"Best me if you can!" Kagome challenged InuYasha, who was standing a few steps behind her. The sound of the place was a constant clatter of wooden pins being hit by the hard material of the ball.

The score on the board was clearly in her favor.

"I'd like to see how you do it," Jinenji spoke, sitting and waiting for his turn, and Osamu laughed afterward.

InuYasha picked up a ball and looked at Osamu.

"With Jinenji, I can't do anything, but I can make you cut onions for the whole week," he dropped a playful threat to his kitchen helper, which everyone understood.

"Come on, don't be a sore loser," Kagome teased him.

"You talk about winning too soon," InuYasha said without changing the tone of his voice, but he lowered it in the second part of the sentence, making his words a whisper. "And I hope you don't forget what you promised me if you lost."

Kagome smiled, unable to help herself.

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said as she sat down.

InuYasha watched her for a moment longer, and the complicity between them seemed innate. He felt satisfied with it; after all, it had been his plan to create this moment of fun. After the unease from the strange night he had with Kagome, he thought it was good for them to share a larger space and have some fun with friends. She agreed, although he never revealed the reason why he had thought of it.

"I'll remind you," InuYasha announced to her and then moved toward the lane where he had to roll the ball. He did it with a certain elegance that Kagome couldn't ignore.

The ball rolled with a slight tilt to the right and crashed into the pins, knocking down all but one. The score was tied between InuYasha and Kagome.

"That was luck!" The phrase was said amidst laughter. Kagome felt both annoyed and happy in equal parts. InuYasha looked at her with a smile he couldn't hide as he went for another ball for his second throw.

Kagome was grateful for having made this plan; somehow, she felt that the tension that had built up in her the night before had dissipated, although not her thoughts about the reason for it. She watched InuYasha prepare to throw and concluded once again that he was a handsome man and that it was logical for women to look at him. Kagome knew her main problem was her lack of confidence, and although she was working on changing that, sometimes the clouds wouldn't let her see the sky.

The sound of the ball hitting the last pin announced that InuYasha now had the advantage.

She could see him approaching her, and as soon as he was in front of her, he made a slight bow to speak close to her ear.

"I hope you start recovering your memory, because I'm going to collect on this."
