Greetings, Mgunnels3 here, and welcome back to Ash's Unova Journey My Version. Before we begin, I want to mention something. As of late, I've been getting PMs about Pikachu, Snivy, and Emolga and the love triangle in almost every new chapter. That will happen, but only if I keep getting these. I am okay talking to my readers, but not being spammed by things like this makes it harder to work and differs from this story. I'll talk about this again if this keeps coming in an update. That said, let's get this chapter going, shall we?
Chapter 54: The Ruins of the Desert

We last joined our heroes as they heard about what happened to trainers attacked in the Desert nearby.
Misty, Ash, and others arrived at the infamous Desert Resort of Unova. "Misty? Wait up," Ash said to Misty as the group was out of breath trying to catch up with her.
'Yeah, Misty, my paws aren't meant for running that fast,' Zorua said to Misty, who sighed at this.
"Sorry, guys, it's just hearing that Emolga was behind this attack, and the fact she is now back with Team Rocket makes it even worse," Misty said to the group.
"Even if she is behind this, you know she is just doing what Team Rocket orders. She has no choice," Ash said to Misty, who looked down. Misty was about to say something, only to see a hurt Pokemon walking toward Ash and the group.
"Huh? Hey, you okay," Misty said as the group went to see the Pokemon, which turned out to be a Golett.
"Help, my friend and me, please," Golett said to Misty and the others as Brock healed him and was now willing to talk usually.
"Golett's aren't known in this area. They are mostly known to be around ruins and towers than desert areas, even if you are part ground type. What are you doing out here?" Trip said to Golett, whose head went down.
"My dad is placed here as guardian of the ruins of this resort. We lived here for a while," Golett said as Zorua translated this to Misty and Brock. Golett sounded very shy and like he's not used to talking to Pokemon, let alone people.
"You mentioned your friend. Is he around, or is he somewhere else?" Servine asked Golett, who shook his head.
"I don't know what happened to him. He just suddenly changed and disappeared. Dad was asked by his mom to take care of him for a while," Golett said to the group. Little did they know it, but the group was being watched by someone who had disappeared. Zorua, Pikachu, and Servine noticed this.
"This might be the work of Team Rocket. They've been after many things lately," Pikachu said to Golett.
"We also have to deal with Buizel's son if he hasn't been converted," Zorua said as Golett tilted his head.
"There is no Buizel out here, not that I have seen, that is? Though my friend is as stubborn as one," Golett told the group. Zorua noticed what Golett just said but let it go for now. The Pokemon who saw the group went missing, where a cave was, and what looked like a lot of digging.
Emolga was resting, pampered by most of the Pokemon of the Desert. "I still don't understand why Buizel asked me of all mon's to participate in this mission," Emolga said. "The sand isn't good on my fur, and the heat makes my fur sticky."
"Are you done complaining, Emolga? Your lucky that I haven't reported this to Buizel for your lack of helpfulness," a female Excadrill said to Emolga, who shut up upon hearing her voice. "Only reason I agreed to let you do the capturing and not the real hard work is because of our boss's orders, cause if I had my way, I would have you do all the digging by paws," Excadrill said to Emolga as Emolga had a sweatdrop.
"Touchy, aren't we today, Excadrill? Just because you are a rank above me, you think you can order me around like that," Emolga said Excadrill was about to say something as a Drillbur came running towards the group.
"Report humans are spotted again, this time with Golett," Drilbur said to the two as Emolga sighed and felt she knew who was with Golett.
"Great, this mission is increasingly interrupted by the humans in this Desert. I'll have to convince more Pokemon to help deal with them," Emolga said.
"You do that, Emolga and Drilbur. You will stay here. It would help if you weren't involved with this," Excadrill said to the young Drilbur, who groaned at this as he wanted some action. But nodded as this was the one who he looked up to now.
"Then you should have stopped me from turning him Excadrill, especially since I wasn't informed who he was to you other than vague hints, but okay," Emolga said before taking a few Sandile and a Daramaka with her.
Meanwhile, Ash and the others looked around and saw many Pokemon out in the resort, none of which were Golett's friends.
"Man, there is a lot of Pokemon here. Are you sure none of them are your friends here?" Misty said to Golett, who looked down in sadness.
"The truth is, Drilbur is my only friend here because of my shyness and being taller than a normal Golett," Golett said to the group. Upon hearing this, Misty was now upset at what she said.
"I'm sorry, Golett, I didn't mean to," Misty said, and Golett smiled and shook his head.
"I hate to interrupt, but maybe we should ask him what his friend is like. Something about what he said about Drilbur seem's off," Trip said, to which Ash nodded.
"You noticed that too. How would you describe your friend," Ash asked Golett, who was curious about what they meant but nodded.
"Drilbur is more than my best friend. He's like a brother to me, even treats me like one, more than any other Pokemon, as he's known me since my dad was asked to look after him," Golett said. "However, he's very competitive and arrogant, seeing most ground-types in the desert other than me as rivals, and knows how to run his mouth more than his speed which is faster than a normal Drilbur," Golett said, which made Ash and the others more suspicious about Drilbur more and more as Ash can tell the similarities of a specific Pokemon in Drilbur.
"Anything else you want to add about him, like his parents or personality, other than what you mentioned to us or what others think about him?" Brock asked Golett.
"Aside from his mother being an Excadril, not much family-wise I know about, but there is one thing that many Pokemon compare him to when it comes to his personality," Golett said, which made Ash and others curious. "Some of the Pokemon are tired of his antics to the point that they are saying that Charizard or Buizel must've raised him just from how his competitive and prideful side is," Golett said. That was what the group was hoping to hear.
"Ash, you don't think?" Misty said, and Ash nodded.
"I think Golett's friend and Buizel's son are the same, but maybe we can still help him and your father," Ash said to Misty and Golett, who nodded.
Before anyone could do anything, a barrage of Energy balls and Flamethrowers were thrown right at the group as Golett used Fire and Thunder punch to protect the group. Ash and the others noticed a pair of Maractus and Daramaka was growling at the group under a familiar-looking spell.
"Golett, you okay?" Ash asked Golett, who nodded at this.
"Don't worry about me. Those attacks mean nothing to me. As the son of a ruins guardian and a member of the Elite Four, I can handle this," Golett said. Everyone was surprised upon hearing this, and the group heard laughter which Ash and the others recognized was Emolga.
"Oh, your that strong? If I knew that, I would've converted you as your friend was," Emolga said in the distance.
"Emolga, we know you are doing this because you are ordered to this, but don't you think you've done enough," Misty said as Emolga snickered.
"Look, Misty. You are just making my job harder. I won't explain why we are here. Just stay out of this if you want me to return to normal, that is," Emolga said to Misty. Misty was going to say something, only to hear a loud explosion near the ruins.
"DAD!" Golett said, running towards where the ruins were, knocking down the Pokemon who were there to stop them. Ash and the others used this to their advantage to run after Golett.
"Ugh, why must they be involved in my first mission? Of all things, I thought they left by now," Emolga said before using her communicator to contact Excadrill. "The twerps and Golurk's son are heading that way, Excadril. Hopefully, you are almost done with the mission," Emolga reported as Excadril groaned upon hearing this.
"Ugh, even if they stop me, we always have a plan b wait until then, Emolga, until further communications," Excadrill said to Emolga, who sighed and nodded. Emolga caught the other Pokemon she brought as she captured for Team Rocket.
Ash and the group arrived were the ruins, which had a massive hole. Instead of its usual entrance, they head down to see that much digging was done. Only to see a massive Gollurk and an Excadrill standing at what looked to be enormous ruins.
"Amazing, is it a ruin that is known to be known in Unova history, your lucky that we are letting you see this place, but we won't let you ruin our mission," Gollurk said, which Golett was taken aback by hearing that he allowed this.
"What's wrong, little Golett? Don't recognize your dad? He's now working for a better goal for us, and by the time we are done with him, he won't be your father anymore," Excadrill said to Golett as he saw Drilbur beside him.
"Drilbur comes on, snap out of it. You and Dad, this isn't funny; after all, you let Dad and I take care of him betray us," Golett said tearfully.
"Hey, leave your son out of this. You don't think this isn't a new low for your group," Misty said to Excadrill as Excadrill sighed, looked at her son, and nodded.
"Trust me, twerp, I don't want him involved, not like he isn't around Team Rocket," Excadrill answered Misty. "Given that he was born into Team Rocket even before this who thing started, he's not a member. Even Buizel doesn't want him in it, nor I," Excadrill said, only for an earthquake to happen Excadrill snapped her son out of it, who passed out from all this, and pushed him to Ash and the others.
"His father and I rather have him be with you than be like this, so you got lucky today, twerps, so you can have him if he wants better than what we are going through now, so long twerps, our mission is done," Excadrill said before rocks crashed down as Ash and the others took him and ran out.
When they got out, they saw the hole they were in collapse, but so did the entrance to the ruins. Ash and the others were amazed that this had happened. An extensive history has gone just like that. Only to see more brainwashed Pokemon coming their way as they left.
"I think that we are away from the desert now," Ash said as Misty and the others were panting Drilbur was out cold from all of this but suddenly woke up.
"Mom, MOM," Drilbur said, only to see she wasn't there but saw the group and stood up, ready to attack them and growling, which sounded like a Buizel growl.
"That's enough, bro. They helped get me better before they took you. Your mom is not herself," Golett said to Drilbur, who lowered his guard and sighed.
"You okay, Drilbur? Trip asked him about any injuries or anything of that sort," Trip asked him, who humphed at this.
"What do you take me for? Of course, I'm alright. Who are you, and what do you want anyway?" Drilbur crossed his claws as Ash could see his Buizel in Drilbur by the way Drilbur was acting.
"You are most definitely Buizel's son Drilbur. I recognized that body language anywhere?" Ash said to Drilbur as Drilbur growled upon hearing his dad's name, which Trip was curious about.
"How can you say that, Ash?" Trip questioned as Ash sighed.
"Cause I own one, or should I say Drilbur's Uncle, he's acted just like that," Ash said but was interrupted by Drilbur.
"DON'T COMPARE ME TO HIM. I WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH HIM," Drilbur yelled at Ash.
"Easy, no need to shout at the ones who saved you from all that, and from the looks of it, you have issues with your dad. Then what is going on with your mother, I take it?" Ash said, which calmed down Drilbur.
"Sorry, the last time I saw my dad, he just dumped me here, and you saw what happened to my mother forced to do this," Drilbur said to Ash.
"You're not the only one affected by this, Drilbur," Zorua told him, who turned to her. "They took mine and Servine's mother and my friend's parents and Golett's father before your mother snapped you out of it until now," Zorua said to Drilbur, shocked, and turned to Golett.
"They took your dad, Golett," Drilbur asked Golett, who nodded sadly. "Then I'm coming with you; this is personal," Drilbur said, not asking but saying.
"Wait, you want to join my team Drilbur? I haven't caught Golett, and" Ash was again interrupted by him.
"YES, I DO WANT TO JOIN. I'M NOT REPEATING MYSELF. YOU SAID IT YOURSELF. YOU HAVE MY UNCLE, AND YOU KNOW THAT MAKING DEMANDS WITH HALF BUIZEL'S AREN'T NEGOTIABLE, " Drilbur yelled.
"No need to yell, Drilbur. It's his usual questions," a voice said it was Emolga as Drilbur growled at her remembering what she did to him.
"You again don't think you've done enough, Emolga," Drilbur said to Emolga, who sighed and held out her paw.
"And do you want your mother back, Drilbur? I was only doing what I was told to. Your mother was in charge of this mission," Emolga retorted, shutting Drilbur up. "Trust me, I could use attract on you to make you more cooperative towards this group if I wanted, but your father ordered me not to go any further on making you do stuff," Emolga said as Drilbur started quiet down upon hearing that his father asked her not doing this.
"Your father asked me not to let you join the group. I only found out that you were his son after I used to attract you, consider yourself lucky that he doesn't want you involved in this," Emolga said to Drilbur as Drilbur sighed and nodded, knowing that there was no way he could argue out of that.
"If you want answers as to why we are here, sadly, you are talking to the wrong mon because I want to keep my Pokeball here and when I'm free, not with Giovanni like your father. But if you want a solution to saving them, the rest of you know what it is, Zoroark's mother," Emolga said before tapping the Pokeball on Misty's waist and was returned to it.
"Well, that happened," Brock said to Misty, who was even more unhappy that Emolga did that. Misty tried to shake Emolga's ball and get her out for more explanation, but Emolga locked the ball to ensure that she was the only one who could decide when she was out of her ball.
"Misty, I know how you feel, but I feel like what she said isn't a bluff but facts," Ash said, which Misty calmed down. "Drilbur, I'll be happy to let you join my team, but I have a full party, and" Ash was again interrupted by Drilbur, but this time not in a loud tone.
"Then make room. I'm not going to whatever Pokemon lab in your region. I've already seen labs before and am sick of its site, and I don't care if my Uncle is there. I'll see him when my mom is safe. That is one of my demands for joining your team," Drilbur said as Golett sighed, knowing what he would say next.
"The other being me joining the team and staying on the team, is that what you would say, Drilbur?" Golett asked him, who nodded as Golett turned to Ash, who was surprised by this demand. "I was going to ask to join the team anyway, not just to save my dad but to be as strong as my mom one day," Golett said.
"Okay, deal, but please try to get along with the team, please, Drilbur, 'cause this team is treated as family, not cause of whoever says what. Is that fair for you," Ash asked Drilbur, who sighed, knowing that he should at least try to get along with the team and any ground types that Ash has.
"I'll try my best just give me a good battle Ash and try not to question me, and I won't give you issues; you know how Buizel's operate, so you shouldn't have problems with me, so deal," Drilbur said nodding as Ash's demands do seem reasonable for him.
Ash nodded, sent Fraxure and Scraggy back to the lab, pulled out two Pokeballs, and caught them. Ash sighed at this. "I've already dealt with his Uncle on one Journey. Now I have to raise Drilbur as if he was a Buizel," Ash said as he looked at the once Desert resort now under Team Rocket's control. "I'll have to report this to the league," Ash said as the group head back into town Trip took his leave while Ash was doing that.
That's another area of Unova taken over by Team Rocket now. Ash and the others are left with more questions than answers, even with two new team members. What else is in store for the group? As the Journey continues.
Meanwhile, Emolga gets a message from Buizel in the middle of the night.
"Agent Emolga is reporting Buizel; you got some nerve to interrupt a girl's beauty sleep. Do you do that to Excadrill as well?" Emolga said on her communicator, unhappy that her sleep was ruined.
"Trust me, Emolga, you don't want to know about that, and sorry, this was the only time I could contact you," Buizel said to Emolga, who sighed and nodded.
"Aside from a lesson you don't want to know at your age, I must say this, Emolga. Well done, Emolga. Thanks to you and my mate, the Desert ruins and resort are now under our control," Buizel said to Emolga as she noticed that Excadrill and Gollurk were at the base Emolga snickers upon seeing this.
"Humph takes more than a cave-in to stop them, it seems. I have taken there is more than congratulating me is why you interrupted my sleep," Emolga said, more annoyed. Buizel sighed and nodded.
"Your next mission, and then you can take a day off. It's with your last capture before you left the group," Buizel said as Emolga groaned at this as she knew who it was and the one she wished she wasn't going on a mission with.
"Ugh, anyone but, Ducklett. I'm sure even you noticed his capture was a mistake, given how he nearly blew the mission at the Roggenrolla cave when I wasn't with you guys. Even I wouldn't try to ruin that mission. Could you send anyone else but him," Emolga said to Buizel, who sighed and nodded.
"There's nothing we can do about that, Emolga, and you are in charge. We need a way to strengthen our team since the dark balls aren't as strong as the original prototype," Buizel said as Emolga smirked upon hearing this.
"Ah, Driftville Bridge? I'm confident the flying types and the assorted feathers can be helpful," Emolga said as Buizel smirked upon hearing this. "You know the area, Emolga?" Buizel asked as Emolga smirked at him and nodded.
"Let's say I have plans past that area for our bosses. That is all I'm going to say," Emolga said as Buizel sighed.
"And to think that I was more discrete about my words. By the way, look after my son, will you? While I hate the twerps, he's better off with them than being with us. Just make sure that your manipulation technics or the others don't affect him, please, and thank you, Buizel out," Buizel ended the call.
"Ugh, more babysitting, but orders are orders, Emolga; just nine more captures, and I'm free from all of this," Emolga said as that was her original self talking. Little did she know it, but her fur was changing colors, mainly the greyish/black on her fur was turning more darker the more Pokemon she brought as she had eight more captures left on her communicator.

Done and done, man. This chapter was a long time coming. Yes, these were two captures in one chapter. Golett was requested a long time ago when this story was in its original writing, and the same requester requested a lot more Pokemon later on. As for Drilbur? He was a personal request by yours indeed. I love Excadrill as it's one of my favorite Unova Pokemon outside of Snivy and a Pokemon that I wished Ash had caught in the anime. As for his relationship with Buizel, before I get this in the reviews. Yes, I know that it's not possible, but it's fanfiction. We can make it possible. As for Golett, they don't have genders. If so, what's the point of making personalities if they don't have one or have some backstories? *Sighs*Rambling over, it's the Driftville Bridge next, as another request capture is next.
