1st Case: "The Mystery Begins"
Coolsville, population: 81,000, 'A cool place to live'
A school bus for Coolsville High drives through the middle class suburbs and stops to pick up some students. After they board, the bus driver closes the door only for another student to rush to the bus stop.
"Like, wait for me!", a tall scrawny-looking teenage.
The teen was tall for his age, with a lean build that came off as scrawny. He had black eyes, and messy sandy brown / dirty blonde hair, with some facial hair on his chin. Today he wore a green short-sleeve V-neck t-shirt, brown jean pants, and black shoes that look like they belong to a runner. [1]
This is Norville Rogers, commonly referred to as "Shaggy" by everyone, even his parents and little sister.
The bus driver opens the door for him, briefly smacking the teen in his face.
Shaggy shakes it off and goofily smiles to the bus driver as he boards, "Thanks. It won't happen again. Heh"
The bus driver sighs and closes the door before beginning to drive the rest of his route.
Shaggy walked down the bus aisle, looking for a seat.
"Hey, mind if I-?", but the person he asked stared at him like a psycho as he puts his own bag in the seat so Shaggy wouldn't sit there, "Got it", and he continued down the aisle.
Only to be tripped and fall to the ground, "Zoinks!", and most laughed, with the bus driver shaking his head in exhauserbation at the commotion.
"Have a nice trip, Shaggy? Ha-ha", the heavy weight tripped him laughed
"Hey, yep, sure did", Shaggy nervously laughs, "just like, uh, yesterday and the day before that, and the day before that", before continuing looking for a seat.
The bully goes to high-five his blonde teammate sitting beside him but he only looked on in disappoint while shaking his head.
"Grow up man", he told him.
This guy is just shorter than Shaggy, with a more muscular build built from playing sports. He had combed blonde hair and blue eyes. Today, he wore a blue polo shirt under a white varsity sweater with a single blue stripe across the chest, blue jeans, and white & blue sneakers. [2]
This is Frederick Herman Jones, commonly referred to as "Fred" or "Freddy" by others.
Shaggy goes to sit next to a girl in orange but she quickly stops him.
"Hey, watch out!", she yells.
"Sorry", Shaggy apologized.
She lifts a scientific contraption from the seat then Shaggy sat beside her.
The girl was short in appearance. She was latin-caucasian mix with auburn chin-length messy hair with her bangs swooped to her left (mystery begins hair style), and brown eyes. She wore a loose-fitting orange turtleneck sweater with a red skirt, orange knee-socks, an red converse shoes. [3]
This is Velma Dinkley, the smartest girl in school.
"Be careful", she warns Shaggy in calm tone of voice.
Shaggy looks to the device, "What do you got there? Trying to build a better mousetrap?", he smiles, going to touch it.
Velma slaps his hand away, "This is the prototype of a ethanol-based, self-circulating nanoreactor. It filters negative energy through a quantum matric by compressing relative density of atomic matter", Shaggy got confused and had left for another seat while she wasn't looking, "Which I know sounds highly unstable, unless you invert the Zirconium".
Shaggy walks to a red girl reciting words from a Romeo & Juliet script.
She has a fit and firm teen build. She had long red hair, almost orange in color, with a unique lavender eye color (Scoob! hair and Mystery Inc. eye color). She wore a purple long-sleeve front-zipper dress with light purple / mauve lines going down the arms, down along the zipper, and around her waist with a short silk green scarf tied around her neck, pink pantyhose over her legs, and purple tennis shoes on her feet. A purple headband was in her hair. [4]
This is Daphne Blake, youngest daughter of the richest family in Coolsville.
"Uh, escuseth me", Shaggy interrupts her, "Do you mind if I just, uh, get in there?", he asks her for him to sit beside the window in the empty seat next to her.
"Oh, sure. Just let me move my bag", Daphne tells him with a smile.
"Okay, perfect. Thanks", Shaggy says as he then awkwardly goes over her to the seat.
"Oh, uh, let me just...", Daphne goes as she tries to lean back with her stuff..
"I'm just gonna go over...", Shaggy uses his long legs over her to the seat, but accidently crumples her script, "made it", as he sits with a smile.
Daphne awkwardly smiles before going back to her script.
Shaggy pulls out a sandwich from his bag for a post breakfast morning snack, the smell of which drew Daphne's attention.
Shaggy looks to her, "Care for a bite?", he asks.
"What is it?", she cautiously asks him.
"It's a PB and P", Shaggy says before opening up to show her, "Peanut Butter and Pickles".
Daphne was disturbed by the food combo and changes seats.
She sits next to Velma, "They scoffed Oppenheimer too you know", Velma was still speaking from earlier, "But when I realized the kinetic instability could be addressed by reversing polarity of the cadmium core- Coila, I knew everyone at the science fair would bow before me", she turns to her left, expecting to see Shaggy, only to see a confused Daphne.
"Oh, hello", Velma nervously greets, "What I was saying is this is the prototype of an ethanol-based, self circulating nanoreactor", and Daphne leaves the seat while she's looking away.
Shaggy sighs happily as he eats his sandwich.
They soon arrive at the school and everyone disembarks off the bus.
"Alright, have a good one, Velma", the bus driver waves goodbye as she leaves with her project.
As Shaggy is walking down the aisle to get off, the bully had waited and tripped him again.
"It's just so easy", the bully cheered.
"Just go", Fred pushed him out of the seat and down the aisle to get off the bus.
Shaggy quickly arrives to his locker. He had got the lock off, but the handle was stuck as it wasn't opening. He was getting nervous as there were girls around him before he put his foot on the locker next to his and pushed it while he pulled on the locker handle.
It suddenly comes open and Shaggy flies back before falling into an empty trashcan as the Janitor was holding the bag.
"Ah, dammit", the janitor moans in annoyance as the trash can Shaggy was rolls down the hall, "I hate this job".
Shaggy ends up rolling directly into the main office an into the Principal's Office and hits the carpet, causing the Trashcan to tip and Shaggy to flip out, accidentally lands in the seat before the school's principal, Principal Deedle, a curly haired middle aged man that wore a brown tweed suit with a bow tie around his neck.
"Locker Problems again, Mr Rogers?", he knowingly asks the teen, as it has happened before, while he finishes some paperwork.
"Yeah, I, uh-", Shaggy nervously stutters, "I seem to get the squirrelly one every year. Heh."
Principal Deedle puts his pen done and looks to Shaggy, "I like to think I'm in the know with the on goings of C.H. And if we're "keeping it real", I can't help but notice you've always had a hard time finding a group of friends to "kick it" with", at Shaggy's confusion to the lingo, Deedle clarifies, "Friends, Mr Rogers. Do you have any?"
"Uh, friends?", Shaggy nervously asks before he waves off with, "yeah. Like, I got- I got tons of those, you know. Just lots. They are always inviting me to this-", Deedle looks away in doubt, "We're going to the park and, uh, throwing and- Hey is that a new bow tie?", trying to vainly change the subject in the end.
"Right", Principal Deedle nods with a strained smile before saying, "Believe it or not, I had a hard time forming connections with people. And what helped me was having a hobby, stamp collecting. Do you have a hobby or any extra-curricular activities, Mr Rogers?"
"Uh, well, I am part of the gymnastics team, actually", Shaggy says. [5]
"Yes", Deedle nods, "I heard you were one of, if not, the best gymnast we have".
"Yeah", Shaggy nods as well, "Though I don't participate in any events due to how nervous I get with people watching me", he then goes on to say, "Oh, and I, like, practice ventriloquism and throwing my voice". [5.5]
"Oh", Deedle exclaims in surprise, "Like that comedian, Jeff Dunham?".
Shaggy nods before both hear the bell for classes to begin.
Deedle sits up, "So, Norville, I guess what I'm trying to get at is... don't give up. You'll find people you fit in with. They may not know it themselves, but they're out there, waiting to fit in with you too. And until that day...", he takes out a book about stamp collecting.
"'Philately is Phun'?", Shaggy read the cover, "Uh, thanks", and goes to leave for class with the book, grabbing the trash can up and taking it back to where it belongs as he goes.
At A Park in Town
"Welcome to the coolsville Pet Adoption Fair", says a man over the PA, "Open up or hearts to an adorable puppy, kitten o adult pets. They don't get any cuter than these little guys"
Within the fair, we see an elderly man trying to give a mother and her son a dog.
"I think we want something a little bigger", the mother tells man.
"Well, I think we got just the dog for you", he smiles and walks over to the center of the fair with them, "Here he is. Meet our Pet of the Day. He's very affectionate. He'd bring joy to any family".
The dog in question is a grown Great Dane though his face weirdly looked like that of a puppy Great Dane. He had brown fur with some black spots on his back and limbs. He wore a blue-green (turquoise?) collar, with a golden diamond shaped tag with a matching background to the color and two golden letters, S and D. [6]
This dog is Scoobert Doo.
He smiles with his tail wagging and his tongue hanging out like he's a typical dog.
"Are you kidding? that thing looks like it could eat us out of house and home", the woman guffaws at the man.
"No no no no no no", Scoobert grumbles in denial, revealing his ability to talk.
The woman looked on with a scowl, displeased with the dog, as she guided her son away from the seller and dog with Scoobert whining.
"Don't worry, Scoobert. I have a feeling that you're finally getting adopted today. i just know it", the pat fair coordinator tells the dog, making said dog smile again.
The old man leaves to help with the fair while Scoobert excitally looks around for anyone that could be his adopter.
After a moment of no one looking at him, he started to do a tone as he danced, holding up signs saying that he's housebroken, good with kids, Hypoallergenic, and such to draw attention but he was ignored, causing him to get depressed again.
Before long, a little girl with her dad walk by and she exclaims, "That one".
Bringing Scoobert out of his funk, "Huh?"
"I want that one, daddy", the girl tells her father while pointing at Scoobert.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah", Scoobert nods his head excitedly.
"This is the last time I tell you can get anything you want", the father complains with a sigh, while the little girl gets excited.
The girl goes to Scoobert while her dad flags down the fair coordinator.
"Heya, boy", the girl greets.
"Hi", the dad greets the coordinator, "We'll take that one", gesturing to Scoobert real quick, with a strained smile.
"That one? Really?", he asks the dad in surprise, smiling in the end.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah", Scoobert nods in excitement.
"Oh, gosh, you know, we're gonna be really sorry to see him go", The coordinator falsely tells the father before going, "I'll get the paperwork", and almost runs out of there.
The father sighs before saying to Scoobert, "Well, fella, you ready to meet your new family?"
"Yeah!", Scoobert gruffly yells out before he jumps out of his pen and runs to the father before jumping onto him.
"No, no!", the father yells out.
"Daddy!", the daughter yells as Scoobert jumps onto her father, screaming as they fell.
The father screamed in duress as Scoobert licked his face in a wild manner.
"Scoobert, no!", the Coordinator yells as he drops the paperwork.
"Somebody get him off me! This crazy mutt is out of control!", the father yells out.
Many Hours Later
"Thank you all for our most successful pet adoption fair ever", the man on the PA announces as the fair was being taken down in the square.
Scoobert was locked up in a cage too small for him, whining as he is loaded onto a truck by the workers, as he wasn't adopted.
"Next month for sure, Scoobert", The coordinator comforts as he is loaded onto the open back truck, "I just know it", Scoobert could only whine in doubt which the coordinator shared as he sighs.
The truck for the fair pulls away and takes Scoobert and the equipment away for the day. It continued till they came across a small construction site on the road, causing the truck to veer away from it, which in turn caused the back to bust open and the cage holding Scoobert to fly out.
"*howls*", Scoobert lets out as he fell before landing and the cage breaking ope to pieces, freeing the great dane.
Scoobert shakes it off before he notices the truck was still driving, away from where he was, "Huh?", he then tries to chase it, "Hey. Hey. Hey, wait for me", the truck rounds a corner, "Hey. Wait for-", he pants as he stops in the street, losing the truck, "Wait for me!", he cries as he waves for the truck to comeback, even though it never would.
Later, in the Dark of Night
At Shaggy's home, he laid in his bed within his basement bedroom.
The bedroom had wooden panel walls and green shag carpet. His bed was against the wall just below the basement window, reversed placement so he can look outside to the stairs and moon while he lays there. Skateboards hung on the wall above his bed but under the window. He had a chair and loveseat couch for sitting an the other side of the room. A flat smart tv against a wall with a gaming system below it. A closet by the stairs the headed up to the main house set up. A dresser next to it with a blacklight art above it. Opposite of the stairs, was a door that lead outside, due to the house being on a slope. By the door is where Shaggy stores his shoes and jackets/coats for when he leaves outside. A bathroom was on the other side of the stairway
Shaggy was in his pajamas, shades of green silk with his name stitch on his chest. A gift from his grandparents. They were a little bag in case he kept growing over the next year or so.
Shaggy was reading the book before looking at the cover again, "Philately is phun? Phooey", before tossing it off the bed behind him and looking out the window with his hands held behind his head as clouds begin to cover the moon.
With Scoobert
The loveable Great Dane was wondering the wilderness at night as he could hear the howls of wolves, whining at being alone in the dark as he sees the moon get fully covered by the clouds in the night sky.
He shutters and teeth chatter as he shivers from a the winds picking up and he hears thunder, the lightning showing that he is just outside of an old cemetery
"Yipe!", Scooby yips in fear.
The winds howl as it blows so hard that some of the ancient tombstones wobble from the force before lightning struck one in front of Scoobert
"Raah!", he screams in fear and runs away from the creepy graveyard.
He zooms across the fields and woods before hopping over a stone fence then soon running through a red wood one eventually he runs in through an unlocked basement window, blinded by his fear, before falling onto an occupied bed.
The white blanket rises from the bed in a human shape, "Raah!", Scoobert screamed.
Shaggy flings the cover off him at the figure on him from the yelling, covering the dog in the blanket and Shaggy to scream as he thinks its a ghost, "Aagh!", "Ragh!", the ghost screamed back, "Aagh!", Shaggy screamed again before tearing the banket away to reveal the Great Dane.
After a brief screaming match from the panic, the two started to laugh as they calm down.
Scoobert than remembered he was running and goes to the window, closing it, locking it, and then shutting the curtains over it.
"What's the matter, boy?", Shaggy asks the dogas he hid under the covers, "Something out there got you spooked?"
"Cemetery! Cemetery!", Scoobert yells out in fear.
"Remetary?", Shaggy asks in confusion due to Scoobert's dog accent, not even put off by the fact that a dog can talk due to it being revealed that some dogs can talk years ago, "Like, there's a old cemetery from when Coolsville was first founded near here. Do you mean that?"
"Yes!", Scoobert cries out.
"It's okay, boy", Shaggy says with a smile as he takes off the blanket to look at Scoobert, "You're safe here with me", calming Scoobert down, "My name's Norville, but most people call me Shaggy
"Shaggy", Scoobert repeats.
Shaggy goes to Scoobert's tags on his caller, "Let's see what your name is", he reads it, "Scoobert Doo. Like, I wonder if people call you Scooby. Kind of has a nice ring to it, don't you think?"
"Scooby? Yeah, yeah", the newly dubbed Scooby smiles at Shaggy while nodding in agreement.
"Heh heh. Well, then it's nice to meet you, Scooby-Doo", Shaggy happily greets while shaking Scooby's paw.
"Nice to meet you, Shaggy", Scooby replies with his own smile before they ended the shake.
Shaggy then relooks at the tag, "I don't see anything else on your tags. Who's your owner? Where do you belong, boy?"
Scooby looks in in sadness, "Nowhere. My parents had me and the rest of the litter up for adoption, and I'm the only one who wasn't".
Shaggy looks down in sadness as well before gaining a smile as he looks to Scooby again, "Well, you're welcome to stay here with me".
"Really?", Scooby excitedly asks him
Shaggy smiles at him, "We can be friends. How does that sound?"
Scooby then tackles Shaggy in happiness and licked his face like he did earlier today with the father, only unlike then, Shaggy was laughing
The weekend was then spent telling his parents and sister about his new dog, which they didn't really have an objection to due to how happy he was, with his sister trying to play with Scooby. They then went to a park to bond, throwing and catching a frisbee. Both of them threw it at the other like humans with their hands/paws and caught it like dogs with their mouths. At home for lunch, Shaggy made one of his massive Super Sandwiches, only for Scooby to steal it for himself, showing he had the same kind of appetite as Shaggy. Shaggy game Scooby belly rubs, which Scooby returned in kind to Shaggy.
Needless to say, both enjoyed their time together and already see each other as best friends forever.
It was Monday and Shaggy had to go to school once more. Not wanting to be seperated from their best pal, the duo came up with a genius plan.
The bus arrives to pick up Shaggy and a "New Student" which was actually Scooby in disguise.
Shaggy was now wearing a a short sleeve green t-shirt over a white shirt, brown cargo pants, and black and white converse sneakers. [7]
Scooby was wearing baggy cloths that Shaggy's dad had. Cargo pants, combat boots, t-shirt, and a baggy hoodie, with sun glasses and a medical mask on his face.
Both Shaggy and Scooby act casual as they board the bus.
"Hello", Scooby casually greets to seem less suspicious, despite the fact that the bus driver was looking at him weird, "Nice bus".
The bus driver shakes his head and they began the drive to school.
"I told you this would work", Shaggy says to Scooby, "People barely even know that I'm-", before he falls as he is tripped again with his bully laughing.
"Neanderthals", Velma mutters while rolling her eyes at the childish bullying.
Today she was wearing a sweater vest with a diamond pattern of shades of orange, a white short sleeve button up shirt under it with the collar of it coming out the collar of the vest, orange knee socks, again, and her favored red flats on her feet. [8]
"What are you, five?", Fred asks his teammate.
Today, he was wearing his jeans and brown shoes but this time had on a burgundy and yellow accented polo shirt with their school's brand, as they were doing a prep rally today. [9]
"What are you, the fun police?", the bully laughs
Scooby leans over him and growls, causing the bully to look at him weirdly.
Shaggy drags Scooby along to the back of the bus, "Down boy. Happens all of the time".
"Come on", Shaggy mutters as they sit in the back.
"Lousy son of a...", Scooby grumbles about the bully.
Shaggy starts going though his bag, "I know we didn't have time for breakfast", Shaggy says to Scooby, unaware of him now crawling under the bus seats, "so, uh, wanna go halfsies?", he looks to where Scooby was with a sandwich in hand, "Scooby?", looking around for his dog friend.
Scooby had arrived under the seat of the bully.
"I just don't get what's so fun about doing that to somebody", Freddy tells his team mate.
"Dud, if you don't know-", only to feel a big bite on his ankle, "YAAH!", he yells out and jumps so high his head hits the roof of the bus, drawing everyone's attention.
The red-headed bully looks down and sees the disguised dog, "Oh! Hey, you", he grabs him from under the seat ana drags Scooby up before him, "What are you doing down there, huh?", going to punch him.
"Scooby-Doo!", Shaggy yells out as he stands to go help his friend.
"That's enough!", Fred yells out as he pushes the bully causing him to land on Velma's project as she yells in distress, "Bullying people-", but is caught off as the bully pushes him and he falls back onto Daphne, ripping up her script.
Might as well take the time to say what Daphne is wearing. She wore a purple elbow-length sleeve sweater-like dress with white cuffs and hem, and matching belt with a silver buckle. She also wore a green collared blouse under the dress and lilac high heeled boots on her feet. [10]
"My science project!", Velma yells at them.
The bully picks up Scooby again and prepares, "Buddy, you're gonna get it".
"Don't touch my dog!", Shaggy yells out as he jumps on to his back and wraps his arms around the bully in a sleeper-hold and the trio fall to the aisle floor
Fred is pushed by Daphne and falls onto the pile before both Daphne and Velma come in and being hitting them with their books and bags in retaliation to the wrecked items, shouting in anger.
The bus driver is distracted by their as he arrives at the school, "Hey! Hey you kids! Knock it off back there!", unaware of the buses stopped before him till its almost too late and he quickly turns to the left to avoid crashing only to hit the flag poll in front of the school as the bus stops and for the flag pole to fall onto a car and smash the front windshield
It was a red 2015 Ford Mustang and Vice Principal Grimes' new car.
Grimes had just arrived and saw what happened before he could head inside the school.
"My new car", Grimes growls as he looks at the damage as the alarm went off before the then stalked to the bus like an angry robot.
He knocks on the door and the driver opens it for the Vice Principal, who then boards and demands of the driver, "Who is responsible for this?", as he knew the driver and wouldn't do this himself so recklessly.
He, along with all other student on the bus, points to the dog pile in the aisle consisting of Velma, Daphne, Fred, Shaggy, the redhead bully, and Scooby.
Grimes stares at them with steaming fury as he takes a deep breathe through his nostrils like a bull that was about to rampage.
After School in the Library
Shaggy, Velma, Daphne, and Fred sat at a round table with Grimes explaining their punishment.
"Six weeks of detention?", Daphne incredulously asks the Vice Principal as she stood up, "But vice Principal Grimes, I was merely a victim of circumstance".
"As was I", Velma chimes in.
"And I was only trying to help", Fred adds on.
"Oh, save it", Grimes rebuttals as Daphne sits down in disappointment, "Consider yourselves lucky I'm not suing your parents for damages".
Shaggy raises his hands, "Uh, hey, I was just wondering are snacks provided for us here or do we have to bring our own stuff from home- ?", but Grimes cuts him off.
"You will spend two hours in this room everyday staring at 3;00 pm sharp. Got it?", Grimes loudly states at the end.
Fred raised his hand, and at Grimes look, he stands, "Vice Principal Grimes, with state championships coming up, don't you think an athletic exemption might be in order?", the quarterback tries to get out of his detention via his school star status.
"Athletic Exemption?", Velma angrily stands before Grimes can speak, "What about an exemption for the science fair? The destruction of my prototype is gonna set me back-".
"Stop it!", Daphne yells out as she heard more than enough, "Just stop it", she stands as well, "I cannot believe what I'm hearing. Petty squabbling over athletics, science", making the two feel bad, "Meanwhile, the school play is in jeopardy".
"Oh, my goodness", Velma rolls her eyes while Fred yells, "School play? Come on!".
Grimes then rolls his eyes as the trio began another squabble over how they should be exempted for one reason or another while the Librarian looks on in annoyance at all the loud noise in the library.
Shaggy just looked in in amusement, wondering if this is what it's like to be in a friend group.
Grimes returns with a big book and slams it on the table with a loud *THUD, silencing the teens.
"Enough!", Grimes exclaims as they sit, "No exemptions. No exceptions. No excuses. You're going to be spending a lot of time together. Better get used to it", and goes to walk away to the Librarian.
"Maybe just a pass for today's pep rally?", Fred asks in small hope, only for Grimes to return with his fierce glare, "Gotcha", and looks down in disappointment.
"Uh, like, Mr. Grimes, where's Red at?", Shaggy asks the Vice Principal, causing the others to look around in confusion.
"Yeah, where's Red?", Fred questions for the bully's location.
Grimes looks to them with a sigh, "Mr. Herring was injured by our actions as is thus exempt from the detention", before leaving the library.
Shaggy looked down with a sigh at Red Herring [11] getting away with his own actions again. He always does something but because no one talks or there's no evidence, he gets away fro another day.
Red Herring was the biggest menace in the school, if not the town of Coolsville, but it's always minor and/or relatively harmless.
With Grimes now gone, the Librarian comes forward to the students, "The rules for detention are the same as in the library. That means no talking, no texting, and no eating", growling the last part at Shaggy as he had taken a sandwich out of his bag to eat.
"No fair", Shaggy whines as he was about to take a bite before that, "So, like, what the heck are we supposed to do in a library for two hours?"
"Try reading a book", the librarian snidely says.
Shaggy grumbles, "Yeah, that was the hunger talking", admitting to how stupid his question was.
the Librarian walks away while grumbling herself, "Bad enough they cut the budget, now I've gotta do double-duty...".
Shaggy sighs as he puts away the sandwich while the three others pull out some books to read from their bags.
he then sits there for a second, looking at the trio and their books before noticing something, "Heh. Hey, like, look at that, you all like mysteries, huh?", gesturing to their books with a smile, "Yeah, I'm not so into them myself since my dad works in the police department and is always talking about mysteries he's solving. They kind of freak me out. And, you know, you never know who did it until the end", Velma quirked a smirk as she read her book along with Daphne, "But, hey, I'm open-minded, so I'll give them another chance. Anyone got an extra book?"
Velma looks at him before lifting her hand and gesturing around them, as they were in a library.
Shaggy looks around before remembering, "Oh, heh heh, right. Thanks", he laughs before going to look for the mystery section.
After a moment of silence, Fred looks to Daphne before saying, "Hey, I'm sorry about bumping into you like that on the bus. It really was an accident", causing Velma to look at him in a scowl.
"It's okay, whatever", Daphne waves off.
"No, I didn't mean to-", Fred tries to say but is cut off by Daphne.
"Okay, look", Daphne forcefully smiles, "I really just wanna finish my book. I'm just getting to the good part",
"Okay, okay", Fred nods and tries to go back to his own book, "No problem".
Velma is still scowling at him, which Fred soon notices.
"What?", he asks her.
"Oh nothing", she plays off for a second before closing her book, "I just find it interesting that you apologized to the pretty girl", causing Daphne to preen, "and not to the girl whose science project you destroyed."
"I didn't apologize because it wasn't me fault", Fred says in denial.
"Yeah right, just like it's not your fault he falls to the floor every morning", Velma sarcastically agrees while nodding to Shaggy as he was nearby.
"It's not", Fred denies.
"Well, you don't exactly do anything to stop it, so...", Shaggy trails off at the end as he returns with a book.
"He's my friend. What am I supposed to do?", Fred rhetorically asks.
"Some friend", Daphne comments.
Fred pauses as he tries to find the words before saying, "He's not my friend-friend. We just play on the same team, that's all."
"Yeah, the Coolsville Neanderthals", Velma sarcastically jokes, causing Shaggy and Daphne to snicker.
"Okay, you know what? Forget all of you", Fred declares before going back to his book, "I was just trying to be nice", and the three went back to reading while Shaggy looked around, too nervous to open the book he got.
Fred looks to the book Daphne is reading as he got an idea, "Oh, and by the way, I already read that one", he smiles while nodding in good nature, "The old innkeeper did it", before falsely doing the look of surprise and shock as Daphne did the same.
"Oh, no, you didn't", Daphne angrily closes her book.
"I did", Fred says all innocently.
"Hey, I was going to read that one next", Velma complains as well.
"Sorry", Fred shrugs without a care
Outside Coolsville High
Scooby Doo was laying on the ground, tethered from his collar to the bike rack for the day.
He was giving a doggy whine as he has been there all day, without Shaggy or even food and water bowls. He sees clouds roll in with thunder rumbling and.
"Oh!", he screams and tries to run, only to be choked bomb as the tether tightened and he flies back.
He then panikally digs a hole into the ground and buries himself, with a flower humorously above him
Back in the Library
"Oh, you've completely ruined everything", Velma angrily grumbles at Fred.
But the conflict between them came to an end as the lights flickered.
"What's going on?", Shaggy asks. He knows the school actually has the best power line and a power generator as it is used for emergencies in town during a crisis.
Then, it gets inexplicably cold as the teens rub their arms to warm up, with Fred getting his blue with white lines jersey style jacket.
"oh, wow, brain freeze without the slushie", Shaggy comments from the cold as his breath was now visible, "Cool"
"Unusual climatic anomaly", Velm remarks, "There must be a logical explanation for this", she says as she looks around the library.
It was almost as though wind was blowing in the room as books on their table an the shelves around fly off. The teens duck and cover as to not be hit.
"Like, I heard of books flying off the shelves but this is ridiculous", Shaggy fearfully jokes before a book hits him in the head.
Nearby computer monitors explode with it frying and sparks flying before it all stops and goes quiet with the four teens left in darkness.
Only for a big book to drop on the table before them, causing them all to jump in fright as Shaggy and Daphne use Velma and Fred as shields, and the book being open.
"So much for a logical explanation", Daphne remarks, as the table shook and the pages turned in the book.
Then it began to smoke before a ghostly figure appears on the table, seemingly from the book.
It was a ghostly green colored withered man in rotten ratty clothes from over a century ago.
"Ragh!", the ghostly man roars at them.
Daphne and Velma scream as the four run away.
"Go, go!", Fred yells as he topples a book cart in their escape as the ghost cackles.
In the School Gymnasium
The marching band and cheerleaders were finishing up their routines, with the students attending the rally giving it a round of applause.
Soon appears Principal Deedle rushing on stage outta breath, "And now, it is my great pleasure to introduce those crazy cats of Eerie county: The Coolsville Cougars!", smiling as he points both arms to a door to his left where two cheerleaders held up a circle with tear-away paper with their schools logo and mascot on it.
The crowd cheered for the team, only for Shaggy to jump on through it instead, causing the applause to stop as they were confused.
"Uh... Go, Cougars", Shaggy awkwardly smiles and cheers before Velma rushes through the circle as well, followed by Daphne and Fred.
"Run! Everybody run!", Fred yells before the lights flicker in he gymnasium with an electrical crackle.
As the lights flicker and the people run around in a panic while all the staff trying to calm them down. The doors close by themselves, trapping everyone inside. Smoke then fills the air over the stage in a bright flash that drew everyone's attention and the goes appears in the air above it.
"Yehahahaha!", the ghost laughs with his arms out in a t-pose, "Students of Coolsville High, leave this place now, or pay for all eternity", Shaggy goes to leave but Daphne grabs hold of him as they look to the ghost, "Whoever chooses to remain here will be doomed. Hear me? Doomed!"
Immediately after, all rush out of the school, with the team mascot leading the charge
"Single file, please", Principal Deedle tries to keep them calm and organized, "Everyone- No! Fire drill procedures, please", as students push pass him to leave as he steps down to in front of the school as many students ran like their lives depended on it, "Everyone, just calm down. The late buses will be here soon and, uh", Grimes walks down the steps behind him, "well, I suppose we should consider canceling classes tomorrow".
"What? Cancel classes?", Grimes loudly objects, "With all due respect, sir, I strongly disagree."
"But I-" Deedle goes but Grimes continues.
"It's obvious what's going on around here", Grimes suggests, "Clearly, we've been made victims of some sort of prank".
"Why would ghosts pull a prank?", Deedle asks in confusion.
"There are no ghosts", Grimes denies, "This is all a hoax perpetrated by a group of students with an ax to grind".
Just then, the group of four teens known as Shaggy, Daphne, Velma, and Fred run out of the school and Grimes turns to them.
"Them", Grimes accuses.
"Huh?", they all let out.
"But we were in detention", Fred gives an excuse.
"Exactly. You were the only ones not at the pep rally, giving you opportunity on top of motive", Grimes deduces while the teens look on in horror at being blamed, "It gives me great pleasure to inform you that you no longer have detention", before the four could get too excited, Grimes continues, "Because no you're all suspended".
"Suspended?!", Velma yells out in horror like her life was in jeopardy, "But won't that go on our permanent records?"
"I'll make sure of it", Grimes threatens, before walking back into the school.
Principal Deedle looks like a deer in headlights to the students that were just wrongfully punished before following after Grimes, "Vice Principal Grimes, we really must discuss this".
"Suspended? What am I gonna tell my parents?", Daphne asks aloud.
"Hey, I'm gonna have to run away from home", Fred remarks about his own situation.
"Oh, no mother. I know you'll believe me when I tell you I did nothing wrong", Velma smiles before spacing out, "It was ghosts. Ghosts!".
Shaggy was in thought about the situation, "Like, maybe we don't have to tell our parents?", drawing the others' attention.
Velma then looked at him in realization, "All we have to do is find the real colporate".
Shaggy smiles, "And I know someone that can help us clear our names", gesturing to the bike rack that currently had a missing occupant, "Heh, heh. Uh, Scooby-Doo, where are you?", he calls out.
Scooby then pops out from the ground, "Right here".
The three looked at the dog in confusion for a moment, wondering how he could help.
Fred then goes, "Alright, first is to find whose ghost we're dealing with", they look to him, "I mean, it looked like an actual person, not some abstract concept, like Ghostface".
Velma raises a finger, "I can look up historical figures tied to the school".
"He looked super old", Shaggy remarks, "Like from when Coolsville was founded", unintentionally narrowing down the search.
Daphne nods in thought, feeling like she was just there right now.
"Let's meet up tomorrow at-", Velma goes before remembering, "Wait. Were can we meet? We're not allowed back at school".
"Well, we can't go to my house", Daphne denies, "The staff would just love to rat me out
"The staff?", Fred asks her as the other two also look at her weirdly.
Daphne goes wide eyed, "Oh, no, no, no. It- it's not a staff", she denies, "Uh, it's just two maids, a butler, a groundskeeper- Oh, and my dad's valet".
"No, not a staff", Fred sarcastically agrees.
Shaggy then raised his hand, "Uh, hey, you can all come over to my place. my parents both work and I got the whole basement to myself", the trio look to each other before nodding in agreement, "Yeah, wait till you see it. I mean I got a TV, game system with cd and dvd, and I even have my own bathroom if you have to go-".
"We all got it, Shaggy", Fred cuts him off, feeling that was dipping into TMI territory, "See you there", and they all begin to leave for their homes.
"See ya tomorrow", Velma bids farewell.
"Bye", Daphne waves.
Fred laughed silently.
Shaggy could only smile, feeling that he now has more friends.
"How bout that, Scoob?", he smiles down to his best friend, "We're having company".
"Oh boy", Scooby happily agrees
The Next Morning
"Feel better, honey", Mrs Roger says from upstairs, "there's some extra chicken soup in the fridge".
Shaggy was laying in bed with wearing a robe, with a thermometer in his mouth and a rubber hot water bag on his head, "Thanks, Ma. And don't worry about me *cough*', Shaggy fakes being sick, starting with some sneezing and coughing just last night.
"I'll be on my cell phone all day if you need me", she informs him before closing the door to the basement and leaving for the day.
Shaggy then ditches the sick gear and gets up from bed, revealing his outfit of a red t-shirt over a white long sleeve, blue jeans, and black air forces on his feet [12, "Come on Scoob. Let's get this place cleaned up".
"Yeah", Scooby agrees.
Shaggy opens a door and Scooby begins to doggy dig to rapidly kick all the clothes and clutter into the closet. Once everything was in the closet, Shaggy closes the door and seals it with a lock and a chair under the knob.
Just then, there's a knock at the door
"Huh?", Scooby utters in confusion.
"Huh, perfect timing", Shaggy smiles as he can see both Fred and Daphne through the glass of the door, he opens it and greets them, "Fred, Daphne".
Fred was wearing a white shirt with an orange collar, with a white jacket with blue collars and cuffs, blue jeans, and grey sneakers. [13]
Daphne wore a short-sleeve purple dress with mauve accents around the bottom hem and another line around the dress right above the hem, she wore pink and white converse shoes with light purple socks. She brought her purple headband and green short scarf back once more. [14]
"Hey, Shaggy", Fred says hello to Shaggy.
"Welcome to the party", Shaggy says, even though it wasn't really a party
"Party?", Daphne asks.
"Oh, yeah", Shaggy says as he closes the door behind them, "It's always a party here at Shagwell manner. Heh", he jokes "May I take your coats?".
"Um...", Daphne goes looking to Fred.
Shaggy looks to the duo and sees they have no coats, "Uh, I mean, please sit down", he directs them to his chair and couch, "Make yourselves at home".
"Sweet pad, Shag", Fred compliments him as he sits in the chair, while Daphne sits on the couch.
"Thank you", Shaggy responds with a smile.
He goes over to a corner where he had a mini fridge and grabs out a snack that he made for all of them and brings them to the duo, "Bon appetit"
"Thanks", Fred says as both he, Daphne, and Shaggy grab what looked like chocolate in the shape of chips, "Wow, these are really good".
"Yeah", Daphne agrees as she chews on it.
"What are they?", Fred asks.
"I don't really know what their called", Shaggy says, "But they're just wavy potato chips covered in chocolate".
"Hmm", Daphne nods as she eats another.
"Yum!", Scooby goes to eat one, only for Shaggy to play keep away.
"Oh, sorry Scoob", Shaggy says, "But dogs can't have chocolate, it's toxic for ya", causing the Great Dane to whine in disappointment, "Here have a PBBJ", Shaggy says as he pulls out his sandwich from the mini fridge.
"PBBJ?", Scooby asks.
"Peanut Butter and Blackberry Jam, on wheat bread", Shaggy informs as he sets the sandwich before Scooby.
Scooby sniffs the sandwich before grabbing it with his paws and then bites into the sandwich like a person, "Mmmm!", he then quickly scarfs down the rest.
"Like it buddy?", Shaggy asks him.
"Mmm-hmm, my favorite", Scooby claims, licking his lips with a smile.
"Really?", Shaggy smiles.
"Yeah, yeah", Scooby nods with his tongue out, "Any more?"
"Later Scoob, just waiting for Velma", Shaggy tells him, only for her to be knocking at the door. He goes and opens it, "Greetings".
Velma had on an orange hoodie, red shorts, white socks and red shoes [15]
"Hi", she waves as she enters the room, "I found out the name of the ghost", they all surround the coffee table before the seats while Scooby went to nob on the carpet in front of the stairs.
Velma places her laptop on the table as she explains, "You are not gonna believe this".
Shaggy gets in close as he sits on the couch with her and Daphne, almost going face to face to look at the laptop till she looked at him funny, "Oh, sorry", he apologized and sits back.
She pulls up a news article of two people from 1898, "Prudence Prufrock and Ezekiel Gallows, the founding faculty of Coolsville Academy", she points to the man, "Look familiar?"
The other three humans look at the man.
"That's the ghost!", Daphne states in realization.
"Yes", Velma confirms, "Our spooky specter is the Ghost of Ezekiel Gallows".
"Like, what's up with the time capsule?", Shaggy asks.
"A small container used to preserve historical artifacts in order to capture a certain time", Velma explains, "It was a bigger deal back then", she then scrolls the article, "According to this article, Gallows and Prufrock were all set to open the doors to their new school when tragedy struck, The Great Coolsville Flood".
"Coolsville Flood?", Shaggy asks, hearing about it for the first time.
"Right before the turn of the century, the Eerie Dam burst and all of Coolsville was washed away. A whole new town was built right on top of the old one", Velma informs them, "The flood destroyed the Coolsville Academy, and the two founding faculty were killed, along with many others", Shaggy and a risen Scooby gulp in fear, "Spooky, huh?", she looks to the information, "It says right here that like the rest of the town, the new school was built right over the ruins of the old school".
"This is great, Velma", Fred says as he stands, "That explains the ghost's motives, were one step closer to clearing our names".
"You know what we need to do?", Velma stands, "Go back to the scene of the crime".
"But how?", Daphne asks her, "We can't be seen back on school grounds"
Velma smiles, "Then we'll have to use the cover of night as our silent ally. Yes, it'll be just like one of our mystery books", the excitement getting to her as the others laugh in their own excitement, before catching a smell, "Is that blackberry?"
"Yeah!", Scooby cheers, "Seconds", as he went about trying to make a PBBJ himself.
Later That Night
The four teens and dog look over the hedge to the high school to make sure the coast was clear.
"Okay. Let's do this", Velma says to the others rushes out into the driving lot before the school, pointlessly serpentining to avoid detection, with the others just casually following behind her without a care since there was no security outside.
They easily enter in the surprisingly unlocked school and begin to quietly walk down the hall.
Fred turns to look at them all, "Okay gang, we can cover more ground if we split up and search for clues", with the group nodding in agreement, "Daphne, you come with me and-".
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, why do I have to go with you?", Daphne demands in suspicion.
"Yeah", Velma agrees, "who made you boss? Why can't we pick our own teams?".
"Well, I just thought-", Fred goes to explain.
"You just wanted to go with the hottie", Velma slyly accused.
"I did not!", Fred denies, "And just for the record, I don't even think she's that hot".
"Oh, really?", Daphne asks in doubt.
"Yeah? I think they're both hot", Shaggy says in confusion, causing the trio and Scooby to look at him, "What?", before shaking his head, "Um, like, can we just get to it? Seriously, the school's scary enough during the day".
"Fine. How about we just all go together?", Fred states.
"Fine", "Works for me", Velma and Daphne respectively agree before they began to walk down the hall again.
Shaggy sighs and looks to Scooby, "Touchy bunch, huh?"
"Uh-huh", Scooby agrees, shaking his head, "Sheesh"
The best friend dup soon follow, unaware of a shadow of the specter behind them.
The team of five walk base a trophy case in the main hall with two mannequins with old and new american football gear on either side of the case. Scooby eases around them as he thinks their scary with the all white black faces.
The five soon arrive at the Gymnasium, still in a disarray with chairs on the ground from the running, and police tape from the Coolsville PD investigating.
"Alright, guys. Our objective here is to gather forensic evidence", Velma states as they step onto the stage, with her pulling out a black light.
"And keep an eye out for that tooth I lost playing dodge ball", Shaggy jokes.
"Oh", Velma remembers, "Hope you don't mind, I took the liberty of borrowing this for our investigation", as she surveys the ground on the stage.
"Ha-ha! Look at that. Groovy and practical", Shaggy tells Scooby.
"Jinkies!", Velma exclaims, "Look at this", using the black light to show some residue on the stage.
"What is it?", Fred asks her.
"I'm not sure', Velma digs into her bag, "But this is directly ender where the Ghost of Ezekiel appeared and disappeared during the pep rally", she takes a slide and a scraper out and takes a sample of the residue.
"Do you always carry slides with you?", Fred asks, curious.
"What good is a microscope without slides?", she smiles as she pulls out a microscope from her bag.
"Right", Fred remarks, kind of freaked out, while Daphne and Shaggy just smiled in excitement while waiting.
Velma began to examine the slide as the other four watch over her, all were unaware of the ghost slowly approaching them from the steps.
"Alright, you see anything?", Shaggy asks in wonder and impatience.
"Shh!", Velma quiets him while looking through the microscope, using he blacklight as a light source for it.
"Shh", Daphne looks to Shaggy with a finger to her lips in a shushing manner.
Shaggy looks to Scooby like he was the one being a distraction, "Shh", he shushes the dog.
Scooby continues the bit and shushes in the next in line, "Shh", only to see the ghost they were investigating, causing him to do a double take, "Ghost! Ghost!", drawing the teenagers' attention.
"Boo", the Ghost of Ezekiel Gallows, waving hello with his fingers wiggling instead of his hand.
The five immediately run away, unintentionally splitting up into three groups. Fred, Velma and Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby.
First, the girls headed into the costume department of the drama theater. They raced among the clothes rack that were filed with costumes before the came across Ezekiel Gallows.
"Ah! The Ghost!", Daphne screams and instinctively kicks him, only for it to be hollow as it was a costume on a mannequin, "Costume?", she asks as her and Velma see multiple masks and clothes for the ghost.
Velma looks back to see a shadow come into the room, "Let's go", she pushes Daphne to leave.
They run all they way down the hall and bump into Fred.
"Oof!", "Ooh!", "Ow!", the three all yell as they fall.
Fred quickly gets up and helps up the girls, "You girls alright?".
"Yeah", Velma says as she wipes her self off, fixing her clothes
"Me too", Daphne says before realizing, "Wait, where's Shaggy and Scooby?"
"And where's the ghost?", Velma asks aloud.
With Our Favorite Duo
Shaggy and Scooby had ran all the way to the cafeteria.
"Follow me, Scoob", Shaggy says as they enter into the kitchen ,"I know the perfect place to hide", unaware that the ghost had followed them over the others.
They run along the stoves and boilers before coming across food that is being stewed for tomorrow and stopping.
"Like, time for a nutrition break, eh, Scoob?", Shaggy smiles at his dog.
"Yeah", Scooby agrees, only for The Ghost of Ezekiel Gallows to appear before them.
"First, a grammar lesson", Ezekiel's ghost began, "Never start a sentence with the word "like"", he admonishes Shaggy.
"Like, sorry", Shaggy apologizes in fear and they ran.
The duo end up before a walk-in freezer, "Let's go, Scoob!", as he opens the door.
"Okay", Scoby agrees and they both hide within it.
The ghost obviously sees them enter and looks the door from the outside, trapping the duo in the freezer.
"Hey, Scoob", Shaggy asks for his dog, "Where are we?"
"I don't know, Shaggy", Scooby replies in the dark of the freezer.
Shaggy finds a light string and pulls on it to illuminate the freezer, to see it was a freezer
"Oh, no", Shaggy moans, "How do you like that? Undone by the thing we love most", he tells Scooby as he rubs his arms to warm up
"Irony. Yuck!", Scooby comments in a displeased fashion.
With The Others
"Look, we're at the Library", Daphne says, pointing to the sign in the hall, "That's where the ghost first appeared".
"We should investigate this place as well", Velma suggests.
"Alright", Fred agrees and opens the doors, "Let's go".
The trio enter into the library and begin investigating.
"This is where we were when the ghost first appeared", Fred says as they approach the table they were serving the detention at.
Velma uses the black light and finds similar residue to what was found in the gym. Velma takes the sample.
Daphne was looking around the library till she found something suspicious, "Hey guys, there's a book missing from this three book volume set", bringing the box cover with with the two remaining books in it to the table they sat.
"'Vol.1 Ghostly Hauntings: A History'", Fred reads the cover of the blue one that he takes from the sleeve.
Daphne takes the next book and sees, "'Vol.2 Common Spells, Curses, and Hexes'".
Velma takes the first book from Fred, "Lots of these books list the whole series in the first page", she opens and reads, "'Vol.3 A Practical Guide to Raising the Dead... and How to Use Them For Your Own Evil Purposes'? That is not a good title for a book".
"Whoever has that must be beyond this", Fred comments.
Daphne lifts the empty casing, "But it's missing"
Velma flips the pages to the cover in the book she had, "Look who checked it out recently", taking the library card from the sleeve.
"'Vice Principal Grimes'?", Daphne reads the last name before looking up on the listing, "It also shows Red Herring and Principal Deede".
BANG!*
The trio look to the noise to see The Ghost of Ezekiel Gallows pass over the door, trying to get in.
"Go! Run!", Fred yells and the three run away from the library with the books in hand
The three of them run out the front of the school, just as it explodes and pillars of flame.
"Never come back. Ha-ha!", the ghost cackles as the teens run away.
The Next Morning
Fred is running across the street to run up behind Daphne and Velma.
Fred wore a white polo shirt, blue jeans, and white sneakers [16].
Daphne wore a mauve shirt under a purple jacket that had two-tone chevrons on her chest, top was a darker purple, bottom was a lighter purple, with a purple skirt and purple shoes. She'd forgone her favored purple headband [17].
Velma wore her orange t-shirt, red skirt, orange socks, and red shoes, with a red jacket added on [18].
"Hey! hey, wait up", Fred calls out, drawing the girls attention, "Anyone seen Shaggy and Scooby yet?"
"Did they get stuck in the school?", Daphne asks in worry, "I was going to call them, but I didn't know his surname for the phone dictionary online", she pauses, "Actually, I don't think I know his actual name either".
"Yeah, i don't either", Fred says, with Velma shaking her head NO to them as she didn't know either. "But", Fred goes, "I do know that his last name is Rogers. Mine's Jones, if you're wondering".
"Oh, mine's Blake", Daphne informs.
"Dinkley", Velma mentions.
"Well, Dinkley, anything from Shaggy and Scooby?", Fred asks again, focused on Velma, who doesn't know anything either.
In The School Kitchen
"S-S-Someone help!", Shaggy yells from the freezer as her bangs on the door.
"Help!", Scooby also yells as he also bangs on the door.
"Help us!", a person hears Shaggy say as they unlock the freezer door and opens it to reveal a frosty and pale Shaggy an Scooby, "Oh, we're saved", he chuckle as their teeth chatter from the cold, only to see Vice Principal Grimes, "Oh, we're doomed", he moans as Grimes gestures with a finger from them to come out of the freezer with a stern expression.
"Doomed?", Scooby asks.
Outside of the School
All the student were arriving to see police surround the school, with the front covered in police tape. The front of the building had a massive skull burnt onto it, with 'BEWARE' and 'STAY AWAY' burnt on either side of it. 'DOOM' was burnt on the 'Cool' part of 'Coolsville High' sign over the entrance way.
"Whoa, look at this place", Fred remarks at the state of the school as they arrive out front.
"Wow", Daphne breathes, "Extreme Makeover, ghost edition
"Looks like this paranrmal poltergeist isn't pussyfotting around", Velma says as she surveys the damage.
"What are we going to do?", Daphne asks aloud.
"Same thing they do in our mystery books", Fred says, turning to them, "We have to examine the clues"
"Way ahead of you Freddy", Velma says, "I analyzed that residue from the gym floor and the Library. And guess what it is", she informs as she brings out a small notebook, "Magnesium Chlorate. Can you believe it?", only for Fred to smile to cover the fact that he didn't.
Daphne on the other hand, "Of course. Magnesium Chlorate is a highly combustible substance that can be used to create an explosion identical to the ghost's smoke screen", she finishes with the others looking at her in amazement.
"How did you-?", Fred goes to ask.
"I can read upside down", she says, looking at Velma's notebook.
"That's great", Fred comments before looking back to the school, "But why would a ghost need a smoke screen?
"Because he's not a ghost at all", Daphne smiles before looking to Velma, "Remember last night, we thought we saw the ghost when we were split up, but it was just some costumes from the drama department for the historical play about Coolsville's founding."
"That would explain why we haven't been seeing go through walls like ghosts are supposed to", Velma remarks, "But how could a man in a costume fly?".
At that, the others were stumped.
"But maybe we have enough to clear our names", Fred says and rushes over for the entrance with the to girls.
"Principal Deedle, we have some information about the ghost", Fred says to the man.
"The Ghost? Heh. What more information do we need except that they want us to leave?", the man fearfully says, "I was just about to call the superintendent to insist on the immediate closure of-", only for Grimes to cut him off as he comes out holding onto blanket wrapped Shaggy and Scooby.
"Nonsense", Grimes gruffs.
"What?", Deedle says as he turns to look at them.
"I've got your ghosts right here", Grimes states, "I found these two in the freezer", shaking them by their collars while the other teens look on helpless, "Obviously, they'd been in there all night", Scooby gets out of his hold to shake off the frost from his fur, "Which would have given them ample time to do all this?", gesturing to the destruction.
"Like, what happened?", Shaggy looks confused at the state of the school, seeing all the glass on the ground, then looked up to the school to see the extent of the damage.
"Are you sure?", Deedle asks Grimes, in severe doubt Shaggy would do such a thing, "This seems like an awful lot of damage-"
"Principal Deedle", Grimes loudly cuts off, "I am more than familiar with the average troublemaker's capacity for damage. That is why you put me in charge of discipline, remember?".
"Now, Vice Principal Grimes, I really don't-", Deedle goes.
"I will handle it, Principal Deedle", Grimes loudly claims, and Deedle sighs in aggravation at him before leaving.
"Vice Principal Grimes, you have to believe me", Shaggy begs Grimes, "We didn't do any of this. It really was the ghost. He- He locked us in the freezer", Grimes looks at him with his arms crossed, not believing him, "Oh, and they ate all the ice cream too".
"Right. More ghost stories", Grimes remarks, unimpressed, before walking down the steps to the other three, "So do we have all of you to thank for this? Or did, uh, Ben and Jerry here act alone this time?"
Velma, Daphne, and Fred stutter to get anything out, before a saviour came.
"That's enough, Grimes", a police captain says as he walks up to them.
He was tall like Shaggy, but more broad and muscular. He his face was also similar to Shaggy's, but clean shaven and combed hair.
"Officer Rogers", "Dad", Grimes and Shaggy greet respectively.
"Now, what am I seeing here?", Officer Rogers asks.
"I was just about to expel your hooligan of a son", Grimes declares, scaring Shaggy.
"Really now? On what grounds", Officer Rogers asks with doubt.
Grimes gestures to the school, "He's responsible for these damages".
Officer Rogers glances at the school before saying, "Now, how could he have done this if he was locked in the freezer all night?".
At that Grimes pauses, "Excuse me?"
Officer Rogers looks to him, "Well, you said it yourself, he was locked in the freezer all night, that includes the time in which this took place", pointing to the burns on the school, "And the model of freezer at this school only is able to be locked from the outside, so how was he and Scooby locked in?"
Grimes looks to the trio, "Obviously his accomplices did it to give him an alibi".
"Oh?", Officer Rogers sounds, "And how do you know they were here last night?".
"Well, they're his friends", Grimes gruffs.
"Hmm, while I hate to say this, my son doesn't have friends", Officer Rogers states as his son looks down ashamed, "He didn't make his first friend till he met Scooby here last week", scratching the dog behind the ear, who let his tongue out as he stomped his leg in satisfaction.
Velma, Daphne, and Fred all felt kind of bad for Shaggy at being outed for not having friends till within the last week of his life before feeling bad about not befriending him sooner as they all lived in Coolsville together their whole lives.
"Meaning he couldn't have friends that would do that for him", Officer Rogers finishes, "So, while I'll accept him being suspended for being in school after hours, he won't be expelled", Grimes continues to listen, "Now, let us professionals investigate who did this, find them, and then they can receive punishment. Instead of acting on only circumstantial evidence", before entering the school, with Grimes quietly after following him.
The trio rush up to Shaggy.
"Hey man, you okay?", Fred asks with a hand to his shoulder.
"Yeah", Shaggy says.
"Why didn't you call for help?", Daphne asks him.
"Well, I didn't have any of your guys' numbers", Shaggy informs and they nod, "And I forgot my cell phone at home", causing all of them to shake their heads, Scooby included, "So, did you guys find anything while me and Scoob were freezing?"
Velma goes first, "Well, me and Daphne found play costumes that look remarkably like the ghost's own outfit"
"And in the Library, we found the book that
"So we have suspects?", Shaggy asks, "Vice Principal Grimes, Red Herring,... and Principal Deedle?"
Sometime Later, Rogers' House
They soon meet at Shaggy's house again in his room, with Shaggy showering and changing clothes.
His current outfit is a white and green short-sleeve shirt over an orange long-sleeve shirt, with cargo pants and black converse shoes. [19]
"Like, I don't see Deedle behind this", Shaggy says as he exits the bathroom, "I mean... the guy is too sweet for it".
"What about Red?", Fred asks, causing Daphne to look at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Really? You think Red Herring is smart enough to pull this off?", Daphne asks him, "I'm surprised he was even able to check out the book, let alone check out any book".
"So we should investigate Vice Principal Grimes first?", Velma asks them.
Shaggy looks to her, "Well, he does seem to hate us, like, a lot".
Fred nods, "Yeah... I don't think I seen him be kind to one student... even you, the smartest girl in the school", he says to Velma.
Daphne looks to her, "Can you find out where he lives?",
Velma is already typing on her laptop, "Already on it", she gets to the address and maps it, "Oh no", she looks to them, "He lives in the outskirts near Coolsville Mountain. It would takes us all night to ride our bikes up there".
"Can't we drive?", Daphne asks her.
"Well, yeah, but none of us have our licenses", Velma remarks, causing the other three teens to look at her with wide-eyes, "What?"
"Velma... we're older than you by a year or two", Fred tells her, "We have our licenses".
"Oh", Velma utters, a little embarrassed at missing such a detail.
"But none of us have a car", Daphne supplies, "I mean... we all take the same bus for a reason", to which Fred nods.
Shaggy on the other hand, "Like, Yeah... about that...", brining everyone's attention, even Scooby, "I have a ride".
"Really?", Dahne asks him, "I've never seen you drive anything".
"Yeah", Fred agrees, "I mean, you could have been using it to avoid Red's bullying".
"Gas prices", Shaggy says, causing Fred and Velma to nod while Daphne was confused, being a rich girl.
"Alright let's wait till night time before we head up their to investigate", Fred suggests.
"But what should we do till then?", Velma asks.
"I don't know", Shaggy shrugs, "Just hang out".
Dahne ended up trying to teach Velma beauty techniques while Fred and Shaggy sat on the couch with Scooby laying on the ground, napping.
Fred looks to Shaggy, "So, uh... the Bears really slaughtered those Dolphins last night", trying to strike up a conversation about a football game.
Shaggy looks to him with a horrified, "What? That's terrible! Who in their right mind would bring bears to the beach?!".
"No not real...", Fred goes, "You don't watch a lot of sports, do you Shag?"
"Oh, well sure I do", Shaggy smiles, "I'm a big fan of the MLE".
Fred nods before confusingly asking, "Wait what?"
"The MLE, Major League Eating", Shaggy tells him, "You know, like that japanese guy that ate 58 hotdogs in under three minutes. It's thrilling".
Fred nods with a smile, "Sounds pretty cool actually", as his man brain takes over.
Shaggy looks surprised, "Oh, hey, if you want, I can take you to the next match", which Fred nods to, "Here's a tip though, if you want to sit in the front, bring a poncho".
"Alright, I'm there", Fred smiles.
After the next several hours of hanging out with each other in the room, watching old Goosebumps episodes for the last few, which Shaggy and Scooby surprisingly didn't freak out during.
Night had come, the parents were asleep, and the gang headed for the garage of the Rogers' Residence.
"So which ones the ride?", Fred asks looking to the two vehicles one would expect of a two parents and two children household.
"That one", Shaggy says with a smile pointing to the van that was old school in every way, "Groovy, right?"
It was a 1969 Chevy G10 van in a soft blue color. It had a green design painted on the bottom half of the van with two orange flowers on each side of the van. It had green hubcaps with a big orange flower on each tire. In front of the van was a green casing holding the spare tire, the casing also had on an orange flower.
"Yeah", Scooby agrees.
The other teens look to the van with hesitation.
Shaggy opens the side doors outwards to show the inside. It had orange shag carpet to match the flowers, the two front seats were mostly blue with green accents to match the van, same with the three person side seat in the back opposite of the side doors. The engine was the dash thing in between the two front seats. Green and blue panels covered the inside walls. There was a medium sized box with a small generator and electric kitchen gear in it for Shaggy to cook.
"It belonged in the family since Great-Grandpa Rogers", Shaggy explains with a smile, "He passed it on to Grandpa who passed it on to Dad who passed it on to me. We kept the pain job and took care of it throughout the years".
Velma checks it over, "It's a mystery this machine still runs", she remarks at the old van, "If it still runs?", she asks Shaggy.
"It can", Shaggy looks offended, "We kept it in good condition and always replace the part when needed."
"Then do your thing Shag", Fred says as he gets in shotgun.
"Oh, right", Shaggy says as he heads for the driver's seat.
Scooby and the girls get into the back, with the girls sitting in the seat on the side and Scooby sitting on the carpet behind the engine.
"Alright", Shaggy mutters as he turns the key, to which the engine starts with no problems, "Like, anyone got any gas money?", he asks the others as he slowly pulls out of the garage and then the driveway.
It wasn't long before they were driving down the backroads to Grimes' house. Scooby finds the snacks Shaggy backed for everyone and ate it all.
"Scoob! Those were supposed to be for all night", Shaggy tells him.
"Oh", Scooby looks downcast, disappointed with himself, "Sorry Shaggy".
The girls in the back were quiet before Daphne notices Velma staring at her.
"What?", she asks the bespectacled girl.
"Nothing", Velma denies, "It's just that since we started this investigation, so many of my theories have been disproved."
"What are you talking about?", Daphne asks in confusion, "You were right about the chemical..."
"No, not about any of that", Velma waves off, "About... you", taking Daphne aback, "You're just not the person at all I thought you were".
"What did you think I was?", Dahne asks her.
"Bubble head, snob, spoiled princess, with daddy complex", Velma bluntly answers, causing Fred to laugh as he and Shaggy were over hearing them.
Dahne looks offended but Velma continues, "But you're not. I was totally indisputably wrong".
Daphne smiles, "Thanks... I think".
"Oh, what about an eccentric rich girl?", Shaggy asks.
"Oh yeah", "Definitely", Fred and Velma agreed, causing Daphne to pout.
She then looks to Velma, "Well, you're not what I expected either".
"Oh", Velma utters , "What did you expect?"
"I don't know", Daphne face scrunches in thought, "Egghead, know-it-all, alpha nerd that who enjoys throwing off the curve and making everyone else feel dumb", causing Fred to laugh again.
"Jinkies", Velma utters in sadness, before smiling, "Well, I have to admit, there is something inside me that does enjoy throwing off the curve", causing everyone to laugh, even Scooby.
"Well, what about me?", Fred looks back to ask them.
The girls look to each other with a smile before Daphne asks him, "You?"
"Yeah", Fred confirms
"Fred, you are... exactly what we thought you'd be", she looks to Velma, "Right Velma?"
"To a 'T'", Velma agrees.
Fred just laughs it off.
"You're nicer than I thought you were", Shaggy adds in, "I thought you were a bully like Red since I always saw you two together".
Fred nods in gratitude, "Thanks Shag, that means a lot coming from you".
Shaggy looks to the girls through the rearview mirror, "What about me?"
The other teens looked like they can't answer that for sure before Fred says, "Honestly, I don't think any of us have figured you out yet, Shaggy".
Shaggy laughs, "Yeah, me neither. I guess Scoob and I are in a class all our own".
"Yeah", Scooby pants in agreement.
"Definitely two of a kind", Daphne remarks as she scratches Scooby's ear, cusing a hind leg to shake in satisfaction.
Sometime later, they arrive outside the home of Vice-Principal Grimes.
They exit the van, each with a flashlight Shaggy had in it, and look to the house while Scooby was sniffing around.
"No lights on"m Fred notes, "Grimes must be asleep"
"Or he's out planning one of his late night creep-fests", Velma snarks.
"Only one way to find out", Daphne remarks before stepping to the house with Fred and Velma in tow.
"Oh wait", Shaggy stops them, "So, like, what's the plan?" he asks them, "We can't just go breaking into Vice Principal Grimes house, then he really could have us arrested."
"It's not breaking in if the front door's wide open", Fred smiles as he nods to said door and he and the girls rush over.
"Huh, guys, I think we should reconsider this", Shaggy nervously calls out to before following them in.
"Hey, wait for me", Scooby calls out and races inside with them.
The five investigators wonder the house with their lights on, seeing tons of memorabilia around the house.
A light passes over a figure, causing them to jump back in fright, and Scooby in the arms of Shaggy.
"Guys, it's just a dummy", Fred tells them as they cower.
"Oh", they say and Shaggy sets Scooby down.
Velma looks around the room, "Looks like VP Grimes is quite the World War 2 buff", with all the army dressed dummies, the models and maps.
"Seriously, how can he afford all this?", Shaggy asks.
Fred turns to the others, "Alright, gang", gaining their attention, "I'm just throwing this out there, not trying to boss anyone around or anything, but do you think it might be a good idea to split up and search for clues?", the girls looks to each other, "I'm just saying".
Velma sighs, "Well, mathematically, the odds of finding anything would increase if we were divided".
"Exactly", Fred says.
"Works for me", Daphne agrees.
"Alright", Fred smiles, "Velma, Daphne, we'll look upstairs. Shaggy, Scooby, you'll stay down here. Our goal is to find that book and anything else that looks suspicious.
Shaggy joking salutes him, which Fred returns, and they split up.
Shaggy looks around the room till he sees something on a desk.
"Like, look at this", Shaggy calls out to Scooby.
Scooby looks over and sees Shaggy put on an old gas mask.
He looks to the great dane, "Want to see if it works, Scoob?"
"Aye aye captain", Scooby salutes, before then releasing a fart, "Ree hee hee"
Shaggy takes some deep breathes through the mask, "Fresh as a daisy", he then takes off the mask and puts it back in the exact place he found it, but then catches whiff of Scooby's gas, "Oh, Scoob", whaffing the air in distress, "Oh, common. Let's get to work
Upstairs
"'Discipline 101'", Daphne reads the side of a book on a shelf her flashlight was on, "'Getting In Touch With Your Inner Disciplinarian', 'The Complete Disciplinarian Guide To Discipline'", Fred opens up a globe to a secret scotch and glasses case, "'Tuesdays With Morrie'?", causing Fred to snort in laughter.
Back downstairs, Shaggy and Scooby were looking around at the memorabilia before finding a shelf with books.
"Oh, books", Shaggy says before looking around for the book Velma mentioned, "Brrr", Shaggy mutters as he rubs the back of his neck, "Like, Scoob, quit crowding me, you're breathing down my neck.
"I am?", Scooby asks as he finishes scratching his neck like dogs do from the other side of the room, "Hmmm?", Scooby lets out as looks to Shaggy, "Er, Shaggy?", the dog fearfully calls out to him.
Shaggy looks to see scooby pointing behind him, Shaggy turns to see the ghost of Ezekiel Gallows that was right behind him.
"Ragh!", the ghostly ghoul roars.
"Zoinks!", Shaggy yells in fear of the ghost before him.
the ghost takes a swipe at Shaggy but he ducks under it and the ghost's hand smashes the pictures on the shelf.
"Ruh!", Scooby yells out and hides under a bear skin rug.
Shaggy runs across the room and trips over said rug an lands on the floor. Ezekiel goes to stomp on him but Shaggy rolls under the nearby table. The ghost goes to smash it down, causing Shaggy to get to his feet and run for the stairs up to the others.
Upstairs, Again
Velma was looking around on a long shelf before turning to the desk in the same room as Daphne and Fred before seeing something among the papers.
"Jinkies!", she exclaims, "Look!", she calls out to the others as she picks up the 3rd Volume.
"Ah! Looks like we were right about Grimes!", Daphne says with a smile as they find the book, "Now we finally have the evidence we need to clear our names".
"Right", Velma agrees.
Fred cuts in here, "But we still don't know why Grimes is doing any of this".
Velma flips through the book in curiosity before running into a paper clippings and print-outs that don't belong to the book, "Wait a sec", she looks to Fred, "Maybe we do, Freddy".
"What's that?", he asks.
"Looks like some of Grimes' research", Velma says as she looks throw papers before reaching a print-out of the same newspaper article she found with with a red marker circle around the time capsule, "Look", she shows the other two.
"The Time Capsule?", Fred asks.
"It's got to be what he's after. It's said to be filled with valuables", Velma claims, "Remember, they were going to bury it on the school's opening day, but they never did".
"Right", Fred says in realization, "Because of the Coolsville flood".
"Exactly", Velma confirms.
"So that means... that the time capsule is till within the old school", Daphne continues the thought process.
"Which is buried 200 feet under the new school", Velma finishes.
"We did it!", Fred cheers, "We solved he mystery!"
They all laugh i excitement before Shaggy bursts into the room
"Guys, we got to get outta here!", he yells out.
"Shaggy, what's wrong?", Fred asks him, only for the windows to shatter.
"Jeepers!", Daphne yells out as they all duck and cover from the glass, with Velma grabbing the book and evidence.
The four teens soon rush out the door of the room and down the steps with The Ghost of Ezekiel Gallows soon appearing behind them.
He then begins tossing the model planes at the teens, with them crashing into the glass and the floor around them.
Shaggy notices one member of the gang missing, "Scooby-Doo! Where are you!", he cries out for him as they run for the front door.
"Here!", he says as he looks out from under the rug before running after them, "I'm coming!".
They get out the front door only for a flash of light to blind them and smoke to cover the area.
"Foolish children!", The ghost bellows, "You've fallen right into my trap!", and the smoke proceeds to knock them out, "Sweet dreams, kiddies!".
Within Coolsville High Gymnasium
A massive BOOM! goes off and the four teens begin to awaken from their unconscious state.
"Guys! Are you okay!", Fred asks as he gets to his feet.
"Yeah", Shaggy says as he too gets up.
"Where are we?", Daphne asks in confusion as the smoke cloud had yet to settle.
Velma was also getting up to her feet as well.
Fred looks around the area, "It looks like the gym", before they all see the massive hole made in the floor, along with the long rope from the ceiling.
"How did we get here?", Velma asks as they head for the hole.
"I don't know. Can't remember after the smoke", Fred says as they then all gaze down the hole.
"Bet you this is the work of that specter", Velma remarks at the hole before they hear a clapping and look behind them to see the Ghost of Ezekiel Gallows.
"Bravo! Bravo little puzzle masters!", he claps from the upper seats in the gym, "You put all the pieces together! The time capsule, it's all about the time capsule! But thinks to you, I can retrieve it without getting my hands dirty! Ironic isn't it! All you were trying to do is clear your names, but all you did was get yourselves in deeper! Yehahahaha!", Ezekiel's ghost points to them, "Now! Get down there and find me that time capsule!"
"Like we'd ever help you!", Fred steps forward, with the others agreeing.
"Fine", the ghost says in dramatic fashion, "But if you don't, you'll never see your precious puppy dog again", pulling a cloth off a kennel, showing a tied up Scooby-Doo, paws and all.
"S-Scooby", Shaggy utters in horror at the sight of his dog in peril before getting angry, "You'l never get away with this, Vice Principal Grimes!"
"Grimes?! Ha", Ezekiel's Ghost laughs, "That was one piece of the puzzle you never managed to put into place", before pulling another cloth away to show Grimes unconscious and tied up in another kennel, confusing the teens, "Just remember, dogs don't have nine lives".
Fred rushes over to the nearby doors to get through and up to the ghost but the doors were chained shut, he looks around to see all of them were. He heads back to the gang.
"What do we do?", Daphne asks them.
"I don't know", Velma says, unaware as Shaggy heads for the rope, "If we actually do what he wants, being expelled would be the least of our worries", Shaggy pushes the end of the long-ass rope into hole, drawing the gangs' attention.
"Shaggy, what are you doing?", Fred asks him.
Shaggy looks to him as he grabs hold of the rope, "Scooby's my dog and I'd do anything to save him"
Fred sighs in agreement, "He's right", looking to the girls, "And Scooby's not just his dog, I feel like he's my dog too", and goes to join Shaggy, patting him on the back as a cloud of dust comes off it.
Daphne looks to Velma before shrugging, "He's grown on me too", and joins the guys.
Velma sighs before walking over to them, "He's slobbers, he smells, I'm really more of a cat person, but... he's still the cutest dog I've ever seen", she smiles to them.
"For Scooby-Doo?", Shaggy puts a hand in.
The others put their hands on his, "For Scooby!", raising their hand in a cheer.
Then, one by one, the four teens climb down the rope into the desolate school below.
"Kind of musty down here", Shaggy says as he climbs down when dust crosses his nose, "A-a-ACHOO!", he sneezes, the shaking of it causing him to fall.
He slides down the rope and lands on the ground, "Augh!", he groans in pain, before looking around and seeing a snake on the ground, "AWW!", quickly getting to his feet in a panic and pulling on the rope.
All the previous shaking of the rope caused the other teens to lose their grip and fall off as well, sliding down to the ground as well. The girls land together in Shaggy's arms like two princesses while Fred fell to the decayed floor.
"Oh, Shaggy", Fred groans in pain before he two sees the snakes, "Whoa! Whoa!", and quickly gets to his feet.
"Jeepers!", "Jinkies!", the girls cry out as they hug onto Shaggy's head and push their bodies up to his shoulders to get away fro the snakes. Shaggy grabs hold of the rope to keep himself from falling.
"Uh, girls", Shaggy groans out as his head is being crushed.
Velma and Daphne look to him and what they were doing before climbing down to the ground.
"Sorry Shaggy", "My apologies, Shaggy", Daphne and Velma say, embarrassed.
They all then take out their flashlights they still had on them and look around.
"Oh, wow. So long Coolsville, welcome to Creepsville", Shaggy remarks at the destroyed school, "Like, I guess this is what they call a fixer-upper"
"No ones fixed this up since a turn of the century", Velma responds.
Daphne throws her hand up in aggravation before saying, "Guess we better start looking for that time capsule".
"Come on, this way", Fred says as he sees a clear path in the debri and they all head through it.
As they walk the halls of the long abandoned school under their school, Daphne can't help but to be disgusted.
"Oh yuck", she wrinkles her nose, "Now I know why he wanted us to come down here".
Shaggy stops them for a moment, "Like, So, if the time capsule was never buried, then where would it be?"
They all look to each other before Velma says, "I don't know", with a shrug, "We just have to search till we find it", she looks to a door, "What's this?", and she tries to open it to no avail, "Come on", she tries to pull harder with her foot on the door.
"Let me try", he tells her, gently pushing her away, "I'm good with these kind of things", and tries opening the door as Fred and the girls roll their eyes.
Only for Shaggy to pull so hard he tore off the doorknob, "Uh, see", he awkwardly smiles ashe holds up the knob, causing Daphne to stifle a laugh.
Velma finds an old directory on the wall beside the door and looks at it, unaware of the creaking wall till it began to tip towards her.
"Jinkies!", she cries in distress.
Shaggy rushes forward and tackles her to the ground, rolling them over till they were in an empty doorway of the wall.
Shaggy looks to Velma from atop her, "You okay?", he asks.
"Never better", Velma laughs off, her glasses a little crooked.
Shaggy fixes their position before standing up, helping her up next.
Fred looks to them, "I don't know about you guys, but I don't know how many doors I want to open down here".
"Yeah", Velma agrees, "And you know what? Even if we do manage to find the time capsule, he still could pin the whole thing on us.
"Maybe not", Fred says as he gets an idea, "I have a plan".
Sometime Later
The Ghost of Ezekiel Gallows paces back and forth with the kennels holding his captives before he hears a voice from the hole.
"Um, excuse me mister creepy dude, sir, may we have a word with you?", Shaggy calls up through the hole to the ghost with Fred by his side, "Just a quick... yeah, hello? Hello?!".
"What?! What is it?!", the ghost calls down, as he had rushed over.
"Um, I think we found it", Shaggy calls up to him, "T-The problem is..."
"..It's really heavy", Fred continues.
"Yeah!", Shaggy agrees, "And, uh, we're gonna...".
"Need some help", Fred continues.
"Yeah", Shaggy agrees.
"Errr", the ghost groans in annoyance, "It's just like they say, 'Never work with children or animals'", and he repels down the rope, not noticing Scooby chewing on his ropes.
Shaggy and Fred made a dash away, out of his sight before he could reach the floor.
The Ghost of Ezekiel Gallows makes it to the floor of the old school.
He looks around for the teens and the time capsule, "Well? Alright, where is it?!", he sees them nowhere in sight, "Hey, where are you kids?!", not noticing Fred coming from behind with ancient library book cart.
"All aboard!", Fred calls out as he hits the back of the ghost and he falls into the cart. He continues forward till he hits a shelf, where Daphne smashes an hold painting over him, traping his upper torso in the painting. Fred then turns the cart to Shaggy by a door.
"Now you just wait in here till the authorities arrive", Shaggy says as he opens the door while Fred pushes the cart to the door, only for them to be greeted by a torrent of water, "Zoinks!"
The ghost and all the teens were knocked back by the water and end up on the floor. The ghost notices something by his feet.
"Ah ha!", the ghost exclaims as he forces the painting off, "The time capsule!", grabbing hold of the lava-lamp size capsule, "It's mine at last!", and he gets to his feet.
The gang get to their feet as the ghost approaches them with the cpasule.
"Thanks kids, I really appreciate your help", he taunts them, "I could I ever thank you? Oh, i know. How about burying you alive?!"
"Run!", Fred yells.
"Head for the rope!", Velma calls out, only to trip, "Oh, my glasses!", and she began searching for them.
Shaggy quickly grabs them and gives them back to her, "Like, here!", and drags her alongside him with Fred helping as well. they got turned around from the water however and ended up going through a bunch of spider webs.
"Ew", Daphne cries out as the run through them.
They soons see the rope.
"Look guys! We did it!", Daphne exclaims, ready to escape.
"You think that matters?", the ghost asks them as he then appears by the rope. Fred goes to throw his flashlight at him, only for the ghost to pull out a lit bundle of dynamite, "I'm still the only one getting out of here! Muahahaha!", only to hear a growl from above him, "Huh?", he looks up to see Scooby sliding down the rope before jumping down straight at him, "Ahhh!", and Scooby lands on him, knocking the capsule and the dynamite out of his hands and into Fred's and Shaggy's respectively.
"Ahh!", Shaggy shrieks before trying to blow the fuse out, ony for Daphne to just pluck it from the stem, "Heh", he laughs before chucking the dynamite away.
Scooby grabs the end of the long ass rope and begins to run around at great speed the ghost that was now sitting up, tying up said ghost.
"Good job Scooby!", Daphne cheers.
"Like, that's my boy", Shaggy says as they approach the tied up ghost.
"Now let's see who this ghost really is", Fred declares and grabs the face of the ghost.
"No! No...!", the ghost cries only for the face to tear off to reveal their real face...
"Principal Deedle?!", the gang all exclaim.
"You ruined everything", Deedle says, breathing heavily, "And I was so close... the time capsule was in my hands."
"But how?", Daphne asks, "You were standing next to us when the ghost appeared in the gym"
Shaggy remembers something, "Like, the projector", drawing their attention, "The projector for showings during events, it was aimed directly above the stage where the ghost would be. The smoke acted like a surface for it to be on, so it looked like it was floating in the air", he looks to Deedle, "And Deedle could make himself a part of the crowd, giving himself an alibi".
"This doesn't make any sense", Velma says, "What could be in the time capsule that's so valuable a principal would want to close his own school?"
"Only one way to find out", Fred says before handing her the mask. He then proceeds to open the capsule, revealing letters, "It's just a bunch of old letters and papers and stuff!"
"Not just letters", Shaggy says as he takes them and looks to their corners, "Letters with stamps! Principal Deedle is an avid collector", he points to a postcard, "And look at this one... It's a misprint. Worth a fortune".
"Yes, the Eerie Stamp", Deedle agreed with tears welling in his eyes, "The most valuable misprint in the entire world... and it would have been all mine...", his gaze turns cold, "If it weren't for your meddling kids and your dog.
"That's me!", Scooby cheers.
"Scooby-Doo!", Shaggy
Much Later, In Front of Coolsville High
"And that is why all of Coolsville owes these student a debt of gratitude", the now Principal Grimes finishes his speech as everyone cheers for the Shaggy and friends on stage.
All four were dressed up for the occasion.
Daphne wore a green cotton shirt under a purple blazer and matching purple skirt with purple shoes. [20]
Fred wore a blue on blue suit, blue everything, even the leather shoes. [21]
Velma wore a orange dress from her mother with orange frills and was long and flowing below the waist. [22]
Shaggy wore a black blazer with green accents over his classic green shirt and brown pants. [23]
Grimes leans over to them, "And I want to officially apologise for wrongly accusing you. I just...", tears threaten to fall, "I just... love this school so much", to which Daphne smiles and pats his shoulder in comfort.
"So tell us kids", one news reporter says to the, "how did you solve the mystery?".
The five look to each other before Daphne speaks.
"Well, it was a combination of Fred's leadership", she says
"And Velma's brains", Fred continues down the line.
"Daphne's resourcefulness", Velma smiles.
"And the most important ingredient... our friendship", Shaggy smiles as well as the crowd cheers.
"Aw. That was beautiful Shaggy", Scooby says, wearing a blue bow tie [24] before wiping a tear with his tail
"And now, to mark the occasion, we are going to officially bury the Coolsville Academy time capsule", Grimes announces as he holds up the now cleaned time capsule to the crowds cheers.
The five were soon standing in a pose for the cameras with shovels before then beginning to dog. Shaggy brings his shovel up too hard and it is sent flying into the air.
"Zoinks!", Shaggy cries out as it sails through the sky and lands just before Grimes repaired car, causing both Shaggy and Grimes to sigh in relief, "Like, sorry, Principal Grimes".
"Accidents happen" Grimes says as he takes deep breathes.
After The Ceremony
The five mystery solvers are walking down the sidewalk from the school.
"I can't believe it. We solved an actual mystery", Fred says in extreme joy.
Velma shakes her head with a smile, "I have to admit, it's much more satisfying solving than just reading about them".
"Yeah", Daphne agres, "nd this way no one can ruin the ending for you".
"Hehe Sorry", Fred apologizes
They stop as they laugh before Shaggy asks, "So... what do we do now?", quietening them.
"I don't know", Fred finally says, "I guess we'll see each other on the bus, huh?", trying to smile but failing.
"Yeah", Velma tries to agree, "The bus"
"Yeah", Daphne adds in.
Shaggy is left saddened by the statements.
"Hey, I'll see you around", Daphne tells them.
"See ya around", Velma waves.
"Okay", Fred agrees.
Scooby begins to whine at the thought of them leaving.
The three teens then began to walk away from Shaggy and Scooby in opposite directions.
"Come on, Scoob", Shaggy sadly says as he slowly begins to walk away.
"Actually, wait, hold on!", Velma yells out and rushes back to the sidewalk intersection, with the others rushing back as well
"I hear there's been some strange goings on all over", Velma says with a smile, "Anyone feel like checking them out?"
"Sounds like more mysteries to be had", Fred shares the smile, "I'm in!"
"Count me in too!", Daphne cheers.
They look to Shaggy and Scooby.
"What do you say guys?", Velma asks them.
"I'd go anywhere with you all", Shaggy tells them, before then looking to his dog, "How about, Scoob?"
Scooby whines at the thought of going to more scary places before nodding his head, "Okay"
"Glad you're on board, Scoob", Daphne pets his head, "It wouldn't be the same without you".
Shaggy looks to them, "I'm glad you guys want to continue hanging out", he smiles to them, "Otherwise, what was the point in doing that?", he points to his van down the street.
The three teens look over to the van that now had a green background painted on the side in the style of the waves on the bottom half. Orange words in a groovy font were painted on the side.
"The Mystery Machine?", Fred asks, a confused smile on his face.
"Oh!", Velma calls out, "Like what I said in the garage!"
"Yeah", Shaggy says with a nod, "I figured if we're all mystery solvers, we need a Mystery Machine to get us to the mysteries to solve".
"It looks awesome, Shaggy", Daphne compliments.
"Scooby-Dooby-Doo!", Scooby cheers.
Chapter End
AN: I've been working on this for awhile, finished it in time for the Halloween season. I hope to do more going forward
I based this on the Mystery Begins but without the real ghosts and the supernatural. That kind of stuff won't appear for a while during what I call the Scooby Gang era.
I also made the Mystery Machine belong to Shaggy to explain the design of it better, also to explain why he drives it when Fred isn't there during the Scrappy years. This is also going to be a Shaggy-centric fanfic, so might as well give him this as well.
Many outfits for the gang appear in this, most from their history. The bold words are what I'll call them to avoid constantly describing them when they return.
[1] - Classic Green: Shaggy's classic outfit in most media, slightly modernized
[2] - Blue Stripe: based on Freddy's outfit from What's New Scooby-Doo.
[3] - Classic Orange: based on Velma's classic outfit, slightly updated shoes.
[4] - Classic Purple: based on Daphne's classic outfit, taken from the disguise in SD: Curse of the Lake Monster.
[5] & [5.5] - Skills Shaggy has, mentioned in the very first episode.
[6] - Blue Collar: Scooby's look from the movies, the puppy face thing was to excuse his difference from actual Great Danes.
[7] - Green over White: based on Shaggy's outfit in SD2 Monsters Unleashed.
[8] - Orange Sweater Vest: based on what Velma wore in Mystery Begins when the ghost first appeared.
[9] - Coolsville High Polo: based on the school spirit shirt Freddy wore during the same scene
[10] - Purple Sweater Dress: based on what Daphne wore in the SCOOB! movie.
[11] - Red Herring is the bully from A Pup Named Scooby-Doo that Freddy frequently accuses.
[12] - Red over White: another outfit for Shaggy based on the Monsters Unleashed appearance combined with the classic movies.
[13] - White on White with Blue and Orange Collars: the outfit Freddy wore for the majority of SCOOB!
[14] - Short-Sleeve Purple Dress: Daphne's main outfit for Be Cool.
[15] - Orange Hoodie - an outfit Velma wore at the beginning of the SCOOB! opening, aged up.
[16] - White Polo: he wore this in both 2002 movie during the daemon attack and during the morning after the fire in Mystery Begins
[17] - Purple Jersey: based on the outfit from the Monsters Unleashed scene when she tells Scooby the the boots don't go with the sweater.
[18] - Red Jacket: as far as I know, this is original. If you find her in a matching outfit in media, let me know.
[19] - White and Green over Orange: based on Shaggy's default outfit in S Get A Clue!
[20] - Purple Business Suit: Daphne's outfit from Zombie Island and the like.
[21] - Blue Suit: Fred's outfit from the beginning of Monsters Unleashed, sans the scarf.
[22] - Orange Dress: the orange dress Velma wears at the beginning of Monsters Unleashed.
[23] - Black/Green Blazer: literally from the end of Mystery Begins
[24] - Blue Bow-Tie: a dress tie for Scooby to where to special events, from the opening of SD Monster Unleashed.
I know Scooby Snacks didn't make an appearance yet. They'll appear starting next chapter.
