Hello everyone, Mgunnels3 here, and welcome back to Ash's Unova Journey, my version. I don't have much to say, and I'm back working on chapters again for both of my stories. With that said, the time for the chapter.

Chapter 27: Ash vs. Trip Round 3 A Best of 3 Battle

"Human Speech"

"Pokemon speech"

We join our heroes as they pass the forest area en route to Nimbasa city around the halfway mark of their journey there as they settle down for lunch.

The group was sitting, getting things ready for lunch. Brock was cooking the food as Ash and Misty were with their Pokemon. Ash was still figuring out who would be with Krokorok in the next gym battle as Ash knew that Elisa has more than just pure electric types, and from what he's heard, there's more than just Unova Pokemon here in terms of electric types. Ash thought about using Blitzle, given her ability can be used effectively during the battle. Still, the third one is a tough one to choose.

"Man, I saw Elisa once. I know she has an Emolga as one of her Pokemon, so I choose Krokorok. Still, I had only seen it when she was modeling," Ash said as Misty interjected's.

"Well, maybe you should use some of the other Pokémon on the team and not just use one Pokemon (props if you noticed that I jabbed at that gym battle). I mean, that's not like you at all, Ash," Misty said to Ash, nodded, and sighed.

"Yes, I know. Still, I already picked two, that being him and Blitzle," Ash said in an embarrassing tone which many of his Pokemon noticed.

"Man, Ash is thinking too hard about this battle, huh?" Ducky the Swanna said to Ash's Pokémon, who nodded as they thought about what should be used. "Well, it is an electric-type gym, and she must be famous or known if Ash is thinking that hard," Swanna said to Blitzle, who nodded.

"Well, he did the right thing by picking both of us. My ability should be helpful in battle, but there's a limit to what I can take. Even as young as I am, I should be able to fight in it as I know she has a Zebstrika who is a member of my evolutionary line," Blitzle said to Swanna. Ash overheard this and noticed that many of his Pokemon were indeed troubled about this. Ash shouldn't overthink this as Ash saw someone walking their way.

"Huh, isn't that," Ash noticed Trip. Trip was also heading to Nimbasa City, but he was out catching Pokemon to add to his team. "Hey, Trip," Ash said as he heard his name and turned around.

"Well, if it isn't Ash, nice to see you out here getting ready for the Nimbasa gym. Or the Don George battle club happening in the town outside of Nimbasa city?" Trip asked as that last part caught Ash off guard.

"The gym battle, but I didn't know a battle club was happening soon?" Ash said to Trip, who sighed and shrugged.

"It's happening in a few weeks from now. Any trainer can participate in it, and it's one of the reasons why the Nimbasa gym is closed cause many of the trainers competing are usually gym challengers," Trip said as this piped up Ash, but not to the point that it embarrassed himself. As Brock noticed, Trip was there.

"Hey, Trip, we're about to have lunch. If you want to join in, I got extra," Bock asked Trip, who smiled and shook his head politely.

"Thanks, Brock, but I'll have to pass politely. I just ate not long ago, but I appreciate the offer" Trip noticed that Ash either had a few new Pokémon or a few that just evolved, " I see you've also had a few evolutions and captures, Ash," Trip noted.

"Yeah, a few after we last saw each other in Castellia, just deciding on who to use in the gym battle, that is?" Ash said as Trip was impressed so far. Typically, he's after strong Pokemon, but knowing Ash, he wouldn't push it that far and ask.

"Say, Ash, since I'm here, why don't we have a battle? I'm sure that'll help you understand what you want to use. I want to see how much stronger you've been since we saw each other," the other Pokemon were getting excited. Still, hunger takes over as that catches their attention.

"Maybe after they ate, of course," Ash said with a chuckle which Trip chuckled and nodded.

"I don't mind the wait, and I like talking to you about stuff. I'm still getting used to you as both a rival and a kind of friend," Trip said to Ash. As everyone was eating as Trip was with the group.

"So Ash, I've taken that you've been through other regions besides Kanto. I know your friends here are gym leaders from there, but I've been thinking about traveling to other regions after the Unova league is up." Trip asked, and it was a fair question.

"Well, I've been through 5 leagues and five other regions Kanto, Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn, back to Kanto for the battle frontier, which doesn't count as a league, and before coming here, Sinnoh," Ash suggested to Trip about the regions he's been to. This surprised Trip as he had heard about some of those regions but had yet to learn that others had leagues.

"How far did you make it to each of them? I know they go through multiple trainers a year and all that," Trip asked.

"Kanto being my first league, I made it to the top 16 or the 5th round farther than my first rival did not brag," Ash said as Trip nodded.

"That's not bad for a first-timer, I'll admit, and no, it's not bragging. Each trainer must put much into their battles and all that," Trip said, impressed that Ash made it pretty far for his first time. Ash nodded.

"Sadly, my Charizard, who was the region's fire starter, didn't listen to me back then, and he was the last resort I had," Ash explained what happened that day. Trip was surprised by what happened to Ash that cost him his last match of the league.

"I would've done the same. I'd rather win a battle as a battle than via disqualification and the other leagues?" Trip said to Ash, who nodded as he was curious about the battle frontier.

"Orange Islands was more like the elite four as there are only four gym leaders on multiple islands, and the leader of the Orange crew barely won that league, Johto and Hoenn. I managed to make it to the top 8, Battle Frontier. I have beaten it, but to me, multiple tries against the final frontier brain and Shinnoh, I managed the semi-finals at the top 4," Ash said as Trip was stunned by that last one.

"Are you the trainer who beat two legendaries during that league? I saw snippets of it, but I was surprised about that" Ash nodded.

"Yeah, sadly, I'm the only one who got him down to 4 Pokemon. From what I've heard, he's taking on the region elite four now, and who knows how he is doing," Ash explained. Trip nodded, understood what Ash meant, and asked about the battle frontier as Ash briefly described it, even mentioning that it has pretty strong trainers as frontier brains, which caught his attention.

"After Unova, I might head to your home region to take on it. I've always wanted to battle tough trainers. While your team starts here, I can acknowledge that they'll be a good team later. You'll be ready for the battle club soon," Trip said as the group nodded as everyone finished eating, as the conversation ended.

"Well, Trip, everyone is ready whenever you are," Ash said to Trip, who nodded.

"Good, I know a good place to battle as well. It's a clearing nearby that'll be good," Trip agreed and suggested. As the Pokemon were returned to their balls, the group head that way to where Trip said, of course, Emolga being Emolga, refused to be in her ball. She wanted to see this from afar and see what this so-called rival Team Rocket told her about, as they had intel on him. As Ash and Trip got into positions,

"So what should be the battle plan today, Trip" Brock suggested, as he would be the ref for this fight.

"How about instead of a 6v6, we have a best-of-3 battle? Whoever gets two wins will win the battle if that's okay with you, Ash," Trip asked as Ash nodded.

"Certainly, that'll be a good battle for us to use," Ash was okay with this as Trip nodded.

"All alright, Servine, your up first," he sent out Servine.

"Servine, huh, Alright then, Ducky, I choose you," Swanna said as Trip was confused.

"Uh...Ducky?" Trip asked Ash as Ash sighed.

"It was a name given to her before she joined the team, but I'd rather keep the names they were given to them," Ash said to which Trip nodded.

"The first battle will be against servine, and Swanna Trip has the first move begun," Brock announced as Trip smiled.

"Alright, Servine Leaf blade go," Trip commanded Servine used it and charged at Swanna.

"Use brave bird now," Ash commanded Swanna as the moves hit and sent both Pokemon back from the attacks.

"Use Ice Beam," commanded Swanna, who launched the Ice Beam at Servine.

"Use iron tail," Trip commanded his Servine, who blocked the moves that caught Ash off guard. "Leaf storm now," Trip commanded his Pokemon as Servine hit her hard. "Now, Leaf blade," as it knocked Ducky out.

"Swanna is unable to battle servine wins," Brock said. Ash returned her.

"You did well. Take a good rest," Ash said to the Pokeball that had Swanna in it as Ash turned to Trip, who was impressed by how Swanna battled.

"She did well. I'll admit that she has a few moves that will be useful later on. Train her right, and I'd say she'll beat Servine next time," Trip said to Ash as Ash nodded. "Vanillish, you're next." It turned out that Vanillite evolved.

"Ah, I see that your Vanilite evolved. Okay, Litwick, you up," Ash sent out Litwick next.

"Trip figured you'd sent out a fire type for this battle, Ash. Still, you'll need to do more than that to beat me, Water Pulse" That caught Ash off guard, and he looked up his moves after commanding him to dodge and noticed that he had moved against not only ice types but mainly cause of its part fire type but also its main weaknesses.

"Okay, Flamethrower, let's go," Ash commanded Litwick as he launched it toward Vanillish Trip smirked at this, which Ash noticed.

"Oh no, you don't mirror coat," Ash wanted that. Trip forgot about Litwik's ability as it hit but did no damage cause of Litwik's ability as he absorbed it. "I forgot that it had the flash fire ability," Trip said.

"Now flamethrower," Ash commanded Litwick as it hit the Vanillish when its guard was down, hitting it and knocking it out.

"Vanillish is unable to battle Litwik wins the battle is tied one win each, "Trip returned, Vanillish.

"I must say I was so distracted with trying to one-up your Litwik that I have forgotten about its ability, given that I own its evolution," Trip said. Ash nodded.

"Trust me, I've made mistakes in the past type-wise, but it does happen to everyone," Ash said to Trip, who nodded.

"Gurdurr, you're last," as he sent out his newly evolved fighting type as Ash recognized how it looked.

"I see Timber evolved," Ash said to who Trip nodded and smiled upon hearing this.

"Yeah, he just evolved a few days ago, and now it's his first battle since its evolution," Trip said to Ash, who was impressed that he evolved not long ago and not much issue either as Ash nodded.

"Okay, Dewott, you up," Ash sent out his water starter, which surprised Trip.

"I'm surprised you didn't try your other Pokemon, but I understand Krokorok is part dark and won't. Stand a chance against fighting types," Trip questioned Ash, who nodded.

"Alright, Dewott, Water gun now," Ash commanded Dewott, who launched it toward Gurdurr.

"Stone edge blocks it," Trip commanded his Pokemon as the moves hit. Dewott has gotten stronger since Trip had last seen him.

"Now, Aqua jet," Dewott used it, but for some reason, Dewott missed Gurdurr by inches as if he had no control Trip noticed something and snapped a photo of it. Saving it for later after the battle. "Dewott, get control and use Ice beam," As he managed to land a hit on Gurdurr.

"Ugh, not bad Use Strength and knock him out of the air," Trip commanded his fighting-type Pokemon as he swung that support beam. It hit Dewott, sending him back as Dewott managed to stand up like it was nothing. However, it was evident that both of them, just battling, were at their limits.

"Use Razor shell," Ash commanded Dewott, who charged at Gurdurr with his two Schalchops glowing blue.

"Fight back with strength," Trip commanded. As the two moves clashed, both Pokemon were on the opposite ends, backs towards each other, and the two looked fine until they fainted; it was a double knockout.

"Both Dewott and Gurdurr are unable to battle. The battle ends in a draw with both sides winning one round each," Brock said as Trip returned Gurdurr to his ball.

Meanwhile, Ash ran to Dewott. "Good work, Dewott. You've battled well," Ash said as Dewott nodded.

"Thanks, Ash, I appreciate that," Dewott said to Ash, who nodded and petted him on the head. Who lets Ash do that? That battle got Emolga, who was watching, pumped up for some reason, but that came out of nowhere as she shook her head.

"Ugh, why am I happy to see a good battle like that focus, Emolga," Emolga said, noticing that Trip was walking over to Ash and Dewott.

"Your Dewott is unique, and I'd say he's different," Trip said as he pulled out his camera and showed Ash a close-up photo of Dewott during the aqua jet. The group noticed that Dewott was closing his eyes as Dewott was embarrassed.

"So even after we parted, it seemed like you still haven't gotten over your fear of looking underwater, huh, Dewott," Snivy interjected, which caught both Ash and Trip off guard, given Trip can understand Pokémon now, similar to Ash is now.

"Snivy, you promised you would tell," Dewott said to Snivy, who made an, I guess, gesture and turned to Dewott.

"It's not me who brought that out. It was a Trip here. I'd thought they wanted to hear that, given that you were still getting used to that during our time at the Professor's place," Snivy said to Dewott, who sighed and nodded as he knew she was right. As Pikachu gave a slight jab in Snivy's side.

"And you got on my case the other day about me poking fun at Ash about him not knowing about his Pokémon having known other Pokémon in the past, Snivy," Pikachu said to Snivy. Ash and Snivy sighed.

"Point taken, Pikachu. Sorry, Dewott," Snivy apologized to Dewott, who forgave her as Trip let those two finish talking.

"I'll let you all be for now and deal with this on your own I'm hoping to see you all at the Tournament in a month, Ash, and the same with you two, Misty and Brock. I'd heard that a couple of gym leaders here might be a part of the Tournament," Trip said to everyone, making them nod in agreement as that left Ash curious about who would be there. The trip left as Brock healed up the party.

With the battle over Ash and Co. Now prepares themselves for a big tournament, and with the truth about why one of Ash's Pokémon is always missing with its moves, more will come for Ash and Co as their journey to Nimbasa city continues.

Meanwhile, later that night with Emolga, after watching that battle.

"Ugh, my head, why is that Litwik looks familiar, and why was I happy for something such as a pointless battle like that is still getting to me," Emolga said. She could feel a small part of her brainwashing before starting to vanish. The watch she kept in contact with team Rocket was beeping with the message.

"Meet up with Buizel. You've got a lot of explaining to do," and no other words or orders.

"Oh great, the one mon I don't need right now," Emolga sighed. "But orders are orders," Emolga said as she walked off. Little did Emolga know it. Still, a particular grass snake watched the whole thing.

"Time to find out what she's been doing late nights lately and find the truth about Emolga," Snivy said quietly as she walked in the same direction.

Stay tuned.

And done finally. This chapter took longer than I'd thought it would be, not because of the battle, but that last part was wondering if I would add to it or what would be in the next chapter, which I'll get into later. After this chapter gets posted, the first third of the story from this point is finished. Yes, this will be a long story, and the Emogla arc, while short, will be coming to a close sooner than later. The backstory and betrayal of Emolga are in the next chapter. Guys, I'll see you guys next time.
