After Hank had left for the day, the weather was perfect for a day out. Cam had taken Dani out to the zoo, she informed Mark and Amelia of her plans with the young girl. They knew it would be a perfect opportunity to get their young granddaughter but it would raise a lot of red flags. It could eventually put Hank on Cam's radar, they were trying to keep quiet to hopefully keep Hank off their trail.
Dani and Cam had gone to the zoo, the young girl hadn't suspected anything from her new babysitter. The two girls walked around to the different exhibits and Dani loved it, she had been enjoying every minute of it. She loved animals. Cam plastered a fake smile on her face, she hated doing this but she had no choice.
The two girls reached the panda exhibit and Dani took off to get a closer look, Cam kept her eye on the six-year-old while waiting for either Mark or Amelia to show up. She had no idea what she had gotten herself into. The entire time she felt her heart hammering in her chest so fast it could burst out of her body.
The young woman jumped when she felt a tap on her shoulder and her heart nearly leaped out of her chest thinking it was Hank but when she turned to see who it was, it was Mark.
"Easy, just calm down," He told her.
"Sorry, I thought you were Sergeant Voight" She replied, calming down. "I really don't wanna do this"
"That is your choice but remember what'll happen if you don't see this through. If we go down, we're taking you with us. Just remember that"
Cam swallowed hard and nodded. "She's just a little girl, she's happy why bother her life?"
"She's my granddaughter, my blood, my family. When you have a family of your own one day, you'll understand"
"How long do I have to do this?"
"Till we don't need you anymore"
The young woman nodded sadly and looked to the distracted child. "She's right there"
"I'll take it from here, just keep a lookout"
She nodded and watched as he walked over to the little girl, what in the hell had she gotten herself into? She didn't know how this would eventually play out but she knew regardless of how it did play out the only one who'd be getting hurt would be Dani. Every instinct told her to go to Hank and confess but then if she did her life would be forever ruined. She was indeed trapped.
Mark saw his granddaughter and went to her, bending down to her level with a soft smile. "Hi there"
Dani looked back at the new voice behind her. "Hi"
"My name's Mark"
"I'm Dani"
"That's a pretty name"
"Thank you. My daddy says I shouldn't talk to strangers"
"It's okay, I'm not a stranger, I'm actually a friend of your dad's. He said it was okay for me to see you here" He hoped she saw through his lie. He didn't know if Hank taught her any of his tricks yet. She definitely did seem very naive like any young child.
The little girl looked unsure of Mark, she wanted to believe him but had been very conflicted. "Are you sure my daddy said it was okay? I don't wanna get into trouble"
"You won't get into trouble, I promise" If anything Mark would most likely be in unimaginable pain if not dead, if- no when Hank finds out he was near Dani.
She nodded believing him, Mark was actually thankful she was naive and saw through his lies. This would be one of the easiest things he's ever done. Had she been older it wouldn't have been this easy.
"How do you know daddy? Do you work with him?"
"Something like that"
"Do you wanna see the pandas? I like pandas"
"I would love to"
He walked with her through the exhibit, this would only be the beginning of Mark's manipulation of the young girl. He knew when Hank found out it would cost him dearly but at that moment he simply didn't care.
With his two girls gone, he and Amelia had the chance to start their family over with Dani. Come hell or high water they would get their granddaughter back.
