Greetings, everyone Mgunnels3 here, and welcome back to Ash's Unova Journey, my version. I might as well get this two-parter or part one of it going and then take a break. So let's get this started.
Chapter 73: Rematch at the Battle Pyramid pt 1
Flashback One year and Four months after the Sinnoh league.
Ash and Pikachu were outside the battle Pyramid, waiting for the okay to enter. Ash was still thinking about why Scott was asked Ash to return to this place yet alone for a battle. "Ah, Ash, good to see you again," Scott said, walking over to Ash's place. "Sorry for calling at such short notice two months after your return from Sinnoh, but it wasn't per my request for you to show up," Scott said to Ash.
"It's okay, Scott. You said that it was per the request of someone who beat Brandon. And now wants to challenge me to see who is worthy of the master of the Battle frontier? That is what you called and told me, but nothing of what the challenger is?" Ash said to Scott, who sighed.
"The new winner was adamant about battling whoever beaten the battle frontier first to see how strong they were. Especially since he's been away for the Sinnoh league before battling Brandon for the final symbol," Scott said, to which Ash glared and felt he was.
"The guy who beat Brandon wouldn't have a Darkrai and a Latios on his team, would he?" Ash asked Scott, who was surprised and nodded. "Well, it seems we have a rematch against him this time. We brought a much stronger team for a battle against someone like this, Pikachu," Ash said to Pikachu, who nodded and was ready.
"So, my theory about you are being strong at the league wasn't a fluke, huh, Ash?" a voice called out to Ash. It was Tobias. "It has been a long time to think the trainer, the only one who has beaten my two legendaries, is the winner of the battle frontier. This is going to be good," Tobias said to Ash.
"Good to see you again. Tobias and I had my suspicion that you were the one who beat Brandon, given that he took me three tries to beat," Ash said to Tobias, who nodded in understanding. "So how is this battle going to work rules-wise?" Ash asked Scott, which Tobias interrupted.
"I asked for the rules to be a full battle, Ash. If I want a challenge, I should get it at your best," Tobias said to Ash, who nodded, figuring he would say that after he wiped Ash's team in the league. "However, rest assured you won't be facing Latios or Darkrai right away as they will be in the second half of my team; however, the battle will be you are allowed to make the substitutions, Ash, to test you out," Tobias said.
"If you are okay with that, then I accept those rules, Tobias, and I hope to win, unlike the league," Ash said as Tobias smirked at this. "You earned my respect at the league even further by showing up as the challenger. Don't disappoint. Shall we head inside," Tobias asked as Ash nodded.
"Before you begin, Ash, this will place your winner of the battle frontier at stake if you lose this battle, Ash. I wanted to keep more than one winner, but it seems like that might not be the case unless the match ends with your victory or a draw," Scott said to Ash, surprised by this.
"Wait, I didn't sign up for that, but I can't back down now," Ash said before sighing and nodding as the group headed inside to see Brandon and his ref for the battle pyramid were waiting for Ash. "Ah, Brandon been a while since Sinnoh," Ash said to Brandon, who smiled.
"Been a while, Ash, and sorry again for putting you through this. Hopefully, you can prove how far your team has come for this battle," Brandon said as Tobias stood beside Brandon, ready to face Ash.
Ash and Tobias were in the trainer's boxes as the ref for the battle pyramid was ready to start things off. "The battle frontier battle of champions will now begin on my left, the first winner of the battle pyramid and the battle frontier Ash Ketchem," the ref announced. "And to my left, he has recently won the battle pyramid and the frontier, the challenger Tobias."
"This will be a full six-on-six battle per the challenger Tobias's request. As per also request, Ash will be the one who will make substitutions. The match is over when all six Pokemon on either side cannot battle. Now, will both sides let out their first Pokemon," the ref asked.
"Tyranitar, come on out," Tobias sent out his first Pokemon, which Ash wasn't expecting to see a non-legendary on his team. Tobias smirked. "Don't think that I am going easy on you, Ash? I had to change my team with most of my original team before the legendaries joined to be a part of this battle, so you will be facing half of that," Tobias said to Ash, who grunted.
"Sceptile, come on out," Ash sent out his first Pokemon, who was ready to fight as he noticed who he was up against and was surprised that he would face off against the person who gave Ash a lot of trouble in the league.
"Tyranitar vs. Sceptile, let this battle begin," the ref announced as Ash and Tobias were ready to start. Just as the ref announced, the battle begins Tyranitar kicks up a sandstorm courtesy of its ability Sandstream.
"Ugh, this is going to be a problem. Use Leaf Blade, Sceptile," Ash commanded his Pokemon, whose arm's glowed green, and went after Tyranitar, who disappeared into the Sandstorm.
"Ice fang now," Tobias commanded his Pokemon, who fired the attack at Sceptile, who barely dodged it but got clipped by the attack on the leg. Sceptile was clenching in pain from this being barely dodged, but the Sandstorm was also damaging him.
"Sceptile keep calm and try to sense him," Ash said to Sceptile, who calmed down and closed his eyes to try to sense where Tyranitar was. "Earthquake now," Tobias commanded his Pokemon, who slammed his foot and started making it hard for Sceptile to sense where he was.
"Ugh, Sceptile return," Ash returned his Pokemon to his ball. Ash knew that Sceptile could win that, but Tyranitar wasn't making it easy for him to fight in this situation as Ash pulled out another Pokeball. "Time for your debut since you evolved, Gabite. Come on out," Ash sent out his next Pokemon, knowing that Gabite could handle this battle.
"Ah, it seems like that little Gible evolved. It seems like the right choice given that Darkrai isn't in this battle," Tobias said to Ash, who knew that Gabite had the ability, Sand Vail. "Use Dragon pulse Tyranitar," Tobias commanded his Pokemon, who fired the attack.
"Dodge it with Dragon Rush Gabite," Ash commanded his Pokemon, who charged right at Tyranitar, hitting him and sending him back. "Draco Meteor now, Gabite," Ash commanded his Pokemon, who fired the attack sending it to the battlefield, hitting the Tyranitar and knocking it out as Gabite roared.
"Tyranitar is unable to battle Gabite wins," the ref announced as the Sandstorm subsided Tobias returned his Pokemon glaring at Ash, who knew that this was just the beginning of the battle and shouldn't let his guard down.
"Your Gabite has gotten stronger since the last time I saw it as a Gible. Humph thinks he got a good few hits off Darkrai, but this is only the beginning. I'm not holding back if that is what you are thinking, Ash," Tobias said to Ash, who nodded as Tobias pulled out his next Pokeball. "Metagross come on out," he sent out his next Pokemon. A shiny one at that.
"Don't underestimate this Pokemon Gabite. Let's go use Dig and then use Dragon Claw," Ash commanded Gabite, who dug underground Metagross didn't do anything as Gabite reappeared behind him.
"Meteor Mash now," Tobias commanded his Pokemon, who landed a square hit on Gabite before it could land a Dragon Claw. "Now, Psychic and then Ice Punch," Tobias commanded his Pokemon, who used the two attacks, knocking Gabite out.
"Gabite is unable to battle Metagross wins," the ref announced as Ash returned Gabite to his ball and sighed, now understanding that even without his legendaries. Tobias isn't messing around with his battles. His Pokemon and Ash shouldn't either, and he pulled out his next Pokeball.
"Charizard, come on out," Ash sent out his next Pokemon, who was raring to go and knew about who Tobias was from hearing it from Sceptile during their training together. Tobias glared at Ash and could tell Ash wasn't holding back either. "Charizard use Flamethrower," Ash commanded his Pokemon.
"Psychic and then use Thunder Punch," Tobias commanded his Pokemon, who couldn't block the fast Flamethrower, which surprised Tobias. However, Metagross recovered and used Thunder Punch to hit Charizard in the gut and send him back. "Meteor Mash," Tobias commanded his Pokemon.
"Block it and then Seismic Toss," Ash commanded Charizard, who blocked Metagross, even both of its arms, to ensure that it couldn't use another physical attack and slammed him to the ground. "Overheat now, Charizard, end this," Ash commanded his Pokemon, who fired a massive fire attack on Metagross, knocking it out.
"Metagross is unable to battle Charizard wins," the ref announced as Tobias returned his Pokemon Charizard roared but was panting like crazy. Ash returns Charizard, for now, to give him some rest for the time being.
"I must say, Ash, you've impressed me so far, and Charizard has gotten the best of my non-legendaries so far to think that I have to change up my team now," Tobias said to Ash. Tobias pulled out his next Pokeball and tossed it. It was Latios next.
"I see your other team has enough, so you choose to fight with your legendaries. Starraptor, come on out," Ash sent out his next Pokemon, and the two Pokemon stared each other down. Swellow couldn't do much against Latios, but maybe Staraptor could this time as the battle pyramid's top opens up for this battle and more.
"Latios use Luster Purge," Tobias commanded his Pokemon, who fired the attack at Starraptor. " Aerial ace to dodge and then use Brave Bird," Ash commanded his Pokemon, who dodged the attack and used Brave Bird as it hit Latios.
"Thunderbolt now, Latios," Tobias commanded his Pokemon, which Ash was surprised to hear as it hit Staraptor. Staraptor shook it off, but that Thunderbolt did a good amount of damage. "Giga Impact now," Tobias commanded his Pokemon, who charged at Staraptor.
"Brave Bird now, Staraptor," Ash commanded, who charged at the Giga Impact; as the two moves clashed as Latios was sent out of orbit. "Now, Aerial Ace, while he is not moving, Starpator," Ash commands, slamming right into Latios. Who shook it off, but the damage was showing in this fight. Ash noticed this as well, and it was also affecting Staraptor. "End this with Brave Bird," Ash commanded him.
"Giga Impact now," Tobias commanded his Pokemon. The smoke cleared as the two Pokemon clashed, and both were knocked out. Both Ash and Tobias were surprised.
"Staraptor and Latios are unable to battle," the ref announced as both Pokemon were returned to their balls. Ash may be ahead by one Pokemon, but this was only the beginning, especially now that Tobias was using his legendaries.
Tobias smirked at this. "I must say, Ash, you've battled well so far to think the next Pokemon that I was going to use against you at the league will be the next one you will be battling. If you had beaten this next one, you probably would've won the match because I would've forfeited the match given that you have already done enough," Tobias said to Ash, who glared at Tobias. Tobias sent out his next Pokemon, a Zapdos.
Ash was surprised but knew who to use next as Ash sent out Charizard for this battle. "Just a heads up, Charizard has beaten a member of the trio that Zapdos is in here in the Battle Frontier, so don't think that this will be an easy battle," Ash said to Tobias, who looked at Ash.
"You mean Articuno from the Battle Factory. I won't lie; I can agree that Articuno isn't easy either, from what I remembered," Tobias said to Ash and smiled. "Let's see how well you can handle this Pokemon. Use Thunderbolt," Tobias commanded his Pokemon.
"Charizard Flamethrower," Ash commanded his Pokemon as the two Pokemon attacks collided.
To Be continued.
Done and done. I thought I could get this chapter out of the way for you all as I felt like this would be an easy chapter to write. I gave him a few Psuedo, which is my plan for his team when we get to the PWT until he faces Ash or another trainer who is worth the legendaries. And no, I wasn't planning on making his team easy to beat. Originally I had planned on his third Pokemon being either a Dragonite or a Salamence, but I felt that was a bit too much. Let me know about that. Also, when I wrote this chapter, I won't lie; I forgot the other two mons for Ash outside of Pikachu for the remaining ones. I do have the fifth slot ready for Tobias, as well as Darkrai as his last one. I'll try to come up with them, but I wouldn't be mad if you all picked. The battle concludes next chapter and won't end how you think it will. See you next time
