Rahm stared at the glass of insufferable liquid in front of him for a moment before he looked back at the bartender. Rahm gently pushed the glass back towards the faunus as he shook his head in disapproval.
"I'm good."
The bartender smirked as he scoffed, mockingly. He took the glass and dumped its contents in the sink.
"I knew you were a pussy."
Rahm didn't pay the insult any mind. He wasn't sure what the bartender was hoping to accomplish by having him drink another one of those horrid drinks. Maybe he was trying to get him inebriated? The joke would have been on him because Rahm couldn't get drunk. Maybe the bartender thought it was amusing to see someone in anguish as they drank that poison? Whatever the reason, it didn't matter. He didn't come here to get drunk, and he certainly didn't come here to be someone's amusement. He had a job to do…they had a job to do.
The door to the bar swung open, drawing the attention of the bar's patrons. A tall, husky lion faunus stumbled in. His faunus trait was a lion's tail, and he sported dirty blonde hair that was cut short and had brown eyes. His skin tone was pale and he was dressed in a red hoodie with blue pants and black shoes. While he was indeed tall, he wasn't nearly as tall as Rahm, though. It was pretty obvious that the faunus had been drinking. His eyes were on the red side and the stench of liquor could be picked up by those with heightened senses of smell like faunus or certain super soldiers. Rahm and Penny eyed the faunus for a moment, looking to see if he had any White Fang tattoos, weapons, or anything that could potentially make him a person of interest. Seeing that he didn't have any of those, the two Bad Batch members quickly ignored him. The bartender, however, didn't ignore him.
"Hey, Lionel! How've you been?"
The lion faunus laughed as he brought himself to lean against the bar, close to where Rahm was sitting.
"Teddy," he said with a mischievous smirk, "I've been good. I was in the neighborhood, and I decided to stop in."
The bartender, Teddy, shot a grin at his fellow faunus before he popped the cap off a beer and handed it to him.
"It's on the house. It's good to see ya."
The lion faunus chugged the beer and proceeded to slam the empty bottle on the counter.
"Good to see ya too Teddy," he said with a grin.
The bartender went back to work as the lion faunus took a seat. He glanced over towards Rahm and Penny, focusing on Penny in particular. He shot her a devious smirk.
"You know, for a human, you're not a bad sight to look at." He winked at her.
Normally, Penny would have taken something like that as a compliment, but she felt a bit disturbed by the way he looked at her. She hugged herself awkwardly before she forced a smile.
"Thank you," she said with reluctance.
Rahm took notice of the entire exchange and had his eyes narrowed dangerously at the faunus.
"You should ditch the loser and come home with me sweetie. It'll be a fun time."
"She's not going anywhere with you," Rahm's facial expression held no emotion but the look in his eyes held a murderous intent. "Understood?"
Rahm may have been the most human of his brothers, but he was still a killing machine. He didn't care for the insult towards him, but the way in which this guy spoke to Penny was something he wouldn't tolerate. The faunus didn't know it, but he was dangerously close to crossing a line that he couldn't uncross. Rahm had no intention of harming anyone here tonight, but if it came to Penny's safety then he wouldn't hesitate to literally rip this guy's head off with his bare hands. It certainly wouldn't have been the first time he'd done so.
The lion faunus, while under the influence of alcohol, still had his survival instincts intact, and right now his instincts were screaming at him to get away from this human. It wasn't the fact that this human was huge and tough-looking, but rather it was the energy he was giving off. He'd encountered dangerous people before, but never like this. The eyes of this human held a certain gravity to them. The eyes of a killer. The lion faunus decided to listen to the remaining sound judgment within his head and walk away from this situation while he still could. Lionel raised his hands non-threateningly.
"Hey man, it's all cool."
Rahm watched as the faunus snagged a couple of beers from behind the counter and got up and left to an empty table.
"Thank you," whispered Penny.
Rahm placed a comforting hand on her shoulder and nodded. He didn't bother telling her not to mention it or anything along those lines. He knew that she knew that he, Terre, and Jai would always protect her no matter what. The two sat in silence as they continued to discretely monitor the activity within the bar.
Two hours ended up passing by and they still hadn't spotted a person of interest. During that time, the bartender had unsuccessfully tried to get the two of them to order more drinks. The bar had become busier in the last hour as there were more patrons scattered about the establishment. Most were faunus but there were a decent amount of humans. The humans and the faunus, for the most part, sat separate from each other. As patrons came and went, the two members of the Bad Batch discretely scrutinized each of them with masterful subtlety. None of the faunus sported any indicators to membership with the White Fang, and none of the humans registered in Penny's databanks as potential leads with ties to Roman Torchwick, although quite a few of them had criminal histories. The two listened in on all of the different conversations that had gone on in the bar, but nothing was remotely useful. The time spent in the Jaguar's Paw was beginning to seem as though it had been a waste, but that changed.
The entrance door swung open, prompting Rahm and Penny to look in that direction. A young female faunus of short height and small build with deer antlers entered. She looked around the establishment for a second before she walked towards the back. She had green eyes, tan skin, and short black hair. She wore a red shirt with black pants and black boots and there was a small, nearly unnoticeable, White Fang tattoo on the inside of her wrist. Penny's advanced optics and Rahm's enhanced vision spotted the tattoo easily. As she passed, she briefly looked towards the two, having just missed their eyes following her. Their eyes no longer followed her, not wanting to alert her that they were watching her. Penny's eyes shifted to the glass bottles in front of her and focused. Using the light reflecting off the bottles, Penny was able to see their person of interest sit down at a table in a back corner where a middle-aged human woman dressed in business attire was seated. Penny's auditory sensors focused on that corner of the room as she began recording what she heard. Rahm focused his hearing on that corner of the room as well. The entrance door once again opened. Penny didn't bother looking over, being too focused on the deer faunus to do so, but Rahm shot a glance with his eyes while keeping his head forward. A young woman of very short stature walked in and sat at the adjacent end of the bar. She was dressed in a black tank top, a black skirt, and black boots. Her skin was tan, and her orange hair was fixed in pigtails. Their eyes met for the briefest of seconds. Her emerald-green eyes met his blue ones. She looked him up and down for a second before she shot him a suggestive smirk accompanied by a wink. Rahm paid the flirtatious behavior no mind as he looked forward again. His peripherals saw that the girl gave a pouting frown before she shot a glance over towards the back corner where the faunus and the older woman were seated. Rahm took a mental note of that. This girl might have been following their person of interest. For what reason? He didn't know, but she could potentially be trouble.
The deer faunus' eyes wandered around the room inconspicuously for a moment, ensuring that no one was watching them.
"Thank you for meeting with me," said the faunus.
The woman nodded as she took a sip of her cocktail. She had brown hair with a few streaks of grey in it. Her eyes were blue and her skin was dark. She was dressed in a women's suit. She honestly looked overdressed for the type of establishment she was in.
"I'm always happy to discuss business," replied the human. "So, tell me. What's brought the White Fang to come to us? Doesn't seem like your style to buy from humans."
The faunus paused for a moment before she responded.
"Our supply lines have been stretched to their limits. Due to some…unfortunate circumstances, we've had to do some drastic reorganizing to survive."
The human woman looked at her curiously.
"What happened?"
The faunus couldn't contain an ironic laugh, earning an even more confused look from the human.
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you," the faunus' words carried a dark undertone, "but you should know it's bad if it has me here meeting with you. The White Fang has many chapters, but we can't keep them adequately supplied with our current suppliers. We need additional ones."
"I see," replied the human.
The deer faunus nodded. "We understand that your boss is known for keeping a low profile and for the quality of weapons."
It was the turn of the human woman to fail at containing her laughter.
"Yeah," she laughed, "he's known for other things too."
"Well then," replied the faunus, "he should know that we're prepared to pay handsomely. Can we make a deal?"
"You'll have to talk to him directly," replied the older woman. "if you mean business, then I'll arrange a meeting for you."
"When and where?" Asked the deer faunus.
"Be at Club Venture at nine," replied the woman, "wait for me at the bar."
The faunus nodded.
"Thank you," the faunus stood up and turned around, and walked towards the exit.
The older woman downed the rest of her drink before she too made to leave. Both were completely unaware that the cyborg and super soldier at the bar had heard everything. Seeing how the two of them were gone, Penny spoke up in an inconspicuous whisper.
"Should we follow?"
"No," replied Rahm as he kept his eyes forward, "there's no need. We know where to find them. Did you get that recording? Did you get pictures of our mark?"
Penny nodded.
"Good," said Rahm, "send what you have to Jai and Terre."
Penny looked down; her eyes glowed for the briefest of moments.
"Done," she said. "Is it safe to assume that we will wait in the meantime?"
Rahm nodded.
"Don't look now," said Rahm as he kept his eyes forward, "but do you see the orange-haired girl on the adjacent side of the bar?"
Penny did as she was instructed. She kept her head and her eyes forward, but she used her advanced optics to look in the direction that Rahm had stated. True to his word, an orange-haired girl was sitting there. The girl took a sip of her cocktail before she looked in Rahm's direction and shot a suggestive smirk.
"Yes," replied Penny. "What about her? Has she caught your romantic interest? It appears as though she likes you."
Rahm held his reply for just a moment. He was trying to mentally grasp what Penny just said. He brushed the thought aside before returning his attention to her.
"No," he replied, "I think she's following the mark. She came in here just after the mark entered and had been stealing glances towards that corner of the room. You didn't notice because you were busy recording the conversation."
Penny nodded. She blinked once, secretly taking a few photos of the girl.
"I'll be sure to let Terre and Jai know," she whispered as she sent her teammates photos of the mysterious girl.
"Good," replied Rahm.
"What should we do about her?" Asked Penny.
CRASH!
Rahm's and Penny's heads snapped in the direction where the sound of glass breaking came from. There, on the other side of the room, the lion faunus from earlier was staring down a tiger faunus of roughly equal size.
"The fuck is your problem?!" Asked the lion faunus.
"You trying to flirt with my girl is my problem asshole!" The tiger faunus pointed to a cat faunus seated beside him.
The lion faunus, who was drunk, laughed.
"Oh, my bad man. I just thought she'd look better on my arm instead of yours."
Penny and Rahm observed the altercation with mild interest.
The tiger faunus swung first.
The lion faunus was able to move out of the way and dodge it. The tiger faunus had swung with the weight of his body behind that punch, but because he missed, he lost his balance and accidentally hit another bar patron that was seated close by.
The unlucky human became enraged and tackled the tiger faunus, which prompted other faunus patrons to come to the aid of their fellow faunus. The multitude of faunus attacking a human prompted the human patrons to come to the aid of their fellow human. In the span of fewer than ten seconds, the entire bar erupted into a brawl. Penny and Rahm merely watched as the entire thing unfolded.
"Should we do something?" Asked Penny.
Rahm reached for his cup of water and took a sip before he responded.
"Not unless you have to defend yourself," he replied.
Rahm glanced back towards where he last saw the orange-haired girl.
The super soldier blinked.
She was gone. The killing machine looked around the bar amidst the chaos in search of the mysterious girl. He didn't see her, but he did see a green-haired girl of medium height rush out of the main entrance with a sense of urgency.
Penny took notice of the girl's disappearance as well.
"Where did she go?" Penny asked aloud.
Rahm didn't answer. He immediately got up from his seat and made his way towards the exit calmly. Penny followed his example and went after him. A burly human tried to swing at the Guardian, but Rahm merely blocked the punch before trapping the arm and shoulder throwing the guy into a table effortlessly. Zero-One-One made it to the exit and opened the door and took a few glances around the street. People of all backgrounds were walking about, minding their own business, but there was no sign of the orange-haired girl or the green-haired girl from earlier. His enhanced eyes managed to spot a red-haired girl of medium height skipping about happily down the street away from his position.
"Do you have visual?" Asked Penny who stood behind him.
"Negative," replied Rahm with narrowed eyes.
"What do we do Rahm?"
Rahm pondered their next course of action for a moment. That girl, whoever she was, was good. She managed to slip past both of them amidst the chaos. That shouldn't have been possible. Guardians were the most observant beings on Remnant. She must have been using a semblance of some kind. That was the only explanation Rahm could come up with. In any case, it didn't matter. She was gone without a trace and the only thing they could do now was hope they spotted her at the club later on.
Rahm's hand instinctively shot up and caught a bottle that had just crashed through the window behind him. He turned to face Penny who had a look of surprise on her face from what he'd just done. The Guardian tossed the bottle into a nearby trashcan before he spoke.
"Let's find someplace a little less chaotic to wait."
The Streets of Vale:
"So where are we going?" Asked Blake.
Yang didn't look back as she led the group through the streets of Vale.
"I was thinking of this place I went to a few months ago called Junior's. I know the owner; we're practically best friends," Yang smiled mischievously.
Weiss narrowed her eyes suspiciously.
"For some reason, I doubt that," said the heiress.
"Oh hush, you!" Yang shot back.
As they walked, the scrolls of Jai and Terre beeped. The two members of the Bad Batch were currently walking behind the others. Terre wore his black boots, muted blue cargo pants, his green t-shirt, and his black open jacket while Jai wore his black boots, greyish-green cargo pants, and grey long sleeve t-shirt. The two super soldiers checked their scrolls discretely and saw that they'd each received intel from Penny. Jai looked at Terre, who gave him an approving nod, before he turned his attention to the rest of the group.
"Yang," called Jai.
"That's my name, don't wear it out. What's up Jai?"
"Penny and Rahm just texted me. They're closer to a place called Club Venture. It'd be easier for them to meet us there. Can we go there instead?"
Before Yang could respond Nora chimed in.
"I like the sound of Club Venture! It sounds adventurous! Let's go!" Nora was bouncing up and down, clearly unable to contain her excitement.
Ren merely sighed.
Yang glared at Nora.
"Hey! I'm in charge of this night out!"
Nora looked at Yang with pleading puppy dog eyes.
"Please Yang!"
Yang struggled to hold the glare but after a moment she relented.
"Fine," said Yang, "I can't say no to a face like that."
"She does this whenever she doesn't get her way," said Ren.
"I take it she's used it on you?" Asked Ruby.
Ren merely nodded.
"My younger brother would do the same thing when he was a toddler," said Weiss with slight annoyance at the thought of Whitley and his childhood antics.
"Your brother sounds like my sisters," said Jaune as he shot Weiss a smile, unknowingly earning a look of slight jealousy from Pyrrha.
Jai and Terre casually observed the others as they entrenched themselves in conversation, mentally running through the intel as they did so. Their person of interest was a female deer faunus. From what Penny and Rahm were able to gather, it seemed that the White Fang was trying to find another weapons supplier. Whether or not Roman Torchwick or Salem's agent knew about this deal or had any direct contact with this deer faunus was unknown. What was more than likely certain was that this faunus could lead them to Adam Taurus at the very least. There was no way a weapons deal involving the White Fang could happen in Vale without Taurus' approval. Next to Torchwick, Taurus was the best bet for finding Salem's agent, who in turn could lead them to the ultimate prize: the witch.
Their scrolls beeped again, and the two looked through what Penny sent them.
"Interesting," said Jai quietly.
"Yeah," replied Terre, "we'll need to keep an eye out for this girl while we're there."
"Shouldn't be too hard to spot a deer faunus and an orange-haired girl," said Jai.
Jai and Terre stared at the scene before them. The lights flashed different colors, the music was nearly deafening, and it was nearly impossible to walk more than two steps without bumping into someone because of how crowded it was. They weren't sure what to make of it all other than that the whole place could have accurately been described as sensory overload.
"This might be harder than I originally thought," said Jai discretely.
"I'd agree with that," replied Terre.
The two Guardians, along with RWBY and JNPR, were seated at a private table. The bouncers had escorted them here once they saw Weiss Schnee and Pyrrha Nikos. Being the heiress to the richest company in the world and being the world's most famous competitive Huntress came with perks. The two super soldiers had been keeping a mental tally of the armed bouncers, making sure to know where they were at all times. Normally, these sorts of establishments didn't keep armed guards inside but instead outside. A waitress arrived with a tray of vodka shots before setting it down on the table.
"Thanks!" Yelled Yang over the music.
The waitress nodded as she left.
Yang looked over towards Weiss and smirked.
"And thank you, Ice Queen! I knew you had a heart!"
Weiss rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"Don't push it Yang!"
Weiss had taken it upon herself to cover the night's expenses. She considered it her gift to everyone for finishing the first semester. Yang stuck her tongue out at the heiress playfully before she went about distributing the shots to everyone. Ruby, Jai, and Terre looked at their drinks with mild curiosity. None of them had ever had alcohol before. Ruby's eyes went from her drink to her sister.
"Aren't I too young to drink?"
"Nope," replied Yang, "if you're old enough to fight Grimm and stop criminals then you're old enough to drink."
Terre and Jai glanced towards each other with raised eyebrows. They'd heard the general say something similar before to Specialist Schnee regarding the policy for Atlas Academy students. "If you're old enough to die for your kingdom then you're old enough to drink." That's what he said. Technically, the legal drinking age in Atlas, Vale, and Mistral was 17, but there was leeway for students attending Huntsmen academies.
"To many more kickass semesters!" Yang yelled as she raised her glass, prompting the others to do the same.
Weiss couldn't help but smile. "Hear, hear!"
"I'll drink to that!" Yelled Nora.
"Cheers!" Yelled Jaune.
Jai and Terre watched as they drank the liquor. Everyone, for the most part, looked more or less fine. Ruby was the exception, though. That was her first alcoholic beverage, and she was currently gagging on the liquid that burned her throat so painfully. Everyone laughed at Ruby's antics except for the two super soldiers. The two glanced down at their drinks before they too threw the liquor down the hatches. The two coughed simultaneously, earning a few laughs from the others. They'd tasted some terrible things in their lives, but that was definitely the worst by far. Was the state of inebriation worth enduring the terrible taste of alcohol? Luckily, they would never know the answer to that question because it was impossible for them to get drunk.
"Are you both okay?" Asked Pyrrha with genuine concern in her eyes.
"We're fine," Jai replied, "just neither of us ever had alcohol before."
"Really?" Asked Blake. "What about Rahm and Penny?"
"Same for them," replied Terre.
Yang couldn't contain her laughter. This was just too good.
"Don't worry about being drinking rookies. By the end of the night, you boys will definitely get the YANG of it!"
No one said anything. Everyone merely stared at the blonde brawler, all of them trying to comprehend just how terrible that pun was.
"Oh, come on!" Yelled Yang. "That was a great pun!"
"No, it wasn't," said Ren.
"I'm afraid I have to agree with Ren on this one, sis," said Ruby.
"First my friends betray me and now my own flesh and blood?" Yang feigned a hurtful expression. "I can't believe this!"
The waitress returned with another tray of shots. This time it was Nora who led the toast. Yang was the most eager to follow her example. Weiss, Blake, Jaune, and Pyrrha were getting into the festive mood as they too followed the examples of the two hyperactive powerhouses of teams RWBY and JNPR. Ruby was too busy comically choking on the liquor to voice her excitement, while Ren, Jai, and Terre remained silent.
Jai glanced at his watch, which read that it was 2055. Jai made eye contact with Terre before he gave him a small nod.
"Excuse me," said Jai as he stood up, "I'll be back shortly."
Rahm breathed a mental sigh of relief as the bouncer let him and Penny into the club. They'd been waiting for over thirty minutes to get in, and Rahm honestly hated waiting in lines. Penny led the way through the club while Rahm scanned the room, searching for threats. Several of the bouncers were armed, which meant that they needed to make sure things didn't get out of hand. The last thing they needed was a firefight where innocent civilians could get caught in the crossfire.
"Jai!" Penny yelled!
Rahm looked to where Penny was looking. There, in the sea of people, was Jai walking towards them. Penny jumped towards Jai and embraced him. Jai awkwardly returned the hug before he turned his attention to Rahm.
"Glad to see that you two decided to join us."
Rahm shrugged.
"Well, we're here now, aren't we?"
"Fair enough," replied Jai, "I'm headed to the bar to find our mark."
Rahm and Penny nodded.
"Be careful Jai," said Penny.
Jai nodded.
"Will do, Penny. The others are seated at a table back that way," Jai pointed in the direction where he'd come from.
"Thanks. Good luck," said Rahm.
With that said they parted ways. Rahm and Penny maneuvered through the sea of people towards their destination. Rahm was following Penny at this point. Penny rounded a corner, but Rahm was cut off by a girl who bumped into him. Her skin was pale, her hair was black, and her eyes were green. She wore a white puffy dress and white thigh-high boots. She had a drink in her hand and judging by her slightly unstable posture it was clear that she'd been drinking a bit. She locked eyes with him before she shot him a suggestive smirk.
"Sorry!" She yelled over the deafening music.
"You're fine," replied Rahm as he tried to maneuver around her while he looked to see where Penny went.
"Wait! Where are you going?!"
He was stopped by a dainty hand grabbing onto his arm. Rahm looked and saw that the girl was holding onto his bicep. The girl had a look of surprise on her, but that look of surprise quickly turned into a mischievous smirk.
"Wow! You're pretty strong, aren't you?!" She gave him another mischievous smile. "You're really cute!"
Rahm looked a bit confused, unsure of what to say. She wasn't wrong about the strong part. He was a Guardian, a super soldier. He could snap a chain with his hands without much effort and without aura. He was definitely strong. What he didn't know how to process was the part about him being "cute."
"Uh…thanks…" He replied, unsure of how to take that.
"I'm Melanie! What's your name?!"
Before Rahm could say anything, he was cut off by a familiar voice.
"Leaving!"
Rahm and Melanie turned to see a familiar heiress and a redhaired bundle of energy. Weiss had a frown on her face and had her arms crossed while Penny was smiling and waving.
"Excuse you?" Asked Melanie with a bit of hostility towards Weiss.
"He's with us," said Weiss firmly, "so if you don't mind, we'd appreciate it if you let go of our friend!"
Rahm glanced down to see that Melanie's hand was still holding onto his arm.
"Well," Melanie said offhandedly, "does your friend have a name?"
"His name is Rahm!" Yelled Penny.
Melanie smirked before she looked up at the tall super soldier.
"Rahm…" Melanie seemed to linger on his name for a moment, "nice name."
"Melanie!"
The four turned to see an identical copy of Melanie. She looked exactly like the girl, but she was dressed in a red puffy dress with red thigh-high boots. Melanie smiled and waved.
"Hey, Miltia!" Yelled Melanie.
"I've been looking everywhere for you!" Yelled Miltia.
"Sorry, sis! I was on my way back until I met Rahm here!"
Miltia barely spared a glance towards Rahm. She wasn't in the mood for this. Miltia grabbed Melanie's hand before she began to drag her away.
"Come on! We're leaving!"
Melanie frowned. That was a shame. She was just beginning to have some fun.
"Looks like I gotta go! See you around Rahm!" Melanie gave the Guardian a wink as she walked away. As she passed by Weiss, she shot the heiress a smug look, earning a similar look from the Schnee.
Penny had observed the whole thing with curiosity.
"I am slightly confused as to what just transpired. Did we make a new friend?" Penny asked.
Rahm honestly didn't know how to respond to that question. He had no idea what just happened. Weiss shot Penny an annoyed look before she gestured for them to follow her.
"Let's just go," said Weiss with a frown.
Penny and Rahm followed the heiress. Penny looked up towards Rahm before she spoke.
"It seems Weiss is angry."
Rahm couldn't argue there. The heiress certainly seemed ticked off. He didn't know why, though. He figured he'd eventually find out why.
Jai was leaning against a wall with a drink in his hand while he occasionally stole glances over towards the bar where a certain deer faunus was sitting. The faunus was sipping on a cocktail as she waited. Jai glanced at his watch and saw that it was 2100. Any minute now and he could move in. He was waiting for the middle-aged woman to appear.
Jai found himself doing a doubletake. Across from him, on the other side of the bar, he spotted a blonde girl stealing subtle glances towards the deer faunus. The girl was dressed in a black dress, and she had brown eyes. Jai knew to keep an eye out for an orange-haired girl, but not a blonde girl. He continued to keep looking out for that orange-haired girl, but he added this blonde girl to his mental list. He didn't know if this blonde girl was merely a set of additional eyes on the deer faunus, but he knew that she was a person of interest.
The deer faunus' eyes roamed around her surroundings in slight paranoia. She couldn't be too careful.
"Hey, kid!" A familiar voice yelled over the music.
The deer faunus looked up to see the woman from earlier approach. Unbeknownst to them, two individuals were listening in on them.
"Glad to see you could make it!" The woman extended her hand towards the faunus, who promptly accepted it.
"Wouldn't miss it," the deer faunus replied.
"You got a name kid?!"
"Faline!" Replied the deer faunus.
"Well Faline, I'm Sepia! Follow me! The boss wants to meet you!"
Faline nodded. She grabbed her drink and followed the woman known as Sepia. Sepia led the two of them through the crowd of people. Faline did her best to stay close to Sepia as they maneuvered through the crowded club. Faline found herself slowly getting separated from Sepia as the crowd of dancing people grew. The crowd had become so dense that Faline didn't register a tall human male approaching her. Without warning, Faline found herself bumping into something. Whatever it was it was big. She found herself on the floor; her drink was knocked out of her hand.
"Damn it!" Yelled Faline, irritated that her drink was knocked out of her hand. She was glad that the cups in this club were made of plastic. Otherwise, she would have had some nasty cuts.
Faline looked up to see one of the biggest guys she'd ever seen scramble to help her off the floor.
"Are you okay?" Asked Jai as he kneeled to assist the faunus, holding out his right hand for her to take.
Faline, paused for a moment, before she took his right hand, unaware of his left hand placing something inside her boot.
"My apologies," came the calm reply of the Guardian.
Faline dusted herself off and shot the super soldier a glare.
"Watch where you're going asshole!"
"I'll be sure to watch where I'm going next time," replied Jai.
"Be sure that you do!"
Jai watched as the faunus stomped off after the middle-aged woman. Thanks to his height, Jai could see above the crowd and see where the two were headed.
Faline had found herself back with Sepia. The two were walking up a flight of stairs to the upper level of the club. It wasn't as crowded on the upper level. Faline followed Sepia through a door that was guarded by a pair of armed bouncers. They entered a private room that overlooked the dance floor below. The room was soundproof, free of the deafening music from the outside. There, seated before them, was a skinny bald man with a red goatee and glasses. He was dressed in what appeared to be a light red jumpsuit and beside him stood a large bodyguard who was armed with a pistol and a knife and had a blonde mullet.
"Sepia!" Yelled the skinny man. "I see you brought our potential buyer."
Sepia smirked.
"Faline," said Sepia, "allow me to introduce you to-"
"I can introduce myself Sepia," said the man as he got up from his seat and walked over towards Faline. "The name's Rust. Doctor Benton Rust, but everyone calls me Rusty."
Faline looked a bit surprised.
"You're a doctor?"
"Well, not a medical doctor. I have a doctorate of science."
The bodyguard couldn't contain a scoff.
"Yeah, an honorary degree from some backwoods community college in Mistral," said the blonde bodyguard in such a hushed tone that Sepia or Rusty couldn't hear. Faline and her sensitive ears managed to hear it, though.
"Faline, was it?" Asked Rusty.
Faline nodded.
"Sepia here tells me that the White Fang needs weapons. You've come to the right place. Sit down," he gestured to one of the empty chairs, "tell me what I can do for you."
Hope you all liked this one. Looks like Rahm has a natural way with the ladies haha. I chose the name Faline because it's the name of a deer in the movie Bambi. I'm not going to tell you outright who Dr. Rust and his bodyguard are based off of. I think that's pretty clear lol. Please let me know what you all thought of this one. Until next time.
