Hank had for sure froze on that. It was Serena's mother. But how had that been possible? Serena never told him about any family that was in the city, not that he remembers anyway. He couldn't help but keep Dani behind him shielding her small frame with his tall and large frame.
It had finally taken Hank a few moments to finally snap back into reality. "I'm sorry you said your name was Amelia?"
"Yes that's right"
"You caught me at a bad time. I was taking Dani to school and I was getting to work myself"
"I'm sorry to intrude like this. Perhaps we should meet later"
"I'll see how my caseload goes today"
"Of course"
Amelia had given Hank her cell phone number and other information, she had left followed by Hank and Dani. The older man had gone and put his daughter in the booster seat and buckled her in. Dani looked at her father.
"Daddy what's wrong?" She asked, her voice was soft.
"Nothing sweetheart" He gave a small smile.
"Who was that lady?"
"I'll find out later. Just know I'll always love you no matter what"
"I love you too daddy"
Hank kissed her head and closed the door. Before he got in the car he pulled his phone out and called Mouse.
"I need you to run everything you can on Amelia Taylor"
Once that was done he went and got in the car, he started driving. The older man had made sure to keep a lookout for any and all possible threats. With Amelia popping up, who knows who or what else could come with that. More threats. More danger. Possibly another custody battle.
The first one was already bad, Dani wouldn't be able to handle another one. He had kept a straight face for his daughter's sake. Hank didn't want her to worry. After what seemed like a long drive he had arrived at the school. Dani unstrapped herself and leaned forward kissing her father's cheek, smiling Hank had kissed her cheek.
"Have a good day sweetheart, I'll see you after school"
"Bye daddy. Be careful, be safe"
"I will sweetheart"
The older man had watched as his daughter hopped out of the car and went inside the school. He watched the entire time until she was completely inside the school. After making sure she was safe he pulled off heading for the district.
Hank arrived in record time and went inside, he ran inside as if his heels were on fire. Trudy was at the desk reading her morning paper and sipping her hot coffee. He quickly made his way to her desk, the desk Sergeant glanced up.
"Morning Hank, what can I do for you?" Trudy asked her long time friend.
"I need a favor" His voice held a sense of urgency.
"What do you need?"
"A woman came to my house saying she's Serena's mother. I need you to put a detail on Dani. I don't want anyone getting near her"
"Consider it done. You want me to dig up what I can on this woman?"
"Just what you can find, I got Mouse researching more on her"
"I will definitely do what I can"
"Thanks Trudy"
"Not a problem"
Hank had then gone upstairs to the squad, everyone was doing paperwork to close their old cases. Mouse however was researching Amelia he was going to find anything and everything, he didn't want to find any surprises and Hank rings his neck.
The older man was in a bit of a mood and walked straight to his office and closed the door. Pinching the bridge of his nose he leaned back against the door taking in a deep breath and letting it out.
This was going to be one long day.
