Hello again, and welcome back to Ash's Unova Journey, my version. For those who aren't aware, the Pokemon that will be added to the team is a Pokemon requested by one of my fellow writers who inspired me to write and asked me to write these stories, Dragonsrules18. She also asked for the capture and evolution of the older brother Eevee in my Johto story. With that said, let's get this chapter started, shall we?
Chapter 10: The Trubbish Group, the Daycare, and a new teammate
"Human Speech"
"Pokemon Speech"
We join our heroes as they are heading en route to Nacrene City, the site of Ash's next gym battle.
"According to the guidebook, there should be a Pokemon daycare and childcare building nearby," Brock told Ash and Misty.
"I couldn't wait to see the next generation of Pokemon trainers one day," Ash said to Brock.
"As long they aren't the type who mistreat others, given how kids are these days," Snivy said unenthusiastically upon hearing this. Ash noticed this in her voice.
"Not everyone is like Amelia Snivy, and most kids aren't spoiled like her," Ash said to Snivy, who sighed at this and gave an, I guess, gesture.
"If you say so, Ash, but looks can be deceiving," Snivy said to Ash, who sighed and nodded.
"She's been distant lately and to herself since joining the team. Maybe I shouldn't tell her about what I learned back in Striaton City after our battle against Trip," Ash thought to himself after looking at Snivy.
Flashback to the Pokemon center shortly after Ash's battle against Trip:
"Oh, by the way, Ash, I got news about your case against Amelia," Nurse Joy told Ash, who turned to her attention. "The league investigators will meet you in Nacrene, City. That is where her family lives," Nurse Joy said to Ash, who was surprised by this.
"That's great and fast and pretty convenient because we are heading that way, so I'll handle this after my gym battle at the gym," Ash said to Nurse Joy, who knew that Ash would say that.
"I highly recommend that because it'll take four days for them to get there, and it's about at least a two to three-day walk from here if you don't get sidetracked," Nurse Joy told Ash. "I also was told that you will have to battle Amelia, but without using Snivy, that is, as she was the accused former Pokemon," Nurse Joy said while handing Ash back the tape that he handed Nurse Joy for the league to listen to.
"This recording is the most damaging piece of evidence against her, and they are trying to find Shamus for his misdeeds, but this is enough to get them to lose their trainers license but no jail time, sadly," Nurse Joy said to Ash.
"That's a shame that they won't get jail time, but that'll teach them a lesson for what happened to Snivy and Tepig," Ash said to Nurse Joy. Little did Ash know it, but Snivy overheard all of this and was shocked that Ash was willing to battle against Amelia. Little did Ash know it, but Snivy was listening to all this and knew that this would happen sooner or later.
End Flashback
Before Ash could say something to Snivy, they were interrupted by Misty. "Hey, lookout," Misty called out as a pair of balloons was tossed their way. Ash, Misty, and Brock stopped just in time before they could get hit by the balloons, which looked filled with purple liquid.
Ash noticed that the ones that threw them were three kids who looked to be no more than seven or eight years old. They were ready to toss another batch of balloons but ran off when they heard a voice calling out to them.
"Not again. You three need to leave these trainers alone every time they come by here," A young girl who looked to run this place was walking towards Ash, and the other three kids ran off."Are you okay? No one is hurt?" The young girl asked Ash, Misty, and Brock, who shook their heads at the last answer as the young girl sighed in relief upon hearing this. "My name is Sarah. I run the nursery while my husband runs the Daycare," Sarah introduced herself to Ash, Misty, and Brock while bowing.
"Nice to meet you," Ash, Misty, and Brock said. "My name is Ash Ketchem. I'm from Pallet Town, which is in Kanto, and these are my friends Misty and Brock. They're also two of the gym leaders of the Kanto region," Ash introduced Misty and Brock to Sarah.
"A pleasure to meet you. Ah, I see you have a Snivy and a Pikachu with you on your team," Sarah asked Ash. Snivy and Pikachu raised their arms in acknowledgment of this. Sarah brought the group to the Daycare.
"Yeah, Pikachu was my first Pokemon, and Snivy just joined my team recently," Ash said to Sarah.
"Greetings, young fellas, welcome to the Daycare of the Unova region," A young adult male welcomed Ash and the others.
"This is Charles. He's my husband and the one who runs this Daycare," Sarah introduced her husband to Ash and the others as the group also made their introductions to him. Ash noticed that a young zebra-like Pokemon watched this from afar, and Sarah saw this. "That's Blitzle. She's a young fawn that works at the Daycare. She's not very good around other people besides Charles and me," Sarah said to Ash, who scanned the Blitzle to see it was an electric-type Pokemon. Ash walked over to the young Blitzle and Snivy as she was interested in the young Blitzle.
"Hello there, Blitzle. I'm not going to hurt you? I have a translator to understand what you say," Ash said. This caught both Sarah and Charles's attention and made Blitzle shocked in surprise by this.
"I somewhat trust you but don't trust you enough about my past. All you should know is that I am what most called the runt of the litter of my siblings, and they left me when they migrated. I just wanted to be loved, and Sarah and Charles here have been the only ones that showed it lately," Blitzle said to Ash, crying. Ash hugged Blitzle showing that he cared. "Th...thank you," Blitzle said, nuzzling Ash.
"I can understand where you are coming from, Blitzle. I've seen many Pokemon just wanted to be loved by someone, whether from their trainers or family," Snivy said to Blitzle. Who was curious about this?
"You seem to understand a lot of things, Snivy?" Ash said to Snivy, who smiled at this and nodded to Ash.
"Just relating to her, you know, and not to worry about it," Snivy was about to finish talking as she was interrupted by the sound of a young child.
"Why don't you leave that Pokemon alone and get rid of your Pokemon? All you trainers are all the same?" A young boy who looked to be the group leader was talking.
"I'm not that type of," Ash tried to say but was interrupted by the young boy talking to Ash, who could tell he had a grudge against the trainers who owned Pokemon.
"I don't believe all your adult trainers are the same. You claim to be good humans, and when your Pokemon's back is turned, you abandon them here or mistreat them," the young boy said.
"You're going to need to show them that you do care. I know that you are not like that, Ash," Snivy said to Ash, who nodded in agreement to what Snivy said. "I'm fine with you. Are telling him about my past it might convince him?' Snivy said.
"Look, I don't know what is going on, but I'm not that type of human. I've had run-ins with these types of trainers in the past," Ash said, which was somewhat convincing to the young boy. But he was still skeptical about Ash as he's never met Ash. Ash explains that Snivy is one of those Pokemon in an even rougher situation, and when he met Snivy, that was enough to convince him.
"I can trust you. My name is Gregory. My Uncle used to own this place before he retired," Gregory said to Ash. "I do apologize for earlier; my friends and I have been trying to protect a group of Pokemon that was abandoned by some horrible trainers and are afraid that someone will find out and harm them."
I can help. I have a translator and a spare one just in case something happens to it. If you would like one?" Ash asked Gregory, who was taken aback by this but nodded at the offer to which Ash handed his spare one to Gregory, who put the translator in his ear.
"I thought you looked familiar. I took over this place when he retired. I knew your Uncle pretty well. He loved Pokemon as much as I did," Charles said to Gregory, who smiled at this. "But this isn't the right way to live up to his legacy. Gregory, maybe you should show Ash these Pokemon. Maybe he can help you, kids, out?" Charles said, who looked down and nodded at this.
"Just you, Ash; my friends don't trust other adults," Gregory said to Ash, who nodded at this.
"I'm fifteen, actually will be 16 later in the year, but sure?" Ash said to Gregory, who was surprised by hearing that.
Gregory took Ash with him to his friend's hangout. Snivy joined him, concerned about these Pokemon. Gregory's friends were about to attack Ash with another set of water balloons.
"No, he's with me. Ash isn't an adult and might help us out?" Gregory said his friends were confused but nodded but were more cautious about Ash and why Snivy was out of her ball like this.
"Snivy prefers to be out of her Pokeball, and I agree to let her do what she wants," Ash said to the kids knowing that they were going to ask Ash about Snivy while walking to what looked to be three Pokemon. Ash looked them up. It turned out to be the Poison-type known as Trubbish. Ash looked up the list he was handed and didn't see this Trubbish on it but knew it must've happened recently.
"I've seen these Trubbish before, Ash. These must be the same ones abandoned just a few weeks before I met you?' Snivy said to Ash. Ash looked to Snivy, questioning what she meant. "Trubbish is usually a calm and tame Pokemon that loves to be around trainers. Something must've happened?" Snivyy explained.
"They were left starving, and wounded is what happened when my friends and I were coming home from school and saw their owners just admitted that they were not worth it and just," Gregory said but was interrupted by Snivy.
"I know what trainers you are talking about, Gregory. I've run into them during my time as a wild Pokemon. Let's say if I see abusive trainers, I make them release their Pokemon if they lose, and all the time they did," Snivy said to Gregory, who was worried that the trainer would return for them. "Don't worry, they are no longer around as one," Snivy said to cheer up the Trubbish and Gregory.
"Thanks, Snivy, but what now? We only have much food for these Trubbish," Gregory said to Ash and Snivy. The situation was gotten worse by hearing this.
"We should ask Sarah or Charles about what to do next. I'm unfamiliar with most areas in Unova, as I've been here a couple of times as a kid. The last time was probably around your age?" Ash said to Gregory, who nodded at this in sadness, knowing that he had to ask Charles and Sarah anyway.
Ash left for the Daycare with Gregory and his friends in tow. Ash explained the situation about the Trubbish to Charles and Sarah, who were in deep thought about what to do next.
"Maybe the nearby reservation is the same place we met Blitzle when she was younger," Sarah told Ash and Gregory, who was surprised when there was a solution.
"It's a place that humans and Pokemon can go without causing issues as the league protects it," Charles mentioned remembering that. "Do you think that my friends and I can visit there? I mean, it's only fair," Gregory asked Charles.
"Certainly, you boys can. As I said, it's a place that people can go and visit with permission, and I can tell them as I used to work there," Charles said to Gregory. "That and your Uncle used to help Pokemon there back when he was running the Daycare," Charles said to Gregory, who was happy to hear this as Gregory noticed that the Trubbish was okay with going there as long as their friends would visit them.
"I'm familiar with this reservation place, and I can concur that it's the right move, Gregory," Snivy told Gregory.
Ash and the others went to the place as mentioned, and boy was a massive open field built for many types of Pokemon. Charles told the people who ran the business who Gregory was, and they allowed the kids to visit whenever they wanted. The Trubbish left to find their own homes in the fields.
Gregory returned the translator to Ash and placed his arm out, showing that Gregory should keep it. "Huh? You want me to keep this Ash, but it was given to you?" Gregory asked Ash, who nodded.
"I want you to have it so when you decide to either be a trainer or whatever you want to specialize in, you can use it to help other Pokemon. I'm sure that your Pokemon friends would love to have someone to talk to," Ash said with a smile, to which Gregory smiled with tears down his eyes and his friends before they left for home.
Meanwhile, back at the Daycare/Nursery.
"I really couldn't thank you enough, Ash. Here's hoping that they learned a lesson from this. As thanks for the help, Ash, I want you to have these," Charles said while Sarah had not one but two Pokemon eggs. One was a brownish-yellow color, and the other was a brownish-greenish color.
"Wait, two eggs; you didn't need to do that? I'm just happy to help those in need," Ash said, showing his modesty. To which Charles shook his head at this.
"No, Ash, you earned these eggs. Their parents are no longer here at the Daycare, and we don't know what happened to their trainers. We know that they just showed up a few days ago," Charles said to Ash, who now happily took the eggs in his arms.
Before Ash could thank Charles, Blitzle approached Ash after seeing what he did for the Trubbish. "You need something, Blitzle?" Ash asked Blitzle while kneeling to her eye level.
"Can I join your team, Ash? I know a lot about the ways of this Daycare, and I can help you in the long-term, and I want to be loved and stronger," Blitzle asked Ash, who was surprised by this but knew that he couldn't say no to someone who wants to be raised with love.
"Certainly you can, Blitzle, but if you don't want to stay or feel like I'm not what you wanted, just ask, and you can be free without hassle, but I feel like that won't happen?" Ash said to Blitzle, who smiled and nodded, saw an empty Pokeball, tapped it twice, and was caught without hassle.
"Take good care of her, Ash. She's a good Mon, and she knows the breeder's rules and all. She had helped keep an eye on those eggs and knew how to check for what to look for when they hatched," Sarah said to Ash. "I will miss her, but she'll be better off with someone we can trust," Sarah said.
"I promise you I'll take good care of Blitzle and the Pokemon that'll hatch from these eggs," Ash said to Sarah, who smiled and nodded to what Ash had said as Ash and the others left, waving goodbye.
With a new team member and two new eggs added to Ash's team, the Pokemon world has improved. Who knows when Ash will meet Gregory and his friends again one day? The Journey continues.
Stay tuned.
And we are done. As I said at the begging, Blitzle was requested, and Blitzle is an underappreciated Pokemon to other electric types in Unova. While Ash will get a few more coming up later on, Blitzle will still be a good member of Ash's team, and her understanding of Pokemon eggs will be used a lot during this story. The Mincinno episode is next. See you guys next time.
