Welcome back to The Injustice Wars. Last time, Blaze and Belial Aether figure out that Peacemaker has been taken out, several years later, and confirm to Wonder Woman that they didn't take him out, which we already knew. But as everybody started working towards fortifying the portal to the Rock of Eternity, just in the desert, Enchantress, Raven, and Killer Frost arrived. And after a few gripes about the desert heat, Darkblood contacted Enchantress telepathically, revealing he's sending them some aid. And when it arrives, the trio immediately realizes this is a hell of an opportunity for them. We don't see who's been sent, but some context clues make it quite clear. Anyways, today, we're starting our battle in Kahndaq. How's this going to shake down? Read on to discover...
(Our scene opens in Kahndaq proper, with Wonder Woman and Belial Aether, though curiously, there's no sign of Blaze or Black Adam, and the portal to the Rock of Eternity is actually open)
Wonder Woman: This must be the dumbest idea I've ever been a part of.
Belial Aether: Did you have a better one? (Not hearing anything) I didn't think so. Now shut up and get ready to strike. Now that that portal's open, your mystery threats are likely already on their way.
(And sure enough, Belial Aether is right, as almost immediately a shadow descends on the scene as some kind of spaceship hovers over the scene.)
Belial Aether: Well, there's your threat from the sky.
(Soon the ship sends down a beam of light, and in the beam materializes Grodd, indicating Brainiac has indeed taken an interest in Kahndaq)
Gorilla Grodd: (Looking around and not seeing Black Adam) Teth Adam rules this country with an iron fist, and isn't even bold enough to stand in it's defense himself? Pathetic.
Wonder Woman: Kahndaq has more protectors than Adam.
Gorilla Grodd: And you think you two can stop me? Please, you can't even shut the entrance! Getting into the Rock of Eternity will be easier than even I expected.
Enchantress: Well now, I wouldn't say that...
(And with that, Enchantress, Raven, and Killer Frost emerge.)
Belial Aether: And one from below. Right on schedule.
Wonder Woman: You will not get past us, witch.
Enchantress: (Chuckles) Please, Diana. You're not nearly as intimidating as you used to be.
Wonder Woman: (Seeing Raven and Killer Frost) You two used to be better than this.
Killer Frost: Better to be appreciated for what I am than be forced into service under you.
Raven: Surrender the Rock of Eternity, or face our wrath.
Belial Aether: You three don't scare us. Nobody gets behind our defenses!
Wonder Woman: (Drawing her sword) If you want the Rock of Eternity, you'll have to get through us.
Enchantress: As much as I'd love to hand you a resound thrashing, I'm afraid none of us will be doing the fighting, at least this time.
(With that, Enchantress snaps her fingers and the two aides Darkblood sent earlier come to the front, finally revealing themselves to be Black Canary and Green Arrow, still alive but now with decidedly more violet eyes)
Belial Aether: Ollie? Dinah?!
Enchantress: Destroy them.
(Without a word, Green Arrow and Black Canary rush into action. And immediately, Belial Aether is distracted trying not to harm his colleagues. Grodd meanwhile takes this opportunity to rush Wonder Woman. But even without her shield, Wonder Woman's Amazon strength is enough to hold the ape back. Needless to say the confrontation isn't going well for anyone at this particular moment)
Belial Aether: My friends, you have to snap out of this!
Enchantress: I'm afraid they can't hear you, Son of Anubis.
Wonder Woman: (Possibly trying to make a joke) Need a hand?
Belial Aether: You really suck at comic timing, you know?
(Clearly not amused by Belial Aether's retort, Wonder Woman straight up picks up Grodd and throws him at Green Arrow and Black Canary, knocking all three to the ground.)
Wonder Woman: You're welcome.
(Wasting no time, Grodd gets back to his feet)
Gorilla Grodd: ENOUGH OF THIS INSOLENCE!
(Grodd immediately hits the entire courtyard with his mind powers. Wonder Woman is floored by the sudden attack, and Darkblood's brides aren't doing much better while Green Arrow and Black Canary recover and start rushing at Belial Aether again)
Gorilla Grodd: Brainiac's fleet is already on the way here, Kahndaq will be collected no matter what you do!
(Belial Aether, being so far able to withstand the psychic onslaught, sees what's happening and gets an idea. He prepares his magic as a sideline effect by steeling his mind against Grodd, and by seemingly using Grodd's own mental might against him, Belial Aether charges three blasts of magic, two hitting Green Arrow and Black Canary straight in the face with the third hitting Grodd, stopping the onslaught. But when Belial Aether stops striking Green Arrow and Black Canary with magic, the two of them are somehow back to normal, free of Darkblood's influence)
Black Canary: What the...?
Green Arrow: Why are we in Kahndaq?
Belial Aether: It's a long story, I'll catch you up later. Right now, we've got bigger problems.
Enchantress: You better bet you do!
(Grodd realizes he's never going to have a better chance and just legs it straight into the Rock of Eternity.)
Enchantress: (To Raven and Killer Frost) You two handle them. I'll stop the overgrown macaque.
(Enchantress pursues Grodd into the Rock of Eternity portal while her fellow wives of Darkblood prepare to tear the four defenders a new death)
Black Canary: Shouldn't we be going after Grodd and Enchantress?
Belial Aether: Don't worry, there's a plan in action.
(And as the camera pans into the portal, our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good place to wrap up for now. So, good news, Green Arrow and Black Canary are safe and out of enemy control! Bad news, Grodd and Enchantress have made it to the Rock of Eternity. But there's a plan in the works evidently. And perhaps it has something to do with the fact that Blaze and Black Adam have been missing this whole time. I'll just spoil this much, it obviously relates to how those two are nowhere to be seen. And it should be pretty easy to see where they've been. But if you still can't figure it out, tune in next time for the answers! Same time... same channel!
