Lightwing

Flashback Chapter

He climbed the rough mountains and crossed the border to see Snowfox and her little group, waiting for him with a bunch of angry faces.

"What took you so long? And why were you unsuccessful?" Snowfox said first.

"Complications arose, ensued, were overcome. Turns out that the NightWings don't like it when a dragon they thought was trustworthy betrays them," Lightwing explained.

"So, what happened?" Snowfox asked.

Lightwing lowered his head and pointed to the spot where Darkstalker drove the spear through his head.

The IceWings gasped at the sight, some of them asking amongst themselves how he had survived it.

Snowfox approached him, holding chains. "Queen Diamond will figure out a punishment for you, you will very much deserve whatever she chooses. You did botch the entire operation after all," she said, starting to wrap the chains around Lightwing's talons.

"Sticks and stones, love. I saved your life, you save mine. We're square," he said, backing away, this was going to be good.

Snowfox tried to pull him back towards her but failed because the chains weren't tight enough yet.

"Gentlemen, my lady," Lightwing started, spreading his wings, "you will always remember this as the day that you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow!"

He shot a quick blast of fire at all the IceWings and took flight.

Queen Diamond

She dragged her new torture device through the cave and whistled a cheerful tune, it was about the forty-first time killing Foeslayer. Oh, happy days.

But there was a new dragon, standing right beside Foeslayer.

"What... and who is that?" she mumbled to herself.

She took a cautious step closer to the mysterious dragon, he was wearing some kind of ridiculous brown hat on his head. And carrying a letter... Addressed to her...

She took the letter out of his claws and started to read it.

Hello grandmother, the dragon standing in front of you is Prince Lightwing... Me.

I understand that you must be very confused, but that's a whole story that I don't feel like putting in writing.

Queen Diamond noticed the spear lying next to Lightwing's claws.

I brought you a coconut from the Sand Kingdom, turns out that it's hard to make a purchase with ten angry IceWings chasing you! Haha

Ah yes, pardon my manners, the IceWings won the war because of me, granted that I failed in my mission to lure out the NightWing army outside the border...

Anyways... Can I keep the hat? That's the only request that I ask of you; I just want to keep the hat.

P.S. Just to mess with her, tell Snowfox that I say hello.

Suddenly her appetite of killing Foeslayer had completely diminished, so she unfroze Lightwing instead.

The ice cracked, and then broke completely, Lightwing seemed surprised.

"Oh!" He looked at his tail and offered her the coconut, Diamond took it and placed it behind her.

"I'm going to be completely honest, I wasn't expecting you to unfreeze me..." Lightwing adjusted his hat. "So... What did you want to talk about? Or did you just want to kill me?"

"Tell me how you got here."

"Wow. Straightforward, right to the point... So, it was all going according to your plan; I got into the barracks and tried to convince them to leave the border, but somehow Prince Bloodseeker knew what I did in the battle... Killed the general and all that, so he knocks me unconscious, and I wake up in a dark room where he interrogates me, and then Darkstalker takes me to a stage in Queen Vigilance's palace where I'm charged with my crimes and 'killed'," he showed Diamond a blue spot on his head that was slowly turning black. "So, they put a spear right through my head... Thanks for the save, so I wake up moons know how long after and I fly over here... I also made Snowfox angry for reasons that you will only discover after asking her, I won't tell you, blah, blah, blah, I'm here now."

"And what of my son?"

"He's dead... Ask any NightWing how he died, they'll tell you, I was not present though."

Diamond picked the spear back up and stabbed Lightwing, freezing him, she noticed that he took the liberty of putting the bracelets on himself.

"Goodbye Queen Diamond," Lightwing said, saying his final words before she would put in place the Diamond Trial.
