More days had gone by and still radio silence from Amelia and her husband, Hank hadn't lowered his guard for a single moment. He didn't trust neither of them nor would he put anything past them, he never put anything past anyone. Especially people in power like her. Power and money can make anything, Amelia had both as did Mark.

Hank was trying to make sure Dani had stayed away from this as far as possible. After dropping her at school that morning he had Adam and Kevin parked outside of her school for the day. He still had the rest of his team looking into Mark and Amelia, he didn't care what they found. If either had so much as a parking ticket or even stole a pack of gum, he would find out.

As the team was working someone had been coming up the steps, heels clicking against the floor they all had glanced to see Amelia walking through the squad heading straight for Hank's office. It had been taking all of Erin's strength not to get up and strangle the life out of this woman.

Briefly knocking on the door Amelia had opened the door to Hank's office stepping in. Hank glanced up looking over a file, closing it he leaned back slightly in his chair.

"Amelia, what a nice surprise. What brings you by?" Hank asked.

"Well you always surprised me at my office, I thought I'd return the favor. May I sit?" Amelia replied, taking off her jacket.

"Go ahead" He pointed to the chair across from his desk.

"Thank you" Placing her red leather jacket on the back of the chair she sat down smoothing her long pencil skirt out and crossing her legs. "I think we should start our relationship over"

"And what relationship would that be?"

"For Dani. Mark and I came off hard and unreasonable, I lost both of my girls and that was my own doing. I failed both of them. When I heard about Dani I knew I could make things right by being involved in her life and making sure she's well loved, cared for and taken care of. I know and understand that Dani is also your granddaughter through your son, Justin. I think we should be on the same page for her sake, she doesn't have either of her parents or her aunt. She deserves to at least have her grandparents on the same page instead of bickering and fighting. I'm willing to put all this behind us if you are, for Dani's sake. We should put any and all differences aside for her sake"

For a moment Hank was quiet before he spoke. "Very good effort for that, trying to win me over to get to Dani. I ain't stupid nor was I born yesterday. I know the game you're playing and I ain't buying it for one second, the closer you get to me and Dani, you'll think I gained your trust enough to let you see Dani and then you make your move and take her. Not happening now or ever. More importantly, how exactly did you find out about Dani? Serena never told you she was pregnant let alone she had the baby. So if she never told you, how'd you find out?"

"That's not of any concern"

"You hired a PI to find Serena, when he lucked out on finding her because she died. He dug further into her and in her medical records and found out she had a baby. You had that PI follow Dani and he reported back to you then you followed Dani from there"

"I…I don't know what you're talking about"

Hank tossed the case file he was reading over towards her and it was in fact the file of the PI Amelia had hired. Amelia was stunned when she saw the file in front of her.

"You hired him right after she was put into foster care and when she was placed with me is when he started following her and me. He's at her school right now, watching and waiting but guess what he ain't getting her because one of my officers is escorting him back here and if anything happens to them, I will bury you and your little boy toy"

"Hank please, she's my granddaughter"

"And she's my daughter. I have to do what's for her best interest and protection, that means keeping her from you. I will protect Dani as long as I'm alive and nothing will stop that. It's now time for you to go"

Without a word she grabbed her jacket and stormed out, her sharp heels clicking harshly against the tile floor and out the district to her car. After getting in she slammed the door shut.

"You'll protect Dani as long as you live, let's see how long that'll be"

Not long after she had left Adam and Kevin had arrived back with Dani. They had taken separate cars to keep the investigator away from the young girl. Kevin had escorted the investigator inside while Adam got the young girl out of his car.

"And down we go darlin, time to go inside for a snack" Adam tells her with a smile.

"Can we have apples and peanut butter?" Dani asked with a toothy smile, one of her baby teeth was loose and about to fall out.

"Let's go see what we can find"

He walked her inside unaware from a different car Mark had been watching them.
