Kagome looked at the hour on her laptop for the umpteenth time.

Since she boarded the train in Tokyo, time seemed to have slowed down to a halt, one could say even painfully so. During the first part of the journey, she thought closing her eyes to sleep through a fraction of the way would help her notice the hours less… but to her surprise, when she opened them again thinking she had to be already half-way there, she found out only twenty minutes had passed. She huffed then, deciding to go to the buffet car, believing that crossing the three cars separating her from it would somehow distract her, a little at least. Anxiety was getting the better of her, she knew, and even so she found it impossible to correct her course.

Two hours had passed since then.

The view across the window spoke of winter, more intently as time went on, leading her to recall it had been almost a year since the last time she was here. A bittersweet feeling weighed on her stomach, infusing her emotions; She hadn't wanted to mention to InuYasha the fear she felt before what his mother may do upon seeing her again. Even if he didn't say so clearly, he did tell her that his decision of going back to Nakano had been made after she disappeared; disappeared, that had been the term he used, and she didn't need to be too smart to know his mother had seen her son suffer. However, that would not deter her from staying by InuYasha's side, and if she had to learn about flower, plants and moon phases, she would.

She looked at her phone, and checked there were no new messages in the last hour. There were but twenty minutes left of travel, and the best for her would be to gather her belongings; her laptop, her coat, her purse that she would hang across her chest, and her small suitcase, with everything needed for a three-day stay.

When there were ten minutes left, she looked herself in a small mirror she stored in her purse, then checked if the light-make up she had applied that early morning, was still intact. Finally, she combed her hair with her fingers before storing the mirror again.

Her phone vibrated inside the green coat's pocket she had already on, and saw that it was a message from InuYasha.

"I'm here," it read.

And Kagome forgot how long the travel had felt for her, she forgot how the exhaustion she had been dragging the entire week, and the tension of meeting again with people who may judge her. InuYasha was waiting for her, and that was the only thing that mattered.

A sentence formed in her mind then, before that feeling, "life is what happens inside, everything else just circles around it."

She looked outside the window, and smiled.

InuYasha was part of her life now.
