CHAPTER FOUR
Galinda walked into hers and Fiyero's new unit, looking around in wonder. It was definitely more lavish than the dorms - which was saying something since hers and Elphaba's suite was already the best of the best.
The unit was like a little apartment. The living room and kitchen were an open floor plan and about the size of her old suite, so it was a decent size. It was completely furnished with the basic necessities and they could always add to it.
Their bedroom was nice and spacious. There was even a walk-in closet and an en suite bathroom in addition to the bathroom on the other side of the unit for guests. Just next door to their room was the nursery.
Galinda's mouth was slightly agape when she walked in. There was already a crib, changing table, and dresser set up. There was a small bookshelf and baby and toddler friendly toys neatly arranged.
"Oh my Ozma," she said quietly. "They really thought of everything."
"They know what we needed," Fiyero said. "They're making sure we have what we need. They're on our side."
"This is... amazing," she said, her hand resting on her belly. "This is your room, witchling. You're gonna love it."
"Do you love it?"
"I do. This is over generous. This is more than I could ever expect or ask for."
"It's all ours," Fiyero said, wrapping his arms around her from behind and resting his hands on her small bump. "You deserve the very best."
"Did you have anything to do with this?"
"Just the color. I didn't want to pick something too girlish or boyish, so I told them to use neutral colors since we don't know what the baby is yet. They did a good job."
"Thank you... how can I ever repay you?"
"You can't. This is for all of us. We're in this together. I'd do anything for you, Galinda."
"I love you," she said, turning around and kissing his lips.
"I love you too. What do you say we break in that bed of ours? No restrictions."
"More importantly, no interruptions from oversized munchkins."
"Ugh! It's beautiful, Elphie," Galinda said as she plopped down on her former bed. "I can't wait for you to see it."
"Is it everything you've ever dreamed of?" Elphaba asked.
"And more. They even furnished the nursery. It's my favorite room. The kitchen is smaller than I'm used to at home, but it's only the two of us. We don't need much space."
"Don't burn it down when you try to cook."
"Excuse me, I'll have you know that I am an excellenticating cook, thank you very much."
"You burned toast last week."
"Because I've never used that kind of toaster before. Trial and error."
"Seemed more like operator error."
"Only once. You learn from your mistakes. If you don't then you're just stupid."
"We know many of those people."
"Too many. So, who's your new roommate?"
"Her name is Posey."
"Ew. The name has to go. Is she interesting?"
"Not nearly as interesting as Galinda Upland."
"Soon to be Tigelaar."
"Boq's been complaining about his new roommate. Apparently he's a slob. Name's Chuffrey."
"Gross. That's a tragic name."
"How are you enjoying your new roommate? I hear he's a pretty stand-up guy."
"It's been amazing. All the snuggles I want, all the kisses I want, all the lounging around I want."
"All the sex you want."
"That's been especially enjoyable. No roommates to walk in on us. No need to be quiet and sneak around."
"Thank Oz."
"It's nice to not be caught in compromisifying positions."
"It'll change when that baby is born. You won't even have time for sleep, let alone sex."
"There's always time for sex."
"Miss Upland, welcome to class... finally," Dr. Dillamond said as Galinda walked into the classroom.
"Sorry, Dr. Dillamond... had an emergency."
"What was this 'emergency'?"
"I sneezed... the witchling sits right on my bladder. I had to take a shower."
"Don't let it happen again."
"I... don't really have control over it, but okay," Galinda said, rolling her eyes as she sat at her desk.
"Don't listen to him, it wasn't your fault," Fiyero whispered, kissing her head.
"So... you peed your pants," Pfannee whispered.
"Shut up," Galinda whispered back.
"That's totally gross."
"It wasn't my fault. It's not like I did it for fun."
"Some do it for fun."
"That's disgusticifying."
"Miss Upland, would you like to share what you're talking about with the class?" Dr. Dillamond asked.
"No, Sir."
"Keep it that way."
Galinda let out a small huff of air, crossing her arms over her chest as she rested her head on Fiyero's shoulder. "Uptight ball of fur," she muttered.
"He won't always be like that," Fiyero whispered, kissing her head.
"Oh no..."
"What?"
"I'm gonna throw up," she said before quickly getting up and rushing out of the class.
"Now what's the issue?" Dr. Dillamond asked, annoyed.
"She's sick to her stomach," Fiyero said, getting up. "I'm gonna check on her."
"Very well."
Fiyero left the room and made his way out to Galinda, holding her hair back as she vomited into a trash can. It wasn't often that she got sick anymore, but he still hated to see her suffering the sickness.
Once her stomach was settled, Galinda let out a shaky breath, holding her head in her hands.
"You okay?" Fiyero asked.
"I think so," Galinda said with a sniffle. "I thought I was over the throwing up phase."
"Some women take a little longer to get over it. It'll pass soon."
"I hope so, I hate this."
"I hate it for you."
"Miss Upland, Mr. Tigelaar," Madame Morrible said as she walked up to them. "Why aren't you in class?"
"She's battling morning sickness."
"Morning sickness is for pregnant women."
"Yes, ma'am," Galinda siad, standing up straight.
Madame Morrible looked at the baby bump and raised an eyebrow. "I see. I didn't expect this of you, Miss Upland."
"Neither did we."
"I'm sure... Get to class when you've... recovered. I'd like to see you in my office tomorrow morning, Galinda."
"Yes, ma'am."
As Madame Morrible walked off, Galinda looked at Fiyero with worry in her eyes.
"She's gonna kick me out of her seminar, out of Shiz..."
"You don't know that," Fiyero said. "Maybe it won't be anything bad."
"One can only hope."
"Madame Morrible?" Galinda asked, knocking on the Headmistress' office door as she walked in. "It's Galinda."
"Come in. Sit. We'd like to speak with you," Madame Morrible said.
"We?" As she got further into the room, she saw her mother. "Oh... Hello, Momsie."
"So, it's true," Mrs. Upland said as her eyes landed on her daughter's growing stomach.
"You called my mother?" Galinda asked with furrowed brows.
"She has a right to know," Madame Morrible said.
"I'm eighteen years old. I'm not a minor."
"Why wouldn't you tell me you're having a baby?" Mrs. Upland asked as Galinda sat down.
"I hadn't figured out how to tell you yet. I wasn't keeping it a secret. I just couldn't find the right words."
"How about 'I'm pregnant'? Sounds pretty straightforward to me."
"I knew you'd be disappointed."
"I'm disappointed that you felt you couldn't tell me."
"Galina, I didn't call your mother to get you in trouble," Madame Morrible said. "I called her so you'd have support."
"I do have support," Galinda said. "Fiyero and I moved into the family dorms weeks ago."
"Who's Fiyero?" Mrs. Upland asked.
"The baby's father... my fiancée."
"Your what?"
"Fiancée. We have to be legally married to stay in the family dorm, so... he asked me to marry him."
"Another thing you kept from me."
"Not on purpose. Just until I found the words to say."
"And when is this wedding happening?"
"We're not having a ceremony. Not yet. We're just going to sign the papers so it's legal and we'll do a ceremony later. Probably after graduation."
"Sweet Oz..."
"I'm sorry..."
"Galinda, I just want what's best for you."
"Fiyero is what's best for me. He loves me. I love him."
"He loves you enough to get you pregnant."
"We both contributed to that."
"Did you come to Shiz just to sleep around?"
"No! I'm in love with Fiyero, I'm not sleeping with someone I'm not in love with."
"That didn't stop you in middle school and high school."
"Momsie, that was different. I was exploring and having a lot of first time experiences. Even if I was sleeping around here, I'm an adult."
"You were seventeen just six months ago. You're hardly an adult."
"We live in an apartment, we do what we're supposed to, we take on responsibilities. We're not just stupid kids."
"I'm just worried about you, Lindy."
"I know you are, but you don't have to be. I'm taking care of myself, Fiyero is taking care of me."
"Will he when the baby is born?"
"Of course. We're in this together, Momsie... I'm gonna be fine."
"I hope for your sake that you're right about that."
"I've never been more right in my life."
