Loyalty
Senator Cyrinity Kallus walked down the loading ramp of her ship which had landed on the landing platform which was floating in the skies of Coruscant. Along side her stood the Agent that the Empress had sent with her to fulfil some sort of task that was unknown to her. Cyrinity had been ordered to introduce him as a bodyguard if anyone asked who he was. Lazarn watched everything around him closely with an eagle eye as they travelled through the city to the Senate building. After about half an hour the party were walking through the building towards Cyrinity's office, every now and then the Senator stopped to talk to one of her colleagues.
"Good morning Senator Kallus," Mia greeted the younger woman politely as she glanced at Lazarn out of the corner of her eye.
"Good morning Agent Highrock," Cyrinity responded, "This is one of the new bodyguards," she explained as she saw the Republic SIS Agent glance at Lazarn.
The Republic SIS Agent nodded slightly and then continued walking in the opposite direction and she could not shake off the feeling that Senator Kallus's new bodyguard looked familiar from somewhere. However, for now Mia decided to put it to one side as she had to get back to Headquarters to report to the Director.
Upon reaching the office, the luggage was placed on the floor in the far corner and then the room emptied of everyone but two occupants.
"If you don't mind me asking what were the Empress's orders for you?" Cyrinity asked slightly nervous which was clearly detected in her voice.
"My mission is confidential," Lazarn responded strictly as he approached the crates, "You should know that asking questions like that will get you executed," he warned.
"I know, I'm just worried for the safety of my colleagues," Cyrinity mentioned.
"Your loyalty should be to no one but the Empress," Lazarn scolded, "Do you realise what the Republic would do to you if they found out you were a traitor?" he asked.
Cyrinity stood up straight to make herself look tall, "Yes I do."
"Then remember whose side you're on," Lazarn reminded her strongly as he activated several of the infiltration droids and then went to work on the vent. After a few minutes the air vent was exposed and Lazarn ordered the droids to find as well as follow their individual targets. Then he rose to his feet and walked out of the office after re-attaching the air vent cover without another word to the Senator. Once he exited the Senate building, Lazarn started walking towards one of the taxi speeders and once he was sitting in the back seat he directed the driver to drop him off at a building that was close enough to the Jedi Temple that he would be able to walk the rest of the way.
As Lazarn approached the Jedi Temple he spotted his target walking ahead of him so the Agent quickly side-stepped into an alleyway.
"Okay Sparx," the Agent whispered as he took off his coat and the small droid detached itself from the charging station that was strapped to Lazarn's back.
The droid made a few beep noises and floated in the air as it waited for his owner to tell him what to do.
"That Jedi Knight out there is your target, I only need you to watch her closely but make sure that while you are in the Jedi Temple you stay out of sight," Lazarn ordered.
Sparx looked out at the massive crowd and beeped in confirmation.
"Just record everything you see," Lazarn said as the droid then floated away, following the Jedi Knight. Then the Agent began the journey back to the Galactic Senate to ensure that the mission was running smoothly.
Sparx followed the target into the Jedi Temple and once inside floated close to the ceiling to stay out of sight. As Ashlyn walked in through the doors she pulled her hood back off her head and Kai approached her.
"Hey Ash, feeling any better from the other day?" the other Jedi Knight asked warmly.
Ashlyn smiled softly, "Yes much better, thank you Kai."
The two friends began to walk through the hallway towards the North Hangar and Sparx followed them swiftly as he continued to record everything.
"That prank yesterday was something wasn't it?" Kai asked.
"Yes it was," Ashlyn responded as she laughed at the event which had now become a memory to laugh at.
"Best not let Raven, Serin or Ahsoka see you laugh," Kai pointed out with a chuckle.
"I honestly don't see why they had such an issue with it," Ashlyn said, "I mean, why didn't any of us ever come up with that idea?" she asked in amusement.
"If anyone is not amused, it's Eric," Kai said, "He's still finding flour throughout the Constellation and has been grumbling all day about it," he mentioned.
Ashlyn shrugged, "Eric will get over it."
"I'm not too sure about that, he's banned those three from going anywhere near either of his ships for the rest of their lives," Kai pointed out, "I overheard his ranting earlier this morning," he revealed.
Ashlyn giggled as she shook her head lightly, "That is just beyond impractical," she said.
"I know but it hasn't stopped him," Kai stated bluntly as they entered the Hangar to find the majority of the group inside.
Sparx assessed the room and came to the decision to stay just outside the entrance otherwise there would be too much risk of someone spotting him but he continued to record everything. All the while the droid attempted to scan and profile everyone in the room which for those who were members of the Jedi Order was easily done but for others all he got were their first names through what he was recording. Then Sparx went back to recording his primary target of interest who was now talking to another Jedi Knight who was named Daly Solak who had his arm around the target's shoulders.
Meanwhile back in Senator Kallus's office, Lazarn was looking over the holographic blueprints for the Senate building as he looked for the best place to launch the assassinations.
"Would you like me to help you with anything?" Cyrinity asked from where she was currently sitting behind her desk.
"Yes there is something actually. What is the voting schedule for the Senate like over the next week?" Lazarn requested.
"There is one in two days and as far as I'm aware another won't be happening for a couple of weeks," Cyrinity revealed.
"Good take me to the Galactic Senate Chamber," Lazarn ordered.
The Senator frowned slightly, "Very well," she replied as she led the Agent out of the office and through the building. The pair entered one of the pods which Cyrinity activated and it began to float around the chamber. Lazarn looked around for any vantage points but the only one he could identify were the air vents along the high ceiling. Then a plan began to form in Lazarn's head as he looked around in satisfaction.
"Do the Senators use the same pod every session?" Lazarn asked curiously.
"Yes," Cyrinity answered.
"I will need you to give me a full detailed map of the chamber and which Senators sit in each pod," the Agent ordered.
The Senator nodded stiffly as she pressed a few controls and the pod returned to the docking before they began the walk back to her office. Upon arriving back inside the office, Lazarn went straight to the air vent and opened it to let the infiltrator droids out. As each of them returned he checked their data bank to ensure that they had found their respective targets and that each of the Senators were going to be at the voting session in two days time.
"Excellent, everything is going according to plan," Lazarn whispered to himself as he put new orders into the droids controls. As each droid was finished it returned to the air vent and followed its programming as well as the new list of orders.
The next day the group were in the mess hall eating dinner, Sparx had been able to remain undetected and out of sight since he had begun recording the target. Daly glanced at Ashlyn who had just sat down next to him at the table, with a quirked eyebrow as she ate a particular food item that he knew she had always extremely disliked.
"Ash, you do realise you are eating deep-fried gorg?" Daly pointed out.
Ashlyn nodded, "Yeah I don't know why but I thought I would try it and it tastes great," she replied confidently.
Daly sighed and went back to eating his food but couldn't help the thought that entered his mind that there was something wrong with Ashlyn. The others at the table all had the exact same thought enter their minds as they continued to eat their meal. Sparx stayed in the corner where the wall met the ceiling as he continued to record everything the subject was doing and saying. Once the group of Jedi had finished eating and rose to their feet, the small droid followed close behind floating close to the ceiling as he followed the target through the hallways of the Jedi Temple.
