The sun was beginning to breach the horizon.
Ruffnut and Tuffnut stared at the shield, confusion evident on their faces.
Ruffnut was the first to speak.
"Why is there a shield with Hiccup's initials here?"
Tuffnut remained silent, contemplating.
They both stood there unsure of what to do.
The birds that were chirping suddenly became quiet.
In the distance voices shouting began to echo around the forest.
Ruffnut looked at her brother, fear evident in her eyes.
Trembling slightly, Tuffnut grabbed her hand, a small smile forming on his face.
"Let's go sis. We'll be fine."
They both took a wobbly step forward, ducking under the shield.
It was breathtaking.
It was like the Gods had decided to shine upon the place, blessing it with seemingly eternal beauty.
They took a sharp breath, inhaling the fresh air around them.
The sun shone brightly through the trees.
Illuminating the pond in the center.
It was truly a sight to behold.
It was as if the world was frozen in place.
They both stood there for seemingly forever.
Frozen in place like the scenery around them.
They marveled at the sight.
It was peaceful and jarring how such a place could exist on an island like theirs, known for it's crappy seasons and unforgivable landscapes.
It felt, fake.
Like an illusion.
They could only stare at the glimmering pond in the middle, fish swimming around without a care in the world.
They stood hand in hand, silently thanking the Gods for the blessing.
It was as if their prayers had been answered.
A place to hide.
Unfortunately, it seemed as though fate had other plans.
Shouts could be heard.
Louder than before.
They were closer.
Ruffnut and Tuffnut were snapped out of their stupor.
The reality of their situation taking over their minds once again.
Survival.
They had to survive.
They had to live.
The world began to move again.
Tuffnut frantically scanning the Cove, desperate for a place to hide.
A cave.
There was a cave tucked in a corner in the far back of the Cove.
The shouts rang louder.
It was now or never.
Grasping his sister's hand, he took a shaky step forward.
This was it.
Their final chance.
It was now or never.
They ran and dove into the cave.
