Welcome back everyone, I hope that you'll enjoy this chapter here! Just reminding anyone who hasn't been here in a while that I'll still try to answer as many reviews as I can. I just ask that you try and keep them constructive.

I can't believe I went ahead with a Four-Way Duel this fast… I'll be honest, the Duel between Yugi, Kaiba, Joey and Marik was one of my favourite Duel's in the original series, and I wished we got more of that Battle Royal style. Doubt I'll make this one as exciting, but I think I'll find it fun to write.

In other news, University is on the horizon for me. I'll do my best to keep up with this story as I begin, but I know it's going to be hard as nails. I'll still try to keep up with the monthly to two monthly updates.

Guest - I won't spoil anything, but that is a pretty fun use of the Charmer cards.

Darkpheniox343 - I never really considered how that rule would apply in todays world. I just assumed that back in 2004, there wasn't much that could be done as cards were not as insanely powercrept. Infinite loops would be a huge wrench into the rule, especially if the turn player can choose when to end it.

Anyways, enough rambling from me, on with the story!

Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh, or it's spin-off anime's. I do however own the OC's of this story, as well as any custom cards. Do NOT steal them.

-Yu-Gi-Oh: Dimensions in Disarray-

Chapter 4: Four-Way Duel

"What do mean a Four-Way Duel?" I questioned, all four of us very surprised at this sudden turnaround.

The three KaibaCorp employees looked rather nervous at my question. "Well, listen. We need a change of pace so to speak for better results. We got tons of excellent results from your Duels there, but we need to change things up a little." One of the employees defended.

"By having a Four-Way Duel, the four of you can chose to each attack or defend the other! It makes for plenty of good experience as well a good opportunity to analyse the results that we get from watching you!" His friend backed him up, patting his ally on the shoulder.

"But why can't we just keep Dueling the way that we did previously? That seemed to work out alright." David wondered, with his arms crossed.

"Yeah, we've been going at a good pace here." Jay followed up, curious at the sudden change. "There'd be nothing wrong with keeping things going the way that have been."

The three employees grunted a little at the disproval of the idea. The third one that had been refereeing the Duels spoke up. "Listen! We haven't even explained how this Four-Way Duel would work! Why don't you at least listen to what we have to say?" He protested calmly. "This is the idea of this Duel: The last two Duelists standing will be the ones to make it forwards into the finale!"

That seemed to catch the attention of Calian, Jay and David. The employee continued to speak. "Think about it. It'd be a fun way for you to all Duel each other, and you'd get to the finale way faster than Dueling separately! There's so much that you can do with this style of Dueling…?" Even he seemed unsure of what he said was true or not.

"Listen, just think about it…!" He said in a hurry, as he turned back to speak to his two colleagues in a hushed voice.

'This trio have been getting more and more suspicious the longer that this little project of theirs has been going on. They were quite confident at first, but as time has passed, they've seemed to all be getting more and more anxious…'

'…! Are they trying to end this faster? They aren't outright abandoning this experiment of theirs, so they still need more results. But for what purpose exactly…? Why do they care so much about getting data from the Duel Disk…?'

'Could they…' My mind did come to one conclusion. 'Hmm, it is a stretch though. It's definitely possible, but the odds of it happening are low, especially since this is KaibaCorp. Surely, they'd have better security?'

'And what does everyone else think about this?' I thought, my eyes trailing off to see what the others thought about this development. From what I saw, David and Jay looked interested. Those two boys were sitting next to each other and were talking to each other about this carefully. 'I wonder what Calian thinks of-'

"Psst, hey Eric?" Calian whispered, as he leaned in close to my ear.

"Jeez man, you nearly scared me there." I said with small surprise. "Was just thinking about you actually. What do you think about this whole-"

"Hey listen!" He cut me off, still whispering. "I think that it's best if we go ahead with this idea."

"Why so?"

"Look, I kinda want to Duel you in the finale here." He confessed lowly. "And I think that a Four-Way Duel would be the best way to get to the finale faster. There's just one issue that I think we may run into…"

"And that is?" I whisper.

"It's David and Jay!" Calian hissed carefully. "I know those two, cause they go to Domino High School! They're in the year above me, but I've never ever spoken to them before. I doubt they recognise me, with how we barley see each other. Um, anyway! The point is, those two guys are best friends, so they'll probably end up teaming up in this Four-Way Duel!"

"Ah… So you want us to work together in this little scuffle so that we end up winning? I see…" This was… an interesting idea. Teamwork would be nice for this Four-Way Duel, but if we did end up winning, and me and Calian Duelled in the finale.

'Then Calian may end up being selected for Battle City…' I thought with seriousness.

'If it were a friendly happy tournament, this'd be fine. But this is Battle City. All sorts of evil stuff goes down in this tournament. Should Calian be heading in there? I mean, he seems like a good Duelist, but this is Battle City we're talking about. Who knows what might happen to him…' I thought about this as carefully as I could. 'He is just a kid after all.'

'If he does get selected today… Well, there's still plenty of time before Battle City begins. I can surely try to spend some more time trying to try and improve Calian's Dueling before then. I mean, he didn't know how Counters worked, but that's an easy fix.' I thought.

Besides. If I HAD to chose someone to go to Battle City. I'd rather it be someone who I know personally.

"Sure." I said simply. I then made sure to whisper again. "I mean, sure, let's do it! But we need to try and make sure that we aren't completely tag-teaming them. We could try and lead them into a false sense of security." I suggested. "Play our turns as usual, then bam! Get them while they're distracted."

Calian grinned. "Yeah! That's a good idea! We'll go ahead with this idea and take down Jay and David, and make it to the finale together!"

I nodded my head, as we both increased the distance between ourselves. I was able to see that David and Jay had also been whispering to each other, and they too had finished speaking. Now one of the employees spoke up.

"Well? Have you had a think about it?" He asked, a tint of pleading in his voice. "It's an excellent way for you all to-"

"I'm game." David nodded.

"Same here." Jay added. "What about you two?"

Me and Calian looked to each other. "We agree!" The both of us nodded in unison.

"That's great! – I mean, please come and collect a Duel Disk. You already have one Mr Field, so please make your way to the centre of the stadium." The referee said, as he and his colleagues held out the three other Duel Disk for us to use.

Me, David and Jay walked over to the men and each collected a Duel Disk, equipping it and slotting in our decks. We all then walked over close to where Calian was waiting for us. Now we all stood with each of us facing one another at a decent distance apart from each other.

"Allow me to explain the rules of the Four-Way Duel!" The employee, who had now decided to referee this Duel walked forwards. "In this special Duel, you will not be able to attack any player on your first turn. You must wait until every Duelist has made their first move." He explained carefully.

"Now to decide the turn rotation: Please select a monster card that you have on you, and present it for everyone to see. The Duelist who has the monster with the highest ATK will make the first move. After that, the Duelist who presented the monster with the second highest ATK will go second, and so on and so forth. However, the monster that you present cannot be used in this Duel." The referee continued.

'Those are the same rules that followed the Four-Way Duel in Battle City!' I realised, thinking quickly. 'So whichever monster that I show here can't be used huh…?'

Thinking about this carefully, I decided to bring out a card that I acquired when I was rummaging through those booster packs. They never said that the card had to be from our deck, right?

I saw that Calian, David and Jay also got their cards. We all held them up at the same time.

Calian: [Gilford The Legend – 2800/2000]

David: [Skull Knight – 2650/2250]

Eric: [Luster Dragon – 2600/1400]

Jay: [Launcher Spider – 2200/2500]

'I didn't think that the difference would be that close. I came close to beating David… But what's Calian thinking choosing to present Gilford The Legend? He won't be able to use it!' I thought with confusion. 'Was he just hoping to get the first turn?'

The referee held up his hand. "The turn rotation is as follows: First it will be Calian, then David, then Eric and finally, Jay! Now Duelists, prepare to begin the Four-Way Duel! Remember that the last two Duelists standing will go to the finals here!"

We all activated our Duel Disks as we prepared ourselves. I looked to my right a little and gave Calian a nod. He nodded back.

"Ready?" The four of us shouted.

"It's time to Duel!"

-Calian VS David VS Eric VS Jay-

Calian LP: 4000 – David LP: 4000 – Eric LP: 4000 – Jay LP 4000

"Here goes! It's my move!" Calian shouted. "I draw!" He added his card to his hand and looked over what he had. "Let's see here…"

"I'll start by summoning Twin-Sword Marauder in Attack Mode!" Calian began by placing his monster on his Duel Disk. The holograms summoned a monster that wore some thick armour and held unique swords in both of his hands. [Twin-Sword Marauder – 1600/1000] "Now, I'll end my turn there."

'He didn't set any Spells or Traps? Was it an unlucky hand that he drew, or is he playing smartly here?' I thought, curious. 'No-one else will be able to attack before Calian, so there isn't really a point for him to set any Spells or Traps if they can't help him.'

"It's my move!" Cried David. "I draw!" He looked over his hand, and smirked. "I'll begin by activating the Field Spell, Array Of Revealing Light."

The Duel field shifted to create a magical circle that was underneath all of us. 'Not that card!'

"Here's what my Field Spell does." David began. "It allows me to declare one type of monster, and monsters of that type that I declared won't be able to attack the turn they're summoned! And I chose Warrior! Guess you'll be playing defensive this game Calian." David smirked, turning to Calian.

"No way! None of my Warriors can attack the turn they're summoned!? That can't be!" Calian shouted in protest. "Almost every monster in my deck is made out of them!"

"A weakness of running a same type deck, I'm afraid." I interrupted. "But all you have to do is destroy the Field Spell, or even try and find a way around it." I suggested.

"Well good luck with that." David said, dismissing the possibility. "Now, I'll continue by summoning Twin-Headed Behemoth in Defence Mode!" A monster with wings and two heads was summoned to the field with his arms crossed. [Twin-Headed Behemoth – 1500/1200] "I'll end my turn by placing these two cards facedown."

"My move." I declared. I drew a card and took a look at my hand.

'What do I have to work with? I've got Taladon The Warrior, Gagagigo, Des Feral Imp, Giga Gagagigo, Draining Shield… and I just drew Cloning.' I looked over my cards before coming to a decision.

"I summon, Taladon The Warrior in Attack Mode!" Just ahead of me, appeared a young warrior with brown hair and blue eyes. His armour was a shiny new cobalt colour, at his side was a well-crafted sword. He had a confident look on his face. [Taladon The Warrior – 1700/1400]

"Hey, that guy looks a lot like the other monster you summoned in your last Duel!" Calian pointed out.

"Anyone could see that…" Jay muttered with annoyance. Calian had a look of irritation about him, so I quickly continued.

"I'll end my turn by placing these two cards facedown on the field." I declared, setting my Draining Shield and my Cloning facedown.

"My move!" Jay cried as he drew a card. "First I'll set a card…"

"Next, I'll summon this monster, Solar Flare Dragon!" The holograms summoned a dragon that was a lot like a serpent in shape, it also had flames that danced across its whole body. [Solar Flare Dragon – 1500/1000] "You may want to be careful about my dragon, he has quite the nasty effect." Jay suggested with a grin. "Now I'll end my turn by activating Necklace Of Command, equipping it onto Solar Flare Dragon!"

"What does that necklace do?" Calian questioned.

"You'll have to wait and see." Jay shrugged smartly. "But you should be more worried about yourselves. Solar Flare Dragon is gonna deal you all 500 points of damage since it's the end of my turn!"

"All of us?" I questioned with surprise. David frowned as he heard that.

"That's right. Technically you all count as my opponents here, so you'll all be taking the damage!" Solar Flare Dragon shot out three fireballs from its mouth that struck me, Calian, and David.

Eric LP: 4000 - 3500

Calian LP: 4000 - 3500

David LP: 4000 - 3500

"Like I said, my turns over, so let's get on with this little Battle Royal here." Jay suggested, looking to Calain.

"I'd be happy to make this all the more interesting now that I can attack! It's my move!" Calian shouted. "I draw!"

After Calain added his card to his hand, he sprung to action. "I'll summon Warrior Lady Of The Wasteland in Defence Mode!" The holograms summoned a young lady who had blond hair and a hat. Her ragged clothing made her look like she was from… well a wasteland. [Warrior Lady Of The Wasteland – 1100/1200] "I'm not done yet, I'm placing three cards facedown!"

'Three cards?' I thought with surprise. 'Here's hoping they all won't be destroyed in a single go.'

"Time to battle! Go Twin-Sword Marauder! Attack and destroy Twin-Headed Behemoth!" Calian declared as he pointed at Twin-Headed Behemoth. "You aren't safe even if your monster is in Defence Position – Twin Sword Marauder deals piercing battle damage!"

David looked shocked. "He can what?!"

Twin-Sword Marauder leapt forwards and struck Twin-Headed Behemoth slicing its heads clean off. David grimaced as he took a bit of damage.

David LP: 3500 – 3100

"Oh yeah did I say that my monster can attack again after he destroys a monster in battle?" Calian replied with a grin. "Now he'll attack you directly!"

"I don't think so! Reveal Trap, Call Of The Haunted! This will resurrect my Twin-Headed Behemoth in Attack Mode!" David stated. The holographic ground trembled as Twin-Headed Behemoth was resurrected on David's field. [Twin-Headed Behemoth – 1500/1200]

"Well my monster can still attack you!" Calian declared, not letting up. Twin-Sword Marauder ran forwards and destroyed Twin-Headed Behemoth once again.

David LP: 3100 – 3000

"My turns over now." Calian said. "Make your move."

"Before I do… Twin-Headed Behemoth's effect actives! Because he was destroyed, he'll come right back to my side of the field! Of course, he'll be Banished when he leaves the field again, and he'll only have 1000 ATK and DEF."

"Oh come on!" Calian groaned as Twin-Headed Behemoth appeared again in front of David. [Twin-Headed Behemoth – 1000/1000] "That's the last time that monster will be on your field! Now go! It's your move!

"With pleasure!" David said as he drew a card. "I summon Element Dragon!" [Element Dragon – 1500/1200] "We've all seen this monster before, but this time, he'll get to activate his effect!"

"Oh boy…" I muttered.

"'Oh boy' is an understatement!" David gave a scheming chuckle. "Because there's a WIND Monster on the field, he can now attack twice during battle! Not only that, but because there's a FIRE Monster on the field, he'll gain an extra 500 ATK!" [Element Dragon ATK: 1500 – 2000]

"What? 2000 ATK?! And he can attack twice?!" Calian exclaimed through gritted teeth.

David was grinning, and I saw that Jay was doing the same. They really were working together here. "I think it's time to pay you back for the damage that you dealt to me earlier! Go Element Dragon, attack Twin-Sword Marauder!"

"As if! I use this Trap card, Negate Attack!" Calian yelled as he revealed one of his facedown cards. Element Dragon was stoped from firing off his fireball, as he was forced to stand down.

"Keh, that was a lucky break for you! Next time I'll definitely take down all your monsters!" David said with anger.

"You'll have to wait for that – about four turns to be exact." I reminded him. "It's my turn!"

"I draw!" Looks I got Pot Of Greed. Activating this will never get old. "I activate Pot Of Greed. It allows me to draw two new cards from my deck!" I drew my cards and saw that I got Sakuretsu Armour and Victoria. Now that's not bad.

"First I'll tribute my Taladon The Warrior to summon this card, Giga Gagagigo!" Taladon was sent to the graveyard, and in his place rose a huge green lizard with thick scales and a strong tail. He had jagged claws and stood tall. [Giga Gagagigo – 2450/1500]

'If I let Solar Flare Dragon stay on the field, it'll use its effect again to deal us all 500 more points if damage. Not to mention that David is currently focused on Calain, Jay's been left uninterrupted. Time to change that.' I decided, as my eyes gazed over to Jay.

"Now, Giga Gagagigo, attack Solar Flare Dragon!" I declared, turning and pointing to Solar Flare Dragon. Jay scowled a little as I said that. Giga Gagagigo marched forwards and slashed down his claws to destroy Solar Flare Dragon.

"Not so fast! I'll activate this continuous trap before my Solar Flare Dragon is destroyed – Backfire! This card will make it so if a FIRE Monster on my field is destroyed and sent to the graveyard, you'll take 500 points of damage!"

As Solar Flare Dragon was destroyed, both me and Jay took damage.

Eric LP: 3400 – 2900

Jay LP: 4000 – 3050

"And now the effect of Necklace Of Command activates! I get to draw a card as Solar Flare Dragon was just destroyed." Jay said as he happily drew a card from his deck.

"Alright, I'll end my turn with this card facedown." I said, setting Sakuretsu Armour facedown.

"Then it's my turn." Jay said as he drew a card from his deck. "I'll begin by summoning Flame Ruler in Attack Mode." To Jay's side of the field, appeared a man that seemed to be an adept at controlling flames. [Flame Ruler – 1500/1600]

'Why'd he play it in Attack Mode? He has no facedown spell or traps!' I thought with confusion. 'What's his game here?'

"Now I'll end my turn."

'That's it? All he's done is summon a monster on each of his turns. Does he really have no more Spells and Traps?' I thought about this carefully, but I was caught off by Calain.

"Here goes! Back to me again!" Calian stated as he drew a card to begin his turn. What was interesting was that Calian was looking at his hand quite carefully. What did he draw? He seemed to think about his possible plays for a moment, before he came to a decision.

"Ok; I tribute My Warrior Lady Of The Wasteland and my Twin-Sword Marauder to summon this monster. Come forth, Sword Hunter!" Calain tributed his two Monsters to summon a warrior with armour that had multiple swords on him. He held two, had one attached to his shoulder plate, and a huge one strapped across his back. [Sword Hunter – 2450/1700]

"Check it out! This is the second strongest monster in my deck! It'll totally break away that defence going on there!" Calain said with enthusiasm.

"Yeah right! He can't battle the turn he's summoned due to my Array Of Revealing Light!" David reminded with a boast.

Calain was dumbfounded. "Uh, yeah, I mean I totally knew that!"

'… He forgot didn't he…?'

"Don't worry Calain. You summoning Sword Hunter allowed me to summon a powerful monster as well." I assured him with a small smile.

"Huh? Really?" Calian wondered. David and Jay looked confused by that.

"Behold, my trap, Cloning!" I declared, revealing my trap card. Now David and Jay grunted at that reveal. "Cloning summons a Clone Token that has the same, ATK, DEF, and LV of the monster that was just summoned!" As I explained that, the Clone Token shaped and warped to look like an exact replica of Sword Hunter. [Clone Token – 2450/1700]

"Aw, nice one! Now you can attack with it on your next turn Eric!" Calain said with joy.

I nodded but was cut off by David. "You forgot the other effect of that Clone Token. If the Monster that was used to summon it is destroyed, then the Clone Token is also destroyed!"

"We'll see about that. None of your Monsters can get over the Clone Token or my Sword Hunter!" Calian said with gusto.

"We'll see about that." David mimicked with a smile. "Now is it my move yet?" Calain gave an annoyed nod. "Excellent! Now I draw!"

David drew his card, but didn't even bother to look at it. That meant he felt he already had everything that he needed. "Time for you to face this powerful monster! I'll tribute my Element Dragon and my Twin-Headed Behemoth to summon this all-powerful dragon! Shake the earth with your power, Tyrant Dragon!"

I gave a small gasp of amazement. That Tyrant Dragon?

As David's two monsters were tributed disappeared, in their place appeared a hulking dragon. It was huge and beastly, with sharp claws and talons. It had tremendous wings and stood tall and firm. There were two horns at the back of his head. He let out a powerful roar. [Tyrant Dragon – 2900/2500]

Calian took a step back in fear. "Whoa! That monster's huge! And it looks hungry too!"

"That's right!" David said clenching his fist. "This is the strongest monster in my deck! And now you'll see why! Tyrant Dragon can negate and destroy any traps that target him, and when Tyrant Dragon destroys a monster in battle, he can attack again!"

"Say what!?" Calian shouted in horror.

"Say goodbye!" David yelled! "Go Tyrant Dragon! Attack and destroy Calian's Sword Hunter!"

Tyrant Dragon let out a roar as he charged up a huge fireball, before launching it at Sword Hunter.

"Don't think so!" Calian shouted in protest. "Reveal Trap card, Reinforcements, giving my Sword Hunter and extra 500 ATK!" [Sword Hunter ATK: 2450 – 2950]

"…What?"

The fireball that Tyrant Dragon shot out was literally parried back by Sword Hunter, as Tyrant Dragon was completely destroyed by its own attack.

David LP: 3000 – 2950

"N-No!" David yelled in fury. "You can't just destroy my monster after I spent so long to bring him out like that! I put so much work into it! You can't get rid of him with a single card!"

David was livid at his monster being destroyed that easily. "Really?" I spoke up. "Well guess what, it's a feeling that we all go through with this game. So let me tell you this David, you better get used to it! Because it's gonna get a lot worse as time goes on!"

'We've all felt the same sort of feeling… So many bad memories about my board getting wiped comes to mind…' I thought with a shudder. Bad times… bad times…

"Erm, anyway, getting back on track…" Calian said. "The effect of my Sword Hunter will take your Tyrant Dragon and Equip him onto himself as an Equip Spell!" Sword Hunter Equipped Tyrant Dragon into himself, raising his ATK by 200 points. [Sword Hunter ATK: 2950 – 3150]

David just grunted as he lowered his head. "…I end my turn." [Sword Hunter ATK: 3150 – 2650]

"…Really?" Jay commented, turning to his partner. "That's all you could do?"

"Aw shut up!" David argued. "I didn't see you trying to help me! In fact all you did was deal me damage with Solar Flare Dragon!"

"I'd thought that you could handle yourself fine. But it looks like I'll have to clean things up here. I doubt you'll last much longer now that you have no cards on your field." Jay said dryly.

"Jay is right about that." I said, agreeing with him. "Now it's my move! Time to shift the scales of this Duel!"

I looked at what I drew. Hand Destruction. This was one of the cards from the booster packs that I added in. Sure, it's bad in the fact that you need to discard two cards to even activate it, but I felt it was worth trying out at least. I believe that four-way rules meant that any one Duelist was classed as my opponent. So I could use the card even though David didn't have two cards in hand.

"Here goes! I activate Hand Destruction!" I said playing the card. "Now each player has to discard two cards from their hand and then they can draw two more cards." I smirked, looking at David. "Of course, if you don't have-"

"Yes, yes, I know how the card works." David scoffed. "Now get on with it you three!" He said as he crossed his arms.

Me, Jay and Calian discarded two cards from our hand. I discarded Des Feral Imp and Victoria. Then the three of us drew two new cards. Looks like I drew Zolga and my own copy of Twin-Headed Behemoth.

"Ok, I summon Gagagigo in Attack Mode!" I declared, summoning the most famous lizard in Yu-Gi-Oh card lore to my field. [Gagagigo – 1850/1000]

"It's time to battle! Say farewell David, because it's time for you to take your leave! Go Gagagigo! Attack David directly!" Gagagigo rushed forwards and delivered a swipe at David's LP's.

David LP: 2950 - 1100

"It's not over yet. I guess it'd be somewhat satisfying to finish you of with the monster that destroyed your Tyrant Dragon. Now, Clone Token! Attack David directly!

The clone of Sword Hunter flew forwards and attacked David directly, eliminating him from the Four-Way Duel.

David LP: 1100 – 0

"Duelist David has been eliminated!" Cried the referee that I nearly forgot about. "All cards on his field and in his hand are sent to the graveyard. However, players can still interact with them if possible."

As the referee stated that, the magical circle that had been created by Array Of Revealing Light disappeared. "Alright! Now my Warriors can attack the turn they're summoned!" Came Calian with a grin.

"Yes, that'll definitely make things easier going forwards." I nodded with satisfaction.

"I can't believe this!" David cried with anger and shock. "This was meant to be my big break! I blame you for not helping me Jay! I'm outta here, if you lose, I can't wait to see your reaction!" David stormed off, with one of the KaibaCorp employees running after him to make sure that he went the right way… and that he handed back over the Duel Disk on his arm.

So now there were three of us. I turned to Jay. "I often forgot that you were here. But you won't be able to remain silent for much longer. I've got my eye on you now."

"Well David was rather loud and aggressive when Dueling. It's no wonder that you both gravitated towards him. But don't expect me to just as easy as an opponent." Jay smirked.

"We'll see about that!" Calain shouted with energy. "It's practically a two on one matchup! And Eric can still attack with his Giga Gagagigo!"

Jay frowned at that, while I smirked. "Don't worry, I didn't forget Calian. Time to speed this Duel up! Now go Giga Gagagigo! Attack Flame Ruler!" Like his younger self, Giga Gagagigo rushed forwards and slashed Flame Ruler rather swiftly.

Jay LP: 3050 – 2100

Jay smirked amidst the holographic pieces of his monster. "Did you forget about my Backfire Trap? Now take 500 points of damage!"

Eric LP: 2900 – 2400

"A little bit of damage like that is no problem for me if it means you'll go down even quicker and allow me to go through to the finale all the quicker." I said. "Now, I'll end my turn. Your move Jay."

"Finally. I draw!" As Jay drew his card and added it to his hand, he grinned. "Well, this duel shouldn't take that much longer now. Finishing you two off will be easy enough. It's just a case of who I want to fight in the finals."

"Ha, you'll have trouble getting past our three facedown cards!" Calain declared with a mischievous laugh.

"That? Oh that'll be child play." Jay commented. "I activate Monster Reborn! Now return to me, Flame Ruler!" Flame Ruler reappeared on Jay's side of the field once again. [Flame Ruler – 1500/1600] "He won't be around for long though, because he'll be sacrificed to summon this monster! Infernal Flame Emperor!"

"No monster that's LV5 or LV6 will be able to save you here!" Calian shouted in rebuttal.

"Oh yeah, about that, did I say that my Flame Ruler actually counts as two tributes for the tribute summon of a FIRE monster?"

I grimaced. That I had forgotten about. Calian too seemed rather nervous, as the two monsters were sacrificed.

To the field came a huge hulking monster that was covered in fire. He had huge wings that came off his back, and he had a variety of different types of fire that he swirled around in his hand. He let out a cry of rage as he summoned. [Infernal Flame Emperor – 2700/1600]

"His ATK is impressive sure, but just what else can he do?" I questioned with curiosity.

"I'll show you!" Jay cried. "My Infernal Flame Emperor can Banish FIRE Monsters from my graveyard, and for each one Banished, I can destroy a spell or trap card on the field!"

'Well shit. This is gonna be rough.' I thought with a grimace, preparing for the worst.

"Go Infernal Flame Emperor! Banish four FIRE Monsters from my graveyard to destroy all the spell and trap cards that Eric and Calian control!" Infernal Flame Emperor let out a proud cry as he channeled fire into his hands, before he shot it all off to destroy Tyrant Dragon who was an Equip Spell, Sakuretsu Armour, Draining Shield and, Rope Of Life which was Calian's other facedown card. [Sword Hunter ATK: 2650 – 2450]

"I can't believe it! All our traps and spells are gone!" Calain cried with protest. "They can't all be gone!" While he was still going through the stage of denial, Jay turned his attention to him.

"Before I move into my Battle Phase, I'll activate Double Summon, and summon One-Eyed Shield Dragon in Defence Mode." The holograms summoned a young green and grey coloured dragon that was curled up. [One-Eyed Shield Dragon – 700/1300]

"Time to battle! Go Infernal Flame Emperor! Attack and destroy Gagagigo!" Infernal Flame Emperor shot out powerful fireballs that ended up frying the large lizard, destroying him.

Eric LP: 2400 - 1550

"Now, I end my turn." Jay said, looking satisfied.

"It's my move!" Cried Calian as he drew a card. As he added it to his hand, he seemed to be in a bit of a dilemma. He was looking over his cards, trying to think of the best possible plays. Right when I was about to speak up, he made his play. "I use the Spell, The Warrior Returning Alive! This will allow me to add back Warrior Lady Of The Wasteland to my hand! Now, I'll summon her in Defence Mode." [Warrior Lady Of The Wasteland – 1100/1200]

"Battle! I attack and destroy One-Eyed Shield Dragon with my Sword Hunter!" One-Eyed Shield Dragon was destroyed, and was then Equipped onto Sword Hunter, boosting his ATK a little. [Sword Hunter ATK: 24502650]

"I… end my turn." Calian grimaced.

"It's my move!" I declared, drawing a card. 'Please tell me I draw something good here…!'

Manju Of The Ten Thousand Hands. Now he would be good… if I had one of the other two cards… For now, it's best to save him. I need to try and get my defences up. "I summon my own Twin-Headed Behemoth in Defence Mode!" [Twin-Headed Behemoth – 1500/1200] "Next I'll switch my Giga Gagagigo and my Clone Token into Defence Mode." [Giga Gagagigo – 2450/1500] [Clone Token – 2450/1700]

"That's my turn over all well." I said, trying to remain confident.

"Back to me again. How quick we fly through these turns." Jay noted as he drew a card. "I summon Blazing Impachi to the field in Attack Mode!"

Next to Infernal Flame Emperor, came a much smaller creature that looked like a wooden mannequin on fire. [Blazing Impachi – 1850/0]

"Time to battle! Go Blazing Impachi! Attack and destroy Giga Gagagigo!" Blazing Impachi struck his fist down into the ground and it caused an eruption underneath the large lizard. He was destroyed, joining his friend in the graveyard. "I'm not done yet. I think it's time to kill two birds with one stone here. Go Infernal Flame Emperor, attack Sword Hunter!"

Infernal Flame Emperor shot out a powerful fireball that struck Sword Hunter directly, causing him to yell as he was destroyed, dealing damage to Calian.

Calian LP: 3500 – 3450

"That was basically nothing! We're still ahead you in terms of LP's!"

"Hm, that is true… but I do have the advantage in monsters." Jay reminded. "Remember, because Sword Hunter was destroyed, the Clone Token Eric controls is also destroyed!" The Clone Token on my field was destroyed, leaving me one more Monster down. "You are both running out of options here."

"Hey Eric? Any chance you can summon out your Taladon The Swordsman? He'd clean this mess up easily!" Calian asked with worry.

"Well if I did… I'd need a Warrior monster in my hand to make him stronger…" I muttered under my breath.

"And let me guess, you don't have one?" Jay questioned with a small smile. "Well, bad hands happen to us all. Maybe in your next Duel you'll get what you need right away. A shame it had to be this Duel."

Calian however was in thought about what I said. "You need a Warrior…?"

"Now, I end my turn." Jay said. "Let's see what you can do here."

"I aim to please!" Calain said as he drew his card to begin his turn. He looked at his card and I swore I could see cogs turning in his mind. "First I'll set this monster facedown! Then I'll activate this card, Exchange!"

I couldn't help but gasp in astonishment. That card?!

"Wait… Technically both me and Jay here count as your opponents. That would mean that you get to chose who you want to swap cards with!"

"That's right, and I'm targeting you Eric!"

"Me? But why… Wait… is that why you used it on me!?" I questioned with shock. "You know how big of a risk that is!"

Calain shrugged as he walked over to me, yeah maybe. But we both want to win right? This is the trust Eric." He made it to me, and showed me his lone card. I saw that Calian had Gearfried The Swordmaster. I bet it was the card that he drew.

'So I was right.' I realised as I looked at the card. 'This is why Calian wanted to use Exchange.'

With no choice, I gave a small smirk as I took Gearfried The Swordmaster. I held out my hand for a card that Calian could take from me. He took Zolga.

With the effect resolved, Calain walked back to his side of the field. Jay meanwhile, raised an eyebrow. "What was that all about? So you gave each other a card. That doesn't mean that you've gained an upper hand. If the cards you gave away was so powerful, you would have used them!"

"So why didn't we?" I replied, knowing what Calian was risking here. "I'll admit Calian had nothing to gain for himself by taking one of my cards, but I certainly gained something from him."

Jay was a bit stunned, trying to figure it out. "Well, Calian couldn't use it, that would mean you…! …Gah! Did you honestly gamble a high LV Warrior Monster in order to-!?"

"Yes." I replied simply. "Time to see if my deck has the card that I need."

I took a deep breath as I placed my two fingers on my deck. "Here we go! Draw!"

I drew my card as far as I possibly could. I then flicked the card around to see what it was. 'Come on… Heart Of The Cards…'

'There you are. Time to win this!'

"I tribute my Twin-Headed Behemoth to summon this Monster! Come forth and fight so that we can win this duel! I'm counting on you, Taladon The Swordsman!" My favourite Monster hit the field ready to fight for me. [Taladon The Swordsman – 2200/1900]

"No!" Jay cried in disbelief. "You actually drew him?!"

"All I did was believe in my deck. And seeing that you remembered him, I'm guessing that you can recall what it is that he does?"

Jay took a step back. "He can equip a Warrior Type monster from your hand onto himself…!"

"Yeah, and I just got the perfect card! Gearfried The Swordmaster that I received from Calain!" I yelled as I clenched my first.

"Go Taladon Equip Gearfried The Swordmaster onto yourself!" Calian shouted.

"Don't push yourself. That's my line." I warned Calain lightly.

"Heh heh, sorry..."

Taladon The Swordsman held his sword high as it pulsed with power. The sword suddenly shined a tremendous colour, as Taladon gained more than double his original strength. [Taladon The Swordsman ATK: 2200 5000]

"But I came so far!" Jay cried. "This can't be how it ends for me!"

"It is! Go Taladon The Swordsman! Attack Infernal Flame Emperor! Heroic Slash!"

Taladon sprinted forwards, as he raised his mighty blade bringing it up into the sky and sliced it downwards towards Infernal Flame Emperor.

"GAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Jay yelled as he held up his Duel Disk to cover his face from the holographic dust.

Jay LP: 2100 – 0

"The last two Duelists standing are Eric Yuriko and Calain Field!" The referee yelled, as he held up his hand in the air.

"All right!" Calain shouted with joy. "We won, we won! Now we can both go the finals of this tournament!"

"Yes, but just know that I won't be going easy on you Calain." I warned him with a smile. "I won't just be handing the victory to you."

"Well then I'll be bringing my A game as well!" Calian said he grinned. "This'll be so much fun!"

I gave a light chuckle as I saw that Jay had taken off his Duel Disk and handed it back to referee. "Well, that was fun I guess. I can at least brag that I was one of the first people to wear a Duel Disk."

'That would be a pretty big thing to brag about seeing how insane Duel Disks get as the anime's go on.' I thought with small surprise.

Jay waved his hand. "Well, have fun in the finale you two." He said without that much care as he left the building.

"And now it's you and me." I said to Calain. "So, you – Wait what are you doing?"

I saw that he had his back turned to me and was… editing his deck, I think… "Calain? What are you doing?"

"Just a few last-minute changes before our Duel." He replied quickly, still turned away from me. He then finished editing his deck and turned to face me, with a sinister grin that would give Weevil Underwood a run for his money.

"Really?" I raised an eyebrow at that. "Interesting. Well, I think I'll do the same."

"Could we hurry this up!" The referee said with a tint of pleading in his words there. "We need to get this done within the next thirty minutes!"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah!" I waved my hand as I reached into my jacket pocket and pulled out the discounted booster pack that I got at Duke's shop earlier in the day. Turning to look away from Calian, I ripped open the pack to see what cards I got.

"Now, what did I get? Looks I got… Ooh not bad… Yes that's nice… Very good… Nice, nice… and the final card is… Woah! Now this is real gold right here!" I chuckled as I added the cards into my deck.

"Hey! What'd you get over there!" Calian wondered with eagerness.

"What cards did you add into your deck, hm?"

"…"

In a bit of a huff, Calian sealed his mouth shut as he folded his arms. The referee was next to speak up. "Hey! Are having this Duel!?"

"Yes!" Me and Calian shouted. I saw that the employee who had led David out of the building was returning here, with his Duel Disk in hand. These guys were definitely sketchy. I mean, they had completely tanked their trust with me in how they had been acting recently.

Were the three of them even a part of KaibaCorp?

That was an interesting theory, but who would they be with then? A few ideas crossed into my mind, but I chose to focus on the fact that; A: They seemingly weren't malicious in anyway, and B: I had a Duel to compete in.

Me and Calian handed each other our decks, as we shuffled them. "No hard feelings if I win here, right Eric?"

"…No. None at all. But I will be bringing everything I have here." I stated.

"Same here! By the end of today, I'll be registered for Battle City!"

"…"

Calian in Battle City… That was… interesting to think about… Was it a wholly good idea for him to enter? I was here shuffling his deck now, so I kinda had to try and decide about whether I wanted him in or not. What could I do?

Hmm… Maybe… If he actually legitimately beat me here, that would make him worthy of entering… I mean, I have a pretty good deck here, so I think that Calian beating me here would mean that he's got what it takes to win at least a few games.

Yeah… If Calian wins this Duel, he gets in. If I win? Then maybe he'll have to wait a bit longer to be a pro.

Smirking to myself, I finished shuffling his deck as I handed it to him. "Best of luck to you. You'll need it."

Calian handed me my deck. "Ditto."

We both made our way back to the centre of the stadium, as I saw the three men that brought us here talk amongst themselves in whispers. Narrowing my eyebrows a little, I turned my attention back to Calian.

We both had calm expressions, but they shifted into serious looks as we stared each other down.

"Ahem, the final match in this tournament will be between Eric Yuriko and Calian Field. Whoever's Life Points reach zero first, loses!" The referee called out.

Not wasting any more time, we both activated our Duel Disks and prepared ourselves.

"Here we go! Time to Duel!"

Seto Kaiba.

The CEO of the largest gaming company stood in a tall and wide experimentation room. Ahead of him, far above where he stood was a specialised Dueling Computer that he himself had created. He had just put that Computer against his all-powerful Egyptian God card – Obelisk The Tormentor.

The experiment had been an incredible success. It proceeded just as Kaiba calculated it would. Obelisk uttered annihilated the Dueling Computer with little effort. Kaiba picked up the card of Obelisk The Tormentor and looked at it with glee.

"Incredible. If this is the power of one card, with all three Egyptian God cards, I will be unstoppable. I will defeat Yugi and reclaim my title as the number one Duelist… Then I'll defeat Eric for the humiliation he dealt to me years ago!" Kaiba said to himself, before he then started to laugh to himself, feeling like his victory was secure.

…And then his laughter was halted instantly by a voice over the rooms loudspeaker.

"Mr Kaiba!" Came the voice.

Kaiba stoped laughing as he looked up at the control room where his brother and the head developer of the Dueling Computer were. But just next to them was…

"Roland. This better be important." Kaiba warned him, giving him a sharp glare.

"It is sir. We've just detected that four of the five prototype Duel Disks that you constructed have been stolen! They're no longer in the secure vault!"

Kaiba's eyes widened quickly before they immediately narrowed in anger. "What? Explain how this happened Roland! Those Duel Disks were under secure surveillance, no one outside of KaibaCorp could have stolen them!"

"Yes sir, that's why after my investigation into this, I came to the conclusion that they were stolen by KaibaCorp employees – three to be exact." Roland confirmed.

"Where are they?" Kaiba demanded as he clenched his fist.

"Using our orbital satellite network, we've detected them to be in Domino Stadium. We also found that they are conducting Duels with them inside the stadium. As our satellite programming is still in its beta, we can't yet identify who has been Dueling on them."

Kaiba paused for a split second before responding to that. "Roland. This right here was meant to be the very first test of the Duel Disk. I was meant to be the first person to use it in a Duel. Are you suggesting that someone else beat me to it?"

Despite the far distance between the two, even Kaiba could see that Roland gulped before answering. "That is… a possibility sir."

Kaiba immediately moved to exit the large room that he was in. "Get me to Domino Stadium. No KaibaCorp employee would ever dare to steal from me. I'll make sure that they all pay for it."

"Y-Yes sir!" Roland said as he ran off to prepare transportation – presumably a helicopter. As a Kaiba exited the room and moved through the corridors, he knew that someone was at work here. No-one had ever dared to steal from KaibaCorp, especially not when he was in charge.

He pressed an earpiece attached to his left ear. "Mokuba. Run an employee check of all recent KaibaCorp members. Something is definitely wrong here."

"You got it big Bro!" Mokuba said, as he moved to do just as Kaiba asked him to.

Now making his way up the stairs, Kaiba maintained a serious look. No one stole from KaibaCorp. No one. Whoever it was that thought it'd be funny to steal from KaibaCorp won't know the real consequences of their actions until it hit them hard.

Kaiba would find out who stole those Duel Disks – and who had been Dueling on them.

Next time we'll see the final Duel for this intro arc! See you then!
