Miraculous Pokémon: Scarlet/Violet
Season 1 Episode 9: Dark Cupid
[In honor of Valentine's Day, I thought I would do my best to release this chapter ASAP. Enjoy!]
We start off in Miss Bustier's class at theNaranja/Uva Academy as she is teaching Literature to her class with her Pokémon, Sylveon, at her side."In most fairy tales, the prince breaks the spell by kissing the princess. Can anyone tell us why?"
Rose stands up and answers with swoon in her voice,"Because only love can conquer hate!" As she said that, her Tepig lights up an Ember through her nose in the shape of a heart.
"Correct, Rose." Miss Bustier says with a smile and Sylveon forms a heart with her hair ribbons.
Max interrupted the teacher to say,"Technically speaking, this reasoning is only exhibited in about 87% of all fairy tales and-"
"Thank you, Max. That's enough." Miss Bustier said stopping him. As the class continues, Marinette is looking over Adrien's shoulders as he writes a letter. Miss Bustier looks over and says to her student, "Adrien, I hope what you're writing has to do with my lesson." Marinette gasps as Miss Bustier approaches Adrien to ask,"Can you tell me what I just said?"
Adrien responded quickly, "That's why in most fairy tales, the prince breaks the spell by kissing the princess because only love conquers hate."
Miss Bustier smiled as she said to her student,"Very good, Adrien!" The bell rings and everyone starts to exit as she tells them, "Now, everyone, don't forget to finish'The Story of Jan and Aila' tonight, and happy Valentine's day, students!" [For those that don't know, it's from the special, "The Legend of X, Y, and Z"]
As Alya packs up her bag, Marinette slides over and says to her,"Hey, go ahead, I'll meet you outside." Alya nods in acknowledgement as Marinette continues to look over Adrien's shoulder. He continues to write his letter before he crumples it up stands up and tosses the letter in the garbage can. Marinette grins as she sneaks over to the garbage can, while Piplup sighs with disbelief.
Before he can leave, Chloé stands in the doorway with Sabrina, Quaxly and Chespin and says to him, "Hi Adrien, sign here please." Sabrina then unrolls part of a poster and Chloé points to a spot with a pen.
Adrien sighs as he tells her,"Oh, come on, you know I hate signing autographs, Chloé."
"Oh, that's not what this is." Chloé responded (clearly lying),"This is a petition against cruelty to 'Pikachu Clones'. Have you heard the disrespect they get? It's appalling. Even Sprigatito can sign too." Adrien shrugs and begrudgingly signs the poster as Sprigatito pressed on of his paws too, leaving a print. After he and his Pokémon walk away, Chloé grabs hugs the poster as Sabrina smiles and their Pokémon high-five each other. However, they then notice Marinette who is digging through the trash can. She pulls out a sheet of paper as she hears Chloé mockingly say aloud,"Well well, Marinette, looking for something to eat for you and your weak penguin?" Afraid, Marinette hurriedly turned around holding the note behind her back.
"Maybe they're looking for some better clothes!" Sabrina mocked, causing the two and their Pokémon to laugh before running off.
Once they're gone, Marinette and Piplup both angrily grunt. Tikkipops out of Marinette's bag and says to them, "Don't give them the time of day you two, they don't deserve it."
"You're right, Tikki."Marinette said to her kwami as she un-crumples the paper and begins to read it aloud, "'Your hair is dark as night, your pretty bluebell eyes, I wonder who you are beneath that strong disguise. Every day we see each other and I hope that you'll be mine, together our love could be so true, please, will you be my Valentine?'"
"Whoa, now that's a love poem." Tikki said with swoon as Piplup nods in agreement.
"Who could he be talking about?" Marinette pondered as she reread the poem, "'Hair as dark as night, bluebell eyes?'"
"Uh... you?" Tikki said with a sigh and Piplup gave her a look as if it was obvious.
Marinette laughs nervously as she replies, "Me? No way. There are plenty of girls at school with dark hair and blue eyes."
Tikki then added,"Yeah, but bluebell eyes..."
"What do you think he means by 'strong disguise'?" Marinetteasks.
Tikki sighs and says to her,"This is poetry. He means who you are deep down inside. He wants to get to know you Marinette! He's talking about you!"
Marinette laughs and jumps up and down excitedly as she says, "Pinch me!" Piplup then reaches over and pinches her with her flippers as Marinette continues to laugh until she shrieks."Not literally!" Marinette said as she rubs her arm with Tikki and Piplup giggling.
Outside of Naranja/Uva Academy, Marinette and Alya are exiting the school with their Pokémon as still swoons over the letter she's holding. Suddenly, Max can be standing on the sidewalk with Kim as he says to him,"Operation Valentine's Day is commencing. According to my extensive research and cross-referencing of online shopping sites, this particular jewel,"he then reveals a heart box hiding behind his back as he continues to say,"was ranked highest in popularity."He then hands the box to Kim.
Kim opens the box and smiles as he says,"That's perfect, Max! I better hit a home run with this one. Love is like baseball, right? You gotta have a strategy or you'll strike out."Alya spots Max and Kim's conversation and gets excited. She grabs Marinette and drags her over to the boys as Kim continues to say,"But if you aim right, you'll hit it out of the ball park. Score!"
Max then replied to him,"Oh yes Kim, lovely metaphor."
"Meta-who?" Kim asked with confusion.
Alya grabs Kim's hands and looks at the jewel as she asks,"Ooh! Sparkly! Is that for moi?"
Annoyed, Max responds by saying,"Negative Alya. The recipient of this gem has already been determined, it's—"
Kim grabs Max and cuts him off before he can finish,"Shh! Keep it on the down-low!"
"Scoop! Kim's got a major crush!"Alya said with excitement as she takes picture with phone."Who's the lucky lady?"
Marinette pushes Alya's arm down and says to him,"It's gorgeous Kim. She's gonna be ecstatic!"Alya smiles in agreement.
Kim rubs back of head uncomfortably as he says, "Technically, she's still gotta accept it."He then grabs Max out of nervousness and asks in a panic, "What if she says 'no'!?"
Alya looks around worriedly as Marinette says with a motivational tone, "She won't Kim, no way!"She pumps her fist up as she continues to say,"Don't hold back, Kim. Go for it, no regrets!" Piplup, Fennekin and Pikachu pump their fists too in agreement. [I'll be honest, after watching the "Derision" episode (I'm not spoiling anything, go watch it), I was surprised Marinette wanted to help]
"Operation Valentine's Day is underway!" A motivatedKim says as he high-five's Max.
As Kim jogging in place, holding a map, Max explains to him,"Her route is highlighted here in yellow, yours in red. If you run at ten miles per hour you're going to gain a four and a half minute advance on her. Halt and wait here at the fountain by the southern entrance, facing northeast - the third most romantic spot in Mesagoza."Marinette and Alya thumbs up behind Max as he continues to say,"Go go go!"
"Thanks you guys."Kim said as he runs off.
[It's getting complicated including everyone's Pokémon partners into scenes, that's why Mudkip and Froakie aren't here.]
Alya elbows Marinette as she says to her,"Another case of someone who's good at dishing out advice but can't take some herself." Alya then points to Adrien who enters the car.
"Let's go." Adrien said with disappointment as his bodyguard closes the car door and drives away.
After Max walks away, Marinette says to her friend,"You're right. It's time I told him."
"Say what?!" Alya says with surprise. Even their Pokémon were caught off-guard.
"I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna tell Adrien my true feelings." Marinette said which left Alya looking shocked, but she then said,"Well... I'm gonna write them on a card, that is."
Alya then laughs as she says,"Yeah!"
"Yeah!" Marinette says back. All three of the Pokémon essentially say it too in agreement.
They all fist bump as Alya & Marinette say in unison,"Operation Valentine's Day!"They perform a handshake and they all run off.
Meanwhile on the other side of the academy; Aurore,Mireilleand various other girls are ogling over a poster of Adrien. "He's so cute!" One of the girls said with swoon.
Chloé walks up with Quaxly at her side and announces,"Keep dreaming all you want girls but the boy is mine." Sabrina nods as she and Chespin unroll the poster, and all of the girls gasp.
Aurore reads aloud,"'To Chloé, the most awesome girl in the world and the love of my life. Signed, Adrien.' With Sprigatito's paw print too?!"
As all the girls begin to cry, Chloé looks at one girl who tries not to burst out crying and says, "Uh, she's not crying enough." Sabrina and Chespin bring the poster towards the one girl who is crying silently, causing her to cry even more as Chloé, Sabrina and their Pokémon laugh.
In Marinette's room, she tries to write a love letter to Adrien and says aloud,"Dear Adrien, dear Adrien... Dear Adrien..."She sighs as she says to her kwami and Pokémon,"I'm no good at this love letter writing thing... I sound like a total dorkasaurus!"
"Only when you say words like 'dorkasaurus'!" Tikkisays to her. Marinette then turns her chair around in frustration as Tikki continues to say,"Relax, Marinette, I'm teasing. Think of Adrien and speak from the heart."
Marinette smiles at what Tikki said when suddenly she feels a tug on her pant leg. She looks down and sees Piplup hand her the letter she grabbed earlier. She gasps as she says with excitement,"Adrien's letter! That's it! Why didn't I think of that before? I'll answer his poem! Thank you Piplup!" Piplup then stands proudly at her trainer's praise.
"Marinette!" Alya is heard calling out from downstairs. Marinette gasps as Tikki flies off to hide. "Check it out!" Alya says as enters the room, with a pink heart-shaped card.
With a smile on her face, Marinette says to her,"It's perfect! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Marinette begins to writes the love letter, with Alya and all of the Pokémon watching. "Voila!"
"Don't forget to sign it!" Alya says to her. Suddenly, they hear a group of Ledybas and Ledians fly past Marinette's window, distracting her. Alya then says to her."This is a good omen! Ledians are good luck, especially in the love department!"
"Really?" Marinette asked.
Alya replied to her,"Yeah you of all people should know about Ledians."
"R-really? Wh-why do you say that?" Marinette asked as she and Piplup get nervous.
Alya pulled out her phone and said to her friend,"According to some, the sparkling dust from their wings is said to bring good luck to whomever it touches. It's from the Alolan Pokédex entry that I posted on my blog this week. You read it didn't you?"
"Oh yeah, yeah, of course."Marinette said as she turns back towards her computer and she and Piplup sigh with relief.
Meanwhile, at the Agreste mansion,Adrien is in his room with Plagg and Sprigatito as he sits at his computer trying to figure out how to express feelings to Ladybug. Plagg then floats up and says to him,"So she's got eyes, arms, legs, big deal! How can you possibly be in love with Ladybug? You don't even know who she really is!"
Adrien sighs and replies to him,"You don't know anything about love..."
Plagg flies next to him to say, "Oh sure I do, I love Cheddar, I love Swiss and I love Camembert." Adrien stands up causing his chair to spin as he heads for the window resting his arm and head against it in distress. Plagg then mockingly says to him,"Aww, the poor boy's frustrated because he can't finish the poem for his masked sweetheart?" Sprigatito tries swatting at the kwami for mocking his trainer but Plagg flies to avoid it.
Adrien says with swoon as he looks out the window, "I don't need a poem when I can tell her to her face... I love you."
"Bleh, gross." Plagg said with disgust,"You're making me lose my ." Disliking the smell of the cheese, Sprigatito pats his paws on the bed and releases a pleasant aroma. Annoyed at the attempt to ruin his cheese, Plagg says to the Pokémon, "Hey, it's not my fault YOU can't enjoy the greater things in life." Plagg still proceeds to eat his Camembert.
In the southern part of Mesagoza, Kim is waiting by the fountain until he recognizes Chloé's voice and rushes forward. Chloé can be heard saying on the phone as Quaxly walks with her,"And that's right, in a 24 karat gold frame. Deliver it to Le Grand Mesagoza Hotel and bill it to Daddykins, uh, I mean, Mr. Bourgeois."The two then stop after noticing Kim and she asks,"What are you doing here?"
"I-I..." Kim nervously tried to say.
"You-You..." Chloé said mocking him.
Kim clears throat and kneels down in a puddle of water as he tries to ask,"Will you be my Valentine?"He presents the brooch to Chloé when a flock of Rookidees land in the fountain splash water in Kim's face, and a chip bag blowing in the wind sticks to him.
Chloé gaspsand says to him, "Don't move!" Chloé takes a humiliating photo of Kim then hits the send button. Chloéthen says to him, "Wait till everyone gets a load of this! Hahahaha! No offense, Kim, but my heart's saved for someone more awesome than you." Chloé and Quaxly begin to walk off before she turns back to say, "Don't you just hate how harsh love can be?" The two leave laughing as Kim drops the brooch box, pulls the chip bag off his face and begins to sob.
The window of Hawk Moth's lair opens, the light shines on Hawk Moth as he says aloud, "Ah, Valentine's Day, the day of love and the day of fools. So many delusions, so much disappointment. My evil akumas, you are going to have such a field day."A butterfly flies into the palm of his hand as he begins to swirl his other hand around, which collects glowing purple dust and moves it over the butterfly. With his hands pressed together over the butterfly, the glowing dust infuses the butterfly as it turns into anakuma."Fly away my little akuma, and evilize him!" The akuma flies out the window and into the city.
As a broken-hearted Kim continues to sob by the fountain, the akuma enters into thebrooch. A light mask forms on his face as Hawk Moth's voice can be heard saying,"Dark Cupid, I am Hawk Moth. I can give you the power to induce your dark emotions onto others, thanks to the Mega power of the Disaster Pokémon, Absol. Your arrows will pierce love and impale friendships, leaving nothing but darkness in your path. But there is something you must do for me in return."
"No love affair or friendship will escape my fury. No one will ever love again!" Kim said as he is transformed into Dark Cupid by the akuma.
Dark Cupid's suit resembles a Mega Absol with a primarily white color scheme with dark blue accents. He has sharp claws on his hands and feet with fur on his forearms and calves, each with a dark blue spike on the elbows and back of his legs. His wings are a result of fur that connects from a patch on the front of his suit with the brooch on a strap. His bow is shaped after mega Absol's saw-like tail. His mask has Absol's sickle shaped horn with a smaller horn on the other side. [Again, I'm terrible with descriptions so my bad if it doesn't sound good.]
Dark Cupid flies up and above the city, he starts to pull out an arrow as a light purple and pink fireball with a white core forms around tip. [Will-O-Wisp] He then fires his arrow at civilians, and each victim he hits has their lips turn black and their eyes become fiery red.
A female civilian winces, while her purple lipstick becomes black. Her eyes glow red as she throws the heart-shaped cake she's holding into the laughs as she taunts her lover and runs away.
A male civilian was also shot with an arrow and begins to angrily smash the bouquet of flowers he was carrying into a wall."Ugh, stupid flowers!"
Dark Cupid then shoots at a couple holding hands as he shots the guy, he then pulls hand away from woman who he is with."Get off me!" He said as the woman remains shocked while he leaves. Dark Cupid laughs maniacally as he continues to shoot his arrows throughout the city.
"Hahaha! Perfect. It won't be long before Ladybug and Cat Noir show up to meet their doom!"Hawk Moth says in his lair as he evil laughs.
Back atTom & Sabine Boulangerie Patisserie, Marinette and Alya enter the bakery with their Pokémon laughing as Marinette's father, Tom, gives themheart-shaped candy apples and says to them, "Candy apples, girls?"
"Thanks, Papa." Marinette says as she takes the candy applesand kisses her father on the cheek before exiting the bakery with Alya.
After the two friends and their Pokémon make it outside, Alya says to her friend,"Come on, Marinette! Do it before you chicken out!" Marinette is a little scared at first, but finally, she puts the love letter in the mailbox. And they cheer with their Pokémon.
"I did it!" Marinette said with excitement as she and Alya hug each other. Piplup, Fennekin and Pikachu hug too in joy.
Suddenly their phones ring, and they look to see that Chloé texted them. "Chloé? Since when didshestart texting us?" Alya asked as Marinette shrugged in confusion. They open the chat, and see a picture of Kim. Both of them gasp as Alya angrily says,"What a witch!"
"And I was the one who told Kim to do it!" Marinette said feeling responsible, "I didn't know he was talking about her!"
Alya then says (without thinking),"Dang, I hope Adrien doesn't do the same thing to you. I mean..."
Upon hearing this, Marinette panics and says "What have I done!?", as she tries to get the love letter out of the mailbox.
Alya and the others pull her off of the mailbox as she says to her,"Girl, calm down! I was totally joking! Kind of... Adrien would never do that."Suddenly, she sees Dark Cupid in the sky and asks,"What in the world is that?!"She then points to the villain.
As Dark Cupid flies, he sees the candy apples Alya is holding and gets upset."All hearts must be destroyed!"He shoots multiple arrows at the love apples, and they end up hitting Alya and her Pokémon, making their lips black and their eyes red.
"Alya?" Marinette asked as she walked over to check on her, only for Alya sticks the candy apples on Marinette's shirt. "Hey, seriously?!" Marinette said with annoyance.
Alya said to her with an evil tone of voice,"You're not my BFF, you're a joke! Adrien's gonna laugh his head off at your lame attempt at poetry! Fennekin, Ember! Pikachu, Discharge!"The two Pokémon unleash their attacks as Marinette grabs Piplup and lunges out of the way. Alya and her Pokémon cackle before running away.
"Alya!"Marinette said concerned as her friend ran off. She then looks at Dark Cupid says to Piplup,"What did he do to her?"She looks at Dark Cupid's brooch makes the realization,"I've seen that jewel someplace before. It's Kim's pin! He's been akumatized!"Tikki flies out as Piplup helps Marinette pull the candy apples off of her shirt."This is... not... good! We gotta find him, fast!"But she turns and notices Piplup trying to eat the candy apple. Marinette gives a look of disappoint only for Piplup to have a sad face and her stomach growls, she then says to her Pokémon, "Don't worry Piplup, you'll get some food, after we save Kim! Return!" Piplup then return to her Pokéball as Marinette runs to behind a bench and begins her Transformation Sequence. "Tikki, spots on! Ha!"Marinette then fully transforms into Ladybug.
As Ladybug goes jumping from rooftop to rooftop, she spots Dark Cupid flying overhead and follows him.
Outside ofLe Grand Mesagoza, Chloé is with Sabrina and their Pokémon as she is complaining to the deliverers of Adrien's portrait, "Ugh! I never said 18-karat gold! Those gold tones will never match my 24-karat toilet! Idiots!" Dark Cupid spots Chloé and prepares to shoot an arrow at her, but Ladybug hits him with an Air Slash, making him miss and hit the van which causes Chloé and the others to gasp.
Dark Cupid turned and noticed the hero on the other roof. "Ladybug!" He said with anger.
Ladybug says to the villain,"Stop, Kim!"
"I'm not Kim, I'm Dark Cupid!" Dark Cupid angrily responded."I'll never stop! If I can't have love, then no one can!" As they talk, the delivery drivers flee the area quickly in their van. Meanwhile, Chloé tries to save her Adrien poster but Sabrina, Quaxly and Chespin drag her back into the hotel.
Ladybug replied to him, trying to be sympathetic,"Okay, Dark Cupid, I get it. Chloé totally burned you. But that doesn't mean you have to take it out on all of Mesagoza!"
Dark Cupid then says to her,"Oh yes, I do! And I won't stop until everyone's heart is crushed. Say adios to your loved ones. From now on, you'll hate them!" Dark Cupid draws another arrow, only this time his eyes glow yellow and the tip creates a purple wisp of energy [Hex]. He shoots his arrows at Ladybug, but she uses Swift to counter the attack. She then uses Agility to dodge the other fired arrows quickly. Unfortunately, as she is dodging, she soon slips and falls down a roof, but she catches herself on a roof gutter with her yo-yo.
Dark Cupid prepares to fire another arrow, but he loses sight of Ladybug. The light mask forms on his face as Hawk Moth tell him,"If you want to continue destroying love, bring me Ladybug'sMiraculous, or I'll remove your powers!" He flies overhead to look for her, just barely seeing her hanging as Ladybug sighs in relief.
As Ladybug catches her breathe, she hears Cat Noir who is standing on his staff attached to the building as he say to her,"Falling for me already, my lady?"Ladybug smiles as he pulls her down next to him and says,"I need to talk to you."
Ladybug tries to tell him,"It's gotta wait. Dark Cupi-"
Cat Noir hushes her as he says to her,"I swore to myself that I'd tell you as soon as I saw you. Ladybug, I-I... Look out!" Cat Noir gets interrupted by seeing Dark Cupid fire at then and spins around to shield Ladybug, but he gets struck by one of Dark Cupid's arrows.
Ladybug gasps as she exclaims,"Cat Noir!"
"Ladybug, I—I...loathe you!" Cat Noir angrily said with his lips turned black and fiery red eyes.
"Cat Noir, snap out of it!" Ladybug said with panic.
Cat Noir squeezes Ladybug incredibly close to him as he tells her,"You're nothing Ladybug, and nothing to me!I hate you!" Ladybug stomps on Cat Noir's foot which makes him feel pain, she uses hisstaffto launch herself into the air before grappling her yo-yo onto a street lamp.
She swings around the street lamp and rolling into Le Grand Mesagoza. When she catches herself, she sees Chloé, Sabrina and their Pokémon hiding behind a table as Chloé says to the hero,"Ladybug, it's about time, where have you been?"
Outside, Cat Noir is still holding on to his staff before he retracts his staff then he puts his staff on his back and he climbs up the wall where he meets face to face with Dark Cupid on the roof. Hawk Moth says to Dark Cupid through the light mask,"Offer to help him in return for Ladybug's Miraculous."
"I can help you crush Ladybug, but you must give me her Miraculous in return."Dark Cupid says as heholds his hand out to Cat Noir.
"No...problem."Cat Noir said as he cackles and holds his hand out to the villain to shake in agreement.
In his lair, Hawk Moth says aloud,"Yes. Yes! And once I have Ladybug's Miraculous, taking Cat Noir's will be child's play!"
Back at Le Grand Mesagoza Hotel, Ladybug says to Chloé and Sabrina,"You gotta get out of here. Your friend Kim's turned into Dark Cupid and I don't know what he'll do if he finds you here."
"Moi? Chloé asked with a snobby attitude, "But how could he possibly have a vendetta against me?"
"Who doesn't?" Ladybug muttered under her breath.
"Duh! It's because of this. Everyone would love to get their hands on it."Chloé said pointing to the poster of Adrien outside. "That's Adrien, a super-hot guy in my class. And rich, too! He's hot for me of course."
"Not according to the poem." Ladybug once again muttered under her breath.
"It's alive!" Sabrina screamed in panic as she's pointing at the poster.
The poster begins to seemingly walk into the Hotel, only for Dark Cupid to emerge from behind it. He fires his arrows at Ladybug, Sabrina and Chloé but Ladybug deflects them with her yo-yo. She then grabs Chloé and Quaxly with her yo-yo and drags them onto the street as Chloé cries out,"Daddy!"
"Run, Chloé, run!" Ladybug calls out asChloé and Quaxly begin to run, followed by Sabrina and Chespin.
Cat Noir drops down from above and stands in front of Ladybug and says to her, "Well, well, Ladybug." Dark Cupid continues after Chloé as they talk.
"I don't want to fight you, Cat Noir." Ladybug said hoping to reach through to her partner.
With disgust in his voice, Cat Noir says to her,"Ugh, that friendliness. It's so revolting. You are definitely not my friend! Shadow Claw!" Cat Noir lunges towards her to attack only to be hit by an Air Slash attack that knocks him against a fence. In shock, they look over and see the shiny Absol on the roof of the building.
"Absol?" Ladybug asked as Absol jumped down to the street.
Cat Noir growled as he got back up and said with annoyance, "Ugh, you again?! You always know just how to be in someone's way, don't you? Iron Tail!" Cat Noir's belt began to glow metallic silver as he swung it turns Absol. Absol's horn glows white as he counters the attack with Night Slash. As the two attacks collide, Absol's attack appears to be more powerful and sends Cat Noir flying back.
With Cat Noir down for now, Ladybug goes over and says to Absol, "Thank you, Absol." The two looked at each other as if they had an understanding; this made Ladybug think, "Wait, do you…" But before she can finish asking, Cat Noir gets back up and prepares to fight again. Ladybug then turns to Absol and says "I can handle Cat Noir, do you think you can hold off Dark Cupid in the meantime?" Absol nodded in agreement before running off after the villain. She then spins her yo-yo fast, creating red sound waves (Bug Buzz) but Cat Noir counters by swinging his staff. Cat Noir then counters with Shadow Claw but Ladybug uses Agility to dodge it and jumps up onto the roof to run away, but Cat Noir pursues her. After jumping over several rooftops, Ladybug uses her yo-yo to grab Cat Noir's staff and pulls him towards her. "Why are you so full of hate, Cat Noir?!" Ladybug asked while in a tug-o-war.
Cat Noir responded,"Because hate conquers all!"
Ladybug retorted by saying,"I hate to burst your bubble, but hate doesn't conquer all. Love does!"
As she said that, she remembers what Miss Bustier and Rose said earlier about love.
"The prince breaks the spell by kissing the princess." Miss Bustiersays in flashback.
"Only love can conquer hate!" Rosesays in flashback.
Seeing her stare off, Cat Noir says to her,"You're just buying time!" He splits his staff in half as he continues to say, "Even Absol put up more of a fight than you!"
Ladybug retracted her yo-yo as she said to him,"I'll do better than that." She began to casually walk over to Cat Noir, leaving him confused as he backs away. "Come on, kitty kitty, just a peck..." She said as she tries to kiss him, but he jumps out of the way."Almost!" she said as she chases after him.
"Get back, you savage!"Cat Noir yells out as he begins running away from her.
"Here, kitty kitty kitty! Come here!"Ladybug called out as sheruns after Cat Noir over the rooftops.
Meanwhile, Chloé and Quaxly are running down the street away from Dark Cupid as he laughs and says, "You can't outrun me, Chloé!"
While they are trying to escape, they turn around a corner and trip over a flower stand. They look up and see several civilians look at them as Chloé says,"Help!" But the civilians see Dark Cupid and run away screaming. Chloé and Quaxly get up and see him too.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Chloé." Dark Cupidsaid pointing his drawn bow at her and her Pokémon. "Now you'll get what you deserve."
"Our hair!" Chloé cried out,"There is nothing worse in this world than a bad hair day! First, Ladybug wrinkles my new jacket, second, you totally ruined mine and Quaxly's hair! Just go ahead and just change us already! This day can't get any worse..." Both she and Quaxly dramatically give up, ready to be shot. [Quaxly is a Pokémon that takes great pride in keeping its hair nice, this scene is one of the main reasons I thought Quaxly was perfect for Chloé]
Dark Cupid looks at them and says"I don't need to waste this arrow on you two. Your hearts are so dark and shriveled, there's no room for love."He placed the arrow back in its quiver as he laughs and flies away.
"Ugh! How dare you talk to me like that?"Chloé angrily said and she and Quaxly chase after him but they bump into Sabrina and Chespin."Huh? Why are you just standing there? Help me up!"
It's revealed that Sabrina and Chespin's lips have also turned into black. "Ha! You think I'd help someone as stuck up as you?"Sabrina says as shetakes an embarrassing picture of Chloé with her cellphone."Wait till everyone gets a load of this!"Both she and Chespin cackle before running away, leaving Chloé and Quaxly moaning in defeat.
Dark Cupid laughs at the situation until he gets attacked by a Night Slash by Absol. As Absol lands on the ground after the attack, Dark Cupid growl with frustration as the light mask forms on his face. "I recognize that Absol. Take care of that meddlesome Pokémon immediately! And bring me the Miraculous!" Hawk Moth says to the villain.
"With pleasure!" Dark Cupid said as his bow glows with black and red energy before he dives towards Absol and swings the bow at him (Brutal Swing). Absol tries to counter with Night Slash but gets pushes back. In a taunting voice, Dark Cupid says to the Pokémon, "Ahh, what's the matter? Can't handle the power of YOUR Mega form?"
With determination in his eyes, Absol summons multiple light-yellow swords that spin around him before stopping, crossing blades, and disappearing. A red aura bursts from the ground underneath him before a lighter-colored red aura goes upwards along his body, boosting Absol's attack power (Swords Dance). An unimpressed Dark Cupid fires a barrage of arrows towards Absol, but he counters with a more powerful Air Slash that cuts through all of the arrows and hits Dark Cupid causing him to fall to the ground. Flustered, Dark Cupid gets back on his feet and prepares another Brutal Swing and Absol once again counters with Night Slash. Only this time, the attacks are more evenly matched as the shockwave from the colliding attacks sends them both flying back.
Getting fed up, Dark Cupid point his bow to the sky and angrily says, "Try blocking this, doggy!" He shoots a large barrage of arrows that rain down on Absol. He struggles to dodge each one, leaving Dark Cupid pleased before flying off.
Meanwhile, Cat Noir is still being chased by Ladybug until finally she catches up to him. Ladybug swings her yo-yo as it ties Cat Noir's leg, causing him to get caught midair. He drops his staff as he gets pulled back and the yo-yo wraps around tying him to a lamppost. She suspends herself from the top of the lamppost and she is leaning closer to Cat Noir so she can kiss him while she is hanging upside down, much to Cat Noir resistance,"No, no!"
"Don't worry, I'm not looking forward to it either."Ladybug said unenthusiasticallyas she tries to kiss him again but he keeps dodging, so she holds his nose to prevent him from dodging a kiss from her."I can't believe I'm doing this." She said as she tries to kiss him again while Cat Noir whimpers, but an arrow gets shot between them by Dark Cupid. But as he shoots more arrows at Ladybug, she dodges them which loosens her yo-yo and freeing Cat Noir. He picks up his staff and puts it on the back of his suit as he joins Dark Cupid while Ladybug hides behind a tree.
"How you gonna fight both of us now, bug eyes?"Cat Noir asks as he and Dark Cupid fist bump each other. "Cataclysm!" Cat Noir called out, activating his Superpower."I've often wondered what would happen if I use my Cataclysm on someone." But before he can do anything, both of them are hit by Absol's Air Slash.
With a smile on her face, Ladybug says, "Great timing, Absol. Looks like a more fair fight now! Lucky Charm!" Ladybug activates her Superpowerand acandy appleappears. "A candy apple? What am I supposed to do with this?" Ladybug asks but Absol just shrugs before she says to herself, "Think, Ladybug..."As she looks around, she spots the fountain,Cat Noir's ringand Dark Cupid's brooch. With a plan, Ladybug says to the Pokémon, "Follow my lead Absol." She then swings her yo-yo as she says to the two,"Hey! I've got a Valentine's gift for you!"
Cat Noir and Dark Cupid go to attack Ladybug and Absol together. Dark Cupid shoots arrows at her and she deflects them with her yo-yo as Absol fires back with Air Slashes (Psycho Cut won't work on either of them). Cat Noir is about to use his Cataclysm on her but she avoids it and Absol lunges out of the way. Ladybug then grabs him by his belt, then she jumps on him and throws the candy apple to Absol as she calls out, "Absol, throw it!" The Pokémon grabs the candy apple with his teeth as he runs towards Dark Cupid and throws it at his head but he removes it, causing the candy apple stuck on his hand now. "Looks like you've got yourself in a sticky situation!" Ladybug says to the villain as she and Absol land on their feet.
Dark Cupid removes the candy apple from his hand and tries to shoot an arrow at them but his hand gets stuck to the bow. "Ladybug!" Dark Cupid angrily yelled out.
"And now, for the pussy-cat!"Ladybug says as Cat Noir yells out before chasing after them. "Run Absol!" She called out as Cat Noir continues to chase her until he lands on top of her. Absol tries to intervene but he gets smacked away by an Iron Tail.
"Cat Noir, her Miraculous!"Dark Cupid said as he starts washing his hands at the fountain.
"With pleasure! Cat Noir responded to the villain before turning back towards her."Finally, I'll find out who you are, Ladybug! Your little secret will be out of the bag!"
Before Cat Noir can take off the earrings, she grabs his face and kisses him to break the spell. Absol just looks over at them confused. Cat Noir's lips and eyes return to normal as the arrow's effect disappears."Huh? Wh-what am I doing here?" Cat Noir asked in confusion.
Ladybug grabs his hand and carries him over her shoulder as she says to him "No time! The quiver pin, Cat Noir! Now!"She proceeds to throw Cat Noir, making him scream as he lands on top of Dark Cupid."Grab it! Grab the pin!" She called out as Cat Noir accidentally destroys the sash with Cataclysm.
"No!" Dark Cupid calls out in defeat.
"Sorry, need that. Happy Valentine's Day!" Cat Noir says as he takes the pin andthrows it to Ladybug.
Ladybug catches the pin and says, "Awww, you shouldn't have..."She tosses the pin in the air as she calls out, "Absol, use Psycho Cut!"Absol fires a powerful Psycho Cut that break the pin in half, as it falls to the ground, the akuma flies out of the pin."No more evil-doing for you, little akuma. Time to de-evilize!"She swings her yo-yo and captures the akuma."Gotcha! Bye bye, little butterfly." She says as releases the purified butterfly."Miraculous Ladybug!" Ladybug called out as she throws the Lucky charm in the air and restores everything back to normal.
Alya is about to have Fennekin burn a picture of her and Marinette when she and her Pokémon suddenly come to their senses and she asks,"What the heck are we doing?"
"What the heck are you doing?!" Chloé angrily asked Sabrina.
It turns out she and Chespin were scribbling on Adrien's portrait."I-I have no idea!"Sabrina said before they all sob in despair.
Kim transforms back to his normal self and is left confused.
"Pound it!" Ladybug and Cat Noir say as they fist bump.
Ladybug then turns to say, "Thanks for the help, Abso-" But Absol had already disappeared. Before she can question, her Miraculous beeps. "Oops!"
She tries to leave, but Cat Noir tries to stop her by saying"Wait, Ladybug! I gotta tell you something."
Ladybug then attempts to explain to him,"Look, the kiss... I had to break the spell, or..."
Hearing this made Cat Noir as he asked,"Kiss? What kiss? No, I just wanted to say..."But his Miraculous also beeps.
"Look out, Cat Noir, your ring is flashing!" Ladybug said trying to changing the subject.
Cat Noir responds,"Uhh... yours too!"
Ladybug laughs as she says to her partner,"We're about to turn into pumpkins, and personally, I'd rather not see that."Soon, both Ladybug and Cat Noir run away in opposite directions.
In his lair, Hawk Moth says with much anger, "Grrr... blasted Ladybug! Blasted Absol! Blasted Valentine's Day!" The window closes on his lair, leaving the room in darkness.
Back at the mailbox, the postman arrives and opens the mailbox, full of letters. Marinette and Piplup are watching behind a corner as Tikki looks up to say,"Hey, there's your chance to get your card back!"
Marinette then says to her kwami,"That was before..."
"Before what?" Tikki asked,"Tell me!"
Marinette says to her with a smile, "I realized that even with all this hate everywhere, love still wins. But if I wanna win over Adrien, he needs to know the truth about how I feel."
"Ah! Thisisa big day!" Tikki said with looked up to her trainer and smiled.
Marinette's happiness then turn to concern as she asked, "Tikki, that shiny Absol, do you think he knows I'm Ladybug?"
"Absols are mysterious Pokémon that very few people understand." Tikki says to her, "It could be possible that he saw something in you as both Ladybug and Marinette."
Marinette then pondered the downside of such a thing until she hears the sound of Piplup's stomach rumbling. Piplup rubbed her head awkwardly as Marinette chuckled before she picked up her Pokémon to say, "No mystery of what you want Piplup. Don't worry; my dad may still have some treats left." She said with a smile as she carried her Pokémon back to the bakery.
Meanwhile in Adrien's room, Plagg is talking to Adrien about Cat Noir being rude to Ladybug. "Hahaha! Can you believe all the horrible thoughtless things you said to Ladybug?"He then eats his Camembert.
"You think it's funny, huh? Ugh!" Adrien said as he collapsed onto his bed.
Plagg then says to him,"What's the big deal? You've got so many cards from all these lady fans of yours! Take your pick!"He digs through all of the cards until Sprigatito notices a heart-shaped one. He picks up the card with his mouth and hands it to Adrien while he is laying facing down on the bed and have his eyes closed.
Adrien sees the card and gets surprised upon reading it."Whoa, hold up! Someone answered my poem? But I threw it away!"He starts to read the poem aloud for his kwami and Pokémon to hear."'Your hair shines like the sun, your eyes are gorgeous green, I look at you and wonder your innermost thoughts and dreams. Yes, your Valentine I will be, our love will be so true, together for eternity, my heart belongs to you.'"
Both Adrien and Sprigatito gasp after reading it, but Plagg just shows disgust by saying,"Aww, well, anyone who writes as sickeningly sweet as you must be your soulmate."
"It isn't signed..."Adrien says with despair before he hears the same group of Ledybas and Ledians fly by his window. He goes to the window with Sprigatito in his hands and watches it fly away before asking,"Could it have come from Ladybug?"
Sprigatito shrugs but Plagg just says to him,"Oh, please."
In Marinette's room, as Piplup, Fennekin and Pikachu are enjoying Valentine's Day treats; Alya says to her friend,"What do you mean, you don't remember? Did you sign the card or not?"
"I don't know!" Marinette said as she struggles to remember,"The Ledians flew by while I was writing, then you were yapping about your blog, and then... It's all a blur!"
Alya laughs as she says to her,"I don't believe you! The girl didn't even sign it! I love you and all, but sometimes you seriously bug! You know that, right?" Both of them laugh as the Ledybas and Ledians fly outside the house. The swarm also flies past Absol as he observes the girls from an adjacent building before leaping away.
