Chapter 35
The sea churned with its own weight, and amidst the chaos, a colossal figure began to emerge. The sight of what was appearing in the midst of the battle brought a fresh wave of shock, causing every man to stand frozen, their eyes fixed on the sea creature rising from the depths. None could move or even scream as the monster took all their breath away.
The creature was truly horrifying, like something out of a nightmare brought to life. It stood tall above the ships, its head being the most striking feature—a massive, menacing mass covered in rough, barnacle-encrusted skin. Its eyes, as large as shields and at least a dozen around its head, emitted an unholy glow, illuminating the heavy fog with an eerie luminescence. Sprouting from its monstrous head were countless tentacles, each as thick as an ancient tree trunk extending outward like the limbs of some ancient deity.
With a deafening roar that seemed to shake the very core of the world, the monster announced its presence, a proclamation of dominance that reverberated across the churning waters. It was a roar that demanded attention, a sound that echoed with an ancient and unfathomable power as if the creature had been awakened from a millennia-long slumber.
Indeed, there was no denying that the creature embodied everything one would expect from an ancient god-like being. However, strangely enough, this particular group of people didn't find the creature as menacing as others might.
"Huh, if I could calculate its size. It's just a bit bigger than Gargantua," Galadriel said, giving the large monster a good look. "It is different from the krakens in Yggdrasil, that's for sure."
"Mm, I do wonder if killing him will give us some rare loot," Pandora's Actor added, earning a thoughtful stare from Galadriel.
"You're right. We could definitely use him or what would be left of him for something. I suppose we could even make our own Kraken," Galadriel mumbled, already thinking about the possibilities.
"Don't you have [Call of Cthulhu] in your inventory, my lady?" Pandora's Actor asked.
"Well, yeah, but I won't use such an item in this world without a good reason. Not only is it very precious to me, but it also costs a lot of money. It's also a very powerful summon. I have no idea what it can cause here," answered Galadriel as she glanced at the large Kraken roaring yet again as if it was trying to intimidate her.
"My, my, such a stinky voice," Shalltear said with an amused tone.
"Indeed," replied Galadriel. "I wonder if he can even use magic at all."
Galadriel glanced downward and noticed her uncle and the red priestess standing on one of the ships, observing the mysterious creature before them. To her surprise, there was also a man with an eye patch present, resembling the junkies she often encountered in her previous world. These individuals would often claim that machines were implanting chips in their brains to manipulate them. She found this idea to be utterly foolish. In her humble opinion, machines had no reason to waste time and resources creating such devices to control humans. After all, humans were easily manipulated without the need for such elaborate measures.
Nevertheless, she did not want to harm them, and at the same time, Galadriel began to ponder whether showcasing her power to them would be a good idea.
The Red Priestess is a crazy follower of that Red God or whatever. I could use her to expand my influence on Essos in the future, which could work greatly for me. But then again, I don't want to make my uncle think I am a monster yet.
Galadriel thought as she hummed deeply, wondering what she could do. However, her thoughts were quickly interrupted by the creature's roar. It was so unnecessarily loud that it made her groan.
"So annoying. Shalltear, could you keep him in place for a bit?" Galadriel asked, and Shalltear could only smile at her lady.
"Of course, my lady!" Shalltear replied before glancing at the nightmarish creature. "[Greater Hold Prison]," she cast, and soon, the Kraken was surrounded by a large circle, freezing him immediately.
"Uh, no magic defence to speak of," Pandora's Actor stated. "A bit disappointing."
"Indeed. Nevertheless, he must have quite the durability. After all, his size must be good for something, right?" Galadriel asked.
"Maybe he can move, uh, later?" Shalltear mumbled, a bit afraid of having to face a weak creature in front of her lady. She wanted to showcase her power to her, to show her just how good she was and how much she could do to serve her. If that Kraken died so fast, it would be disappointing to her and Nazarick, or so she thought.
Galadriel noticed Shalltear's concern and placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry, Shalltear. This creature may surprise us yet. And if not, there will be plenty of other opportunities to demonstrate your strength."
Shalltear nodded, her confidence slightly bolstered by Galadriel's words. "Thank you, my lady. I will do my best."
"Now, what should I do with them?" Galadriel looked down at the ships.
"We can ignore them, my lady. They have not noticed our presence at all," Pandora's Actor said. "If you wish, we can just move them far away."
"Yeah, I guess you're right. Still, I feel like I am losing a good opportunity to get some followers by showcasing my power," Galadriel mumbled.
"That could be quite dangerous, my lady, to do in front of so many people," replied Pandora's Actor. "Unless you wish to get rid of the facade of being the... naïve little queen," his words caused Galadriel to let out a deep sigh. She knew he was correct. She had invested so much in maintaining that mask. It would be a shame to discard it all simply for the sake of battling a large monster.
"I suppose you're right," Galadriel mumbled lowly. "You can be quite boring. I don't remember making you so boring."
"You wound me, my lady. I am your creation, the perfect soul of the party," he replied in a teasing tone.
Galadriel chuckled despite herself. "Perfect soul of the party, indeed. I suppose I did give you a bit too much sass."
Pandora's Actor grinned, as they both ignored the Kraken's eerie glared at them. "It's part of my charm, my lady."
With the Kraken still immobilised, Galadriel turned her attention back to the creature. "Let's finish this quickly. Shalltear, release him from the hold. I want you and Pandora to assess his strength before killing him. Don't end too fast. I would like to know what a god from this world can do against us."
Galadriel then looked down and sighed. "I shall deal with my uncle. Don't worry, I won't just use my power... much or say who I am. I know what to do," she replied when she saw their faces. But it was clear that both guardians of Nazarick trusted her judgment on that decision.
"Understood, my lady," Shalltear and Pandoras's Actor said, before putting all their attention towards the big kraken before them.
Galadriel flew down, being quite thankful that the mist was hiding much of the scenery.
"Now, who would that person be?" Galadriel mumbled, wondering what had been happening here. "I guess I shall find out soon enough."
Down below, Euron stared at the giant creature with eyes only a madman would have. Nothing was more terrifying than the endless stare of joy from a man who wished nothing but chaos for the world. He smiled brightly as the surrounding sailors lost their minds at the sight before them.
"There it is! There he is…! The king of the sea!" Euron whispered, his madness showing. "See! It was me who called him! Me! Euron Greyjoy, the Third of His Name since the Grey King! The son of the Sea Wind!"
Euron exclaimed loudly, watching his god before him, roaring loudly. He was, in Euron's eye, everything he ever dreamed of and more.
"You see, red priestess, this is what a god looks like. No fire requires it, no sacrifice to a god abandoned by everyone except you," Euron chuckled, gesturing towards the Kraken. "This is how a god ought to appear! And when I ascend, I will be just like him!"
Melisandre and Stannis were both utterly shocked, their gazes filled with terror as they stared at the creature before them. How could they possibly defeat such a formidable being? How could anyone dare to challenge a god? The truth was, none of them had an answer, and Melisandre, in particular, struggled to find the right words to respond to Euron's statements.
"Look at me! Look at your messenger! The one who brought you here! Ascend me! Ascend me!"
Euron's screams resonated throughout the area, reaching every ship, causing everyone to comprehend the sheer madness of that man, of that individual. Yet, in a sudden twist, the atmosphere changed as they all witnessed a peculiar circle enveloping the colossal Kraken, rendering it motionless.
A hush fell over the chaos as the sailors, and soldiers watched in disbelief. The massive creature, which had just moments ago been the embodiment of raw, untamed power, was now held in place, frozen as if by some divine force. Euron's face twisted from a look of triumph to one of confusion, as so was the rest of the people.
To add more to the surprise of not only Euron but also Stannis and Melisandre was the fact that, soon, flying above them and landing on the ship without even batting an eye was Galadriel.
"Uncle, lady Melisandre," Galadriel spoke calmly.
Everyone simply stood there, watching the white-haired woman. She looked so unbothered by the Kraken, so unfazed by it. It took them a few seconds to realise that it was not a dream or a lucid vision.
"Your grace," Stannis spoke, still unsure of what was happening. "What are you doing here?"
"I flew here, of course," Galadriel replied.
Stannis found himself truly overwhelmed. His mind was in turmoil, unsure of what to think or believe. However, as a Baratheon, fear did not easily overcome him, nor did dire circumstances force him to back down. So, taking all the madness that was happening, he simply shook his head and stared at his niece.
"This place is dangerous, your grace. You shouldn't be here," Stannis spoke, with a cold tone of voice that made Galadriel amused.
Nothing faces you, eh, uncle? Galadriel thought, truly amused at the fact that this person was able to get a hold of his feelings so quickly. Or perhaps she shouldn't be surprised. This was Stannis Baratheon, after all. Yeah, I think this will be good enough for me.
"Don't worry, uncle. I am capable of protecting myself," Galadriel assured, casting a quick glance at the creature. Before long, they all witnessed the creature resuming its movements, unleashing loud and furious roars. The Kraken seemed to fix its gaze upon something in the sky, although it remained unclear to all observers. It appeared as though two entities were hovering around, resembling pesky flies that incessantly bothered and even dared to provoke him.
"They surely look small from here," Galadriel mumbled, watching how Shalltear and Pandora's Actor were trying to annoy that supposed god in order to bait him to attack them. The point was to see if that creature could use magic or something, but so far, he wasn't doing anything at all.
Galadriel held onto the hope that the Drowned God was more than just a mindless monstrosity. If he turned out to be nothing more than a simple beast, it would dampen her excitement and make everything dreadfully dull. A deity should embody immense power, a legendary being of strength. If it were to meet its demise at the hands of a mere simple attack, all of Galadriel's carefully laid plans would crumble. It would signify that, ultimately, these gods were nothing but feeble creatures deserving of her contempt.
Please, don't make it all a disappointment.
Galadriel sighed before she heard a loud cackle. It was from that strange one-eyed man.
"The queen of Westeros. The famous White Lion," Euron exclaimed, his eye devouring her with lust and greed. Galadriel could only tilt her head at him in bemusement. "You're as beautiful as they say. Your wings, the darkness of them. You're a step ahead of me. No doubt about it."
What is he talking about? Galadriel thought, confused. "You are…?"
"The next deity to arrive! The next tempest that is to arrive! One that shall endure for eternity, and within the chambers of the Drowned God, my recompense shall be bestowed!" Euron's voice reverberated with great intensity, causing the roars of the Kraken battling Shalltear and Pandora's Actor to unleash a minor earthquake.
Galadriel could only stare in shock as the crazy, one-eyed man appeared to wave his hand around, looking at the ugly creature above them as if he were about to receive a Christmas gift from it.
Oh, god. He is truly a junkie!
Galadriel shivered at the thought of having to see someone like him, even in this world. But another part of her thought was that she shouldn't judge people with addiction. It was something hard to deal with.
"But if you must, I am Euron Greyjoy."
Ah, I think I heard his name before. Yeah, it was that crazy priest or something like that. The one who wanted to bring armageddon to this world. What a weird fellow. Galadriel thought as she examined the crazy man before her.
"And you believed yourself destined for godhood?" Galadriel asked, trying to make sense of his madness.
Euron's smile widened, his eye glinting with a feverish light. "Destined? No, I am chosen! The Drowned God speaks to me, guides me! This Kraken is just the beginning!"
Galadriel felt a pang of pity for the deranged man. "You're delusional," she said softly, almost to herself.
Galadriel felt empathetic towards the poor little man, wondering what kind of drugs had led him to such delusions.
"Your grace, you must flee. This is a dangerous place," Melisandre whispered, standing next to her. "You're the lord chosen; you must not die until you fulfil your destiny."
Great, she is crazy, too! Galadriel groaned internally.
Soon, a loud groan of pain reached Galadriel's ears, causing her to turn her attention towards the source. To her surprise, she noticed that the Kraken was missing several of its tentacles. However, while everyone else seemed captivated by this sight, they failed to notice a particular silver-haired vampire who was engaged in a heated argument with Pandora's Actor, berating him for exerting too much strength.
Poor Pandora's Actor. He appeared a bit surprised to have cut the Kraken into a few of his limbs. He appeared a bit disappointed now, just like Galadriel, who could only sigh at the view.
"No physical defence, either," Galadriel mumbled. "Just a mindless creature."
Euron, catching sight of the Kraken's dismemberment, looked stricken. "What? What are those things?! How could they wound a god! My power!"
Galadriel turned her attention back to him, her voice laced with a mix of pity and irritation. "You've placed your faith in a mindless beast, Euron Greyjoy. This creature is no god, just an oversized squid and nothing else."
Galadriel scoffed and directed her attention towards the two guardians, effortlessly dismantling the Kraken's body, piece by piece. It was laughable that this so-called God Kraken possessed no magic. Though it seemed he had the ability to manipulate the surrounding weather, that was the extent of his power. Undoubtedly, while he was considered a deity in this world, to Galadriel, he was nothing more than a feeble creature.
"And I got all excited, thinking I would face a raid, boss," Galadriel sighed deeply as Euron was stunned at what he was seeing.
Euron's face twisted with rage and desperation. "No! This can't be! My god, my destiny!"
Disregarding his pleas, Galadriel directed her attention towards Shalltear and Pandora's Actor. "{Finish it quickly}," she commanded via [Message]. In response, a sudden burst of light emerged, emanating from one of Shalltear's abilities. Euron, much like Stannis and Melisandre, witnessed the Kraken being cleaved in half by this formidable power. As the blood tainted the surrounding sea, the limbs of the Kraken fell one by one, swiftly extinguishing the feeble existence of this godforsaken creature.
"So much for a god, huh? It's such a pathetic little thing. Now, it lies there, on the beaches of these pitiful islands. What a perfect combination," Galadriel remarked, earning a furious glare from Euron. She couldn't help but smirk at the sight of the scattered remains of the Kraken, gradually decorating the shores of the Iron Islands. It was a truly fitting conclusion for such a feeble creature.
Euron's expression contorted with fury and disbelief. "You... you've ruined everything! My god was my path to power, my destiny!"
He sounds like those cliche villains from movies. Galadriel found amusement in her thoughts, but she realised it was already too late to derive any entertainment from it. She couldn't remain here any longer. After all, another battle was about to commence soon, and she didn't want to miss it.
"I'll kill you! I will be ascended!" Euron yelled, pouring out his madness by grabbing his sword and aiming to strike Galadriel, who cringed at the way he spoke.
"Ew, don't touch me," Galadriel said, as she simply raised her hand and, without even caring, casted [Flesh Hole]; a sphere appeared and, like a small black hole of sorts, sucked Euron's body, and flesh like a vacuum destroying his body in seconds, and leaving nothing behind, but his boots, his armour and a sword.
Galadriel tilted her head, a bit surprised at how that spell worked. Yet, her eyes saw how the things left behind had an eerie feeling of magic on them.
Uh, that armour is peculiar, and that sword. Oh?! Is that Valyrian steel? Who would've thought? That one-eyed fellow left some loot!
"In anycase, Uncle, finish here. You shall not find resistance anymore," Galadriel said as she picked up the armour and sword.
Stannis could only nod, for what else could he do? Right before his eyes, a god, a legendary monster, had appeared, only to be swiftly destroyed by an unseen force that he could feel but not see. Adding to that was how his niece killed a man by simply raising her hand. Was that magic? Was his niece capable of doing magic? It was all too much for him. Truly, everything was madness. Meanwhile, Melisandre caught sight of those beings high in the sky and glanced in shock at Galadriel. Could they possibly be her lady's guardians? Perhaps they were soldiers sent by the Lord of Light to protect the chosen one. Melisandre couldn't be certain. Nevertheless, her conviction grew stronger that Galadriel was indeed Azor Ahai; the magic she wielded, the way she struck down false gods, nothing could persuade her otherwise.
Melisandre would do anything for Galadriel. She would die for her and kill for her.
"You're… you're Azor Ahai," Melisandre asked in a whisper.
Azor what? Well, as long as she is loyal. Galadriel only hummed deeply before looking at her uncle. "You two did not see me here. I shall answer some of your questions. But not here."
"Understood… your grace," Stannis replied slowly, wondering if he even wanted to know what his niece was at all. Perhaps it was better if he simply didn't ask.
"You have my undying loyalty, my lady. If you wish, I shall cut my tongue immediately," Melisandre said with a scary determination.
"Uh, not need, just remember, not a word," Galadriel smiled. "You too, Ser Davos."
Galadriel said as she saw Ser Davos simply hiding, too stunned to even speak or move.
Galadriel then spread her wings and flew away, vanishing as fast as she came.
High in the sky, Galadriel stared at both guardians. "Great job, both of you. I know it is a bit disappointing how fast he died… but well! Maybe the next god shall be more powerful."
"I wanted to prove myself worthy of you… but!" Shalltear sobbed a bit dramatically.
"Mm, like I say, don't worry, Shalltear," Galadriel replied, trying to soothe the True Vampire's cries.
"My lady, should I keep some of his meat?" Pandora's Actor asked.
"I guess we can explore some options. How about trying Takoyaki?" Galadriel murmured. "Sure, my chef should be able to whip something up. So, bring over some kraken tentacles! The largest one, make sure to keep the head and a portion of the body for experiments!"
"Understood, my lady!"
Galadriel smiled, thinking that this Drowned God could, at the very least, prove himself worthy of her stomach.
