Hello, and welcome to Ash's Unova Journey, My version. Let's say I have a lot planned for the coming chapters, so let's start this chapter.
Chapter 37: Battle of the Connoisseur Cillian vs. Burgandy

The battle club continues as Georgia wraps up her battle.
"Now, Night Slash, end this match," Georgia commands her Bisharp, battling against a Renunclious who didn't stand a chance against the Dark/Steel type knocking it out.
"And that, ladies and gentlemen, Georgia moves onto the top 100 trainers." The Announcer says as Ash is with Stephan and Virgil watching the battle.
"Man, she's determined to surpass her grandfather," Stephan says to Ash and Virgil, who nods.
"Yeah, not like a pure psychic type could stand a chance against a dark and steel type. Like Bisharp." Virgil says that Ash noticed that Snivy was shaking seeing the Bisharp.
"Huh? What's wrong, Snivy?" Ash asked her as Snivy looked up at Ash and nodded.
"Sorry, Ash, but ever since my encounter with Pawniard from Amelia's team, I kinda have a phobia around the Pokemon and its evolutionary line," Snivy said to Ash, who made Ash look up Bisharp and realize it evolved from Pawniard.
"I understand, Snivy, but knowing Georgia, she wouldn't let Bisharp do that to you." Ash tries to comfort her, which helps as Georgia comes up to Ash and the others with Bisharp Georgia notices a little of this.
"Say, what's going on with your Snivy? I just noticed that he's acting strange around my Bisharp," Georgia said, a bit concerned and slightly annoyed, as Snivy was more annoyed that Georgia called her a boy. However, there are no differences in the genders of Snivy's evolutionary line aside from the Final stage which the females are taller than the males.
"One, Snivy is female, and two, she kinda has a rough experience with her former trainer who used to abuse her Pokemon with a Pawnard," Ash explained everything to Georgia and the others. Georgia was shocked by this.
"I understand wounds like that don't heal right away, but not all Pawnard or its evolutionary line is like that. Mine is female as well, and she's only rough in battle but is willing to make friends," Georgia explained to Ash and Snivy as Bisharp nodded in agreement.
"Trust me, I have no qualms with you, nor do I want to make enemies with you or friends of Georgia, so please let's try to be friends as well," Bisharp says as Snivy nods at her, feeling comfortable upon hearing that there were no hard feelings.
"I guess we can be friends and somewhat rivals," Snivy says, looking like some of her fears subsided as Bisharp nods.
"There will be a two-hour break, and then the final battle of the final 100 trainers between Cillian and Burgandy will begin," The Announcer says aloud as Cillian sighs at this.
"I figured that she and I would battle against each other," Cillian says as Ash notices the two portraits of the two trainers on the board.
"You know her, Cillian?" Ash asked to which Cillian nodded.
"Yeah, she's another Connoisseur like me but is only a Pokemon one in the second-lowest class, and she's also training for the league," Cillian explained.
"So she evaluates Pokemon, just you, huh?" Ash says, to which Cillian nodded in agreement.
"Almost. She's made some poor miscalculations in the past and doesn't have that much of a good reputation when she doesn't know the whole story, so if she tries to do one via looking at your Snivy with you, don't take it with a grain of salt as she might get Amellia's vibes off her, not yours," Cillian says as Snivy sighs at this.
"Of course, she would do that and mention her even though my past with her hasn't left me," Snivy noticed the trainer Cillain facing, which Dewott saw her curious about Burgandy.
"Snivy, is something wrong?" Dewott asked as Snivy nodded at Dewott.
"Say, doesn't she remind you of the trainer your younger sister went with Dewott?" Snivy asked Dewott, who looked at Burgandy and nodded.
"Now that you mention it, she does look like her. I remember that hairstyle," Dewott nodded in agreement, now remembering seeing her picking his youngest sister as a starter. Ash overheard this and turned to Cillian.
"Does Burgandy have an Oshawott or a Dewott Cillain by any chance? My Dewott's younger sister might belong to Burgandy?" Ash explained, to which Cillian nodded in understanding.
"Now that you mention it, I recall her having a young Oshawott when she faced me in a gym battle, Ash? Her Oshawott was very young and looked first to be inexperienced at battles. Nothing against your Dewott's family, of course," Cillian apologized to Dewott if he was offended by this, which surprisingly he wasn't.
"That's my little sister, all right. But, of course, my older sister and I were the ones who preferred to battle, and she just watched, but I hope she is doing well," Dewott explains, to which Ash translated to Cillian, who nods at this.
Ash decided to walk while waiting on the next battle to see how much Cillian had strengthened since the last time Ash faced him. Snivy was with Ash and Pikachu. Ash overheard some commotion and went to see what was happening. A young trainer was getting into a heated argument with Burgandy about something.
"You don't know the whole story about my Pokemon, and you are supposed to be a professional, and yet you don't listen to the trainer's side of the story," the young trainer said to Burgandy, who was brushing him off.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've heard it all before they were abandoned. They were just added to your team. To me, it doesn't mean anything. You are a failure of a trainer. That's what I see," Burgandy said as Ash ran over to stop the fighting. "Speaking of failures just by the looks of you and Snivy, there, Ash, is it?" Burgandy said towards Ash. Ash sighed and turned to the young man with a Deino, who looked to have a rough life.
"I think that he's telling the truth about that. This Deino went through a lot of Burgandy. There's a list of abandoned and or abused Pokemon that was out there that haven't been accounted for?" Ash said to Burgandy and the young trainer, who nodded at this. "I took that you asked for help, and you found your new trainer with him, right Deino?" Ash asked Deino, who nodded at this, smiling, telling Ash that he was happy with his new trainer, to which Ash translated this to the young trainer, who noticed that Ash had a translator. He thanked Ash and left.
This caught Burgandy off guard. "Wait, there is a list for this? How did I not know about that?" Burgandy said. Ash nodded at this and handed her that said list. Burgandy not only saw the Deino on that list but a few familiar names and Pokemon she could never forget. "Amelia, Shamus, I never thought I'd be seeing their names again," Burgandy said to herself.
"I think it's fair that we talk away from this crowd, don't you think, Burgandy?" Cillian said, walking towards Ash and Burgandy, who sighed in defeat and nodded in agreement.
"Fine, but don't think that changes things between you and me, Cillian," Burgandy said to Cillian, who nodded at this. Ash, Cillian, and Burgandy were now in the parking area, away from the crowd. "I must say thanks for clearing things up, but how do you know what that Deino said, and how did you get that list?" Burgandy asked Ash.
"I'm an associate of the league. I was kinda chosen to help those whom abusive trainers abandoned." Ash said to Burgandy, wide-eyed in disbelief, and looked at Snivy. Ash explained about the translator and what it was used for. "I've taken you've met Shamus and Amelia before Burgandy?" Ash said to Burgandy.
"I can answer that one, Ash. I was the starter chosen the day that she and Shamus came to pick their starters," Snivy said to Ash crossing her arm as Burgandy recognized Snivy just how she acted.
"I'm taken that Snivy was originally Amelia's Snivy, right?" Burgandy asked Ash, who nodded at this. "I see. I heard stories about their family. You might know that she and Shamus are siblings, twins, in fact," Burgandy said to Ash and Snivy. This caught Ash and Snivy off guard.
"That I didn't know? Did you Snivy?" Ash asked Snivy, who shook her head at this as this would explain many things. "I also have Shamus's Tepig now a Pignite," Ash said to Burgandy, who was shocked by this. "If I see him next, he will pay for what he did to Pignite. But I think you should listen to others explain what is going on. Yes, you have trainers like those two, but trainers either catch them and try their hardest to get to know them because they might try to report you for something worse you want that?" Ash said to Burgandy but not harshly.
"Fine, but don't think that will change my opinion about you, Cillian," Burgandy said begrudgingly with a sigh. Before turning to Ash, who lets out his Dewott. "If your thinking that I'm doing an eval on him, he's fine with you, in fact, much better than I normally see with trainers, " Burgandy said to Ash, who shook his head at Burgandy.
"I know that he's still getting better with me, Burgandy. I was told that you have a Dewott, and I think that yours may be related to mine," Ash said to Burgandy, who was taken aback by this but understood what Ash was asking.
"I appreciate the offer, but maybe tomorrow Ash because I'll be using her in the battle against you, Cillian. Don't think that I won't go easy on you. " Burgandy politely turned Ash down as she was somewhat in her rivalry with Cillian, who nodded and left as Burgandy left. Ash sighed at this.
"Sorry, Dewott, I was hoping that you would get some sort of reunion with your sister, but she confirmed that she has your younger sister," Ash said to Dewott, who nodded. "But this is big. Amelia is the niece of Giovanni. Now. The reveal of Shamus being related to her is just as bad," Ash thought.
"Don't worry about it, Ash. I know that I'll cheer her on in this battle," Dewott said to Ash, who could see that he was hoping to see his baby sister before her match but keeping a brave face. The next match was about to start as Ash and Dewott, and Cameron and his Dewott watched from the sidelines.
"Now, the last match of the day is about to begin. Will, the contestants, come on out, please," The Announcer said as Burgandy and Cillian came out. "First from Accumula town, a young girl who is a self-proclaimed Pokemon expert in Pokemon examining Burgandy," the Announcer said as many people who had terrible readings from her booed at her, not that Ash blamed them. However, Burgandy didn't need this to bother her right now. "Her opponent is one of the siblings who run the Striaton City gym and also Pokemon expert Cillian," the Announcer said. The crowd cheered at this.
"Man, I knew that she had a bad reputation, but come on, folks, she's starting to get better at this," Ash said out loud, which caught the audience's attention. Ash noticed that he was being watched by this and said the following. "Just because she made bad calls doesn't mean she shouldn't get all this. It's only going to make you just as bad as she is," Ash said that took Burgandy and everyone aback. "I'm not defending what she said before, but that doesn't mean she can't change," Ash said.
"Well said, Ash?" the Announcer said. "This isn't what this Battle Club tournament is about, ladies and gentlemen. You can't just boo people unless they're bad trainers or known to be hurting Pokemon," The Announcer finished. Burgandy was taken aback by this. Maybe she misjudged Ash without thinking she'd remember this. But right now, she has a battle to win. "Now let out your Pokemon, you two," The Announcer said.
"Dewott, come one out," Burgandy sent out her Pokemon.
"Whimsicott, come on out," Cillian sent out his Pokemon. The two Pokemon came out. Ash scanned Cillian's Pokemon and was surprised he wasn't using Pansage. Dewott, on the other hand, recognized Burgandy's Dewott and was indeed his little sister; Ash also noticed this from how Dewott looked. Both Pokemon were ready to battle.
"Dewott vs. Whimsicott, let the battle begin," The Announcer said.
"Dewott use Ice beam," Burgandy commanded her Pokemon. Her Dewott launched a strong Ice beam attack toward the grass Pokemon.
"Cotton guard Whimsicott," Cillian commanded his Whimsicott as it protected his Pokemon. It barely did much damage to it, showing why its cotton is widely known in the Unova region to be strong. "Now use Psychic Whimsicott," Cillian commands his Pokemon, who uses the move.
"Dodge with Aqua jet Dewott," Burgandy commands her Pokemon, who dodged quickly before she could get hit by Psychic. "Now, Razor Shell while you are using Aqua Jet," Burgandy commands Dewott hitting Whimsicott but not by much.
"Use Sunny Day," Cillian commands his Whimsicott as Ash knows what is coming, given that his Pansage knows Solar Beam, and Burgandy knows that she can't let it use that move either.
"Use Fury Cutter and Ice beam," Burgandy commanded as the combination of moves hits. Cillian was letting her do much damage as she could, but it needed to do more, as Burgandy wasn't doing much training after her Dewott evolved. As Dewott was exhausting herself, that was Cillian's goal.
"You still got a long way to go, Burgandy. As a trainer, your heart is in the right place, but you let your career take over your duties as a trainer," Cillian said to Burgandy as she realized that from the way Dewott was barely doing much and groaned at this. "Solar Beam, end this Whimiscott," Cillian commands as it fires a massive Solar beam towards a tired Dewott who couldn't get out of the way in time, hitting her and knocking it out.
"And it's over, ladies and gentlemen. Cillian clenched his spot in the top 100 for the battle club," The Announcer said as the trainer board showed Cillian as the winner. Burgandy ran over to Dewott, trying to pull a brave face.
"I hate to admit it, but he's right, Dewott. I need to focus more on my trainer skills than being a Conesseiur," Burgandy apologized to her Pokemon. Dewott smiled and nodded at this as she heard clapping from Ash and the rest of the crowd. Even though it was an easy battle for Cillian, it was a good battle anyway. Burgandy was taken aback by this and smiled at this before leaving.
"She'll get there one day, but right now, I think she'll need to focus on what her Pokemon wants than her needs," Cillian said as he walked towards Ash, who nodded at this.
With one more victory in the battle club, the trainers are narrowed to 100 as the battle continues.

Done, man; this took a long time to get done with all the rewriting and all that until now. For those who caught that plot twist about Amelia and Shamus and wondering where the Giovanni line came from, read the new version of Chapter 13. I will take a small break but not a long one, just for a week or the rest of this week, whenever this comes out. When we return, the next chapter will be a filler-like chapter as we will skip forward to the top 50 and reveal who is battling who in the next round. See you next time.
