope she likes how I look." Ash told them.
"I know she'll be amazed. Possibly speechless. Now for another touch or two." Drew said, knowing how Ash needs to look.
"Now this will be interesting." Calem said with a sly smile.
With Misty, the girls managed to get her ready fairly quickly. She was now in a green dress, with blue low heels, her now longer hair done up behind her in a ponytail, a bit of blush., lipstick and her nails done in a glossy green color.
The girls were analyzing her, trying to make sure she was ready for her date. Serena, May and Dawn each made their fingers into picture frames to know how well Misty was looking.
Dawn smiled and put her hands down. "Seems like she's ready." She stated with her hands on her hips and eyes closed.
"You know it, Dawn. Ash will be drooling over her." Serena confirmed.
Zoey had a small laugh. "I don't know why you guys are making sure she's precisely on point." She stated.
"Especially since she's going out on a date." Iris added.
"Trust me. When Drew and I started to date. I always wanted to look my best." She told them.
"Hasn't he asked you yet, then?" Dawn asked her.
"Not yet. I'm sure he's just waiting for the right time." May told them.
"I'll be surprised if he does it during the dance." Zoey mentioned.
"That'll be very romantic if he does." Misty stated.
They continued having their conversations as Ash now had some flowers to give to Misty. Drew gave off a 'muwa' kiss with the finger motion. "Now you're all set." He told Ash.
"Yeesh! Even though I wore a tuxedo at the Wallace Cup. I don't feel like myself in this." Ash informed them.
"Oh would you relax. You'll be fine." Kenny reassured him. "It's not like you're getting married." Kenny told him.
Paul gave off a small laugh. "Speaking of which. Are you even going to ask her?" he asked Ash.
"W-what the…of course not. Well…I mean…oh boy. Yes, I do want to ask her to marry me, but I know we're not ready." He told them.
"Either way, you best not keep your date waiting." Calem told him.
They all started to walk Ash outside of the store and the doors opened to let them out. "So what do I do? I've never been like this before and we only went out on one date." Ash told them.
"Even so, just give her the flowers. She'll be smitten by them." Drew told Ash.
"Also, take her to a nice restaurant. Nothing too fancy. I strongly doubt there's any here." Kenny told him.
"Plus, make sure you compliment her on her looks and how amazing she is." Paul told him.
"Also, be yourself with her." Calem stated.
"That's one thing I've been for many years. I've been myself in front of her since we first met." Ash told him.
"Even so. Get moving and have a great time." Calem told Ash as he slapped his back playfully.
"Okay. I'll be back later on." Ash called out to them. From there he departed, a small distance away.
"Our little boy is all grown up." Drew teased.
"Much like how he was grown up in Sinnoh." Kenny joked and they had a small laugh.
"I heard that." Ash called to them as he kept walking.
"I'd say we best be careful of what we say. Ash has some pretty good ears." Calem commented.
"You know it." Ash replied as he kept walking.
"Definitely good, and yet, I'm the oldest." Paul noted. They all nodded as they noted that as well.
As Ash was now walking to pick up Misty, he looked at his companion. "I might have to leave you behind for this one, buddy. I'd like for this to be just me and Misty, okay?" He requested.
"Pika. Pikachu pika pi pika-chu. (Okay. I'll stay behind for you and your girlfriend.)" Pikachu teased.
"Jeez, Pikachu. We're not even an item yet." Ash began to retort.
"And you never will." A voice said. Ash was very confused as to where that came from until he got PUNCHED and Pikachu leapt off his shoulder as Ash landed with a thud. He rubbed his eye from where the fist landed. "Ow! Where did that…" "Get up." The same voiced demanded.
Ash looked up at the person and saw that it was Trip. "What the…Trip?" Ash questioned.
"I said…get up." Trip demanded. Ash didn't know what his game was so he did so until Trip punched him again and Ash landed with another thud.
Pikachu's cheeks began to spark as he warned him with a 'Pika pika!,' ready to deliver a Thunderbolt until Ash put his hand in front of him. Pikachu gave off a 'pi?' questioning Ash as Ash sat up. "Ugh. What was that for?" Ash demanded as he rubbed the same spot, but Trip only looked down at him.
"If you think you've even remotely have won. You're dead wrong." Trip started. "I see you for how you really are. Nothing more than a wimp. Those victories, even against that one trainer that had a Darkrai and a Latios. He should've gained the victory. Not you." Trip told Ash. "Not to mention, that red head. I really wanted that date with her as she deserves more than a loser." He claimed before he began to walk off, stepping on the flowers.
Ash was incredibly angry, but he decided to let it go as he didn't want to be late when he picked Misty up. He picked up the flowers and Pikachu scampered back onto his shoulder.
"Pika pika? (Are you okay?)" Pikachu asked.
Ash dusted himself off and looked to his buddy. "Yep. Just fine. We don't want to be late, though." Ash informed his partner.
"Pika chu pika. (Aren't we already.)" Pikachu teased.
"Oh ha, ha. Let's just get there before she gets worried." Ash retorted as he continued on. Pikachu only gave off a cheeky smile as he knew Ash incredibly well. But when he did get back to the hotel, he left Pikachu in the boys room and went to the girls room.
Misty was waiting for him, a bit antsy since this was their second date. 'I hope he's okay.' She thought to herself. Dawn about got up to comfort Misty until there was two knocks at the door. "Huh?" Misty wondered. She got up and went over to the door and opened it, and right there was Ash with a bouquet of flowers in his hand as he smiled at her. The other girls quickly ran to hide behind a wall in order to peek around the corner.
"H-hey Mist. Sorry if I'm a bit late." He told her.
"That's alright A…" that's when she noticed his black eye and gave off a small gasp. "Ash. Your eye." She mentioned as she reached up to gingerly touch it. "Wha-what happened?" she asked him as her words stammered.
"Eh, it's nothing to worry about." He told Misty. That was when they got a good look at each other, gawking a bit as how they each looked.
"Yeesh. Ash has some black eye, but he isn't even worried about it." Dawn commented.
"Yeah, no kidding. At least he's keeping cool about it." May added.
"I wonder what all happened." Serena questioned.
"I doubt we'll find out." Iris stated.
"Hang on. They noticed how they each look." Zoey informed them.
"Y-You look beautiful/handsome." They each said as they looked at each other. They both had a bit of a laugh at that.
"A pretty good recovery. All Ash has to do is make the next move." May stated thoughtfully.
Ash then put out his arm after Misty accepted the flowers and sniffed them. "Are you ready?" he asked her. She smiled at him and took his arm after setting the flowers on the table next to her so they wouldn't get lost.
"I'm ready whenever you are." She told him with a smile and they headed out and closed the door behind them.
"I hope that was the move, May." Dawn told her.
"Not really, but it worked." May stated.
"Let's hope they have a good time." Serena said.
"I'm sure they will." Zoey told her with a smile.
As Ash and Misty went out for a bit and hit up a restaurant. They had some conversations and a few laughs. After eating, they went to the park and had a romantic moon light walk. Enjoying each other's time, Staying out for some time until they got back to the hotel.
They took the elevator up and Ash walked Misty up to where the girls were staying.
"I really had a great time, Ash." Misty told him.
"I'm glad you did. I hope we can do this gain real soon." Ash commented.
"I'm sure we will." Misty replied as she reached in her wallet for her key card.
"I'll still say this, that you look incredibly beautiful. And I like your longer hair." Ash told her.
Misty managed to get her key card. "And you look incredibly hand…" that's when Ash's lips met hers real briefly; but not before Misty returned it, just barely in time. Ash caught her by surprised.
"Night, Mist." He told her before he left for the boys room.
Misty was very speechless as she was recovering from that sneak kiss Ash gave her. She then realized what just happened and shook her head. "N-Night, Ash." She replied as she stammered a bit. From there she entered into the girls room after using the key card. Once she did, she carefully closed the door and gave off a sigh of relief as she put her back against the door and put her hand over her heart. "If-if this is love…" she started until she saw the girls beaming at her. "Uh…yes?" she questioned until she was pulled away by them and was sat on the bed.
"Okay, Misty. Tell us what happened." Dawn started to pry the information from her.
"Don't skip the details." May added.
"W-well…" Misty started, realizing that she was having a very difficult time talking. She explained everything, all the down to the kiss he gave her.
The girls squealed in pure joy. "Misty, Drew did that to me after some of the dates we had." May told her.
Misty was shocked by this. "W-wait. He did?" Misty asked.
"Definitely." May confirmed.
"As for right now. I'd say we get some sleep. We have a bit of traveling tomorrow." Zoey reminded them.
"Yeah. No kidding." Dawn confirmed.
From there, they all took showers individually, changed into heir pajamas or remained in their outfits and they managed to fit on the two beds. Three each to a bed. Even though they were crowded, they were still pretty comfortable.
With the boys, Ash had just gotten in, Pikachu now asleep on Ash's bed as he was now getting ready, but the boys casually looked at him and Ash noticed this, before getting ready for a shower. "Huh? What is it?" he asked them.
"How was your date?" Paul asked as he smirked until he noticed the black eye as did the other boys. "What happ..."
"The black eye is nothing to worry about." Ash started. "As for the date. It was really good. Misty and I had a great time." Ash told them.
"Did you give her a kiss goodnight?" Drew questioned in a teasing tone.
"Yes. I gave her a kiss goodnight." Ash replied.
"Seems like Ash is all grown up." Kenny teased.
"Oh ha, ha, Kenny." Ash retorted as he went into the bathroom. He came out not long after as he dried his hair. "Over these years, I honestly believe I had a thing for Misty." He told them.
"Then what happened over that time?" Drew asked.
"I dunno." Ash replied calmly. "My only guess could be is that I thought she had moved on, so I probably forgot about love over time." He told them.
"How could she have moved on?" Calem requested.
"After we went our separate ways, I felt like she wanted to move on." Ash said a bit sorrowfully. "Right now, I strongly doubt we even did." He said.
"Sounds like some denial issues." Kenny mentioned.
Ash looked to him. "Huh? How so?" Ash asked him.
"Well, think about it. You honestly thought she moved on, but she didn't. She probably thought you moved on, but you didn't." Kenny informed him.
"Kenny is right. From what I've seen, she hasn't been interested in anyone else. You ask her out on a couple of dates and she instantly said yes." Drew reminded him.
"I might be younger, but even I can understand love. I'm just not for sure if I've found the right girl, yet." Calem mentioned.
Kenny grew a cheeky smile. "Are you sure you're not interested in Serena or Iris?" he asked in a teasing tone.
Calem looked to him, a bit annoyed. "With Serena, I am interested in her. Just not for sure by how much." He told them. "I do wonder if she is interested in me." He mentioned thoughtfully as he put his fingers and thumb on his chin and rubbed it. "Plus, with Iris. I'm not sure if I have any feelings for her. I think she might be more like a sister over anything more." He told them.
"As for right now. I know we have a bit of traveling tomorrow. So let's go ahead and rest up." Ash told them.
From there they each had their showers, changed into their PJs or remained in their regular clothes and went to bed. Before Ash did, he took the medicine Nurse Joy gave him. Luckily enough, they were able to fit in the beds.
The next day they all were up, had breakfast and went to their rooms to pack their stuff. Once they were ready, they each came out of the two rooms.
"Okay guys. Are we ready?" Ash asked them.
"I'd say we all are." Paul confirmed as he took Zoey's hand.
"Okay then, guys. Let's head out." Ash told them.
"Pi pikachu. (Definitely.)" Pikachu agreed.
They all went to the lobby to check out and they went over to the Pokémon Center to pick up Ash's Pokémon. Not only that, but Ash switched out some of his Pokémon as well. It was from right there they all departed. Ready for what was on the road ahead.
