At the Police Station,

Malcolm and Rose were playing cards on Christmas Eve when their map screen turned on alerting them. Rose ran to the computer and turned it on to the map. She could not believe what she saw. "Emergency! Firefighter reported missing. Search and Rescue mission required." The map screen read out loud.

"PC Malcolm. We got to call Fireman Sam and let them know that we're heading out to find their missing firefighter. We're searching the town with him."

"Already did, Sergeant. He told me that one of their own is missing. I think it's Penny. Any ideas?"

"Hmm... You may be right. We better get going."

"I'll let them know that we're on our way."

"Copy that. I'll take the 4x4, you take the quad."

"Roger that, Sergeant."

Malcolm and Rose raced to their cars and drove off to meet with Sam to find Penny unaware of who else was missing. They drove off from the Police Station with blues and twos on and raced off to find Mercury with Sam. The sky was getting dark and the snow was blowing towards them. "PC Malcolm calling Mercury. Come in, Sam." Malcolm radioed.

"Hello, Malcolm. Sam here. Where are you?"

"We're on our way now to meet you. We heard that Penny hasn't turned up. Do you think she got caught in the snowstorm?"

"That might be the case. Let's check it out. I'll meet you outside the park."

"Sam. That's out by the Fire Station."

"I know... I'll meet you out by the lighthouse."

"Roger that. Sergeant. I'm heading for the lighthouse."

"Copy that, PC Malcolm. Stay safe out there."

"Understood, Sergeant."

Malcolm drove off to find Sam at the lighthouse. They knew that time was running out and then they had to get her home before Christmas morning. Malcolm drove through the town like a crime was in progress.

Out in the mountains,

Penny had tried digging Venus out of the snow and it was successful up until they needed a way out. She was getting everything loaded up in the back of Venus and got in the driver's seat. She fastened her seatbelt and the twins looked at her. "You two ready to go?" Penny asked.

"Yeah. I hope Uncle Sam finds us soon." James answered.

"Me too." Added Sarah.

"Don't worry, you two... We'll be on our way now."

Penny started the engine and then she looked at the snowplow she attached to Venus while digging out the tyres. They drove off back up the trail to find another way home towards Pontypandy. The snow was getting thick every time they made a path. Penny managed to get it clear enough for them to make it towards the old well. It wasn't long until the battery had stopped working for Venus. "Uh oh..." Penny said.

"What's happening now?" Sarah asked.

"Venus is broken down... I don't know how it happened. Not a problem... I'll find out what's happened and then we'll see what we can do. Ok?"

"Ok, Penny." The twins replied.

Back at the Fire Station,

Ellie was at the computer checking her emails from the Fire HQ in Cardiff in addition to the Home Office HQ in London. She was just writing a message to her HQ supervisor about the damage to Jupiter when the alert came through. Ellie activated the map screen. "Sarah and James Jones are missing in the snow. Last seen on Pontypandy Mountain. A Search and Rescue mission is required immediately." The map screen told her.

"Seriously? Can this day get any worse?" Ellie asked herself as she picked up the headset.

"Pontypandy Fire Station to Mercury. Can you hear me, Sam?" Ellie called.

"Loud and clear, Ellie. What's the problem?"

"Sarah and James Jones are missing in the snow. Last seen on Pontypandy Mountain. A search and Rescue Mission is required immediately."

"Roger that, Ellie. We'll look for them. Did anyone catch that?"

"Sergeant Ravani here, Sam. I am on the lookout." Rose replied.

"Jupiter copies, Sam." Jason replied while Elvis was holding the radio.

"I copy, Sam." Steele acknowledged.

"Copy that, Sam. I'm on my way now." Malcolm added.

"Phoenix copies." Arnold chimed in.

"We're on it, Sam." Helen replied.

"Titan here, Sam. I'm with Arnold and Hydrus right now." Ben added with Jodie on board.

"Ellie. See if Tom can take the 4x4 and find them. The wind's too fierce to use the helicopters and Saturn." Sam told her

"Sam, Penny has Saturn. I'll call Tom, though." Ellie replied.

"Thanks, Ellie."

Ellie switched the controls on the control desk and called Tom. She needed someone from Mountain Rescue to find Penny and the twins with the Fire Service, Police, Search and Rescue, and Coast Guard. "Pontypandy Fire Service calling Mountain Rescue. Come in, Tom." Ellie radioed to Tom.

"Mountain Rescue, Ellie?"

"We need the 4x4, Tom. Sarah and James Jones are missing. Last Seen on Pontypandy Mountain. A search and Rescue Mission is required immediately. Be on the lookout for Penny as well. She was last seen in Cardiff heading back to Pontypandy."

"No trouble, be there in two blinks of a Reindeer's red nose (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer). Over."

"Copy that, Tom. Over and out."

Ellie set down the headset and continued her work on the computer. Tom was at the mountain rescue center after he had just got back from the shops in Cardiff with Wallaby 2. He grabbed the keys to the 4x4 and drove off in the snow.

Back on the trail,

Penny was looking at the engine for Venus and it was indeed broken. She went over to the toolbox and set her tools down before she picked up a flare. "Sorry, you two... Venus' Engine is broken. I'm gonna have to send up a flare." Penny told them while heading to a safer launch site.

The twins looked at each other and then watched Penny set off the flare hoping someone would see it. She walked back to the twins who were still in Venus thinking about their uncle Sam looking for them. "I hope someone finds us, James." Sarah told him.

"I do too, Sarah. I don't suppose we'll ever get home in time for Christmas."

"Don't worry, James. Someone's bound to come looking for us. I hope..." Penny told him reassuring him everything was ok.

"You sure?" Sarah asked.

"Yes, Sarah... I'm sure. Why don't you come over to me and I'll wrap you up in a warm blanket?"

Sarah went to where Penny was and she felt a blanket wrapped around her nicely and it was warm. James could smell something burning and he alerted Penny. "What's up, James?" She asked worriedly.

"Fire..."

"Fire... Where?"

"Over there... Someone left a campfire unattended..."

Penny looked over at the fire and she could see that James was right. There was a fire about 15 feet from their location. She grabbed her helmet and fire extinguisher. "Well done, James. You had me thinking I responded to 3 emergencies today... I just made that 4 now." Penny told him as she raced to the fire.

James seemed confused at what she meant and he looked at Sarah. Sarah had no idea what Penny meant and then they watched Penny fight the fire. She didn't take long as it was an unattended campfire. Penny soon had finished putting out the fire and walked back to Venus. She sat down next to Sarah and had an idea. "Why don't I get us a campfire going to warm us up and someone will find us if they see the flare. Ok?" Penny said as she went to get some branches to build a fire.

"Ok... Will someone find us, Penny?" Sarah asked.

"Yeah, Sarah. Someone's gonna find us. I hope..."

"You think Uncle Sam can find us?"

"I'm sure he will."

Penny found a good spot to start a campfire and she set it nearby Venus in case the twins needed something. She lit the campfire and the twins gathered by the fire right next to Penny and they were all hoping that someone would find them.
