The Christmas holiday and new year came and gone, it was the start of the new year and before Hank knew it. It was time for him to go back to work, he would try and manage to work while Dani was at school, he would have to work something out in the afternoons.
Before he knew it the day came, he was going back to work. He was in a way relieved but he was also depressed. The older man enjoyed the time he had with his daughter. It was one of the many things that had brought him joy. And as much as he wanted it to continue he unfortunately had to go back to work.
The morning came and Hank got up, went to shower and changed into a long sleeve shirt, jeans and his boots. He retrieved his gun and badge from his safe and closed it. Once he was ready he had gone to get his daughter up. When he opened the door to her room, he expected her to still be asleep but instead, the six-year-old was fixing up her bed.
One the pink sheets, blanket and pillow had been fixed she went and grabbed some clothes from her closet. She had grabbed a pink long sleeve shirt, some purple jeans and her pink princess shoes. Hank felt his heart flutter as his daughter was attempting to learn how to be independent.
He had remembered very well when his son was learning how to be independent. It warmed his heart to see that Dani had acted like his son, in every way possible. Dani had gotten dressed and put her shoes on, they had been on the wrong feet but it was good for her. The small six-year-old had then attempted to pull her hair up but it had kept falling.
"Daddy, can you help me?" She looked at her father, long blonde strands of hair were all over and falling in front of her face.
The older man couldn't help but chuckle. He had gathered her long silky hair up in a ponytail. Once her hair was up he fixed her shoes and tied them.
"All done sweetheart, let's go"
Dani had grabbed her light blue and purple Frozen backpack and the two went downstairs heading for the door. Just as Hank opened the door a middle aged blonde woman was there with the same apple green eyes as Dani. She wore a white blouse, a blazer, black dress pants and heels. Her hair was pulled back. She had worn reading glasses.
"Sergeant Voight?" The woman says softly.
"Yeah, that's me," Hank answered cautiously. "Who's asking?"
"I'm Counsel Woman, Amelia Taylor. I am- was Serena Taylor's mother. Sergeant Voight, I'm Dani's grandmother"
