Disclaimer: I own nothing except my OC's
A/N:It has been brought to my attention that I made a mistake in one of my earlier chapters regarding the names of the Blue Wizards their names are Alatar and Pollando. I am extremely sorry for anyone who was mislead, and I shall be sure to triple read the chapters before posting them to try and ensure that this doesn't happen in the future. :)

Fili grabbed Leila's arm and pulled her close. Almost too close. Their faces were mere inches apart. Her heart began to beat rapidly, as they gazed into each other's eyes. They seemed to stay that way for an eternity. Finally he spoke, his voice hardly above a whisper," You've been avoiding me." He was breathing very heavily, and examining her face.
" I have not." Leila wished she sounded more convincing, but her voice could also barely reach above a whisper.
"I am not daft, Leila, I can see you turn the opposite direction when you see me approaching. I notice you get fidgety, when we are in the same room, and yet right now you seem so calm, so.. confident."
Leila, was the opposite of calm, internally she was screaming, her face was ablaze with heat from the bodily contact, and confident? Leila had never been less confident in her life; she was excellent at playing pretend, however, for she just kept looking at his face. Her eyes seemed to wander to the wet hair that curled in little strands framing his face, to his braids in his beard that swayed a little when he spoke.
" You seem to distrust me master dwarf, for when I tell you the truth you seem to not believe me." Leila didn't like to lie, but she hated the thought that she had been so obvious in her discomfort, she had been trained better than that.
"Fili." he said hushed.
"What?"
"Why do you call me master dwarf? Call me Fili, it is my given name after all."
Leila gazed into his Durin Blue eyes, and saw a laugh, he was teasing her. She wrestled her arm from his grip. " No." was all Leila could think to say. She was turning to walk away when Fili was in her path again.
"C'mon, call me Fili. the more you practice the easier it becomes." A grin played on his lips as he spoke. "Not to mention," he said in a low voice leaning close to her ear, " it sounds so wonderful when you say it." Leila was sure she was going to die her heart was beating so fast, she knew her face was crimson. No one had ever spoken to her in such a way. She was dumbfounded how was she to respond? What in Iluvatar was wrong with this dwarf? Had he had a head injury recently? Leila pushed past him and stuttered out, " I should go... reading... catching up." It took all her will power not to bolt to her room, until she knew he was well out of sight.

Fili couldn't help but chuckle as Leila half ran away from him, it was fun to flirt with her. Yes he was flirting, it was hard not to for multiple reasons. 1) it was in his DNA, rumor had it before the dragon attack even Uncle Thorin had a way with the ladies, ( Fili suspected that he still might if he tried), 2) Leila was easy to flirt with she was so awkward about it, it was adorable, and she had no clue how to flirt back which made it all the more entertaining.
Fili found his way back to where the dwarfs were staying, most of them were back from the bath, but a few were still gone. (Probably got lost.) Fili got his shirt on, and tucked it into his trousers. Many of the dwarfs were finding ways of entertaining themselves. They were doing things like whittling furniture down for kindling, and tinkering with things they had brought along, pulling plants up to make life more inconvenient for the elves(Bilbo protested vehemently). The dwarfs were bored, they had stayed here too long, there was nothing here that excited them, nothing that gave them passion, or that they were passionate about; except maybe their hatred of elves. Fili, for the last few weeks, had been quite melancholic when he realized that Leila was avoiding him. He never thought he would be one to "pine" for a woman, but that is what he found himself doing with Leila. At least this is what he thought pining after someone was. He yearned for her when she wasn't near him, longed for her voice when she was silent, and hoped everyday to see her smile. He made the mistake of once confessing such things to Kili, and didn't hear the end of it for close to a week. He told Fili that he sounded like a love sick donkey. (Not that either of them knew what that sounded like.)
Fili sighed. He knew he needed something to keep his mind occupied, and off a certain someone. They needed to leave this place, they needed to continue on their journey, they were losing time. He tried to understand what his uncle's decisions, but he couldn't understand why they had stayed here for so long. He wondered if Leila would stay,or if she would dare to follow them. His thoughts were interrupted by his uncle. "Fili," Thorin's voice was hushed, we leave tonight. None of the elves can know, they would not give our quest their blessing." This last part he said like they were poison in his mouth.
"Yes, uncle I shall make sure we are ready when you say."
"I have already told, Balin and Dwalin. As for the rest, don't tell them until later, or else we may be caught." Thorin turned to leave, but not before saying, "Say nothing of our plans to the elf maid." with that he walked away.
Fili guessed he had his answer then...Leila was to stay in Rivendell.

Leila's heart was still pounding when she entered her room, her book clutched tightly to her chest. Why did Fili have to make her feel this way every time they were in somewhat of a close proximity of each other. She couldn't erase the image of his blue eyes gazing back at her, nor could she banish the memory of his words.
"It sounds so wonderful when you say it."
Leila's face became hot again, her heart and stomach fluttered when she thought of his words. She eyed her bed post, wondering if it could not any of the common sense she had once possessed back into her brain. Leila knew that if her feelings continued it would end badly. When she cared for anyone they always seemed to die. Leila resolved that she must dislike Fili as much as she could. If she could find things that she disliked she could distance herself from these feelings and focus on his flaws.
She made her way out onto the balcony, propped herself upon the banister, and tried (but failed) to focus on her book. All she could think of was Fili. It was a nuisance, the damned dwarf was obtruding upon her every waking, and sometimes sleeping, thoughts. Leila was frustrated, she couldn't read because she was thinking about Fili, and she couldn't think about Fili without her heart racing, so she was just in a constant state of thinking she was going to heartbeat herself to death, and it was exhausting. Probably the most exhausted Leila had ever been, and she had almost died, and come back.
She thought back to the night that Fili had visited her chambers, and how she had spilled her pitiful life story to him. Well part of it anyway. She buried her head in her hands, that was why she had been avoiding Fili like he was an orc. She had told him such personal details of her life, and now she just knew he saw her as weak. The way he looked at her had changed, and she figured it was because he felt that she was fragile, and would easily break. She wasn't but she didn't know what she could say to Fili, without being vulnerable. Thankfully she was rescued from her thoughts by a light knock at the door. She opened it to reveal Arwen. She let her in and shut the door.
"You're leaving." Arwen said somewhat forlorn.
" I am?" Leila was surprised. Nothing had been said to her about leaving. Then she felt a pang of sadness. She only saw Arwen when she came to Rivendell, which was not every often. She looked at her friend's eyes, this had not been a long enough visit. She was faced with the realization that she may never see Arwen, Elrond, or any of her friends again. She was saddened by this, but light with the thought that she may get to see her family again. She picked up her pack from the corner and began to search through it for her travel clothes. Arwen touched her arm.
"I'll miss you." she said.
"I'll miss you,too."
They each touched their hands to their hearts, and pushed outward.
" You have a long journey ahead of you, Monelwen, I am sure you know that you may not make it out alive." Arwen told her seriously.
" That's the funny thing about life," Leila responded, "none of us do."
" I was planning on leaving with you and seeing you part of the way, but it seems it's not to be."
" Leave with us?" Leila was startled.
" I am to leave for Lothlórien soon, but my father doesn't want to let you leave, for fear of what you could awaken."
" Is he worried about the dragon, or does he fear something worse?"
" He would not divulge such information to me. However, you must leave soon, the dwarfs will head towards the mountains."

The dwarfs slipped out of Rivendell, the way they had come, under the cover of dusk. They came to the top of a cliff, over looking the Valley of Imladris. Fili turned to gaze upon the valley one last time. Thorin had gathered them all around after they had packed their things. "Gandalf, has told us to leave, and wait for him in the mountains, there we will rendezvous with him." he explained," we must leave before dark, but not when it is too light, we must be stealthy." Stealth was not a dwarfs strength; they were much more take the problem head on folk.
Fili was brought back to the present when Dwalin clapped him on the shoulder, " This valley is nothing, compared to the wonders you'll see in Erebor lad, don't gaze too long."
Flili turned his back on the valley and said, " I have no doubt in my mind, Dwalin."
The group started to make their way from the clearing into the forest that led from it, when they heard a voice, " Thought you could just leave me did you?"
Immediately swards were drawn, a tight circle was formed, and 13 dwarfs, and 1 hobbit, frantically looks from side to side, trying to find the source.
"Up here." the voice came. Fili looked up, and there in a giant oak tree, sat Leila.

Also in reviewing chapters already published I noticed another error, I wrote Leila's name as Monelwen, and like an idiot didn't check my notes to double check. The name Leila in elvish is actually Mordollwen, my brain meshed it with a different elven name and i'm really sorry it it's confusing. Hope this doesn't discourage you from reading more.
Now we venture into the mountains. Do you guys like where the Fili x Leila relationship is going?(slowly but surely.) I would love to hear your opinions. I know it took me a long time to finish and upload this chapter, and I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, but I do sincerely apologize. I hope all of you are staying safe, and that you haven't given up hope on me just yet.
