3rd Person POV

The next few months flew by as Percy went through his first year at Hogwarts. With help from Cedric, he barely kept his grade alive during Potions. Something that he learned very fast, though, was that he should never be allowed on a broom. For some reason or another, Percy could never seem to stay on for even a short period of time.

During his first flying lesson with Madam Hooch, Percy not only managed to crash his broom, but he nearly flew into the Whomping Willow. After a few more failed classes and lots of begging from Percy, Madam Hooch suggested to the headmaster that Percy be transferred to any other of the numerous electives Hogwarts offered. It was here that Percy discovered an unexpected passion for dueling.

Now, Remus had done everything he could for his charge to be prepared for the world, and that included a little homeschooling in some non-typical subjects. Among those unusual subjects was offensive spellcasting. One of Percy's favorite spells was the disarming spell Expelliarmus. After the first few classes with Professor Ignatius, the DADA teacher, Percy found that he was rather adept at fighting. His blood pumped, and his usual flighty attention span seemed to help him notice even the slightest twitch of his opponent's wand.

With Christmas just around the corner, Percy prepared for his tests, the fear of which kept him up at night. You see, Percy had reading problems where the words seemed to swim around the page. It was no problem during class since he was allowed to use spells to help his concentration.

During tests, however, Percy could not use these spells without special approval from each of his teachers. While some, like Flitwick and McGonagall, had no issues so long as they were present when he cast the spells, others did not need it like in Herbology. However, some (Snape) had no intentions of allowing it despite Flitwick's best efforts. Only the headmaster's timely intervention allowed Percy to use the spells on Snape's tests. The headmaster had apparently received an owl from Remus with the details of his young charge's disabilities. Percy had not actually talked nor seen Dumbledore but had heard great things from his head of house, Hagrid, the groundskeeper, and on his own time, had read up on the famous wizard. Needless to say, Percy looked up to the man.

It was around Christmas that Percy began to worry for his guardian. Having not been there to help Remus brew his wolfsbane, Percy wasn't sure what he would do for the holiday. His few friends were going home, including the Weasly Twins. Now, the way that Percy had met the Twins was quite interesting. Percy had been in detention again, this time with Mr. Filch, when the twins also came in to serve their time.

Flashback Percy POV

I'm so bored. How much more is Filch gonna make me shine in here? Stupid Snape and his stupid prejudice got me stuck here. And he took the map too! Percy had gotten rather fond of the Marauders Map as the year passed. Using it to avoid teachers, sneak into the kitchens to chat with the elves and swipe some snacks and treats they prepared for him. He had just been leaving the kitchens when Snape had walked around the corner and had given him detention for the next week under Filch. Now Filch had him shining everything in the trophy room.

He had seen some of James' trophies as he had been shining but hadn't had time to return and find them in the massive pile of now shiny trophies in their cases. After he had finished, Flich told him to wait in his office to get his stuff back, knowing that his week was up.

Percy's musings were cut short by the door creaking open slowly and two mops of red hair peering around it.

"Oy, who are you?" one of the mops asked.

Unsure of what was happening, Percy replied, "Percy Lupin. Who are you?"

"I'm Gred," "And I'm Forge," they replied after shooting each other a quick look before replying in tandem. "Weasley!"

Percy had heard of the infamous Weasley's. Prankmasters of the highest regard, he had been having a sort of cold war over who could have the most detentions. While they had never met face to face, the troublemaker in Percy could not help but be impressed.

Percy and the Weasley twins quickly became friends. It quickly became known to all that whenever the Trickster Trio were seen running through the halls, one should hug the walls to escape the ire of Filch should they be pursued.

Present 3rd POV

As Percy walked through the halls reminiscing about his two best friends, he failed to notice them sneaking behind him.

"OY PERCY!" Fred yelled into his right ear.

Percy jumped and spun, firing off Expelliarmus on George, who had his wand raised for some kind of practical joke, no doubt.

George squawked in indignation at having been foiled in his joke. What Percy failed to account for was the other twin, who quickly made his hair turn blue.

"Finally got you, Perce!" Fred cried jovially while slinging his arm around his friend and brother.

Percy sighed in disappointment and handed George his wand back as they entered the Great Hall.

"Fine, you win this round, cheaters," Percy grumbled.

"Come on, mate! Cheer up! After all, we come with good news! Mom said you could spend Christmas with us!"

Percy perked up at that. He had only ever spent Christmas with Remus. 'Oh.' Percy thought. 'What about Remus? He needs me.'

"Sorry guys, but Remus might need me."

"Don't worry about it, mate! Mum already sent an owl, and he's alright with it!"

As breakfast continued, Percy began to wonder whether or not the twins were messing with him. That is, until a barn owl dropped a letter into his potatoes.

Remus said yes.

OK. I KNOW IT HAS BEEN A WHILE! CHRISTMAS CAME AND WENT, AND I THOUGHT ABOUT WRITING THIS MORE. TBH, I WORKED ON IT IN LITTLE SPURTS AS IT CAME TO ME, SO PLEASE EXCUSE IF IT SEEMS BROKEN UP. AGAIN I OWN NOTHING. I'M GONNA BE HONEST WITH Y'ALL TOO. I DO THIS FOR FUN. THIS ISN'T SOMETHING I'M GONNA DO VERY OFTEN. I AM IN COLLEGE, SO THAT COMES FIRST, AND WITH THE SEMESTER STARTING IN A DAY OR SO IT MIGHT BE A WHILE, BUT HOPEFULLY NOT AS LONG. THANKS FOR ALL THE REVIEWS! I'M ALSO TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHETHER OR NOT I'M GONNA DO A BIG TIME SKIP AFTER THIS AND JUST DO SMALL FLASHBACKS DURING IT TO EXPLAIN STUFF IF I NEED TO BECAUSE I WANT TO GET THE HP CANNON SOONER RATHER THAN LATER.
