Welcome back everyone, I hope that you'll enjoy this chapter here! Just reminding anyone who hasn't been here in a while that I'll still try to answer as many reviews as I can. I just ask that you try and keep them constructive.
This is probably one of the Duels that I've tried my hardest at when it comes to making it seem epic and well-paced. I am trying to avoid pulling made-up cards out of thin air that conveniently save the main Duelist… for now at least. That might change. Here's hoping I did ok here. The final Battle Phase of this Duel was wild to write, so I hope that you like it.
Also I changed things so that we DON'T see Eric's held cards throughout the Duel. Let me me know if you prefer seeing them, or not seeing them.

"Here we go! Time to Duel!"

Eric LP: 4000 – Calian LP: 4000
"Eric will begin the Duel!" Shouted the Referee.
"You won't see me complaining! I draw!" I yelled as I drew my first card, adding it to my hand.
I took a look down at my hand and considered my options here. 'Interesting...'
"I begin by setting this monster facedown and setting one card facedown as well!" I decided, placing my cards on my Duel Disk. "That'll end my turn."
"My move!" Calian said as he drew his card. As he added it to his hand, he made no hesitation in making his next move. "I'll summon Sasuki Samurai in Defence Mode!" The holograms summoned a monster that was a small samurai with a very round head and pointed spear. [Sasuki Samurai – 1200/1200] "But he won't be around for long, cause I'm gonna activate Double Summon!" Calian declared as he activated his spell card. "Now I'll tribute him to summon this monster! Come forth, Total Defence Shogun!" [Total Defence Shogun – 1550/2500]
'Total Defence Shogun already?' I thought with surprise. 'Calian isn't holding back here…. That's good.'
"Time to battle! Go Total Defence Shogun! Attack Eric's facedown monster!" Calian shouted. Total Defence Shogun picked up a large sword that he had holstered and threw it at my facedown monster. The monster was revealed to be…
"Masked Dragon!" I shouted as my monster was destroyed. [Masked Dragon – 1400/1100] "When Masked Dragon is destroyed, I can summon a Dragon Type monster from my deck with 1500 or fewer ATK!"
"But before I do… I activate a trap, Soul Rope!" I shouted as I revealed my facedown trap card.
"Soul Rope?!" Calian said with worry, knowing the card.
"By paying 1000 LP's, I can summon a LV4 monster from my deck, and I chose Zolga!" I decided summoning my monster to the field. The monster that I summoned looked like a creature in purple armour with a purple cloak wrapped around him. [Zolga – 1700/1200]
Eric LP: 4000 - 3000
"And now the effect of Masked Dragon will activate. I summon Twin-Headed Behemoth in Defence Mode!" The two headed dragon appeared on my field. [Twin-Headed Behemoth – 1500/1200]
"Destroyed one monster for the outcome of two more just like that…" Calian muttered with worry. "I end my turn."
'No facedown cards?' I thought with surprise. 'Hm, this might not take that long.'
"My turn!" I said as I drew my card. "Alright, I tribute Zolga to summon Giga Gagagigo in Attack Mode! [Giga Gagagigo – 2450/1500] "That's not all, because Zolga was tributed to summon a monster I gain 2000 LP's!" I said confidently my LP's rose.
Eric LP: 3000 – 5000
"5000 LP's!" Calian exclaimed with annoyance. "Well so what? You can't get over my Total Defence Shogun!"
"I can with this card, Riryoku!" I rebutted, activating my spell card. Calian groaned as I began to use the effect. "You should know what it does by now. I'll half Total Defence Shogun's ATK and add it to my Giga Gagagigo!
[Total Defence Shogun ATK: 1550 – 775]
[Giga Gagagigo ATK: 2450 – 3225]
"Time to battle! Go Giga Gagagigo, attack and destroy Total Defence Shogun!" Total Defence Shogun was destroyed by a furious slash by Giga Gagagigo. "Now go Twin-Headed Behemoth, attack Calian directly!"
Calian grunted, being pushed backwards by the flames of Twin-Headed Behemoth. "Tch, not bad Eric… now I have less than half your LP's…"
Calian LP: 4000 – 2500
"With that, I'll end my turn." I said, pleased at my progress. "Your move. Don't disappoint me."
"Don't even think about it! My move!" Calian shouted as he drew his card dramatically. He then activated the card that he drew. "First I'll activate Pot Of Greed! Now I can draw two more cards from my deck!" Calian drew his two new cards and looked at them, him looking eager as to what they were.
"That's what I'm talking about! I activate the continuous spell, The A. Forces!" Calian said with a grin as he activated the spell that would only remain troublesome if Calian summoned more Warriors. "Next I'll set a card facedown and summon my Armageddon Knight in Attack Mode!"
As Calian set his facedown spell or trap, he summoned a dark armoured warrior with a red scarf, black hair and a rapier. Ah, this monster. [Armageddon Knight – 1400/1200] "And now The A. Forces will increase his ATK by 200!" [Armageddon Knight ATK: 1400 – 1600]
"Armageddon Knight uses his effect! He sends a DARK monster from my deck to my graveyard. I send Strike Ninja!" Calian sent his Strike Ninja to the graveyard. "Now it's time to battle! Go Armageddon Knight, attack and destroy Twin-Headed Behemoth!" Armageddon Knight leapt forwards and struck Twin-Headed Behemoth with his rapier, destroying him.
Eric LP: 5000 – 4900
"Nothing but a scratch!" I proclaimed with small smugness. "Is that all?"
"Hmph, I end my turn." Calian said crossing his arms.
"Well, that answers that then huh?" I mused with a smirk. But there was more to come. "The effect of Twin-Headed Behemoth activates! He returns to my field with 1000 ATK and DEF!" I announced much to Calian's irritation as Twin-Headed Behemoth reappeared on my side of the field. [Twin-Headed Behemoth: 1000/1000] "Now! It's my move Calian!"
I looked at the card that I drew, before making my move. "First I'll set a monster facedown, then I'll move into my Battle Phase! Go Giga Gagagigo, attack Armageddon Knight!" Right before Giga Gagagigo could land the final hit however…
"Reveal trap card, Draining Shield!" Calian declared with triumph. Giga Gagagigo's attack was blocked by a rainbow reflective shield. "Your attack is negated, and I gain LP's equal to your Giga Gagagigo's attack!"
Calian LP: 2500 – 4950
"Ha! Now the gap has been evened out a bit more." Calian said with a proud look as he wiped a finger across the bottom of his nose. "I won't go down that easily Eric."
"Hm, not bad. I'll end my turn by switching my Twin-Headed Behemoth into Defence Mode." I declared, failing to break through Calian's defence this turn. [Twin-Headed Behemoth: 1000/1000]
"My turn!" Calian said as he drew his card. "Time for my comeback, I summon Zombyra The Dark in Attack Mode!" The holograms summoned a monster that had some dark grey and dark blue armour on. The creature was grinning and honestly looked like he had been pulled from a comic book. [Zombyra The Dark - 2100/500]
"But that's not all, my two Warriors will get an increase in ATK because of The A. Forces!" [Zombyra The Dark ATK: 2100 – 2500]
[Armageddon Knight ATK: 1600 – 1800]
'This could get nasty real fast if it keeps up…' I thought, quickly thinking of a counter play to this. While I was lost in my thoughts, Calian moved to battle.
"Time to battle! Go Zombyra The Dark, attack and destroy Giga Gagagigo!" Zombyra The Dark was just able to beat over Giga Gagagigo, as he slashed right through him.
Eric LP: 4900 – 4850
"Looks like we both have awkward LP's now." I said with a low smile. "But, you seem to be forgetting something rather important. When Zombyra The Dark destroys a monster in battle, he loses 200 ATK!" [Zombyra The Dark ATK: 2500 – 2300]
"Yeah I know, but if I summon enough Warriors, then I can negate that decrease in power!" Calian countered. "But my Battle Phase isn't over yet. Go Armageddon Knight, destroy Twin-Headed Behemoth!" Armageddon Knight succeeded in destroying Twin-Headed Behemoth, banishing him due to his effect.
"I take it it's my move now?" I questioned, knowing that there was little else Calian could do. He bid me to go as he gestured with his hand. "Then I draw!"
Excellent. This card will help. "I activate Pot Of Greed! This will allow me to draw two more cards from my deck!" I said as I drew my new cards. One of them was a monster, but the other one was-
'…! This is one of the cards that I got from the discounted booster pack!' I realised as I recognised the card. 'I'll have to wait for just the right moment to use it. Calian won't see this sort of move coming.'
"I set on card facedown." I said as calmly as I could. "Next I'll set a monster facedown as well. That'll end my turn."
"My move!" Calian yelled with eagerness. He drew his card, swiping it off the top of his deck. Upon seeing what it was, a small thin smile broke out across his face. I was curious as to what it was, but I saw that Calian placed it to the far left in his hand. Perhaps this was a habit from playing at locals, but I noticed here that Calian usually played cards from right to left.
"I summon Sea Serpent Warrior Of Darkness!" Calian said as he summoned a third Warrior to his side of the field. This Warrior looked to be Warrior from the depths of the ocean, with purple scaled armour, and a spear that he wield. [Sea Serpent Warrior Of Darkness – 1800/1500]
"Now for the fun part! All my Warriors will gain extra ATK because of The A. Forces!"
[Sea Serpent Warrior Of Darkness ATK: 1800 – 2400]
[Zombyra The Dark ATK: 2300 - 2500]
[Armageddon Knight ATK: 1800 - 2000]
'Never thought I'd see that card being this troublesome.' I thought with an internal grumble. 'It was never an issue for me back when I Dueled before arriving here. Then again, who actually played a rogue Warrior Deck with no extra deck or combos?'
Calian suddenly cut me off from my thoughts. "Let's battle!" He cried with gusto. "Armageddon Knight will attack your facedown monster! Let's see if it'll survive." My facedown was revealed to be Familiar Knight. [Familiar Knight – 1200/1400] Unfortunately, he was indeed destroyed.
"Familiar Knight's effect activates! Now we can each special summon a LV4 monster from our hands! I summon Divine Dragon Ragnarok!" I summoned a pinkish coloured serpent that was in the form of a dragon. [Divine Dragon Ragnarok – 1500/1100]
"I summon this monster! Warrior Lady Of The Wasteland!" [Warrior Lady Of The Wasteland – 1100/1200] "Oh and how could I forget, all my Warriors will get an increase in ATK now!"
[Sea Serpent Warrior Of Darkness ATK: 2400 - 2600]

[Warrior Lady Of The Wasteland ATK: 1100 – 1900]
I grimaced. "Well, that's nasty alright..."
"Nasty is a real understatement! It's about to get worse! I'll destroy all your monsters and land a good hit on your LP's!" Calian stated. "Go Zombyra The Dark, destroy his facedown!" My facedown monster was revealed to be Des Feral Imp. [Des Feral Imp – 1600/1800]
"I activate Des Feral Imp's flip effect! I can add a card from my graveyard back into my deck and shuffle it! I choose Riryoku!" I added the card from my graveyard to my hand, as I then picked up my deck and shuffled it. Man, I couldn't wait until Duel Disks got an auto shuffle feature.
After I shuffled my deck, I slotted it back into my Duel Disk, and got ready to continue. "Remember, Zombyra The Dark will now lose 200 ATK!"
"Yeah, yeah, I know." Calian said with a sigh at the reminder. [Zombyra The Dark ATK: 2700 – 2500] Calian looked more than ready to keep going now. "Ok, let's keep up the pace! Warrior Lady Of The Wasteland, attack and destroy Divine Dragon Ragnarok!" Divine Dragon Ragnarok was destroyed, leaving me defenceless. "Alright, attack Eric directly Sea Serpent Warrior Of Darkness!"
I was powerless to stop Calian's Sea Warrior from flying forwards and striking me directly, as I skidded backwards quite a bit. Always weird how that worked… "Hmph."
Eric LP: 4850 – 2250
"Now, I end my turn there." Calian said, pleased at his efforts there.
I grimaced at seeing Calian's board right now. I never thought I'd see a strong board like this one when I arrived here. I always thought it'd be three monsters out at once, and that'd be if you were lucky. "You've built up quite the field of monsters there… It'd be a shame to destroy them all."
"Oh yeah?" Calian challenged. "Well let's see then! I dare you to destroy all my monsters this turn!" He said as he pointed a finger towards me.
"Game on." I agreed dryly.
"Well, uh, if you're going to do it, I'd prefer if you did it without something like Raigeki…" Calian muttered, suddenly hesitant.
I laughed. "I don't need Raigeki to destroy that board of monsters. Here we go! It's my turn!" I yelled as I drew my card.
"I activate, Graceful Charity! I draw three cards and then discard two cards!" Calian narrowed his eyes as he looked at my deck. I also looked down at it.
'Three cards here… one of them has to have a way out of this…' I thought, as I placed my fingers on the top three cards of my deck, before drawing them. I added them to my hand. Was it what I needed?
"…Perfect."
"Huh?! You actually got what you needed?!"
"More or less yes." I shrugged with a small smile that radiated confidence. "Now I'll discard Nin-Ken Dog and Victoria via the effect of Graceful Charity!"
I looked at the remaining three cards in my hand, as a grin broke out across my face. "You ready Calian? I doubt you've seen a monster like this before!"
"Bring it! No matter what monster you summon or set, it'll never break through all my monsters!" He argued with a serious look of determination.
"I activate… Polymerisation!"
"You play WHAT!?"
I smirked as the classic fusion card appeared on the field. "It's time to summon a monster unlike no other! I fuse Taladon The Warrior and Luster Dragon #2 to summon this almighty Monster!" I yelled, as Luster Dragon #2 and Taladon The Warrior appeared on my field, before they were sucked into the swirling vortex of fusion.
"From the cliffs of chaos, evolve now and show us all the power that you possess! Spread your wings and unleash annihilation upon all who would stand against us! Take flight, Taladon The Dragon Master!"
From the swirling fusion portal appeared a mighty dragon that was coloured jade. It had thick scales that were near impenetrable, and sharp talons that could crush the strongest wood. It's wings were long and strong, and the dragon had fierce fangs that shined a brilliant white. Riding the dragon was Taladon himself, clenching the reins tightly. [Taladon The Dragon Master – 2900/1500]
"He's here…" I said with a open smile.
"It can't be…! You have a Fusion Monster!? Those are super rare!" Calian said, jaw dropped at the reveal. "B-But even so! He can't defeat all my monsters this turn!"
"Wrong! When he's Fusion Summoned, Taladon The Dragon Master can banish one of his Fusion Materials and then he can attack all your monsters at once!"
"He can WHAT!?" Calian shouted with absurdity. He suddenly looked terrified at what I could do now, looking towards all his monsters.
"I banish Luster Dragon #2, meaning Taladon The Dragon Master will be attacking all your monsters this turn!" I declared loudly.
"Agh! All my monsters are still in Attack Mode!" Calian said with worry, as he began to realise the situation he was in. "The amount of damage I take will be huge!"
"Then you best get ready! Go Taladon The Dragon Master, attack and destroy Armageddon Knight!" Taladon The Dragon Master flew forwards as he launched a powerful fireball from his mouth that decimated Armageddon Knight. Calian held up his hand to protect himself from the holographic dust.
Calian LP: 4950 – 4250
"And now because a Warrior Type monster left your field, all your monsters lose 200 ATK points!"
[Sea Serpent Warrior Of Darkness ATK: 2600 – 2400]
[Zombyra The Dark ATK: 2500 - 2300]
[Warrior Lady Of The Wasteland ATK: 1900 – 1700]
"Next I'll destroy Sea Serpent Warrior Of Darkness!" I decided. Taladon The Dragon Master flew forwards and shattered Sea Serpent Warrior Of Darkness with a strike from his blade. Calian grimaced.
Calian LP: 4250 – 3750
"Once again all your monster will lose 200 ATK!" I shouted, watching the numbers decrease little by little.
[Zombyra The Dark ATK: 2300 - 2100]
[Warrior Lady Of The Wasteland ATK: 1700 - 1500]
Calian was rather fearful now. "No…!"
"Now I'll attack Zombyra The Dark!" I cried, as Taladon swooped up into the air and plunged downward to shred Zombyra The Dark into pieces with his powerful claws. Calian gritted his teeth.
Calian LP: 3750 – 2950
"And now for the final ATK decrease!" I said, as Warrior Lady Of The Wasteland lost more ATK.
[Warrior Lady Of The Wasteland ATK: 1500 – 1300]
"Now it's time for the final attack! Go Taladon The Dragon Master, attack Warrior Lady Of The Wasteland with Drakonic Burst!"
Taladon The Dragon Master fired off his most powerful blast of fire yet, as it completely pulverised Warrior Lady Of The Wasteland. Calian was sent skidding back quite a bit due to the shockwave.
Calian LP: 2950 – 1350
'I got rid of all his monsters.' I thought with relief. 'Calian could activate Warrior Lady Of The Wasteland's ability, but I doubt he would. He wouldn't want to take any more dam-'
"I activate the effect of Warrior Lady Of The Wasteland!" Calian shouted as he raised his hand.
'What? He's actually using it?' I thought with major surprise. 'That will only cost him more damage!'
"When she's destroyed, I can special summon an EARTH monster from my deck with 1500 or less ATK in Attack Position! I summon Obnoxious Celtic Guardian!"
To Calian's side of the field appeared the warrior elf that Yugi began using around halfway into Battle City. [Obnoxious Celtic Guardian – 1400/1200] The A. Forces raised his ATK by 200 points. [Obnoxious Celtic Guardian ATK: 1400 – 1600]
"I see. You summoned that monster as he can't be destroyed in battle by a monster with over 1900 ATK." I muttered with realisation. "Not bad, but you'll still be taking damage! Attack Taladon The Dragon Master!"
Obnoxious Celtic Guardian withstood the burst of fire that was shot out of Taladon The Dragon Master. Calian however, was sent flying backwards off his feet. He let out a cry as he landed on the ground.
Calian LP: 1350 - 50
'…Shit. I didn't seriously hurt him, right?' I thought with worry.
Calian immediately jumped back up onto his feet. "Haha! Not bad, but I'm still in this Duel!"
'Nah, he's good.' I thought with amusement. The durability of Yu-Gi-Oh humans was something to behold.
"You only have 50 LP's left. Even a gust of wind could take you down." I addressed Calian with a small chuckle. "Even if a comeback is even possible at this point, I'd be surprised to see you pull one off."
"I end my turn. It's your move now." I said, curious as to what Calian would do here.
"My move!" Calian yelled as he drew his card. He gave a hardened look as he saw it. "I place a monster facedown and switch my Obnoxious Celtic Guardian into Defence Mode. [Obnoxious Celtic Guardian – 1600/1200] "That'll end my turn!"
"That's all? Oh what a shame…" I muttered sarcastically as I drew my card. "I'll activate this card, The Warrior Returning Alive! I can add back a Warrior Type monster from my graveyard to my hand, and I chose Taladon The Warrior! Next I'll normal summon him!" [Taladon The Warrior – 1700/1400]
Calian looked frustrated by that. This monster could thankfully destroy his Obnoxious Celtic Guardian. But before that…
"Now I activate the effect of my Taladon The Dragon Master!" I said loudly.
"What? But how? He only had the one effect when he was Fusion Summoned!" Calian gawked with shock.
"What made you think that?" I smirked. Calian was aghast, while I was grinning. "I couldn't use this effect when he was Fusion Summoned, so I'll use it now! It allows me to banish the top card from my graveyard, then I can destroy a card on the field that matches the type that I banished!"
"Agh, no!" Calian shouted with worry at that reveal.
"I'll be banishing the spell, The Warrior Returning Alive, so goodbye The A. Forces!" I shouted as the ever-troublesome spell card was destroyed. [Obnoxious Celtic Guardian ATK: 1600 – 1400] Calian was distraught by that.
"No! That cards so useful! Why'd it have to go…" He sighed solemnly, dipping his head a little.
"That's just how the game works I'm afraid." I answered with a shrug. "But I'm afraid this game is coming to a close! Go Taladon The Warrior, attack and destroy Obnoxious Celtic Guardian!"
Obnoxious Celtic Guardian was destroyed as Taladon The Warrior overpowered him a sword slash. Now there was only one monster left. "Here goes, attack his facedown monster Taladon The Dragon Master!" Taladon The Dragon Master swooped forwards and struck the facedown monster with his claws, revealing it to be…
[Cyber Jar: 900/900]
"AGH! Not Cyber Jar! You gotta be kidding me!" I yelled in anger and worry. "You seriously topdecked that?!"
Calian had a mischievous grin. "Don't know exactly what you mean by topdecking this monster, but you're right to be worried! Cyber Jar destroys all monsters on the field!"
Cyber Jar opened up its hatch, as strong guts of air began to suck both of monsters inside of it. They struggled, but it was no use. Cyber Jar used the last of its energy to destroy both my monsters, before he was then destroyed. The field was now empty, but not for long.
"Just hold on! When my Taladon The Dragon Master goes to the graveyard, I can add back one monster that has the name 'Taladon' in it to my hand!" I stated. "I choose Taladon The Warrior!"
"How many effects does that guy have?!" Calian cried, holding his hands on his head.
"Heh, that's the last one…" I noted, adding my Taladon The Warrior back to my hand.
"Now Cyber Jar's other effect activates." Calain said quickly, as he looked at his deck. "We reveal the top five cards of our deck and summon any monsters that are LV4 or lower in either Attack or Defence Mode, including facedown Defence Position. Then we can add any cards that weren't monsters to our hand afterwards."
"I know how the card works." I said, holding my fingers on top of my deck. "But I only need to deal 50 points of damage to you to win the Duel! This'll be easy!"
We both revealed the top five cards of our deck and summoned our monsters.
"Here we go! I summon Mad Sword Beast in Attack Mode, Gagagigo in Attack Mode, Masked Sorcerer in Defence Mode and Dark Blade in Attack Mode!" I cried as I summoned my four monsters to my field; all of them ready to fight. The other card that I added could be one final trump card if things went sour…

[Dark Blade – 1800/1500]
Calian was next to summon his monsters to the field. "I summon these two monsters in Attack Mode! Crimson Sentry and Warrior Dai Grepher! Next I'll summon Command Knight in Defence Mode and this monster in facedown Defence Mode!"

[Crimson Sentry – 1500/1200]
[Warrior Dai Grepher – 1700/1600]
"Oh yeah… Command Knight is gonna raise the ATK of all Warrior monsters on my field by 400 points!" Calian stated as he clenched his fist with eagerness.
[Command Knight ATK: 1200 - 1600]
[Crimson Sentry ATK: 1500 - 1900]
[Warrior Dai Grepher ATK: 1700 - 2100]
"Well, that's great… I'm suddenly getting a sense of major déjà vu…" I muttered with annoyance. "And I can't even attack Command Knight because of her effect…"
"Don't forget that I get to add that fifth card that I saw from my deck to my hand." Calian said as he added that mysterious card to his hand. "Now, is your turn finished yet?"
"…Yes it is…" I said, hardening my expression. I'd have rather not attacked that facedown monster.
"My… MOVE!" Calian said as he drew his card with an energetic grin. He added his card to his hand before he began his assault. "First I'll switch my Command Knight into Attack Mode!" [Command Knight – 1600/1900] "Next, I'll flip up my facedown monster, Little-Winguard!" [Little-Winguard – 1400/1800] [Little-Winguard ATK: 1400 – 1800]
'If I had attacked Little-Winguard I could have gotten over it!' I thought with anger at my hesitation. 'That can't certainly cost me the duel.' I kept my gaze hard as Calian got ready to battle.
"Now it's time to battle!" Calian shouted with energy. "Go Command Knight, destroy Masked Sorcerer!" Masked Sorcerer was destroyed, but I thankfully took no damage. That was going to change though…
"Crimson Sentry, attack and destroy Dark Blade!" Dark Blade was quickly destroyed, as I took damage.
Eric LP: 2250 - 2150

"Argh, not bad… I'll give you that Calian." I admitted. "But you'll have to do better than that!"
"Oh I will!" Calian grinned as he seemed to end his Battle Phase. What was he planning? "I tribute Little-Winguard and my Crimson Sentry to summon my Sword Hunter in Attack Mode!" [Sword Hunter – 2450/1700] [Sword Hunter ATK: 2450 – 2850]
'Great… now Sword Hunter is on the field…' I thought with concern.
"I'll end my turn by setting a card facedown on the field." Calian declared, as I saw an empty facedown spell or trap slot now occupy a mysterious card. Was that the card that he had drawn via Cyber Jar?
"My move! I draw!" I shouted as I drew a card that could hopefully save me here. Upon looking down at what I drew, I breathed a sigh of relief.
"This will buy me some time. I play Swords Of Revealing Light!" I shouted as brightly coloured golden swords came flying down to block off Calian's monsters.
"Where'd you get a rare card like that?" Calian wondered with interest.
"None of your business." I said smugly.
'Thank you, Duke Devlin. I owe you for letting me take that booster pack even though it technically wasn't for sale in your store.' I thought, giving thanks to the owner that I met a few hours ago. It actually felt like it had been days since I saw him. Today has been busy for me.
"Anyways, I'll end my turn by summoning Taladon The Warrior in Defence Mode." I said, summoning the little warrior to do his best at protecting me. [Taladon The Warrior – 1700/1400]
"My move!" Calian shouted as he drew his card. "I play, Monster Reborn! Now I can bring back a Monster from my graveyard, and I choose my Total Defence Shogun!" Calian shouted as he brought back one of the first cards that he played this Duel. [Total Defence Shogun – 1550/2500] [Total Defence Shogun ATK: 1550 – 1950]
"I end my turn." Calian said, looking determined.
"My move!" I said, drawing my card and looking at it. I had just drawn Gogiga Gagagigo.
'Eric's ace monster. I'd say mine is Taladon The Swordsman.' I thought, looking at the card. 'If I could only tribute monsters to summon him, he'd be strong enough to finish this Duel!'
"Ack, I end my turn!" I said, annoyed at my lack of progress right now.
Calian grinned like a maniac, almost tasting the victory that was a few turns away. "Then it's my move! I draw!" Calian looked at his card. "Yes! I tribute Command Knight and Warrior Dai Grepher to summon my strongest monster, Gilford The Legend!" Gilford The Legend was summoned onto Calian's field, standing alongside his other powerful monsters. [Gilford The Legend – 2600/2000] At the very least, Command Knight left the field so the ATK of Calian's warriors decreased. [Sword Hunter ATK: 2950 – 2450] [Total Defence Shogun ATK: 1950 – 1550]
'Then again… This is a really bad situation I'm in right now…' I figured, looking up at the monsters that Calian held on his field.

'Swords Of Revealing Light won't last much longer.' I thought with a pang of paranoia. 'I only have two turns left until they're gone. Then I've only got one then turn to try and survive somehow. If I get a Warrior Type monster on my next draw phase and then Taladon The Swordsman on my next turn, I could win this Duel!'
"My turns over." Calian said, very happy at his field of monsters. "This is the secon - I mean first time someone has lasted long enough against me to the point where I've gotten all three of my ace monsters out on the field." He commended with a happy grin.
"Despite the back and forth we've been having here, I've really enjoyed this Duel." I said with an equally happy look. "You've played great Calian."
Calian kept his grin as he scratched the back of his head in embarrassment. "Aw, you really mean that?"
"Hell yeah I do." I reinforced lightly. "You have some pretty good monsters on your field right now. It's quite impressive. But I still have time to turn this Duel around! It's my move!" I declared, not giving up yet. "I draw!"
I just drew Mefist The Infernal General. Good. If I draw Taladon The Swordsman on my next turn, I could win this Duel easily! Calian only has 50 LP's left, so any attack could finish him off.
"Alright, I end my turn here. It's back to you." I stated to Calian, trying to remain calm. Calian of course, looked more and more giddy with each turn that went by of me simply passing.
"My move!" Calian said as he drew his card and looked at it.
Calian lowered his head as he smiled. Then he began to chuckle lowly.
I raised an eyebrow. "…What?"
"I'm finally getting to use these two cards! I needed both of them for this strategy of mine to work. It's some of the cards that I added into my deck just before we began this Duel!" Calian gave off a sneaky look, as his eyes glinted with excitement.
"So these cards that you're about to play are the ones that you added in…? Well let's see what they are!" I said, challenging Calian to impress me here.
"The first card is this, Dark Designator! Now I declare the name of a card, and if that card is in your deck, you have to add it to your hand!" Calian said, before he pointed a finger at me. "And I choose, Taladon The Swordsman!"
"Gee thanks." I said dryly, as I looked through my deck, adding the one card I needed to my hand. "You've just secured your defeat here. I'll summon Taladon next turn and win the Duel!" I said confidently. But I was still confused about one thing.
"Why'd you add him to my hand? What would be the point of… No… You didn't-!?"
"Here's my second card, Pillager!" Calian shouted as he played his spell card.
'That's the card that Bandit Keith used against Joey in Duelist Kingdom!' I thought with wide eyes. 'I guess I should have accounted for cards that were never officially released in the TCG or OCG! This card is basically a one-sided Exchange…'
"Now you can take a card from my hand!" I let out a grunt of distain. "This was your plan from the get-go? Wait for Dark Designator and then use Pillager to take the card that's won me my two Duels so far in this tournament?"
'Because… it's not a bad plan at all.' I thought with begrudging admittance. 'If Calian takes Taladon The Swordsman from me, I may not be able to win this Duel… But… I may still have a wild card so to speak.' I looked to my deck, before back up at Calian.
Calian walked over to me, and immediately took my Taladon The Swordsman. He didn't even bother looking at my other cards. "Don't worry, I'll give him back to you after this Duel is over." He assured me with a smile. "Still though, I can't see how you'd win this now."
"…We'll see about that." I replied with caution in my words. Calian left as he walked back to his side of the Dueling Area. "Now, is your turn over?"
"Yeah, it is. And Swords Of Revealing Light are destroyed as well!" As Calian ended his turn, the magical swords that had protected me vanished, leaving me nearly defenceless. Now I only had one monster on my field, a facedown trap and three cards in my hand.
"I will tell you this Calian: This draw will decide the Duel. Are you ready?"
"Yeah. Bring it!"
"Ok then!" I declared as I pressed my fingers down hard on my deck. "I… DRAW!"
I flicked my card upwards to see what I got. "Excellent."
"This Duel is over Calian." I said simply. "You put up a fantastic fight. But it's all over now."
"What? What did you draw?!" Calian asked with worry. "Not another Polymerisation…!?"
"No. It's the other method of summoning! I activate the Ritual Spell, Taladon's Knighthood!"
"R-Ritual!? You have a Ritual Monster!?"
"I just drew him there." I answered with a shrug as a ritual circle appeared on my Duel Field. "Now prepare as I summon a mighty monster that has no equal! I offer LV8 Gogiga Gagagigo to Ritual Summon this monster!"
"Gallup forwards and make your power and authority known to all who dare stays against you! You fought this hard and made it this far for your friends and family. They're all counting on you, and so am I; Gallup forwards, Taladon The Galloping Knight!"
Out from the ritual circle emerged a mighty knight who rode a proud stallion that was maned white. The man riding him wore some bright silver armour and held a powerful sword that was holstered at his side – It was Taladon, stronger, older and more determined than ever. [Taladon The Galloping Knight – 2700/2500]
"A Ritual Monster…" Calian wowed. His mind then focused back on what was really important here. "Argh! He's stronger than all my monsters!"
"Meaning he can win me the Duel! But first his effect activates!" I proclaimed holding a hand up into the air. "Taladon The Galloping Knight gains ATK equal to the ATK of one of the monsters used as for its Ritual Summon!"
"Oh no!" Calian said with fear as his eyes widened.
"Oh yes! Taladon gains the ATK of my Gogiga Gagagigo!" I cried as Taladon The Galloping Knight grew stronger. [Taladon The Galloping Knight ATK: 2700 – 5650]
"It's time to battle! Go Taladon The Galloping Knight! Charge forwards and strike down Gilford The Legend!" I shouted as much energy as I could muster. Taladon charged forwards, with his sword drawn.
"No! I refuse to let it end like this!" Calian declared as he clenched his fist. "I'm mere steps away from entering Battle City! I won't lose this Duel! I activate the trap, Clash Of The Titans!"
'I've never see that card before!' I thought with shock, causing me to freeze for a second. 'What the hell does it do!?'
"This card can only be activated when a Warrior Type monster I control attacks, or is attacked by a monster with higher ATK than it. This lets me target my monster and then tribute one other monster on my field. Then the monster I targeted will gain ATK equal to the tributed monsters ATK or DEF – whichever was higher!"
"What?!" I shouted with absurdity. "That's crazy!"
Calian grinned with triumph at his trap's power. "Oh, it is alright! I got this card for my birthday a few years ago! And now I'll use it to enter Battle City! I target my Gilford The Legend and tribute my Total Defence Shogun! Now Gilford gains ATK equal to the DEF of Total Defence Shogun!" Calian cried as Total Defence Shogun was tributed, while Gilford The Legend grew more powerful. [Gilford The Legend ATK: 2600 – 5100]
"A good effort, but it's still not enough! Keep going Taladon The Galloping Knight!" I ordered, holding out my hand with determination as Taladon kept gallantly dashing forwards on his horse.
"You're right, it isn't enough. So I'll use the other effect of Clash Of The Titans while it's in my graveyard!" Calian shouted loudly, holding out a hand to match mine.
"What?! It has a graveyard effect?!" I exclaimed with shock, retracting my hand for a moment.
"Yes! By discarding a Warrior Type monster from my hand, I can immediately set this card facedown on my field again! And I can activate it the turn it was set! The only downside is that it will be banished when it leaves the field." Calian explained, looking to his hand. "Now I'll discard your Taladon The Swordsman to reset my card, and immediately activate it again!"
"You know the effect by now I'm sure; I'll tribute Sword Hunter and add his ATK to my Gilford! Grow stronger Gilford The Legend!" As Sword Hunter was sacrificed, his ATK was added to Gilford, making him even stronger than he was before. [Gilford The Legend ATK: 5100 – 7550] "It looks like you'll be the one who was overpowered!"
"No!" I argued, stunning Calian. "There's still hope for me here! I use the final effect of Taladon The Galloping Knight! I can tribute one monster on my field, and Taladon The Galloping Knight gains ATK equal to half of the ATK of the tributed monster! I tribute my Taladon The Warrior!" Taladon The Warrior was tributed, as Taladon The Galloping Knight grew stronger. [Taladon The Galloping Knight ATK: 5650 – 6500]
"That was useless! It's still not enough!" Calian shouted in frustration. He was seething at how close and yet so far he was from victory.
"I didn't tribute my Taladon for no reason! The effect of Taladon's Knighthood activates from the graveyard! I banish this card and a Taladon monster with 2000 or less ATK from my graveyard, to make the ATK of two monsters battling this turn equal to the monster with the highest ATK on the field!" I yelled with determination. "My Taladon's ATK will become equal to the ATK of your Gilford The Legend!"
"But that means they'll both be destroyed! We won't have any monsters left on the field!" Calian protested at my decision, yet it was no use.

Both of our monsters finally met together as they clashed into each other. Gilford was able to land a critical blow on Taladon, while he was able to slash Gilford across the chest. Both were destroyed, as a large explosion of holographic dust clouded the field.
Calian grunted. "Now none of us have any monsters…! But you'll have to end your turn! I'm sure I'll draw a monster on my next turn…!"
"There won't be a next turn." I announced as the dust began to fade.
"Wha-?!" Calian asked with bafflement. Calian watched carefully as the dust faded, and then he saw it. "Ah! That trap card, it's-!"
The trap that I revealed showed a robber who had a large green hat and cloak over him. He had a grave and a shovel on his back. He was grinning mischievously to himself.
"The trap card, Graverobber." I answered. "It allows me to take a spell from your graveyard and activate it." Graverobber appeared and held up a card that Calian had previously used.
Calian saw what the card was. "I see… You chose Monster Reborn…"
He sighed with some sadness as he dropped his head a little and lowered his Duel Disk. I spoke up. "Monster Reborn allows me to summon a monster from either players graveyard, and I choose, Taladon The Swordsman!"
To my side of the field appeared Taladon The Swordsman. He held his sword high and kept his usual confident and happy look. [Taladon The Swordsman – 2200/1900] Calian nodded. "All I can say is… well done Eric."
"…Go Taladon The Swordsman! Attack Calian directly! Heroic Slash!" Taladon leapt forwards as he struck Calian directly, sending him flying backwards.
Calian let out no cry of defeat as he flew back, landing on the ground. He had lost. And he knew there was nothing he could have done.

'Good game Calian.' I thought with a smile, as I lowered my Duel Disk.
"The winner of this Duel is Eric Yuriko!" The referee spluttered, before he ran off to speak to his two colleagues. Not entirely caring about them right now, I walked over to see Calian.
"Hey Calian? You alright?" I asked as I saw him lying down, with his head facing the open roof of the stadium. The sun was setting now. Calian had his eyes closed, and he had an unreadable expression. I crouched down to speak to him.
"Hey man… you good?" I questioned carefully.
"… I can't believe I lost…"
"Erm, sorry about that…?" I replied awkwardly, not sure how to answer. Nearly all my recent games before coming here were online, so you never really get a response from the loser other than a thumbs up or thumbs down.
"…Nah."
"Don't be sorry!" Calian opened his eyes as he leapt up immediately. He nearly fell over again, so I had to grab him. Calian literally just started laughed. "Man, that was amazing! I can't remember the last time I had a Duel that close before! I love it when I get into back-and-forth Duels, you'll never know what will happen!"
"Oh! Well, yes me too!" I answered, happy he wasn't too upset. "Makes it more exciting than a Duel where one player completely trumps the other in a single turn."
Calian nodded as he stood up straight now, me standing up straight as well. "You played a great Duel Eric! Those Fusion and Ritual Monsters were amazing! I know some people in my neighbourhood that'd go crazy just seeing them! I mean, I could definitely name one guy!"
I laughed awkwardly as I scratched my head. "Yes, you played a great game as well Calian! And I even got my Taladon The Swordsman back in the end as well. So I guess you could say that everything worked out well in the end."
"Sorry about snatching your card like that… It just seemed like such a good strategy that I could execute…" Calian apologised.
"No, don't apologise for that!" I waved the worry aside giving him a light slap on the back. "Honestly I'm not mad at all! I was impressed by that Pillager card you used, and the strategy really took me by surprise as well!"
Calian seemed to cheer up about that. "Ah, thanks. It's not really seen as a nice thing when you take someone else's card. Things can get pretty dicey pretty quickly…"
"That'll normally be because nearly no-one will know if you're going to try and win the card off of them. You get a lot of people that start to wager cards for no reason. It can create quite the misconception about the strategy." I explained. Quite a few Duelists came to mind about the subject of wagering and stealing cards…
"By the way, think you could tell me more about that trap you used? Clash Of The Titans it was called?" I asked as casually as I could. This was something that definitely grabbed my attention.
"Oh, it was a card I got at Christmas a few years ago. My parents gave it to me because I just started Dueling a few weeks before then." Calian answered happily. He looked like he was looking back over his memories, with some fondness in them.
"…How old are you exactly?"
"Hey, I'm fifteen! Turning sixteen later this year!" Calian said with some danger in his words. "Don't tell me that you thought I was eleven years old this entire time! I always get belittled and ashamed when people think that I look a lot younger than I actually am! And don't get me started on my-"
"Hey hey, take it easy." I chuckled, trying to calm the kid down.
Huh. What age was Yugi again? Dark Side Of Dimensions shows him graduating, and that takes place only six months after the original series concludes. So I would think that he's eighteen years old… or maybe he's just turning eighteen? Fucking hell, if he is actually eighteen years old, then he is without a doubt the shortest eighteen-year-old boy I've ever seen. At least he shoots up towards the end of the series.
Calian did calm down as he rubbed his face. "Ah, anyway it sucks about Battle City, but I guess that in the end, you were the better Duelist." He admitted.
"…Hey, about Battle City. I kinda-"
"Alright hand over the Duel Disks!"
"Huh-?" "Wha-?"
Me and Calian turned and saw all three of the KaibaCorp employees standing looking quite impatient. They had the other two Duel Disks in the cases that they originally brought here. What was interesting was that one of the employees was typing quickly on a laptop and was clicking quite a few times. He looked paranoid, fearful.
"So that's this experiment over then?" I wondered, addressing the man that just addressed us. "So how did we do then? Did we impress whoever was interested in this?"
"Hey, just give us the Duel Disks already! We have a right to retrieve them!" One of the employees interrupted, holding out his hands with a grimace on his face. "We'll make sure to tell Mr Kaiba that you'll make it into Battle City Mr-Who-Ever-You-Are. Now we just need the Duel Disks!"
"You know I've been thinking that somethings not just right here." I began, stepping away from the three employees, Calian watching with interest. "It just feels weird to me that Seto Kaiba, president of KaibaCorp would actually ask for the publics help when it comes to testing something. He'd much rather test it himself… or get a dog to do it for him."
"What are you trying to say?! We aren't anyone's dogs! We've been loyal KaibaCorp members ever since we joined way back at the beginning of the companies rise to fame!" One of the employees argued.
"Who was the previous CEO?" I questioned with a tilt of my head.
All three of the employees crammed up as they looked nervous. Like, wow; they may as well be sweating buckets right now. "You know, I took acting and drama as classes back in High School. I can tell a good actor from a fake one. You guys might be the worst actors I've ever seen." I said with disappointment.
One of the employees clenched their fists. "Alright listen hear you! Hand over the Duel Disk or we're calling the police here!"
"NOBODY MOVE!"
The five of jumped as we heard that booming voice. It sounded like it was coming from a megaphone. I quickly beckoned Calian to come join me by my side. Didn't want him near these guys. He did so, and I then heard a loud whirring sound.
We all looked up and we saw a KaibaCorp branded helicopter coming down into the stadium. Though the windows were shaded, I think I saw Roland sitting next to the person who was driving it.
But that wasn't really what caught my eye – or rather who.
The door to the helicopter was open, and someone was standing on the leg of the helicopter while holding onto the railing that was on the side of the aircraft. Well shit, I guess this must be serious then.
Wearing the same clothes as he did in Battle City, maintaining a fully calm and confident look, was none other than Seto Kaiba. Instead of looking at the three employees who were definitely the more suspicious people here, he was looking at me directly, with a stern look in his eyes.
