Entrance Exam
As a kid from the boonies who hadn't ever been to Vale, the view from the bullhead was nothing short of incredible. His motion sickness only made the trip slightly less enjoyable
After getting to second base with a garbage can Jaune decided to explore the city, he actually had a few days to settle down until the exam began which left plenty of time for adventure
Leaving his luggage at his hotel, he stopped by a Mistrialian restaurant for lunch and had some incredible egg fried rice and then checked out some stores
Jaune was never really one for fashion or shopping so by "shopping" he was really just looking for a place to restock on gravity dust
The stuff was really hard to get in Ansel, and his dad had taught him a bunch of cool ways you can use it for training which he was planning on abusing heavily
So he headed to the nearest family run dust shop (always nice to support local), the old man running the shop was quick to point him in the right direction and he was quickly frowning at the price, but decided to get a little bit and experiment with it before finding a way to make some Lien
After leaving the store with a wave he held the door open for a cute girl blasting music through her headphones who blushed and gave him a smile, kinda reminded him of his older sister Vermillion except much less intense
Jaune got about a block away when he heard a skidding and turned around to see a truck pull up to the dust store and armed men rush in
He quickly bolted into action, pulling out his scroll he called the police while in full stide
"Hello I'd like to report an emergency! There's a robbery going on at the store From Dust Til Dawn, I am an huntsman in training about to engage. Please bring backup and medical just in case, over and out" After hanging up the phone Jaune smiled
'Damn I sounded cool' he thought, finally nearing the entrance he had to dodge a body flying out of the front window and shattering the glass
Peeking into the store he saw the cute girl from earlier holding a massive mechashift scythe and absolutely destroying the henchmen
Realizing he wasn't needed for the fight he quickly secured the remaining civilians in the building, before spotting the main baddie lining up his cane to shoot the cute Scythe girl
'Man what a weird day' Jaune thought before throwing his shield to block the shot and causing a great burst of smoke to come from the following explosion
After the smoke cleared cleared, the weird haired man was nowhere to be seen
Quickly grabbing the girls hand to her surprise, he ran outside and started looking around only to spot a glimpse of orange on the roof
"He's on the roof! You got a way to keep up with him Red?" The girl blushed at the nickname before nodding determined
"The name is Ruby, and you bet I do!" She exclaimed before disappearing into a pile of rose petals
Quick on the uptake, Jaune ran back into the store and started sprinting up the fire escape
Short of breath when he got to the top, he spotted a bullhead pulling away and a woman he recognized as Glynda Goodwitch trying to stop it with her famous telekinesis semblance
Just as it looked like Glynda would succeed a strikingly beautiful woman launched fireballs as cover, allowing the criminal to escape
Jaune approached the two hesitantly, it looked like Ruby was getting an earful. Maybe something to break the ice?
"Sorry to interrupt you two lovely ladies, but we'd better go give our report to the police" Strangely enough Glynda looked far more pleased with the second part of his statement
"Mr. Arc, I wish we could have met under better circumstances. My name is Glynda Goodwitch, professor at Beacon academy, and I don't condone you acting without a hunters licence no matter who your family is, but you are correct let us notify the officers on duty of the situation" She said causing Jaune to cringe at the rigid response before he smiled and turned to Ruby
"Nice to meet you Ruby, My name is Jaune and I was really impressed with those Scythe moves. You're a modern day Grim Reaper" he said with a smile once again causing her to explode with a blush, something told Jaune that she didn't get many compliments
"Thankyousomuch! Her name is Crescent Rose and I made her myself! She also says 'thank you Jaune'" She said in a fake fancy voice at the end and then cringed when looking at his blank face
That was before Jaune burst out in laughter
"I think we're going to be great friends!" he said with a smile causing her eyes to widen before matching his smile
"Don't think this gets you two out of writing the police reports" Glynda said dryly causing them both to look at her at attention
"Yes Ma'am!" they said grinning in unison
At the police station they somehow ended up in an interrogation room, where Jaune and Ruby were sat down before a pacing Glynda
"Of all the arrogant, self-entitled, Buffon decisions, you two certainly aren't lacking" She said with a harsh glare smacking her riding crop into the table
"Ruby you could be expelled from Signal, and Jaune... Well Jaune we called your father and he certainly wasn't happy" Ruby looked down at the comment while Jaune merely raised an eyebrow
"Nothing makes that geezer happy" he responded cheekily and Jaune swore he saw a microscopic upturn of Glynda's cheek before it immediately disappeared
"The point is you two are in serious-"
"Peace Glynda" the Good witch was interrupted by a new challenger, the headmaster of Beacon academy
Both people being interrogated looked at him with recognition and surprise which brought a smile to the old mans face
"Hmm, you have silver eyes" The man stated, and Jaune looked at his co-conspirator to notice that yes, she did have a set of two adorable silver eyes
"Kind of a weird icebreaker, but thank you for saving us headmaster" Jaune said as genuinely as possible causing Glynda to set a glare on him
"Oh it's no trouble, I fear if anything it's we who should be thanking you Mr. Arc" he said and took a breath as pause
"Frankly had the Apathy been left unchecked, we could have lost all of Ans-" Jaune spluttered out a response
"No need to thank me headmaster, just doing my duty" he replied on autopilot not expecting to get caught so off guard
The man smiled and then turned to Ruby
"And a Scythe wielder, if I'm not mistaken I recognize some of those moves from an old crow"
"That'd be because my uncle taught me everything! I used to suck with Crescent Rose and now I'm all like wham, and bam!" Ruby replied excitedly
"Quite 'wham' and 'bam' indeed" Ozpin responded and brought a hand to his chin as if thinking something over
"Well I see no reason for you to need anymore combat training Ms. Rose, and you as well Mr. Arc" he started
"Both of you have shown great skill in not only handling an emergency, but also ensuring the safety of all those present" Ruby and Jaune looked at each other confused at the praise
"Which is why I'm happy to extend an invitation to attend Beacon Academy"
Which caused everyones mouth but Ozpins to shoot to the floor
After the interrogation, Jaune traded scroll numbers with Ruby and headed back to his hotel but found himself unable to get to sleep
Looking at the ceiling in exhaustion he smiled
"I did it Noire"
And unconsciousness finally greeted him
