Bella Swan aka Princess
Bella pov
I woke up wrapped in warm arms, my back was still to the person who was sharing the bed with me. It's strange, how a week ago I would be a blushing mess if I had woke up like this. I bit my bottom lip when my mind went to Ed...him. The difference was the complete opposite, for months I got used to sleeping with ice cold solid like stone arms wrapped around me. Now I couldn't imagine swapping these warm solid but slightly swishy arms with anybody.
I squeezed my eyes shut to stop the tears, have I really been that quick to move on? No, I couldn't even think his name without my heart feeling like it was gaping open.
"Shush, I've got you." I felt and heard whispered in my ear.
I just sniffed, and kept my eyes closed trying to stop the tears, I tried to wrap my arms around myself but the way I was being held stopped me.
"You' re ok Princess, I've got you." I heard whispered.
I stopped crying and tried to roll over after hearing being called that, the arms loosened enough for me to roll over until I came face to face with Jared. He moved so that his left arm was under my head, his right hand came up and he wiped the tears that were still on my face.
"I'm not a princess" I sniffed.
"Yes you are, your are our Princess." He grinned, "Are you ok?" He asked, when he wiped again at the tears.
I ignored his question, I wanted to argue the point that I can't be a princess. "I'm not a princess, princess' are beautiful and happy females who get everything they ever dreamed of."
Jared laughed, before pulling me in closer so my head was rested on his chest. "You are beautiful Bella, but Princess' are also strong, tough and can get through anything."
"Well there you go then, I'm none of those, I'm not strong, or tough and how can you say I could get through anything when I feel like I'm falling apart." I whispered, feeling the tears fall down my face.
"Right now, I get it you are not feeling great, but in time Bella you will start to feel better and heal and then this will make you tougher. I promise you, you feeling like this won't be forever." Jared whispered to me, while rubbing my back.
This just caused a new round tears, I led there and allowed Jared to pull me so I was almost led on him. I sobbed and cried, and when I couldn't wrap my arms around my body to keep me together I wrapped them harder around Jared.
I heard the door open, and then footsteps. I looked past Jared when I felt another hand on my back. Sam was there kneeling at the side of the bed, looking worried.
"Bella, what is going on?" he asked.
When I didn't answer Jared spoke up "I gave Bella a nickname and she doesn't think that she deserves it."
Sam chuckled, before rubbing my back again. "And what would that nickname be?"
"Princess." Jared replied. "I told her that she is strong and tough just like a Princess."
"Do you know what Bella? I think Jared is right." Sam said, laughing loudly when I scowled at him.
"I don't think it does." I whispered, feeling my eyes fill with tears. They didn't really know me, I was anything but a princess, probably closer to the devil that brings trouble where ever I go.
I saw Sam's lips move, and then Jared was pulling his arms back from around me. He moved away and sat up, I followed him and sat up also, just has Billy walked into the room.
"What is going on in here?" he asked, yawning.
"Jared thinks I should be called Princess and I don't agree." I told him, hoping that he would be on my side.
Billy just laughed and shook his head before looking at me, "Bella, Jared likes to give people nicknames, I don't even want to know what mine is. But considering he has only ever called me Billy or Mr Black to my face, I have a feeling I probably won't like it."
"Yeah, um, I'm going to go to the bathroom and go home, Bella the name might not stick, but let me just have some fun. I could always call you Ringing Bells." He said, getting off the bed and laughing has he left the room.
"Ringing Bells" I whispered to myself and cringed, that is worse than Princess. "Absolutely not Jared!" I shouted out.
"I'm off to make breakfast, Bella I will call you when it is ready." Billy, called out has he left the room.
"Are you ok?" Sam asked, has he sat down on the bed.
"I'm not a princess, Sam." I told him sniffing.
He pulled me in for a hug and kept me in his arms until I pulled away. "We are having a bonfire tonight, so you can hear all the legends and meet the girls." Sam said.
I opened my mouth to decline, but Sam shook his head. " The Elders will be there along with the pack, come and listen to the stories, and if it gets too much then I will bring you back here."
"Ok, but I don't want to be treated like some shiny new toy by them and have loads of attention." I grumbled, giving into him.
"Of course not, you can sit by me and Billy, I was also thinking maybe just before the bonfire while everybody else is setting it up I could bring you to our house and give you a tour. Nobody will be there, then we can drive down to the bonfire." Sam said, looking hopeful.
"You promise that nobody will be there?" I asked, checking that I won't suddenly be introduced to the girls and be put in the spot light there instead of at the bonfire.
"I promise you Bella, I won't ever say one thing and then do another, that is not the type of person I am."
I nodded at him, and attempted to push him off the bed. "I need the bathroom and to get ready for the day so shoo." I told him.
He chuckled, before getting off the bed and leaving the room. I grabbed my clothes and wash bag before walking into the bathroom. Once I was ready and leaving the bathroom Billy called out that breakfast was ready, I dumped my stuff on the bed and walked towards the kitchen, I was not expecting Sam to be there along with Jake.
"Bella, I was wondering if you wanted to join me and Jake this morning to do a few jobs around the Reservation and drop off some wood to people that can't afford to heat their homes?" Billy asked, has we all sat down at the table.
"Sure, what will we be doing?" I asked.
"There are a few families and older people that live here that are on government assistance, we allow them to live here rent free just to help them as much as possible. Unfortunately that still is not enough, so I also buy a truck load of wood every month to help them keep warm. Jake will look around the homes and check that everything is working correctly and the building is in a good enough condition to house them. He will make a list, if any improvements need doing and then pass that list on to Sam. We have a few female volunteers that go every week with food hampers, but I like to check in on them and make sure there basic needs are being met. " Billy explained has we all started to help ourselves to the food on the table.
"That sounds nice, but what would I be doing?" I asked, I knew I wasn't strong enough to carry large pieces of wood and I wouldn't have a clue how to look for any building issues.
"Just meet the people Bella, some of them, especially the older people don't get out much to see different people." Billy said.
I nodded and stretched over to grab myself a piece of toast, after this mornings emotional display I wasn't feeling very hungry. I heard a huff and a tut, before a spoonful of eggs were added to the plate along with a piece of bacon. I looked up to see both Sam and Jake putting the serving dishes of both back on the table.
"Guys, I'm not very hungry."
"You just heard my dad Bella, there are people here that struggle to pay for food and even some that go hungry. Be grateful that you have access to food." Jake said, looking annoyed.
I looked down feeling guilty, he was right. "Eat what you can" I heard whispered in my ear before Sam sat back.
I looked over and smiled at him before picking up my fork, "brat" I heard Jake then whisper. Making me look at him has he smiled at me, I smiled back before picking up my fork and taking a mouthful of the eggs.
Sam left shortly after breakfast to work on a house in Forks, and then we left to visit some of the people, I was sat in between Billy and Jake and watched has we passed most of the houses and took a hidden dirt track. Billy stopped outside a cabin, that had flaky wood and yellowed windows.
"This is Mr White's house, Bella I want you to stay in the truck for this visit. He is a grumpy old man who hates visitors, he smokes too much and his house is filled with smoke." Billy said, has he and Jake both got out.
I moved across the seat and watched has Jake began picking up some of the wood while Billy knocked on the door. The door opened a few inches and an arm reached out and pointed to a wooden box that was sat next to the door. The door was then closed, Billy got back into the truck has Jake filled the box up.
"He doesn't like people, nothing personal, he won't let us in his house today. Some are like that, he lost his wife over ten years ago and sadly he is just waiting to die so he can join her." Billy explained.
Jake then got into the truck so I moved over, "Dad I don't think he will be here much longer, his breathing is raspy and his heart is beating too fast."
"He might surprise us yet Jake, I will come check on him next week. Bella, when I do this, I always bring a wolf. Their hearing is so good, if we think somebody's health is in question I can make sure they get treatment and somebody to check on them." Billy said, turning to look at me.
That was how our morning went, stopping at the cabins that seemed the furthest out, to begin with I watched silently has Billy and Jake spoke to the occupants making sure that they were fed and healthy. Some would include me in their conversations while a few would just ignore me, Billy offered to buy us lunch and I sat thinking to myself has I began to feel humbled.
Here I was crying over being left while these people try to enjoy life with what ever they had. My heart still felt like there was a hole in it, but I knew I had it better that everybody we had visited today.
I jumped when Jake shook me has Billy parked his truck outside the diner and got out.
"Bella?"
"Yeah, sorry Jake, just thinking." I told him, has he opened the truck door and held his hand out to help me out.
I watched has Billy walked a head of us and into the diner, Jake wrapped his arm across my shoulders and steered me towards the door. Just before he opened the door, he stopped us.
"I know it's hard to see people like that, but we are proud people and even having a little means a lot to us."
"I know, kind of makes you question some of the things you use because you can." I told him.
"It makes us humble Bella, and there is nothing wrong with that." He said, before opening the door and ushering me in first.
I felt Jakes hand on my back has we walked to the booth that Billy was sat at waiting for us to join him.
"Everything ok?" he asked.
Before I could answer Sue Clearwater came over and handed us menus, she made a point of saying hello to each of us before walking away.
"Bella pick something that will fill you up, we usually only have hot dogs and chips at the bonfires. Makes organising it and cleaning up after easier in the dark." Billy suggested.
I picked out a chicken burger, fries and side salad, I was determine to try to eat more. I knew Jake would finish what I couldn't eat so nothing would go to waste, but just to be grateful that I had food provided for me.
"Bella do you understand why I do this once a month, apart from the obvious that has Chief of the tribe I have to take some kind of responsibility?" Billy asked, has we were waiting for our food.
"To make sure the whole tribe is being looked after." I guessed.
"There is that, but we are a community, it is important that those able bodied should be able to support those in the community that struggle. Next year when we open up the Reservation to tourists and locals to show case our community spirit you will see how well we all work together, even the older members of the tribe are brought down to tell stories and their family histories."
"It's a really cool day, not only do you hear about our history but some of the members also sell their homemade good and do like little shows on rug making and basket weaving." Jake continued.
"It sounds like a really good day." I told them.
Sue then appeared with our food and we all stopped talking to eat, I tried to eat has much has I could but had to move the plate away from me when there was still half a burger and a good portion of the fries left.
"I'm stuffed, I tried to eat it all, but I don't think I could swallow another mouthful." I said, leaning back in my seat and rubbing my stomach.
"You don't eat enough Bella, its good that you tried, but you need to eat more than that." Billy began to lecture me.
"I really cant Billy, my stomach will hurt." I complained. I watched has he just shook his head and continued eating his food.
I watched has Jake swapped the plates over and finished my food, "You do need to eat more, you have just seen how some of our people are suffering Bella." Jake whispered to me.
"I know that Jake, but if I eat anymore I am more than likely to vomit." I snapped at him, ignoring his growl.
I sat back and watched has they both finished their food, Billy got up and paid the bill has Jake and I left the dinner. I walked on ahead not wanting another lecture about how food to eat.
We all got back in the truck, and I listened has Billy and Jake spoke about some of the house improvements that needed to be done.
"Do you have plans this afternoon Bella? I have a council meeting and Jake has some work in the garage to do. Jake can she join you?" Billy asked, has we got closer to Billy's house.
I didn't fancy sitting in the garage and having Jake lecture me more about eating, I had a feeling that I wouldn't be left alone if I said that I would just stay at the house on my own. Then I thought of Quil, we still had catching up to do and he never really cared about how much I ate.
"I think I'm going to go and see Quil and spend some time with him."
"Ok, I just need to run in and get some paperwork, I have to pick Old Quil up so I can drop you off." Billy said, has he parked up outside the house.
I nodded and watched has Billy got out, I felt Jake tap me on the shoulder and I purposely turned my head the other way and ignored him. I heard Jake growl again before getting out of the truck and slamming the door closed. I watched has he stomped off towards the forest. I really didn't care if I pissed him off, he had pissed me off.
"Jake gone then," Billy said has he got back into the truck. I moved over and he put the paperwork in the middle.
"Yep" I answered him.
"I don't think his wolf liked you snapping him." Billy chuckled, has he turned the truck around.
"None of them do, Sam is the same." I told him.
"Yeah, just be careful Bella, they may have phasing under control but if they get really angry just know to step away and give them some space."
I smiled at him and nodded, has he pulled up outside the Ateara's. "Thanks for today and lunch, it really did open my eyes to the people here." I told him before opening the door and climbing out.
I made my way to the front door, when it was suddenly opened and Uncle Quil stepped out and stopped right in front of me.
"Hello my sweet Isabella." He said, placing his hands on either side of my face and looking directly into my eyes.
"Hi Uncle Quil, I've come to see Quil for a bit."
"He is inside, waiting for you." He then really looked at me before saying "You are still struggling, you will get there soon and be happy again."
I just grimaced at him has I tried to smile. He kissed my forehead, before letting my face go and nodded. He stepped away from me, and walked around me and began walking towards the truck.
I let myself in, and was pulled into a hug by Aunt Joy, " afternoon Bella, Quil is in his room. Help yourself to anything you want, I will be back later." She said, before also kissing my forehead and walking out the door.
I walked down to Quil's room and opened the door to see him sat on his bed with what looked like an old book open in his hands.
"Hey Bella, let me just finish reading this, then we can do something." He said , not looking up from the book.
I walked over to his bed, toes my shoes off and sat down next to him. "What are you reading?"
"Spirit journeys from the last one hundred years that the my relatives have gone on." He answered still not looking up from the book.
"Read it to me"
"No can do, these are not to be shared, not even with you." He told me before closing the book.
"Not even shared with me?" I asked, usually Quil would share everything with me.
"Nope, there is stuff in here not for your eyes or ears, it's to help me on what has passed and what is to come."
"Really, will you have to go on one?" I asked.
"Yes eventually, I will be sent into the forest, drugged, hungry and weak to speak to the spirits. It won't be for a few years yet." He replied, wagging his eyebrows.
"Great, so you will be doing that and I will be sat around waiting and hoping you don't get hurt or go missing." I mumbled.
"When it is time I will be protected and safe, nothing to worry about." He told me taking my hand and squeezing it.
I just shrugged and pulled my hand out of his, not liking the idea of him going off on his own and doing this spirit journey. I can always make sure Sam is around if he is still phasing to protect him.
"How are you feeling, you still look sad?" Quil asked, looking into my eyes.
"Empty, like there is this massive black hole in my heart."
"Time Bella, give it time." He whispered, before getting up and taking my hand again before leading me out of his bedroom.
We sat in the lounge and flicked through the tv for a while, watching random shows until we both got bored.
"Fancy going down to the beach? I need to get some fresh air and get out of this house." Quil suggested.
"Yes, that sounds go." I replied, going into his room to get my sneakers, I walked out and took his hand before leading him to the front door. I kept hold on his hand has we slowly walked down to the beach. I stopped has we hit the sand to see Embry and Jake, building the bonfire.
"Are you coming to the bonfire tonight?" I asked Quil has we walked further away from them.
"I'm not allowed Bella, that is only for the pack and Elders, one day I will." He said, before finding a spot to sit down. I joined him and sat down next to him, leaning into his shoulder.
"That seems unfair, I'm not part of the pack and have been invited."
"You officially know all the secrets, so they are letting you be there. It's fine, I still have loads of reading to do and I can keep mom company." He said before laying back on the sand.
I looked down at him, choosing not to lay next to him and get sand in my hair, instead I moved so I could put my head on his stomach. We talked and laughed about our childhood and some of the pranks we used to play on Jake and then later Embry when he became friends with us.
I felt Quil put his hand on my chest, and lay it where my heart is, he felt warmer than I did so I could feel the heat seep into my skin and relaxed. He kept his hand there, and I could hear him mumbling something.
"What are you doing?" I whispered to him.
"Filling in that black hole you said your heart had with some of my love." He said.
I sucked in a breath and could feel my eyes water, "I love you Quil."
"I love you too Bella, so does my mom, my grandfather, your dad, Billy and the pack are falling in love with you too Bella. You are so wanted and cared for, we all just want to see you happy again, and I want to see your back bone again. I miss seeing the real you, and I want the pack to really see you, not this shadow." He said.
Before I could say anything else I jumped when I heard "Princess!" shouted out across the beach, I sat up to see Jared had stepped out of the forest and was walking towards us.
I grudgingly shouted out a "Yes" at my apparent new nickname.
"Sam is looking for you!" he called out.
"Princess" I heard Quil chuckle, until I poked him in the side.
"Can you tell him where I am?" I asked.
"He is waiting at Billy's for you." He replied, before turning around and walking back towards the forest.
Quil stood up and held his hand out, helping me to stand up. "Come on, I will walk you back, Princess." He stepped out of my way when I went to jab him in the ribs.
"That is Jared's new nickname for me." I grumbled again.
"It suits you" he yelped, when I got him in the ribs that time.
"So everybody keeps telling me." I grumbled.
Quil took my hand and led me back up the beach, he waved to Jake and Embry who were still adding bits to the bonfire. They were now joined by two females and Paul, who were sat down on a blanket.
It didn't take us long to get back to Billy's, Quil waved me off has I walked up to the porch and he carried on walking. I opened the door to see Billy and Sam sat in the lounge talking.
Sam looked over at me, and quickly stood up, walking over towards me. "You have been crying."
I ducked my head and nodded, "Quil got me a bit emotional, nothing bad." I added.
"You ok now?" he asked,
"Yes, I will be." I smiled at him.
"Billy we will see you in a bit at the bonfire, I'm going to show Bella the pack house." Sam, said has he walked over to the door and opened it.
"Sure."
I waved bye and followed Sam out of the house, he went to his truck and opened the passenger door for me before getting in the drivers side. Once were both in, he started the truck and headed back towards where the shops and most of the houses were. We went past the junction to leave the Reservation and then turned right on to a track road.
Before long the house came into view, the house was big and on two levels, there were two other vehicles parked out side. Sam parked the truck next to a red car, I climbed out of Sam's truck and looked at the house, I could now see that it was a two storey log cabin. It was a lot bigger than most of the houses on the Reservation and seemed more looked after than most of the houses.
I heard Sam slam the drivers door closed, I started to twist my hands . I was suddenly feeling nervous, I knew the others weren't here but my thoughts went to when I would meet them after looking at the house. What if they didn't like me because of my old friends? What if they didn't want another girl to join their group? What if they were like Lauren and Jessica from School?
I jumped when Sam wrapped his arms around me so that his hands were hanging from my shoulders. "Calm down Bella, nobody is here." Sam reassured me, leading me towards the door.
"I think I saw them on the beach." I told him.
"Yes, we didn't want to overwhelm you. So I thought it would be best to show you around and give you a tour while the house was empty."
"Thank you" I whispered.
Sam opened the door and guided me in. I looked around the entrance way, taking everything in. On the right was a small staircase, leading to the second floor. On the left was a huge dinning table with a chair either end and two long benches down sides, and just beyond that was the kitchen.
I felt Sam take my hand, "let me show you around."
I nodded and let him lead me to the kitchen, I took in the two ovens, the six ring stove and the big fridge freezer. "Through the doorway" Sam pointed out on the other side of the fridge. "is the pantry and laundry room." He then pointed to the door next to the ovens, "That door leads straight into the forest, we keep it locked and never use it unless there is an emergency.
He nodded to himself before leading me out of the kitchen, stopping at the dinning room table. "We eat our meals here, we try to eat together has much as possible."
"Do you all cook?" I asked, trying to imagine what it would be like trying to cook for all the wolves.
"No" Sam chuckled, "Emily does most of the cooking, Jared or Embry will help out, the rest of us can't boil water."
"Poor Emily, she must spend most of her days in the kitchen" I commented.
"No, myself and Paul makes sure that she doesn't. She only cooks breakfast and dinner. Lunch, we usually feed ourselves, unless Emily wants to make us food."
"Like the other day when we were at the cabin working?"
"Yes, I think she done that more for you than us, Paul's idea of sandwich fillings is questionable at best." He laughed, pulling a face.
"I will take that has a warning." I grinned.
"Come on, let me show you the rest of the house." Sam said, pulling me towards the room with the arched door way.
I followed Sam through the archway and stopped next to him, the room was a lot bigger than the kitchen and entry way. Taking up most of the room was a huge sectional, padded out with big cushions. On one end of the sectional was a recliner and at the other end was an over sized bean bag the same colour brown has the sectional and recliner.
The brown sectional was facing a fire place and above that was the biggest television think I had ever seen. "Big enough tv?"
"Paul and Jared bought that without me knowing, but I've got to say watching the game on it brings a whole new experience to it."
I shook my head at the typical man response, I looked around the room and saw the shelves filled with DVDs and photos.
"Come on there is more to see." Sam said, pulling me out of the room.
Sam still holding my hand turned around and led me towards a smaller archway that led down a hallway with closed doors on both sides.
He pointed to the first closed door on the left, "Emily's room, we respect the girl's privacy, you will have to ask Emily and Kim to show you their rooms." Sam said, pointing out Kim's room that was further down the hallway on the same side.
"This is the pack bedroom." Sam spoke, has he twisted me around and walked further down the hall. The door was opposite Kim's room on the right side of the hallway.
He opened the door and pulled me into the room, the beds were all king size squeezed into the room so that they were almost all touching each side of the bed. "How did you get all six beds in here?" I asked, turning to look at the door frame.
"Don't ask, it involved the window being removed and made wider." Sam replied, shaking his head.
I looked at the window, noticing that it was a floor to ceiling window that was almost the size of the wall. I looked around the room, and noticed that there was nothing else in it.
"The room next to it is the bathroom and further down is a closet, lets go back out so I can show you the upstairs room." Sam said, pulling me out of the room and pointing to the other closed doors on the same side of the hallway further down.
I walked next to Sam has we went back through the house and stopped at the bottom of the stairs, I looked up the stairs only seeing the one door. Before I could ask why, Sam squeezed my hand and we started to step up the stairs.
"This was the last room we finished" Sam said, before he opened the door and pushed it hard enough so it light hit the wall behind it.
"Wow" I gasped, the room was huge. It was over half the size the size of the area downstairs, the bed was bigger than king size. I looked around the room and noticed the double mirrored doors.
"Have a look around Bella, this is the guest room." Sam suggested letting go of my hand, that I didn't realise he was still holding.
I walked to the mirrored doors and opened them, inside was a closet about the same size as my bedroom at Charlie's. I bit my bottom lip when I realised that it was probably bigger than Alice's closet.
"Are you ok?" Sam asked, stepping closer to me and rubbing his hand up and down my back.
"Yes, just thinking, why is it empty?" I asked, considering seven people lived here I thought it may have been filled with some of their clothes.
"We have no use for it at the moment, so rather than fill it will with crap, I make sure that it is kept empty." Sam told me, which seemed to make sense to me.
I stepped back out and opened the other door "how big? I asked.
The bathroom wasn't has big has the closet but it was still huge by my terms, underneath a wall to ceiling window was a stand alone bath. On the wall next to it was a toilet and his and her sinks with separate mirrors. In the corner on the opposite wall was a shower cubicle.
"We thought about splitting the room into three, but each room would be too small and we had a feeling that this room was supposed to be the biggest." Sam said after a while.
"Why has Emily or Kim not claimed the room?" I asked, guessing that their rooms were smaller than this room.
"By the time this room was finished, they were happy and settled in their own rooms."
"So it just stays empty?" I asked, shocked that nobody else would want to sleep in this room.
"I sleep in here sometimes, the bed is very comfortable. If you ever want to stay the night Bella, then you can sleep in this room and have your own privacy." Sam said, has I walked towards the bed and he following me.
I pushed down on the mattress, toed my shoes off and climbed on to the edge of the bed, I bounced and smiled has Sam sat next to me.
"I think we might need to get you a little step stool, if you decide to sleep in here." He laughed.
"It's not that high" I told him before moving further on to the bed so I could lay down and put my head on the soft pillows. Sam joined me on the other side, we both moved our heads to the side. I knew we needed to go to the beach, but I was still nervous about meeting Emily and Kim.
"What if they don't like me?" I whispered after a few minutes of silence.
"They are going to like you Bella, they are both desperate to meet you."
"Do they know?" I asked, not wanting to go into details about the last couple of days.
"They do" Sam answered, taking my hand and squeezing it gently.
"But" I tried to say before Sam cut me off.
"No buts Bella, I promise they won't hate you, they won't judge you and your past decisions. They want to get to know you, that is all. You have given the pack a chance to get to know you, give them a chance to get to know you."
"I'm not very good at making friends."
"Do you have any friends at school?" Sam asked, I looked away from him and stared at the ceiling before answering him.
"Not really, maybe one."
"what but when you were living with your mom?" Sam asked.
I shook my head "never."
"Christ Bella, how?" Sam asked, sounding surprised.
"I just never felt like I fit into a group, people would talk to me but only when they needed help with a subject." I told him.
"Then you come here, with only Jake has your friend who doesn't even live near you. They saw you coming, and took advantage." Sam growled, I turned my head to look at him, and he had his eyes closed.
"They were the only ones that wanted to be my friends, maybe not Angela but to all the others I was just the shiny new toy." I told him, feeling the tears slide down my face.
"Come here" Sam whispered, pulling me closer to him so my face was resting on his chest. "I wish you moved back earlier, or grew up here."
"Why?" I asked, before sniffing.
"We would of all been your friend Bella, once Jake had phased into his wolf. He would of brought you along with him." Sam soothed.
"Do you think they took advantage of me, knowing that I had no friends?" I asked him, knowing that the answer was going to hurt.
"Yes I do, it makes sense now why you are so upset." He told me, wrapping his arms tighter around when a sob escaped my mouth and the tears ran down my face.
Sam Pov
I held Bella has she cried, how can somebody go eighteen years without any friends, the leeches took advantage of her being friendless. I can't remember not ever having friends, no wonder Bella is acting like somebody died. This is all new to her, having friends, if that is what you can call them and then them leaving.
I froze briefly when the front door opened and heard somebody climbing the stairs, I took a deep breath and relaxed when I could smell Paul, looked up to see Paul stood in the open doorway.
"Is she ok?" he whispered.
Bella must of heard him has she lifted her head off my chest, and wiped her face with her hand.
"We are all waiting for you?" Paul said walking further into the room. He watched me closely has he sat on the edge of the bed.
"Go clean up Bella, then we need to go, the Elders will only moan if they are made to wait. We can talk more later, ok." I told her has she sat up.
Paul helped her off the bed and walked behind her has she went into the bathroom, I heard him open the cupboard door under the sinks and get her a towel. He shut the door, and walked back to the bed.
"Does she like the room?" Paul asked, sounding has nervous has I felt earlier when we were stood at the bottom of the stairs.
"Yes, I told her that she can stay in this room when she sleeps over."
"When, not if" he chuckled.
"She will be staying, no if about it." I growled.
"When will you tell her this is her room?" Paul asked.
"When she is ready to hear everything." I had a feeling if I told Bella this was her room, she would baulk and refuse to come back.
"What was she crying about before I came up?" Paull asked, changing the subject.
"I know now why Bella is acting the way she is, I need you to leave before we do and tell the others. The leeches took advantage of her, probably fucking saw her coming. Bella has never has any friends, until she moved here and the leeches sucked hr in." I growled, clinching my fists when I could feel myself starting to shake.
"Calm down Sam, and what do you mean?"
"She has never had any friends." I repeated myself.
"How?" Paul asked, sounding confused.
"I know, we all need to show her that we are her friends now and we will never leave her, and that we will never fucking use her." I growled again.
"But, how has the she never had any friends, what about when she was living with her mom?" He asked surprised.
"None, just more people taking advantage of her."
"I will talk to Emily, she will know what to do." Paul said, before turning and walking out of the room just has the bathroom door opened.
"Where did Paul go?" Bella asked, sitting down near the bed and putting her shoes on.
"He has gone back to the beach, to let them know we are on our way."
I walked out the room, and she followed me back down the stairs. I stood by the door and watched Bella step closer to me, I could see that she was getting nervous again.
I pulled her closer to me, "everything will be fine Bella, we will listen to the legends introduce you to Emily and Kim, if it gets too much we can leave."
"Promise?" She asked.
"I promise Bella, just give them a chance first."
