-Naruto-
"That was adorable! Did you see him? He was barely out of middle school! And he tried to sell me drugs!"
Kurama snorted.
"The location was even more laughable. Sure, it was a dark alley. In the middle of the nice part of town. Seriously, even a kid like that could probably make a little money or at least how to do it right if he went to the red light district. Although he's probably better off just mowing lawns or something like that. At least wait until you're a little older before doing something that stupid."
"If you wanna talk about ethics, aren't you a little more worried that he tried to sell drugs to a seven-year-old?"
"Meh. It wouldn't affect you anyway."
"It wouldn't?"
"Drugs are poisons, idiot. You're immune to poisons. Do the math."
"But isn't caffeine a drug?"
...
No.
Say it isn't so.
Is that why Naruto hasn't been very affected by the coffee recently?
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
.
-Shisui-
.
Shisui had no idea how this happened.
He was minding his own business, taking a well-deserved day off, when Naruto practically breaks down his door and collapses on his floor in a hysterical fit. What's even more confusing is that he's leaking Kyuubi chakra everywhere, and mumbling incoherently through it all.
And when Shisui managed to get just a few words out of him, it was just "Kurama's grieving.". What's he supposed to do with that? Who the heck is Kurama, and why is Naruto having a mental breakdown if Kurama's the one grieving?
It takes almost an hour, but Naruto just barely managed to calm down enough to get it out. Apparently the Kyuubi introduced him to coffee to encourage his chaos, and now that he's using more of the Kyuubi's chakra he's immune to all drugs and poisons, including caffeine.
...
Well, Shisui's joining the grieving pile.
.
-Itachi-
.
Itachi is a little confused. It's almost dinnertime, and Naruto hasn't made a peep of noise the whole day. That hasn't happened since... Well, Itachi's not sure when that last happened. Even if he's not being a general gremlin, he usually shows up for a meal on his quieter days.
Being a responsible child, Itachi asks around only to find that no one else has seen Naruto outside of his coffee shop. That turned out to be a dead end, since apparently Naruto uses clones to run his coffee shop and they seem to have no mental connection with the original. Back to square one.
Now the police force is looking (because they've started a strange alliance with the menace, and they like to stick it to the ANBU that he likes them now), but all they can find is witness reports of Naruto absolutely losing it out of nowhere in the middle of the street and bolting in the general direction of the Uchiha compound.
If Naruto had a breakdown, and if he was heading toward the Uchiha compound, then logically he probably would've gone to either Sasuke and Itachi's family or to Shisui for support. Since no one from Itachi's household had seen the blond kid all day, Shisui was Itachi's best bet.
Itachi wasn't quite sure of what he was supposed to do with the pile Naruto and Shisui had managed to tangle themselves into. And he definitely wasn't sure what to do with the grief-stricken expressions on both their faces. Should he go get Mom? She'd be a lot better at dealing with this than him... But he probably shouldn't leave them to suffer alone, right?
Mind made up, Itachi sent a clone to get his mom and stayed behind to try and do something. What exactly that something was, Itachi wasn't quite sure. Shisui would probably know, but are you supposed to ask the grieving person why they're grieving? Well, it probably won't hurt.
"Shisui, why are you two so upset?
Shisui sniffled.
"Naruto can't get a caffeine high anymore!"
Itachi isn't quite sure what to make of that. Seeing his confusion, Shisui elaborates.
"Don't you remember the crazy things that would happen whenever Naruto would get a caffeine high?! No more of that! None! His gremlin moments will forever be diminished by the lack of caffeine in his schemes!"
Naruto wailed as if physically pained.
"Fuzzy cries so loud! Stop giving me a headache and let me mourn!"
This was getting more confusing by the second. What can Itachi even do here? He probably can't do anything to get rid of Naruto's immunity to drugs. Isn't that normally considered a good thing?
Actually, the problem seems to be more Naruto's diminished ability to create chaos than the actual lack of caffeine influence in his life. In that case, all Itachi has to do is show him he can still wreak havoc, right?
Itachi considered the merits. He weighed his options. He came to a conclusion.
"Couldn't you still give coffee to your foxes?"
And just like that, you'd think Itachi just promised salvation to their poor, lost souls. There was much joy and celebration. Kurama even swore to celebrate this holiday for millennia to come. Until Shisui opened his big, fat mouth.
"Hey, isn't alcohol a poison too?"
...
Kurama's back to mourning.

A/N - It's a smaller word count, but I'm a college student who had a nightmare about coffee losing its effect. There was no way I wouldn't make a joke out of that.
