Prompt: "If we're going to do this, we're going to need – "
"A plan?"
"No! Codenames! Cool ones!"
Ra wasn't quite sure what had gotten Jenkins so riled up with his phone call, but she had a feeling that she would probably find out all about it in a few minutes. And she was right, as Jenkins walked back into his "lab" with the rest of the team in tow. Colonel Baird looked unimpressed as she spoke. "Santa is not real."
This cause Ra to scoff, catching the attention of the newcomers. "Unfortunately, Colonel, you would be wrong. I mean, he isn't exactly like you've been led to believe, but he is real all the same."
"Precisely." The Researcher took over now. "The being often called Santa is an immortal avatar of good will. All year long, he travels around the world, witnessing, participating in acts of kindness and humanity, absorbing all of that good spirit. On Christmas Eve, he rises into the atmosphere and releases all of that good will back into the human race. Recharging our karmic batter, if you will."
The Archivist rolled her eyes before quickly jumping in. "In essence, without Santa doing this, the human race would run out of good will. Every city on the planet will be burning by Groundhog's Day."
Jones seemed to be following along. "So, that's why everyone's cranky around the holidays. Because we're running low on good will?"
Ra nodded as Jenkins spoke. "Precisely. Now when Mrs. Claus called…"
The volume at which Cassandra exclaimed, "Mrs. Claus is real?!" Caused Ra to wince.
It also seemed to exasperate the Researcher. "Oh, shiny balls, yes. When Gretchen called, she said the last time that he checked in, he was in a soup kitchen in London. I'll fire up the Back Door. You're all going."
"Oh!" Her exclamation caused everyone to turn towards Cassandra with questioning looks. "I just thought of something. If we're going to do this, we're going to need…"
When she didn't continue her thought, Ra rolled her eyes. "I don't know. A plan, perhaps?"
Ra just looked at the math genius like she had grown a second head. The only reason that she didn't give any form of retort was the fact that Jacob had subtly placed one of his hands in the small of her back, grounding her, so to speak. Ever since their conversation about their relationship, both Jacob an Ra had began to do little things for each other; one of those things was noticing when the other was at wit's end.
Just as she calmed slightly, Baird spoke up. "No codenames. Come on, guys. Let's go do this."
