The lighting decoration of that part of the city had greatly changed around that date. The artificial trees, illuminated with a cold white, gave a full festive glint to the streets, complimented by the people strolling around, laughing despite the temperatures. And all of that, crowned by the Tokyo Tower in the background. Christmas was close, and more and more establishment were capitalizing on that festivity to attract customers. It felt good, to walk by Kagome's side in the midst of such ambience, touching and intertwining her hand in his, in a manner that was as natural as breathing. Kagome was radiant, something he could see in her every smile, every time she showed him some object she had just discovered. Among the many things she had stopped to look at, there was a hat of a faint pink, of a Parisian style that InuYasha thought would look quite good on her.
"Do you like it?" He wondered, thinking it could be a pretty Christmas gift.
"Yes," despite confirming, however, she seemed in doubt, "I'd like to try it on first, though."
"Let's go inside then," he said, tugging her taken hand gently, and forward.
Kagome looked at him, and smiled softly. It was one of those beautiful things in her, he thought and enjoyed; memories he was starting to collect of her. Once again, the idea of asking her to live with him in Nakano crossed his mind; however, he didn't want to fill her with worries now, that she seemed to be so happy.
"Not now," Kagome furrowed her nose in a small gesture, and for an instant. With that, she declined entering for the piece of clothing, "I prefer to go celebrate," she smiled again, and got close to him; just a hand of distance, in a gesture that was the result of her joy, and the carefree intimacy they were sharing.
InuYasha thought that he could wait a bit more.
"Let's go celebrate that new job. What was it?" He accepted, and joked, feigning he couldn't recall the new post.
He pulled her closer, by the same hold they had not let go of, and embraced her. Kagome resisted, as if she were angry at his supposed forgetfulness.
"Editorial Technical Director," she repeated, and InuYasha smiled.
That was the news Kagome had brought with her when they had met in her apartment, and InuYasha had discovered he didn't want to veil her radiant sky with a cloud right now. A part of him felt a slight regret before the fact that Kagome had not considered speaking to him about it, which made him think her gaze was not cast on a future together, at least not on the short term. However, he did not wish to think about it too much right now.
"Well, an Editorial Technical Director should have that hat," InuYasha pointed at the window, and Kagome turned her head to look at it once more.
InuYasha, however, was instead captured by the sight of her beautiful profile, illuminated by the countless Christmas lights. He had a new image for his collection.
