Important Note: I've decided to remove the Spawn Crossover part from the fanfiction. The only reason i had Spawn as a crossover was just because Hayden Kyle/Spawn Morningstar is based on Spawn.
As rightfully pointed out by Sunwolf27 the "Spawn" part of the crossover can be misleading as there is no real correlation between this story and the Spawn Comic and/or Show (and there wont be.)
So if this fanfiction has been misleading because of this i do apologize. Embarrassingly, I never actually thought about that. Anyway on with the show!
Hello and welcome back!
I hope you all are doing well.
Hope you enjoy it.
(Side note: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is extremely addicting. So I'll just uh, blame that for the wait)
Hayden opened his eyes and almost immediately checked his phone: 10:33 AM. Almost as immediately as looking at his phone, he got out of bed, grabbed some nice clothes from his closet, quickly put them on, and then went to the bathroom.
As Hayden stepped out of the bathroom, he noticed a sweet smell of baking in the air, that he had somehow failed to notice before. Slowly he walked over to the kitchen where the smell was coming from.
Slowly entering the kitchen he saw a figure with their back turned to him. They were standing at the stovetop wearing an apron, the sleeves of their white dress shirt rolled up to their elbows, and a blazer was draped over one of the chairs at the table.
"Charlotte?" He asked tentatively.
An excited gasp cut through the air as she turned around. "Hayden!" She yelled while quickly pulling him into a loving embrace.
"Thanks for coming back," Hayden said as some tears began to form in his eyes.
"What makes you think I wouldn't?" They both pulled away from their embrace and Hayden wiped away his tears.
"When did you get here?" Hayden asked.
"I managed to slip away early, I got here at 9.45!"
"What! Why didn't you wake me?"
"Because you looked so adorable!"
Hayden rolled his eyes "...right…" He noticed a stack of pancakes next to the stovetop. "You made those?"
"Of course I did!" Charlotte then took his hand and dragged him to the table that already had plates, utensils, and various toppings placed on it. "Sit Down Haydie!"
Pulling out a chair, he sat down, and soon after, Charlotte placed a few pancakes on his plate and placed a mug of coffee next to it. She then placed some on her plate and sat down. "Well? What are you waiting for? Let's eat!"
"Don't mind if I do Char." After taking a few bites of his (delicious-as-all-Hell) pancakes, he brought the mug to his mouth and took a sip. No sugar, a small amount of milk. Just the he- no. Just the way Spawn liked it. "How did you know?" He asked.
Charlotte shot him with a cocky smirk, "You're not the only one having dreams of yesteryear, Haydie."
After they had finished, Charlotte and Hayden stood at the kitchen sink, washing the dishes. As they did so, Hayden took note of her outfit, it was a slightly different outfit than what his drawing depicted. The shoes were the same but her dress pants weren't black but were now coloured hot pink the same as her blazer.
"Is that your usual get-up?"
"Yeah," She took a step back and spun around, "What do you think?"
"Very chic," Hayden started while drying a plate, "But I miss the 1980s burglar Cosplay."
"Really?." She deadpanned.
"Uh Huh," Hayden responded while grabbing another plate. "Why were you wearing that in the first place? Did you want me to attack you?"
"No, I didn't want you to attack me! I wore it because I initially wanted to find evidence that you were my brother and I've never broken into a house before."
"Clearly," Hayden said, trying to hold in a laugh. "You need training."
After the dishes were neatly put away and the kitchen was all cleaned up, Hayden led Charlotte to the living room. "So, Princess Charlotte Morningstar!" Hayden said in a regal voice, "How can I be of assistance today?" He finished with a small bow as he sat down on the couch.
Charlotte looked down at her brother with an annoyed expression, "Please, never do that again."
Hayden let out a laugh, "Sorry, couldn't resist. What do you need?"
She sat down next to him, reached into her blazer pocket, and pulled out a pen and notebook. "I'm planning to take a few weeks off from the hotel," She flipped open the notebook to the calendar, showing a large gap in her schedule, "So I was thinking I could stay with you and you could show me around and make up for lost time!" She finished with a smile.
'My god, her happiness is infectious' Hayden thought, smiling at Charlotte's idea. "That would be awesome! What were you thinking?"
"Well," Charlotte started, "I was hoping you could help with that."
Hayden pulled out his phone "Let's get started then."
Charlotte pulled out her phone as well "What's your wifi password?"
After a while, Charlotte and Hayden had a sizable list of various activities such as going to see some sights and renting a nice cabin in the countryside for a few days among other things. Every idea they had filled the two of them with ever-increasing excitement. However, Hayden's smile and excitement dissipated as he realised something: 'How the Hell am I going to pay for all this?'
"Haydie? What's wrong?" Charlotte asked, quickly noticing his change in demeanor.
"Charlotte I haven't told you, but I'm currently unemployed, and no offense but I don't want to start taking money out of my savings just yet."
"Oh, don't worry about that, I'll pay for everything!"
"What?" Hayden said in disbelief with widened eyes. "Charlotte I-"
"Come on Hayden," She interrupted, "This isn't some vacation. This is making new memories after our old ones were taken away from us." Charlotte lowered her head slightly and put her hands in a praying position "Please?"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes"
"Okay. If you insist Char-"
"Hooray!" Charlotte cheered while throwing up her hands excitedly, catching Hayden off guard, and for a brief moment, a rainbow arched over her head that somehow came out of her palms. "This is gonna be the best vacation ever!" Without warning she hugged Hayden, bringing him down onto the couch.
"Yeah, it's going to be great," Hayden said while returning the hug. After a short while, he tried to get up only for Charlotte to tighten her grip on him. "Uhh, Charlotte? What are you doing?"
"I've always wanted to hear a human heartbeat." She said softly, nestling slightly into his chest, "It sounds beautiful."
For a moment Hayden let her listen to his heartbeat, realizing this was a very special moment. "Do demons have a heartbeat?" he asked.
"Yeah, but it sounds like a chainsaw." Charlotte got up and pulled Hayden up with her. She then put her notepad and pen back into her blazer pocket. "I should get going. I don't want to raise any suspicion."
Hayden nodded and they both entered the garage. Charlotte then recited the encantation like the first time and the portal opened up. "See you in a few weeks, Hayden!" she exclaimed, pulling him into a loving embrace.
"Can't fucking wait Char." He pulled away from the hug and stood back. Charlotte waved and stepped through, it closed just a moment later.
Hayden exited the garage and closed the door behind him. "Her break can't come soon enough."
See you next time!
