The briefing room fell silent as Ros and Harry entered. The usual chatter amongst the younger members of team had vanished as the news that Erin may have been the intended victim all along sank in. Malcolm swore under his breath as Ros pushed herself away from the wall. Beth bit her lip, deep in thought as Ruth pulled up images of the now destroyed bakery.

"Thirteen years ago Matthew Reed was driving home from Glasgow after a case involving a drug trafficking ring. He was SCO on the case for Six." Ruth started. "Well liked, good officer. Had worked in Berlin, Moscow and had been back in the UK for a few months."

"According to his records." Catherine joined in . "There was nothing different about the day he was killed."

"Blown cover?" Lucas glared at the screen.

"No evidence of that." Ruth paused. "But he was driving Erin's car. She was on maternity leave- pregnant with Rosie."

"So? It was mistaken identity?" Zoe felt sick as Harry nodded.

"So it would seem."

"And they waited over a decade to try again? Really?" Will raised an eyebrow. "Sorry, but I don't buy it."

"Perhaps now is the only time that they have been able to get to her." Zoe shrugged. "If it was someone wanting revenge? I mean we can assume Tariq was caught in the crossfire as were the other victims."

"I've pulled Erin's old cases from before she joined us." Catherine pushed herself back.

"Anthony Guy." Ruth stated.

"Go on." Ros frowned.

"Former Irish Paramilitary was arrested following a joint MI6 and PSNI operation. Erin worked on it with Calum. He was a bomb maker. Special interest in blowing up the cars belonging to politicians and police officers."

"Nice guy." Adam narrowed his eyes. Ruth nodded.

"Yes, a gentleman." Ruth replied, sarcasm lacing her voice. "Died in prison. Three years ago."

"So?" Harry glanced at Ruth, knowing that she would have more to say.

"He was convicted of murdering three people. Alison Hughes - the wife of a local councillor, James O'Grady - a journalist from Belfast and Matthew Reed. All car bombs."

"But he was going after Erin?" Beth asked. Ruth nodded. "And he is dead."

"He is. But his daughter Efa is alive and well." Ruth continued. "And blames MI 6, specifically Erin for his death."

"He murdered three people." Will huffed. "What part of that is anything to do with Erin?"

"She put him in prison as far as Efa is aware. She's using her Dad's MO to get revenge." Ros answered, remembering a time when she may have done something similar to the younger woman. Lucas caught her eye as she glanced over at him.

"Find her." Harry stated, indicating the end of the meeting. Adam pushed his chair back from the table as Zaf pulled on his jacket.

"Easier said than done."

"Well, get moving then." Ros snapped. "Are you waiting for written permission first?"

Zaf rolled his eyes before heading out of the Briefing Room.

"The bitch is still alive? For feck sake! She's more lives than a cat!" The Irish woman threw her jacket on the floor and she stomped around the hotel room.

"Not much longer by the looks of it." A burly man sat glaring at her from the end of the bed. "Efa, yer man says the girl is in an induced coma. The lad she was with is in a bad way too."

"Collateral damage."

"Efa! Have a heart. He is only a lad. No older than your Da when he went away. Just a lad."

"He should keep better company." She glared at him. "Brian, will yer stop with all this bleeding heart crap. It ain't like you. That bitch put me Da in prison. Spoke at his parole hearing. If she'd kept her mouth shut he'd have been home years ago."

"Yer don't know that."

"Brian Gillespie! For the love of Christ you getting cold feet now?"

"She has a child. You never told me that she had a kid!"

Efa stormed over to him, leaning into his face.

"What fecking difference does that make?" Efa snapped as she grabbed him by his collar. "You got yer money. "

"To leave a bairn without a Mammy?" He shook his head. "Nah, you can feck off. I did my time. Not going back inside. Not for killing someone's Ma! "

"You built the bomb."

"On yer father's plan. I know what I did."

"You're as guilty as me. And if I start a job I finish it." She turned away, puffing on a vape.

Brian shook his head.

"Oh your yer father's daughter alright." He grabbed his jacket before leaving the room.
