Jade's Pov- I couldn't see much nor remember much of anything. As soon as Max yelled out Jefferson's name that was basically it. However, my body must have instinctively known that Max was in immediate danger, as I started to regain consciousness. As I opened my eyes, Max was holding my hand with tears in her eyes. Apologizing to me that she couldn't get the baby and I out of here. Those were the last words she spoke to me before I lost her.
"Y-You killed her..." I mutter out trying to regain consciousness.
"No, Max can't be dead." He once again tries to shake Max awake but fails.
"You killed her... you killed her... you killed her..."
Jefferson approaches me, stepping in Max's blood leaving behind bloody shoe prints. He pushes my slumped over head to look up at him.
"You want to be killed next?"
"You can't kill m-me. I have your f-fucking child in me..." He looked at me disgusted by my statement.
"Jade... you really believe I'm going to let you live? Especially with that whore of a baby you got by fucking me? Heh, I don't fucking think so."
Jefferson walks over to the trolley, takes a syringe, and fills it with the drug he'd been using on me. However, this time it looked like a lethal dose he drew from the vial. Slowly, he approached back over to me. I squirmed and tried to break free of my restraints.
"Don't bother to struggle, Jade. You were only a pawn to get me my queen. The more you struggle, the worse you're going to go out."
No, no, no, no, no. Max, please. If you can hear me, I need you, now more than ever. Please Max, please get up from the floor. Please... for us.
"Say hi to that punk bitch and whore for me..."
Stab
"You fucking bitch!"
There Max was, behind Jefferson with my knife stabbed right into his back. She pulls it out and stabs him again, again, again, and again. Max was functioning off her adrenaline as she kept stabbing Jefferson repeatedly.
"Max!"
She looked up at me with complete shock, as my face showed fear and concern. Max looked down at her hands seeing the bloody knife and Jefferson barely breathing on the floor.
Max got up off the floor and over to me, as she began freeing me from my restraints.
"Jade. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. You shouldn't have seen any of that. We need to get out of here and you need to get checked out. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so s-"
I grabbed hold of Max's hand to calm her down.
"Babe, it's okay. We're okay. I need to get you to a hospital. You've lost a lot of blood. The only reason you're talking to me right now is because of the adrenaline running through you right now."
"Y-Yeah, you're right."
Max undid my other restraints and I got up from being strapped down in that chair. I looked over at Max who was about to lose her footing. I quickly grabbed hold of her before she toppled over.
"Easy, Max. I got you."
Jefferson laid in his own blood, not moving.
Fuck you bastard. I hope you rot in fucking hell.
Once we reached the surface of the barn, I quickly got us out and got Max in the truck's passenger seat.
"Jade..."
"Don't speak Max. Save your breath. I'll get us out of here."
I climbed into the driver's side and started the truck. I drove away from the barn, hoping this would be the last time we ever saw this place.
Max reaches over to grab my hand, as I quickly get her to the hospital. I held her hand in mine, reassuring her everything will be okay.
"We're almost there, Max. Just hang on a little bit longer." I kept glancing over at her and the road.
"T-The baby... is it o-okay?"
"The baby is fine. They're tough just like their mom."
Max smiled softly, "That she is..."
I felt the life leaving from Max. I squeezed her hand in mine to keep her awake and alert.
"No, no. Come on, Max. Stay with me. Stay with us."
"I told you... that, I would die for... you."
"I know you would, just not now. I need you. This baby needs us."
I kept squeezing Max's hand to keep her alert, as we finally reached the hospital. I parked near the ambulance bay and hurried out of the truck to grab Max. Two EMTs saw me and helped me get Max on a stretcher they unloaded.
"What happened ma'am?" One of them asked.
"She was stabbed with a knife trying to save me from my kidnapper. Is she going to be okay?"
"I'm not sure. We don't know the extent of her injuries. She needs to be assessed in the hospital."
The two EMTs rolled Max into the elevator and headed to the 3rd floor of the hospital. I followed behind them closely down the surgical hallway.
"Jade..." Max called out to me.
"What is it, Max?"
"Please... don't leave me. I'm sorry... for everything... what happened to you and... Chloe."
"I'm never leaving you, Max. I'm right here by your side. You just need to hang in there, you're going to be okay."
I held onto Max's hand tight as she was wheeled to the doors of the operating rooms. A nurse stopped me and I let go of Max.
"Sorry ma'am. Only surgeons are allowed beyond this point."
"Please save her. She's the only person left in my life. I can't live without her." I begged the nurse, tears falling from my face.
"We'll do everything we can. Go wait in the waiting room and I'll keep you updated on her progress."
The nurse then went through the doors of the operating rooms. Leaving me standing by the doors, looking through the glass window.
I was covered in Max's blood as I sat in the waiting room, hoping to receive news about Max. So many thoughts ran through my head as I sat there... waiting. However, all those thoughts were outweighed by one, Max.
I'm sure this is how Max felt when she was waiting for me to awaken. If the feds never gave Jeffershit that deal, none of this would have happened. Max and I would be back at the dorms, spending time with one another... and our baby.
I looked down at my baby bump, knowing that it grew a bit the time I was in the hospital. I must have eventually dozed off as I found myself being awakened by a nurse. I quickly stood up on my feet and asked what happened.
"How's Max? Is she okay?"
"She's lost a lot of blood. Where she was stabbed it nicked the artery. She's coding and the doctor is trying to revive her right now."
"Oh God. Please... you have to save her, please." I held my mouth from disbelief as tears rolled down my face.
I fell to the floor as I was overwhelmed with guilt, crying and praying for Max to be okay.
Oh God. Please Max. You need to make it. I need you, we need you. Please don't leave us, not yet, we need you with us. We can't lose you like we lost Chloe. Please... no...
