Greetings everyone, Mgunnels3 here, and welcome back to part 3 of this three-parter. Sorry for the cliffhanger at the end, but it was for this chapter; I know I can add it to that chapter. But no, now is the chapter, and that said. Let's get this chapter started, shall we?
Chapter 47: The Promise we made pt3: Servine and Dewott a Promise between Brothers and Friends.
"Human Speech"
"Pokemon Speech"
Flashback to the day of the promise in question.
We see both Dewott and Servine back when they were Oshawott and Snivy playing/training together even though they couldn't use moves other than tackle—as the two were in a struggle as Oshawott's Scahlchop struck the back of Snivy's tail before it was sent flying.
"Ah, man, I can't catch a break, bro? You always managed to get the best of me?" Oshawott said as he was looking for where his Scahlchop went. This was the first time this had gotten thrown out of his grip.
"It's because you always use the same tactic against me, Oshawott. I may have the advantage against you and all," Snivy said, crossing his arms. "But I will admit you got better this time. You'll get there now. Let's find that Schalchop for you, or your sister would get mad at me, not just you."
The two starters looked where Oshawott's Scahlchop went as Snivy knew this was precious to Oshawott. Snivy noticed the end of the Scahlchop.
"Hey, there it is. It went pretty far this time around," Snivy said as the two walked over to it and saw that it cracked what looked like a rock or stone in half Snivy handed the Scahlchop to Oshawott.
"Hey, what is that? I never seen a stone like this?" Oshawott said while looking at the said stone. It was a greyish-colored-looking stone that looked important or something. Oshawott tried to pick one of them up, only for it to react to Oshawott touching it and going into his fur. "Woah, get it off, get it off," Oshawott said as the stone managed to get off his coat but onto his paws. Snivy carefully picked up the other one, which didn't go into his scales.
"We better find out what these things are before we figure out what to do with it?" Snivy said as Oshawott nodded at this. The two would learn about the Everstone found through Oshawott's oldest sister. This piqued their interest as they had never heard about this item. Then again, they are used to things other than things that humans would use.
However, Snivy's older brother overheard this. He was already unhappy about his brother hanging out with Oshawott, not because of their type advantage but because of how much his brother treats Oshawott more as a brother than him, as both Snivy and Oshawott walked off learning this.
"You know, hearing about this stone is capable of stopping evolving got me thinking, Oshawott?" Snivy said to Oshawott, who was curious about this listening. "You know that we were brought here because we will be chosen to be starters for humans one day?" Snivy said to Oshawott, nodded at this.
"Yeah, like my parents and yours, not to mention our siblings, given that my sister will leave soon? But what does this have to do with this "Everstone"?" Oshawott asked as Snivy sighed at this.
"I'm getting to that. The one thing that I will say is that we will have to evolve with our trainers, whoever they are. Let us use this to evolve at the same time when that happens one day?" Snivy told Oshawott, who understood this but thought of something.
"But what if our trainers don't travel with each other I mean, my parent's trainers aren't together, and my parents rarely saw each other after my little sister was born?" Oshawott questioned Snivy, who was taken aback by this as he hadn't thought about that.
"It's the same with my parents. What about our final evolutions then?" Snivy suggested to Oshawott, who was surprised by that. "I mean, it's only natural we can save it after we evolve first, then when we either battle next time we meet or on this day, what do you say?" Snivy asked Oshawott.
"I guess you were always the brains between us, bro, and I rarely come up with these things," Oshawott said, looking down at the Everstone he held. Snivy smiled and petted Oshawott's head, making a purr come from him.
"No argument there, Oshawott. I always look after you when your sister isn't, and I always will. Let's make a promise about this, shall we? To evolve to our final stage together!" Snivy held his hand out for a handshake as Oshawott smiled at this and shook it.
"Deal until the day we get chosen for being a starter," Oshawott told Snivy. The two were sharing laughter only for the older brother Snivy was watching this. He knew that he would leave the next day and had to do something, and he did by telling the whole lab about Oshawott's phobia of seeing underwater problems.
End flashback to the current day.
"That day, our friendship was still alive, and now I almost was trying to do what you brother tried to do to ruin it," Dewott said to Servine, holding his Everstone, a pure green color. Dewott pulled out his Everstone, a blueish color indicating that his evolution was due a long time ago.
"There was one thing that I will never stop being Dewott is there for you, and I want the Pokemon that I once called my brother, you, Dewott, not the one who still sees me as the one who started all this. I still care about you and will even after things are over," Servine said to Dewott as he threw his Everstone away.
"Yeah, I still want that as well. A promise is a promise," Dewott said as he tossed his Everstone away as walked over to grab his other Scahlchop, which Sevine let him do as Trip wanted this conversation to happen, not to mention Ash wanted it as well. "Okay, time back in. This time like before we stopped, I won't hold back," Dewott said, holding his two Scahlchops. This time it wasn't about his anger towards Servine but as his brother and best friend. Pignite, Ash's Servine, and Pikachu were smiling at this. Ash nodded at Trip, who nodded, indicating that playtime was over.
"Alright, Dewott uses Air slash," Ash commanded Dewott as he launched a slash of air toward Servine.
"Dodge it and use Aerial ace Servine," Trip commanded Servine, who dodged it and charged right in as his tail glowed and slammed it right at Dewott, who blocked it with his Scahlchop.
"Use Ice beam Dewott," Ash commanded Dewott, who fired an Ice beam right at Servine, hitting him and sending Servine back. They were exhausted and weren't planning on going down so quickly as the two felt something and smiled, knowing what was happening next.
Suddenly, Dewott and Servine were evolving simultaneously as the crowd was shocked, as did Ash and Trip. Dewott was a Samurott, and Servine was a Serperior. Ash and Trip looked up both of their starters as Servine, Pignite, and Pikachu were amazed that this would happen. Then again, they knew that it would be coming soon. Both Pokemon knew a brand new move as the real battle began.
"Alright, Samurott, use Razor Shell," Ash commanded his newly evolved Samurott, who pulled his Scalhchop out of his arm and charged at Serperior.
"Use coil and then Leaf Blade," Trip commanded Serperior as the Serperior coils itself, raising its power and defenses. Then, he used Leaf Blade as Samurott barely hit him before Serperior slammed his tail at Samurott, sending him back.
"Samurott, you okay?" Ash said to Samurott, who was getting up slowly.
"You may have evolved, bro, but the one thing that you still haven't learned is to stop being predictable," Serperior told Samurott, who growled at this. "Your Shell armor ability may be unique and keeps you in this match, but it can't save you for long?"
"So that is why Samurott's Torrent ability didn't kick in. Didn't he have it? I need to learn more about this later on," Ash thought before noticing that Samurott smirked at Serperior and looked at Ash, nodding at Ash, who smirked as well. "Right time to use that new move, huh, Samurott?" Ash asked Samurott, who smiled, nodded at this, and turned to Serperior.
"Man, Ash's Samurott also knows a new move, and Revenge is usually his primary strategy to end battle, but I think Ash isn't planning on using that move," Trip thought as Serperior was thinking. The same thing."Time to end this, Ash. Use Solar beam Serperior," Trip commanded his starter.
Serperior charges up and sends it right at Samurott.
"Now use Aqua Jet and Mega Horn," Ash commanded his starter, who charged in with both moves as Aqua Jet pushed back the Solar beam and Mega Horn hit Serperior. Both Samurott and Serperior were exhausted and past their point of exhaustion. Both of them would fall, but one managed to stay up. The other was down and out. Serperior was down and out, and Samurott was still standing barely.
"Serperior, no," Trip said in shock.
"Serperior is unable to battle Samurott wins. The winner moving onto the finals is Ash Ketchem from Pallet Town," the announcer said. Samurott smiled at this as he finally won against Serperior and passed out. Ash ran over to Samurott, pulled his ball out, and returned him to his ball. Trip returned to Serperior and walked over to Ash.
"Well, Ash. Well done. I agreed to this battle between these two for this reason alone. But like our battles before? I enjoyed it, but our battle won't be the same outcome next time," Trip said to Ash, who smiled at this as the two went to the Pokemon center as the last match of the battle club's semifinals will be in an hour.
"Hidden abilities?" Ash said as he talked to Professor Juniper, who was on the other line and was done listening about what had happened in the last two battles.
"Yeah, you heard that correctly, Ash. Samurott was one of two starters with a different ability than their normal ones, and the other was your Servine. That being Contrary makes any moves that lower her power or anything like that. And do the opposite and visa-versa," Juniper said to Ash.
"I see. I was worried about Samurott when he was battling his big sister two days ago, but I see that he is special, as is Servine," Ash said to Juniper, who nodded at this.
"Ash, there are rare Pokemon like that in Unova, but we have barely seen it in action. The Pokemon world is full of mysteries," Juniper told Ash, who was profoundly thinking.
"Keep me in touch about anything like this, Ash? And I'll talk to you later," Juniper said to Ash and remembered something.
"Oh, one last thing. I'm not sure if you have gotten word about this, but Volcarona and her kids have been moved to Professor Oaks lab to be safe," Juniper said to Ash, surprised and happy to hear.
"Any word on the other egg? The regular Larvesta is mine?" Ash asked Juniper, who smiled at this and nodded at this.
"Yes, her son and daughter are in good health and doing very well with their mother and training with her. You made the right decision to let Volcarona raise her son, and he'll be ready soon, according to what Jason told me," Juniper said to Ash, who sighed at this.
"Thank you, Professor, for giving me that information. I'll see you later," Ash said as Juniper nodded as the call ended. Ash went to check on his Pokemon that battled today. Surprisingly, all three were back to health and were enjoying their food.
"Rest, you guys, you earned a battle off. I'll handle the finals with a different team," Ash said as the group smiled and nodded. Ash walked off to the battle club to watch Misty's match. "Misty or Iris, will one face me in the finals? I need to figure out a team for both, but right now, I should wait until the match is over to stress over it?" Ash thought as he arrived at the stands next to Brock Eevee hopped on Ash's lap to watch this battle. Ash noticed and petted Eevee's back, who made a purr at this.
"Now for the final battle of the semifinals, ladies and gentlemen, and this will be a big one," the announcer said as Misty and Iris walked out to the trainer's box. "First is one of the Elite Six gym leaders who has proven until now that she lives up to her reputation from Cerullian City. Give it up for Misty," The announcer said as the crowd cheered as Ash and Brock were rooting for Misty.
"Now for the next trainer, the granddaughter of the other member of Elite Six gym leaders. She's showing why she is one of the strongest Dragon-type trainers to this date. Give it up for Iris," the announcer said as the crowd cheered even louder. "Now, will both trainers release their first Pokemon, and we can let this battle begin."
"Flygon, come on out," Iris sent out her ground/dragon type. Misty smiled as she pulled out her Pokeball and looked at Ash, who nodded.
"Today, I'm ready to reveal a new Pokemon to my team; well, not brand new if you know me," Misty said. Iris and the crowd were curious as Misty tossed the Pokeball she held. Only to reveal a Kingdra making her debut appearance in the battle club. Ash smiled at this.
"So that is what Misty was asking you yesterday, Ash?" Brock asked Ash, who nodded.
"Uh-huh, traded with my Boldore and traded back. Misty knew that she would need something to tackle Iris in this match, and Seadra had rarely seen in battle cause it is not capable of battling on land; this time, it could, much to our shock," Ash explained.
With the battle club reaching its final match, who will come on top and move on to the finals, Misty or Iris? Only time will tell as the battle club continues.
Stay tuned.
Done and done, man. Was this chapter fun but hard to write? I had this chapter planned out during the rewrite before writing this chapter. For those who are wondering, don't worry. We'll see Samurott in this story, especially when it comes to when Pignite's trainer returns. And yes, that is what Misty asked Ash to trade and trade back the Pokemon that can trade evolve. Don't get used to it because this is the only trade evolution in the story. We are only two chapters left in this battle club, and the next chapter is Misty vs. Iris to see who will face Ash in the finals. See you next time.
