Chapter 28

I hate Jake! He comes back to town after all these years. And runs into Brooke. By accident. Lucas didn't believe that.

Lucas took a breath. And looked to Eugene.

(Would it matter to you if I liked Jake or not?) Lucas asked.

(Yeah it would. I care what you think.) Eugene said.

From the look on the young boy's face. Lucas knew Eugene truly meant it.

And he knew the power that held.

I liked Jake for alot of reasons he was open honest a hands on father. And very hot. Plus and more importantly I felt like I could just be myself and let down my guard whenever we were together.

It was a breath of fresh air. He was an adult. I didn't have to compete with anyone else for his time or attention. I knew what he was thinking and feeling.

(You having a teenager now is still something I can't wrap my head around.) Brooke said.

As the food they were ordered came to the table.

Jake smiled. (I know. It's something I'm still getting used too.)

(When she was younger she was more like me but as she's gotten older I see alot !more Nikki in her. And I'm not sure how to handle that.) Jake admitted.

Brooke took his hand in hers. As she looked in his eyes.

(You have been the greatest possible father to her from the start. Trust me she needs you now more then ever. She's 13. That's the start of teen years. Confusion. Wanting to fit in etc.) Brooke proclaimed. Recalling her early teen years.

(What is the situation with Nikki now?) Brooke asked. Wondering if it was too delicate of a subject to discuss. But she was too curious not to question it.

(When Jenny was younger we shared custody but as the years went on.)

(Nikki 's lack of maternal instinct started to show up again.)

(Long story short she lost custody a few years back. When Jenny was 10.) Jake revealed.

Brooke felt a sadness she hadn't expected hearing that.

The two eventually finished their dinner and dessert.

Before Jake drove her home. As the two started kissing on the front porch.

Brooke could feel him eventually breaking the kiss.

(You could come in and we could spend some time together.)

(Eugene won't be home for another two hours.) Brooke explained.

(It's impossible to resist you Brooke Davis.) Jake replied.

As he followed her inside.
