Veilstone Contest
In the Grand Underground, Lincoln was in a cavern with a grassy field, facing a Pokemon with a yellow, bell-shaped head, and a stem-like body with a green leaf on each side of it. Lincoln takes out his pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Bellsprout, the Flower Pokemon. It prefers hot and humid environments. It is quick at capturing prey with its vines." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"I guess I could use a grass type Pokemon." said Lincoln before putting his pokedex away and pulling out a pokeball. "Infernape, go!" He throws Infernape's pokeball, and releases him. "Use Leer!" Infernape glares at Bellsprout; his eyes glowed red and Bellsprout begins to slump. Bellsprout spits a ball of purple liquid from its mouth and it hits Infernape, damaging him; Infernape slumps.
"Infernape, use Flame Wheel!" said Lincoln. Infernape charges at Bellsprout while a wheel of fire surrounded his body, and he rams into Bellsprout, dealing super effective damage to it, and knocking it to the ground. Lincoln takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Bellsprout, hitting it, and sucking it in. It wiggled a few times until it clicked. "Yes! Bellspourt is mine." Bellsprout's pokeball vanishes and gets transported to storage. Lincoln looks up his new Bellspourt's information on his pokedex.
"This says my Bellsprout is a girl, she knows Vine Whip, Growth, Wrap, Sleep Powder, Poison Powder, Stun Spore, Acid, Knock Off, and Sweet Scent." said Lincoln. "She has the Chlorophyll ability which I already know increases her speed when the sun is really bright."
"How are you doing, Lincoln?" asked Stella as she and the rest of the group entered the cavern.
"Great; just caught a new Pokemon." said Lincoln as Stella over to him and kisses him on the lips, making Dawn frown. "So, are you and Dawn ready for the Pokemon Contest tomorrow?"
"You bet; tomorrow, that Veilstone Contest Ribbon will be mine." said Stella.
"Only if I give it to you after I win it." replied Dawn, making Stella glare at her.
"Come on; let's go back to Veilstone City and grab a bite to eat." said Clyde.
"Okay, Clyde." said Sam. Lincoln returns Infernape to his pokeball and the group left the cavern.
After lunch, Lincoln uses his Poketch to call his family; seconds later, Lynn Sr answered.
"Hello, son." said Lynn Sr.
"Hey, Dad; just thought I let you and the rest of the family know the Veilstone Pokemon Contest is tomorrow." said Lincoln.
"Okay, Lincoln; I'll make sure Stella's parents know." replied Lynn Sr.
"Thanks, Dad." replied Lincoln. He soon ends the call and joins up with his friends.
The next day, the group was standing in front of the Veilstone City Contest Hall.
"Time for me to win my third ribbon." Stella and Dawn say in unison; they look at each other before looking away in a huff.
"Let's just get you two dudettes ready." said Luna. The group enters the contest hall, and Stella and Dawn head for the dressing rooms while the others head into the spectator section to find seats for themselves.
Backstage, Dawn and Stella were getting into their coordinator outfits while going over their performances in their heads.
"I haven't seen Zoey or Kenny around here." said Dawn.
"Me, neither." said Stella.
"I guess they're probably doing some other contest in another city or something." said Dawn.
"Yeah, I guess that could be true." said Stella.
"But we should just focus on our performances." said Dawn.
"Yeah, I want to win today's contest." said Stella.
"Not if I win it." said Dawn.
"We'll see about that." Stella replied.
Half an hour later, the Veilstone Pokemon Contest was finally underway; Lincoln was using his Poketch to let his and Stella's families back home watch.
"Hello, everybody!" said Marian as she comes out onto the contest hall's stage. "Welcome to the Veilstone City Pokemon Contest. We have trainers from all over Sinnoh who came here to earn the Veilstone Ribbon. Let's meet our panel of judges."
"I'm Raoul Contesta, and I am looking forward to what today's coordinators have in store for us." said Raoul Contesta.
"I'm Mr. Sumiko, and today should be remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"And I'm Nurse Joy, and I hope everyone has fun and enjoys themselves." said Nurse Joy.
"Now that introductions are out of the way, let's bring out our coordinators and get today's contests started!" said Marian.
The contest gets started, and all the coordinators show off their Pokemon's moves; some in amazing displays of skill, and some... well... didn't go as well as one would expect.
Soon, it was Stella's turn, who tosses her pokeball, letting out her Beautifly in a flurry of confetti.
"Okay, Beautifly, use Morning Sun!" said Stella. Her Beautifly releases a ball of light up through the contest hall's skylight; moments later, strong beams of light come shining down onto Beautifly, reflecting off her wings, making them shine. "Now use Stun Spore and a light Whirlwind." Beautifly flaps her wings gently, releases a light gust of wind with yellow pollen mixed in it around herself which sparkles in the sunlight. "Now use Attract!" Her Beautifly winks, releasing hearts from herself which get swept up in the whirlwind and covered in the Stun Spore, making them sparkle.
Once that was done, the crowd roars with applause, with Lincoln cheering the loudest.
"Such an amazing performance." said Raoul Contesta.
"Truly remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"The combination of moves shows the coordinator's creativity and her Pokemon's skill and control with her moves." said Nurse Joy.
"That was awesome!" said Lincoln.
"Rockin!" said Luna.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was cheering Stella on.
"That was, totes, amazing!" said Leni.
"I want a Beautifly!" said Lola.
"We'll see if Lincoln will find and send you one, sweetie." said Lynn Sr.
Back at the Veilstone City Contest Hall, Stella was walking towards the stage's exit, but not before looking back at Lincoln and blowing him a kiss, making him blush.
Several coordinators did their performances before it was finally Dawn's turn.
"Pachirisu, spotlight!" said Dawn, throwing a pokeball and releasing her Lopunny followed by a ring of electricity. "Okay, Pachirisu, use Electro Ball, follow by Swift!" An orb of electricity forms in the end of Pachirisu's tail and she launches it up in the air, followed by a barrage of stars that surrounded Electro Ball. "Now use Quick Attack on the Electro Ball and use Charm!" Pachirisu jumps up towards the Electro Ball with incredible speed and rams into it, causing it to burst into electricity that hits all the stars from Swift, breaking them apart and creating a shower of yellow sparks and sparkles; Pachirisu then makes a cute face in the middle of the shower while putting her paws in front of her mouth and her eyes widen while hearts surrounded her.
After Dawn's performance, everyone in the audience cheered loudly.
"Quite an impressive performance." said Raoul Contesta.
"And quite remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"This combination shows how skilled both coordinator and Pokemon are." said Nurse Joy.
"That was so rad!" said Sam.
"I'll say." said Simon.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was cheering.
"That was literally impressive." said Lori.
"That Charm move made Pachirisu look so cute!" said Lola. "But I still like my Pachirisu more."
Later, at the Veilstone Contest Hall, the finalists were announced, revealing Stella and Dawn both having advanced.
"Yippee!" cheered Dawn.
"I made it!" said Stella.
"They both made it to the semi finals!" said Lincoln.
"They really worked hard to come up with those combinations." said Clyde. Moments later, Dawn was on the battle stage facing a girl with long brown hair, wearing a cream-colored dress and dress shoes over white socks. Both coordinators pull out a pokeball.
"Lopunny, spotlight!" said Dawn, tossing Lopunny's pokeball and releasing her, followd by red ribbons.
"Go, Furret!" said Dawn's opponent, throwing a pokeball, and releasing a long, quadrupedal Pokemon with brown and cream colored fur, followed by yellow stars. Lincoln takes out his pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Furret, the Long Body Pokemon and the evolved form of Furret. The mother puts its offspring to sleep by curling up around them. It corners foes with speed." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"Furret, use Quick Attack!" said Furret's trainer.
"You too, Lopunny!" said Dawn. Lopunny and Furret charge at each other with incredible speed and ram into each other; they both get knocked back, but they land on their feet. Both coordinators lose points.
"Furret, Fury Swipes!" said Furret's trainer; Furret leaps at Lopunny.
"Lopunny, Defense Curl!" said Dawn. Lopunny curls into a ball before Furret repeatedly scratches her, but not doing much damage to her due to Defense Curl increasing her defense, but Dawn still lost points. "Use Headbutt!" Lopunny uncurls and rams her head into Furret, dealing damage, and making Furret flinch, as well as causing Furret's trainer to lose points. "Now use Double Kick!" Lopunny leaps at Furret and kicks Furret twice, dealing super effective damage, and causing Furret's trainer to lose more points.
"Furret, use Slam!" said Furret's trainer. Furret runs at Lopunny and grabs her.
"Use Charm!" said Dawn. Lopunny puts her hands in front of her mouth and widens her eyes, causing Furret's attack strength to decrease before it slammed Lopunny onto the stage floor, but not doing much damage due to Furret's weakened attack and Lopunny's increased defense, causing Dawn to lose points. "Now use Double Kick!" Lopunny jumps up from the floor and kicks Furret twice, dealing super effective damage, and causing Furret's trainer to lose points. The buzzer suddenly goes off.
"Time's up!" said Marian. "It was a close one, but the winner of this round is Dawn."
"Yippee!" cheered Dawn.
"Way to go, Dawn!" said Luna.
"That was great!" said Simon. Back in Royal Woods.
"Dawn's going to the finals!" said Lynn Jr.
"That Lopunny of hers is so beautiful!" said Lola.
"Stella's up next." said Mrs. Zhau.
"I hope she'll win." said Mr. Zhau.
Soon, Stella was facing a young boy with black hair, and wearing a white tuxedo.
"Okay, Girafarig; let's do this." said the boy as he tosses his pokeball, letting out a Pokemon that looked like a giraffe with a second head coming out of its rear, in a puff of smoke.
"What is that?" asked Lincoln as he points his pokedex at the unusual Pokemon.
"Girafarig, the Long Neck Pokemon. While it sleeps, the head on its tail keeps watch. The tail doesn't need to sleep." said Lincoln's pokedex.
Back at the Loud house, everyone there were giving the Girafarig weird looks.
"Why does that Pokemon have a second head on its butt?" asked Lola.
"And I thought Lisa, literally, had some weird-looking stuff." said Lori.
"Wonder what it's like for the head on its butt when it poops?" asked Lana.
Back at the Veilstone Contest Hall, Stella takes her pokeball and tosses it, releasing her Beautifly in a flurry of flower petals.
"Beautifly, use Stun Spore!" said Stella. Her Beautifly flaps her wings, releasing yellow spores that cling to the Girafarig, causing paralysis.
"Girafarig, use Psybeam!" said the boy. His Girafarig fights through the paralysis and fires off a beam of psychic energy from between its ears, hitting Beautifly, and making Stella lose points.
"Beautifly, use Leech Life!" said Stella. Her Beautifly flies at the Girafarig and sticks her proboscis into its neck, draining it of stamina and healing herself while Stella's opponent loses points.
"Girafarig, use Stomp!" said the boy. His Girafarig tries to move, but paralysis stops it, causing the boy to lose points due to having a failed attack.
"Beautifly, use Attract!" said Stella. Her Beautifly winks at Girafarig, making hearts come out and hit it, making it fall in love with Beautifly.
"Girafarig, use Double Hit!" said the boy. The Girafarig looks back at its trainer while shaking its head. "Now's not the time to have a crush!" The boy loses points again due to a failed attack.
"Beautifly, use Air Cutter!" said Stella. Her Beautifly flaps her wings, making blades of wind come out of them, hitting the Girafarig, and knocking it out.
"Since Girafarig is unable to continue, the winner of this semi-final round is Stella." said Marian.
"We did it, Beautifly!" said Stella. Beautifly flies around with delight.
"Woohoo! She's in the finals now!" cheered Lincoln.
"Knew she could do it!" said Sam.
Back in Royal Woods, the Louds and Zhaus that were there were cheering for Stella's victory.
"That was, totes, amazing." said Leni.
"You can do it, Stella!" said Mrs. Zhau.
Back at the Veilstone Contest Hall, everyone was in the lobby, congratulating Dawn and Stella on their victories.
"Now it's you two against each other again." said Clyde.
"Yeah, and I plan on winning this time." said Stella.
"In your dreams!" said Dawn.
"Nah, in my dreams, Lincoln and I are married with a white-haired son." said Stella as she and Lincoln blushed.
"Just focus on the finals." said Sam.
"We will." Stella and Dawn say in unison. Later in the battle area, Dawn and Stella were facing each other.
"All right; now that both finalists are onstage, let the final round of the Veilstone Contest begin." said Marian. Stella and Dawn each pull out a pokeball.
"Pachirisu, spotlight!" said Dawn, throwing her Pachirisu's pokeball and releasing her, followed by a ring of electricity.
"Combusken, onstage!" said Stella, throwing Combusken's pokeball and releasing her, followed by a burst of red flames.
"Pachirisu, Quick Attack!" said Dawn. Pachirisu charges at Combusken with incredible speed and rams her, knocking her back, and causing Stella to lose points.
"Combusken, use Flame Charge!" said Stella. Combusken charges at Pachirisu while fire surrounded her body and she rams Pachirisu, knocking her back, and causing Dawn's points to decrease; Combusken begins surging with energy and her speed increases due to Flame Charge's secondary effect. "Now use Slash!" Combusken charges at Pachirisu and slashes her with her claws, dealing damage, and causing Dawn to lose more points.
"Pachirisu, use Thunder Wave!" said Dawn. Pachirisu releases light blue bolts of electricity from her body and they hit Combusken; she twitches.
"Combusken's paralyzed." said Clyde.
"Combusken, try using Double Kick!" said Stella. Unfortunately, paralysis stops Combusken from attacking and causing Stella to lose points due to an attack failing.
"Pachirisu, Electro Ball!" said Dawn. Pachirisu forms a ball of electricity on the end of her tail and she launches it at Combusken, hitting her, and dealing damage, causing Stella to lose more points.
"Combusken, use Quick Attack!" said Stella. Combusken fights through her paralysis and charges at Pachirisu with incredible speed and rams her, knocking her back, and causing Dawn to lose points.
"Pachirisu, Spark!" said Dawn. Pachirisu charges at Combusken while electricity surrounded her body and she rams Combusken, dealing damage, and causing Stella's points to decrease. Combusken drops to one knee; a fiery aura suddenly surrounds her body.
"Combusken's Blaze ability!" said Stella. "Okay, Combusken, Flame Charge!" Combusken breaks through her paralysis and charges at Pachirisu while fire surrounded her body and she rams Pachirisu, knocking her near Dawn's feet with swirly eyes.
"Pachirisu, no!" said Dawn.
"Since Pachirisu is unable to battle, the winner of the Veilstone Pokemon Contest is Stella Zhau." said Marian.
"All right!" cheered Stella while doing a double fist pump.
"Stella won!" said Lincoln.
"It was a close call for her." said Clyde.
"It was still awesome." said Luna. Back in Royal Woods, everyone was cheering for Stella's victory.
"Stella won!" said Mrs. Zhau, hugging Mr. Zhau.
"I'm so proud of her." replied Mr. Zhau.
"Man, those two were really going at it." said Lynn Jr.
"It's still sad Pachirisu lost." said Lola.
"Get over it." replied Lana, making Lola glare at her.
Later, at the contest hall, Stella and Combusken were standing in front of Raoul Contesta who was holding a small box with a golden, square-shaped object with white and light orange ribbon on it towards Stella; she takes it out of the box.
"I won the Veilstone Ribbon!" said Stella. Everyone in the contest hall applauded. After Stella and Dawn changed into their regular attire, they walked to the lobby where the rest of the group waited for them; Stella walks to Lincoln.
"Congratulations, Ste..." Lincoln began to say to Stella before she cuts him off by kissing him on the lips, making Dawn glare at her.
"A little something extra for winning." Stella says to Lincoln after breaking the kiss; Lincoln smiles in response.
Stella has won her third Pokemon Contest ribbon. How will she do in her next Pokemon contest? Wait and find out.
