The firefighters and all of Pontypandy were celebrating Christmas with the Christmas Turkey, Figgy Pudding, Hot Chocolate, and a Christmas feast. Sam had been leading the table in Christmas Carols with Elvis adding his guitar into the music. By now, the storm had just cleared and the Winter storm was safe for Wallaby 2 to fly high in the sky again. Christmas Eve was a lot of fun when family and friends celebrated the holiday together. Penny was out on the Fire Station Balcony when Sam came along to see what she was up to. "You alright, Penny?" He asked.
"Yeah. I'm fine, Sam. Just... Ok... I'm not alright. I wish my cousin Annie was here with Miss Pawdry. Somehow I think they're still in Dublin right now. Enjoying a wonderful Christmas in Ireland."
"Yeah... I guess they probably are. It's challenging to miss someone in your family. I'm sure Annie would be around for the big day tomorrow."
"I hope so."
"We're almost towards the end of the celebration. Maybe we can-"
Sam and Penny paused for a moment as the Station Computer sounded prompting Sam to rush down to the Office and find out what the emergency was. He turned on the map screen to see the emergency. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. "An unknown aircraft has crash landed in Pontypandy and there are wild deer all over Pontypandy." The mapscreen told him.
Sam wasted no time sounding the alarm as Penny heard it and rushed down the pole while Ellie and Elvis got their gear together. Station Officer Steele went to the office. Sam was soon heard on the P.A."An unknown aircraft has crash landed in Pontypandy and there are wild deer all over Pontypandy." Sam announced.
"Wild Deer? Never heard that before."
Sam joined his team downstairs as the people of Pontypandy made some space for the team. They all needed to form a plan to deal with this situation. They all got their standard turnout gear and Animal Rescue Uniforms. "Sam. You and Penny will take Jupiter and handle the aircraft in distress. Elvis and Arnold, you take Phoenix to handle the deer. Lizzie will be on hand in the 4X4." Steele said forming a plan.
"Yes, sir."
They all rushed to the vehicles. Sam and Penny went to Jupiter while Elvis and Arnold took Phoenix to round up the animals. They all turned their lights on but kept the sirens off so as not to scare the animals. The snow was still falling but it wasn't bad to put out another alert of a snowstorm. Several deer that Sam was thinking about came across Jupiter and they went past them. "I think I know what we're dealing with." Sam told Penny.
"What makes you say that?"
"Those deer we saw? They look more like Reindeer."
"Reindeer? What are Reindeer doing in Pontypandy, Sam?"
"Good question."
"Elvis. You and Arnold are dealing with Reindeer. Remember your training. Don't use the sirens. We need to draw them back to the owner." Penny radioed.
"We're already on it, Penny. They'll be back with you at any moment. We're gonna find a place to begin rounding them up."
"Excellent. Sam and I are arriving at the down aircraft. Stand by."
Penny and Sam parked Jupiter near the crash site and Sam got the hoses ready while Penny went to Jupiter's lockers and grabbed the airbags and Cribbing. As she came up to the down vehicle, she tripped over something and it caused her to fall dropping the tools. "What is that?" Penny asked.
"What have you found, Penny?"
"Hmm... Let me see... If we're I think we are... I say I am holding... A black Rock... And a... Candy Cane?"
"That's strange. Who would carry black rocks and Candy Canes?"
"And there's more black rocks, Sam. Look. There's a mess on the aircraft. The paint is all scratched, the parts are broken... and... The animals are missing."
"Very strange."
As they continued to investigate the scene and the debris found at the sight of the crash, they heard something climb on top of the vehicle. Penny looked behind her and saw a pair of boots similar to the one that Admiral Jones would wear. "Er... Sam... I think I found someone." She told him.
"Who?"
"You might want to have a look for yourself."
Sam had a look before he saw the boots Penny told him about. Just as they were about to ask if he was okay, Penny's cousin Annie came by. "Penny. I'm so glad you came. Have you found the deer yet?" Annie asked.
"Annie... Wait a minute... Deer? You mean the ones we saw on our way here?"
"Yeah. Miss Pawdry went with them a-and... I-I... I don't know what else happened... I'm so sorry, Penny..."
"Annie... It's ok... Cats will always find their way home."
"You sure, Penny?"
"Yes, I am sure, Annie."
"Ok."
"Got a question for you. Do you know what these rocks are?"
"Hmm... I believe I saw this at the first Country Market we had. PC Malcolm had it for his Barbecue."
"Wait a minute... Barbecue... Black Rocks... Hmm... I say... These black rocks are... Coal?" Sam replied knowing the answer.
"What do you mean, Sam?"
"Reminds me of the Charcoal Barbecue Trevor Had out in the forest once and we responded to that."
"Hmm... Good point."
"He's right. Coal can be used for a barbecue... But... It's also what those on a list get if they have been bad." A voice said.
"Who said that?" Penny asked.
"I did."
Penny looked under the vehicle and she could see a pair of white gloves, a red coat, and a red hat. There was also a white beard seen. She carefully lifted the vehicle and Sam helped with the airbags. She got under the vehicle which was upside down. "Sir. Are you ok?" Penny asked.
"Ho ho ho... I'm ok. Except that My sleigh crash-landed. We may have lost something. I don't know if I can finish up the deliveries of all the gifts to all the children across the world. That is if I can repair it with a little help from my Elves."
"Hang on a second. Elves, Sleigh, Reindeer, Coal, Candy Canes, Gifts, and... Santa Claus."
"Yes. It is I... Santa Claus, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, St. Nicholas. That's me."
"Hang tight, Santa. We'll soon have you free. My name's Penny. I'm a firefighter here in Pontypandy. I'm gonna call for some of my friends to help. Ok?"
"You got it."
Penny crawled out to get her radio and Sam could see the look on her face. He just didn't have time to ask her about it. Penny went to Jupiter and got the radio to call for Police Assistance with Mountain Rescue. "Jupiter to Base. Jupiter to Base." Penny radioed.
"Go ahead, Penny. Steele here."
"Sir... We're going to need Air Support from Fireswift, Wallaby 2, and the Police Helicopter. We have a Sleigh that crashed. Reindeer on the loose."
"W-w-w-what?! R-r-roger that, Penny. I'll scramble Air Support as soon as possible."
"Ok, sir. Over and out."
Penny stored the radio in Jupiter while Sam and Annie worked to bring the sleigh up a little more. As soon as they did, Santa was able to free himself from under the sleigh. He was covered in snow and the sleigh was only damaged upon impact. "Hmm... It looks like this can be repaired. I'll have to get my Reindeer back into their Harnesses. Have you seen them?" He asked Sam.
"Yeah. We saw them when we came to rescue you."
"Ho ho ho ho ho ho. Seems to me like they smell food."
"Sam... Come in, Sam. We rounded up the reindeer. Lizzie and I are working with the Police to bring them back to your location." Elvis radioed.
"Roger that, Elvis. We located the owner. He's ok. You can bring them back now. Everyone is safe."
"Oh my... I better hurry and deliver these gifts... Except that the sleigh is damaged. Whilst the Elves are working on the sleigh... I'll need to work out a plan to make the deliveries." Santa added.
"Really?"
"Yeah... Question is... How?"
"Hmm... We can have our Air support help. We can send you down to the roof with a safety harness and then you can climb down the chimney and make the deliveries."
"Ho ho ho... What a marvelous idea, Sam."
"Tom?" Sam radioed the Pilot in Wallaby 2.
"Yes, Sam?"
"How do you fancy a Christmas Delivery run?"
"I'm up for it, Sam."
"Ok. I need you to pick up Santa Claus and help him load up the gifts into Wallaby 2. Christmas needs our assistance."
"Roger that, Sam. Krystyna, I'm gonna need backup. Sergeant Ravani, will you help us with the deliveries?"
"Roger that, Tom." Krystyna replied.
"On my way, Tom." Rose radioed back.
Air support was on the move to help Tom and Santa Claus with the deliveries. Sam helped Santa load up the Christmas Gifts on a wood pallet before securing it. Tom came by and picked up the gifts that needed to be delivered across Pontypandy. Santa was soon onboard Wallaby 2 and they were off. Elvis and Arnold came by with Malcolm who brought the Reindeer back to the sleigh. They all worked hard and very carefully with the help of Santa's elves securing the Reindeer to the sleigh. "There... We have all the Reindeer secured. We got Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, and Vixen... Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen... And everyone's favorite Reindeer of all... Rudolph." Sam said taking a count of all the reindeer.
Rudolph's Red nose started to shine so bright, that the team was given some extra light and they all went to work fixing the sleigh that landed into Pontypandy. Penny helped by shining Jupiter's headlights and more light was added. With a lot of teamwork, they were all able to save Christmas. Sam's radio was in constant communication with Tom, Krystyna, and Rose. Out of nowhere, Miss Pawdry was on the streets of Pontypandy while Rose was on Traffic Duty after the Reindeer left a mess. She went over to the Sergeant and sat down beside her. Rose looked down beside her and saw the cat. "Miss Pawdry. What are you doing out here?" Rose asked.
Malcolm was taking notes of the mess when he saw Rose pick up the cat and pet her. "Found yourself a cat, Sergeant?" He asked.
"Yeah. Penny's cat. I saved her from the Rocket-Powered Hovercraft. The one you picked up at the Police Station."
"Right... You can call Penny and let her know that Miss Pawdry is safe with us."
"Roger that."
"I can go ahead and let Sam know that Miss Pawdry is safe. What's the status of the Reindeer that were here?"
"Seems like they went back to their sleigh. Heard from Penny someone crash-landed. No problems. Just some repairs to be made and then they'll be back to work."
" ... Should you be helping Tom and Krystyna?"
"PC Malcolm. Thanks for reminding me. I will get there right away. Make sure Miss Pawdry is safe."
"Roger that, Sergeant!"
Rose left for the Police Station to get her Police Helicopter to help Tom and Krystyna with their urgent delivery run. The emergency services were now in a rush to save Christmas. With the help of Phoenix, Lizzie, and Air Support, Elvis and Arnold were able to round up the reindeer while Sam and Penny helped Santa with his sleigh. Malcolm was on patrol with Miss Pawdry while Rose helped the Air Rescue Team with the delivery of all the presents to everyone in Pontypandy. Along the way, Santa managed to pick up some Mince Pies for a snack during his Christmas Deliveries. Out in the snow on the coast road, Sam and Penny finished repairing Santa's sleigh with the elves. "How's it going, Penny?" Sam asked.
"Seems to me like the elves and I managed to test its lights and strength. It's good as new, Sam."
"Ok, Penny. We have 9 Reindeer ready to go. Where's Santa?" One of the elves said.
"He went out with our Air Rescue team to finish the deliveries across Pontypandy. He'll be back soon."
"Special Delivery! Santa Claus has come to Town!" Tom radioed.
"Just in time, Tom. The sleigh is ready." Penny radioed back.
"Hang on, Penny."
Everyone from the Emergency Services of Pontypandy arrived at the sight of Santa's sleigh while Tom, Krystyna, and Rose landed nearby. They all stood alongside the vehicles with Malcolm holding Miss Pawdry in his arms before Miss Pawdry went right to Penny. "Santa! Thank goodness. We repaired the damaged Sleigh and it is good as new. All Gifts, Candy Canes, Lumps of Coal, and Reindeer are accounted for. How did the Deliveries go?" His elves asked.
"Ho ho ho! I must say it went smoothly. Thanks to my helpful friends from the Pontypandy Air Rescue Team."
"Hear! Hear!" Tom said in response.
"Santa. We're grateful to assist you in any way we can. On behalf of the Pontypandy Emergency Services, we would like to wish you safe travels, happy holidays, and a very safe and Merry Christmas." Steele said.
"Station Officer Steele. It's been a pleasure. I best get back to work delivering presents to all the children across the world."
The firefighters, Police Officers, Air Rescue Personnel, Coast Guard Staff, and Jodie with Lizzie alongside all watched as Santa Claus went to his Sleigh and grabbed hold of the reigns before the sleigh was up in the air. They all saluted him and he returned the salute as a thank you before they heard him call his reindeer by name. "Now, Dasher! Now, Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! On, Cupid! On, Donner! On, Blitzen! To the top of the Porch! To the top of the wall! Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away, all! Happy Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight!" He shouted.
The rescue team was delighted that Christmas was saved before they headed back to the Fire Station, Ocean Rescue Centre, the Airport, and the Police Station before they all settled down for a long winter's nap. Penny slept peacefully hoping that Christmas Day would come soon.
