Angel: I was gonna skip the intro the twins do practically every season premiere for this episode, but it brings up stuff from the last season so idc, I'm leaving it in. Also, warning, there is a brutal scene with Overhaul and the League of Villains for those who are not teenagers and hopefully not have gotten to this point because it's rated T for teens! Anyway, you guys have been warned.
There is a season 8 coming out next year I believe, and that will be the final season to answer the question. And the way season 7 ended already informed us of this fact. It would be a terrible way to end the show if season 7 was the last one. What will be Izuka's reaction to the real Camie and will she get a new ability? Hmm, both of those are spoilers but both are bound to happen. She does get a new power, but not when you think it'll happen. That's all I can say. To answer another question, Izuka is older than Izuku, by I think 3 minutes? I wrote it somewhere in season 1. And as I was editing, we hit 700 reviews, so I'm uploading 6 chapters instead of 4! Thank you guys so much for continuing to leave reviews! I always look forward to the comments.
This world is a superhuman society, with about 80 percent of the population possessing some uncanny ability called a Quirk.
These Quirks can range from ice, fire, gravity, super speed, and more.
Those who stand up against villains who abuse their powers for evil are called heroes. They are our champions.
Brave, fearless people who use their Quirks to ensure the safety of the world. And with them around, crime decreases significantly for the most part.
My name is Izuku Midoriya, and I've always dreamed of being a hero.
And I'm his twin sister, Izuka Midoriya, but becoming a hero wasn't in my interest because I grew up with a Quirk while Izuku didn't.
So we enrolled in the prestigious UA High School. Even though we've caught up in some harrowing incidents since we started there, I was able to pass the provisional licensing exam as a first-year student.
Even though I've survived countless events as a first-year, both on my own and with my friends, I...wasn't able to pass the exam. Mr. Aizawa is punishing me by making me take the required three-month course of special classes in order to gain my license.
Izuku called someone, clutching at his tie nervously with the phone to his ear. He then let out a deep breath.
The next big thing I'm aiming for...is to participate in a hero work study program, where I'll get the chance to serve under an actual pro at their agency. I feel bad for my sister, but I'll be cheering her on for her to pass this time around!
My next big goal is to pass the classes so that I can prove myself to Mr. Aizawa and gain his trust back. It's still frustrating that I have to do it sometimes...but it won't be so bad since I have friends with me. And I wanna have a better relationship with Katsuki too.
"Huh?" Gran Torino gave a look of confusion. "Work study? Wait, who is this again?"
"Will you be taking anyone for the program, Gran Torino?"
Gran Torino was actually at the police station right now. "Sorry, kid. I'm working on something else right now, so I can't help you out. Oh, wait, I know who you are. You're that useless successor who failed at the Sports Festival!"
Izuku let out a yelp of surprise, shaking. "I know that I've been useless. If I'm gonna be the number-one hero, then...I've gotta work even harder!"
"You know that All Might can introduce you to a bunch of new people, right, kid?" He looked up towards the ceiling. Izuku gasped at the suggestion, his eyes shaking. "First one who comes to mind is his former sidekick. His name's Nighteye."
Overhaul let out a few coughs as Twice led him somewhere. He found the spot less than favorable already, and he wasn't even inside. "The air's practically made of dust here," He complained as they made their way to an abandoned warehouse. "It's gonna make me sick."
"Join the club," Twice remarked back like it was no big deal. "The guys inside have been sick for a while." He then opened the double doors, and they creaked, revealing only a few members from the League. Himiko, Mr. Compress, Magne, and Shigaraki were present. Dabi was still finding recruits, and Spinner was laying low for now.
"...Well, now," Shigaraki narrowed his eyes towards their guest. "You brought us a pretty big catch, huh Twice?"
"You think so?" Overhaul questioned back, staring at the group. "Strange, coming from you. The League of Villains."
"What gives?" Magne was confused, as she didn't know who he was or why he was important. "Is this guy famous or something?"
"My master showed me a picture of him," Shigaraki answered the woman, keeping his eyes on Overhaul. "He's what you'd call yakuza. The young head of the Shie Hassaikai. To what do we owe the pleasure?"
"He's the number two of the whole gang?!" Magne asked in a bit of surprise after hearing this. "Ooh, I've never met anyone like him before! He smells so dangerous. How exciting."
The others weren't as impressed to see him. "What's the deal?" Himiko glanced up at Mr. Compress. "We're all criminals here, so how is this guy different?"
"Ah! Allow me to tell you a story," He spoke up, looking down at his comrade. "In the past, there were many different scary troupes that ran the underworld. After heroes started thriving though, they slowly but surely began to disband. When All Might took the stage, their era was over. The yakuza survivors who weren't caught became rent-a-thugs for villain groups. In other words, they were the lowest form of criminal, barely scraping by to make a living," He then looked back up at Overhaul, analyzing him in a way. "Frankly, they're obsolete. An endangered species."
"Endangered species, huh?" Overhaul looked slightly amused to hear this. "I guess that's true."
"Yeah, what's a yakuza thug from the slums doing here?" Magne couldn't help but wonder. "Lemme guess, you're excited about All Might's retirement too?"
"It's good that he's gone, sure. But I'm more interested in All for One's absence." This triggered something in Shigaraki, unknowingly to Overhaul. "The dark emperor who ruled over the shadows. The old-timers always feared him. Even after rumors of his death. Honestly though, most people my age thought he was an urban legend. You can imagine the shock when he showed up in the flesh."
"United...States of...Smash Comet Punch!" All Might and Izuka shouted as they both knocked All for One into the ground together, creating another gust of wind and fire. Toshinori then held up his arm and Izuka's in victory.
"But in the end, the big bad was thrown into Tartarus and the Symbol of Peace retired. Meanwhile, there's all that controversy surrounding his decision to let that girl fight his battle with him. Which means those of us in the shadows and those in the light are both leaderless," He then looked at Shigaraki in the eye. "So, who will step up to take their places?"
"You know who my master is," Shigaraki got out of his spot and approached Overhaul, stopping not too far away from him. "But you've still got the nerve to ask that? Sounds like a challenge. I'm the next leader. Even now, I'm gathering my troops. Our numbers continue to increase. With our combined power, I'll turn hero society to dust." Twice, Himiko, Magne, and Mr. Compress looked on proudly towards the two.
"You have an actual plan?" Overhaul questioned in disbelief, as he couldn't take them seriously.
"Watch your tongue and your tone," Shigaraki warned the Shie Hassaikai leader. "I thought you came here to join up with us."
Twice looked between Shigaraki and Overhaul, finding himself a bit at fault for bringing the latter here. "A goal without a plan is just a wish," Overhaul stated while stepping up further towards Shigaraki. "If that's what you're offering, why should I join you? What happens after you increase your forces? Do you have any idea how you'd even organize your League? You had the Hero Killer Stain at your side. Muscular. Moonfish. All first-class game pieces. And you lost 'em. Maybe you just didn't know how to play the game. You can't even manage a few crazy people, but you wanna build an army? What happens when that power spirals out of control? You need direction to achieve your goals," He made his hand into a fist.
They were listening, but they didn't like the words he was saying to them. Comparing himself to Shigaraki, Overhaul preferred when things were in control, when he could move the pieces himself without having to risk anything. To him, having control got him to where he was, so he found their group's objectives sloppy at best.
"And I have a plan. I didn't come here today because I wanted to join you."
"You brought this idiot here without knowing his intentions, Twice," Shigaraki pointed out angrily that he'd have to work under Overhaul in order to get him on their side. And he wasn't sure if that was worth it anymore. Twice flinched in fear towards Shigaraki, not knowing what to say. He just thought Overhaul was cool, he didn't think something like this would happen.
"In order to execute my design, I need money." Twice looked at him wide-eyed. "Unfortunately, there aren't many people looking to invest in some obsolete, small-time yakuza. Now, your group on the other hand, has widespread name recognition. Put yourself under me. Make me your new leader, and I'll show you exactly how to use the right tools."
It was dead silence in the room after hearing him out, and Shigaraki disliked him as much, if not more than Stain right about now. The last thing he'd want is to follow somebody else when All for One was molding him to be the new Symbol of Evil. That path didn't include being someone's minion. "Leave," He hissed as Magne swung to reveal her weapon.
"Sorry about ya, small fry. But we didn't band together to serve under somebody's boot," She then swung the weapon over her shoulder. Overhaul started to glow blue as he raced forward towards his opponent. "The other day, I met with an old friend. She's a gentle soul. But she supports me, even knowing about my past." That friend was the one in blond pigtails while Dabi and Twice were out recruiting. "You know what she said? Those who're bound by the chains of society laugh at those who aren't!"
"You, Kennie," She looked up with a small smile. "You're not bound by those chains. But I don't have the courage to break away from them like you do."
She continued advancing towards Overhaul, not even fazed by his power right now or by her approaching. "I'm here because I don't want to be bound by anything!" She shouted as Overhaul removed his left handed glove. "We're free to decide for ourselves exactly where we belong!" She then thrusted the weapon forward, only for Overhaul to dodge it. His hand that wasn't gloved simply scratched at her elbow, and her eyes shook. Her veins started to appear on her face, growing bigger. The same thing happened to her arms before her upper body EXPLODED and disappeared. Her blood started to fly everywhere, Overhaul bracing himself. As her legs fell, the others looked up ahead in shock.
"No..." Himiko murmured in horror. "Big Sis Mag!" Her legs then landed in her own blood, which poured down above them.
"Just remember you made the first move," Overhaul stated as he recollected himself, not even looking up. He then groaned from the blood on him. "Ugh, I'm all filthy now. That's why I hate the aftermath," He attempted to clean himself off, having some blood on his forehead, showing that he had no regrets for what he just did.
Mr. Compress jumped into the air, holding out his hand. "Compress, wait!" Shigaraki warned the man.
"No! I have to seal this guy away!" He held out his other arm, and suddenly, something small and red hit him. Overhaul held out his arm and when Mr. Compress touched him...nothing happened. "Uh! Why isn't my Quirk working?"
"Don't touch me!" Overhaul warned angrily, as he then blew off Compress' arm! Mr. Compress screamed in pain, his blood flowing in front of him. Shigaraki leaped forward to attack, and something flew from Compress. It was the small red object he was hit with, Overhaul gasping in alarm. "Shield!"
His bodyguard came in as Shigaraki appeared in front of the man. He touched the bodyguard as Overhaul jumped away from him. He watched as his guard was turned into stone. The two leaders looked at each other wide-eyed as the guard withered away into dust. Shigaraki slid backwards, shaking.
"...Now I get it," He looked up at Overhaul. Suddenly an explosion occurred from behind, revealing more backup for Overhaul. The group was the men that Twice saw Overhaul with before bringing him over. "You should have just started with this! Saved us all some time."
"That was a close one, Overhaul," Kurono spoke up as they had seen what happened. He then jumped and landed next to his boss.
"You're late," Overhaul snarled towards them.
"And I missed a shot. But at least we know they work," He held up a gun that had the red bullets inside.
"Where'd they come from?!" Twice yelped while holding onto Compress. "We weren't followed, I swear."
"One of them probably has a tracking Quirk," Shigaraki guessed as he got onto his feet.
"Hard to be objective in this situation," Overhaul rubbed at his arm that was still missing his glove. "Besides, killing each other isn't productive." He looked towards what remained of Magne: her blood, her bloody weapon, and her broken glasses. His guard wasn't much better, covered in blood and made out of dust. "A death on both sides. Let's take a breather. We'll cool our heads and try again later," He then turned around to leave through the entrance his group had made. "I owe your side an arm."
"BASTARD!" Twice shouted as they watched him leave. "I'll eviscerate you!"
"Tomura," Himiko stepped up with a knife, ready to get her revenge. "Lemme cut him. Real quick."
"No," Shigaraki answered, glaring towards Overhaul.
"It's my responsibility!" Twice shouted up at him. He felt like he had to make up for it, blaming himself for Magne's death and Compress' arm. After all, if he hadn't brought Overhaul here to begin with, this wouldn't have happened. He should've gotten their approval at the start or evaluated Overhaul further.
"No," Shigaraki repeated himself to them.
"Smart decision, Face Palm Guy," One of them pointed, wearing a white bird mask and a black suit.
"I don't wanna rush you," Overhaul came to a stop. "But the sooner we talk, the better. Think things over carefully," He tossed something small and it flew over to Shigaraki's feet. It was a business card for the Shie Hassaikai. "Consider how your organization should be run. Then, when you've calmed down, call me," And with that, they all left.
"They gotta pay for this!" Twice protested at his boss as the others watched them leave. "Why can't I go after him?!"
"Think, Jin," Himiko spoke up, not liking it either, but they had other priorities at hand. "We need to get Atsuhiro to a doc."
"Uh...right," Twice looked down at Mr. Compress in concern.
"My power...wouldn't work," He groaned in pain. "Damn, that hurts."
Himiko's bangs covered her eyes as she looked towards Magne's bloody weapon. She then looked at her reflection through her knife. "Maybe we do have time to make them bleed."
"No," Shigaraki told her and she glanced up with a tiny frown.
"Come on, Tomura."
"Another time," He walked off past her, knowing what his master would say if he were to hear about this.
"You failed again, didn't you? But do not be discouraged. Simply begin again. Start over as many times as you need to. That's why I'm here. Everything is for you, Tomura."
As All for One sat in prison, those words still rang true for him as he had a big grin on his face.
"You need direction to achieve your goals. And I have a plan. I didn't come here today because I wanted to join you."
As he continued walking, he felt bitterness. "Shie Hassaikai...you'll pay for what you've done today," He declared while seething, as he didn't feel it was the right time for revenge. Sure, they could've killed him today, but after seeing his power for themselves, they'd be instantly killed like Magne was. And he wanted to find out more about how Overhaul erased Compress' power as well. So he'd bide his time for now until he could get his own revenge for what happened today.
"The hero work studies are a more serious version of your internships," Mr. Aizawa announced to the class the next morning. "They entail helping pro agencies on the streets and with investigations. Your teachers and the principal discussed them at the faculty meeting. And we all agree. It's too soon. They should really be canceled."
Everyone was silent for a few seconds as they let the news sink in. "WHAT?!" Almost everyone exclaimed in protest.
"Aw, but we already met about them!" Eijiro complained a little to the teacher.
"I guess, when you think about why we had to move into the dorms, it does make sense," Denki frowned while playing with Mashirao's tail.
Katsuki then slammed down his hands with a crazed look on his face. "Ha ha!"
Toru gave an awkward look from her spot in front of Katsuki. "Just because you wouldn't get to do one..."
"Katsuki, sit down!" Izuka whispered to him from her spot, but he didn't listen.
"But...some people think we won't be able to raise strong heroes with that sort of protective outlook," Mr. Aizawa continued on, not even getting mad at his students for the sudden outburst. "And with that in mind, the compromise is to be selective about participating agencies. So choose one with a proven track record. Otherwise, you won't be taking part."
Katsuki then froze from his chair, Izuka looking at him awkwardly for his boasting reaction earlier. Not like three of us can take part anyway...
"A wise requirement," Tenya murmured in agreement while Katsuki was seething.
"Maybe I should contact Selkie," Tsuyu stated as Katsuki growled, Izuka looking at him in bewilderment.
"Kat-"
"DAMN IT!" He shouted in frustration, causing her to recoil back a bit. He was pissed off because it meant he still couldn't participate, and was happy for a minute that they were going to be canceled for everyone else.
Izuku rubbed his chin in thought. An agency with a good track record of work studies... Clearly, Gran Torino wasn't the proper choice, so that only left him with what Gran Torino suggested to the boy a few days ago.
"You know that All Might can introduce you to a bunch of new people, right?" Gran Torino glanced away in thought. "First one who comes to mind is his former sidekick."
Toshinori looked up at Izuku wide-eyed once he heard the suggestion. He was in the teachers' workspace with the twins. "Wait, you want me to introduce you to Sir Nighteye for the work study program?"
"Yes!" Izuku answered the man confidently. "Since he's one of the few heroes that've worked directly under you, it's a perfect fit!" He clenched his fists in determination.
"And also because he has almost no one else to turn to," Izuka let out a puff of air, looking embarrassed. "It's not like he has many options when you think about it..."
Toshinori then lifted up a finger, and he shushed them to their confusion. The two looked up as several teachers were staring at them.
"Someone's energetic..." Midnight commented while staring at them.
"I wanna karaoke..." Ectoplasm murmured and Izuka gave them a sheepish smile.
"This is why we ask these questions in private," She muttered to her brother.
"So, Sir Nighteye," Toshinori looked back at the twins. "Who could have put that idea into your head? No, of course. You wanted to be proactive, so you called Gran Torino, didn't you?" Recovery Girl, Principal Nezu, and Gran Torino were the only ones who knew of his partnership with Sir Nighteye. And clearly, Izuku didn't ask either of them since Gran Torino was the one he worked with during the internships.
"Yes, sir!" Izuku bowed his head to the man.
"Well, I refuse," Toshinori denied immediately right after Izuku said this. Izuka yelped while opening her mouth in disbelief, Izuku's eyes widening. "I'm not saying that to punish you, though. I have three reasons. First up," He then turned to them fully, holding up a finger. "I opposed work studies in a faculty meeting yesterday. I think it's unnecessary for first years to start them so early."
"I agree," Thirteen spoke up nearby as the teachers were listening in.
"I say, we just support any hungry students who want to go the extra mile," Midnight disagreed with the both of them.
"Reason 2," Toshinori held up two fingers. "You need to work on your Shoot Style, and she needs to work on improving her abilities. And she has those special classes to worry about anyway. Let's master those before you start doing extra hero work, and for Mido, I'm saying this now so that she won't have to worry about it in the future."
"They're putting in a lot of training already," Ectoplasm interjected from behind, and he would know. He trained the Class 1-A students and Class 1-B students for their Ultimate Moves.
"But there's still plenty of room for improvement before they can use them reliably," Cementoss pointed out to him.
"And third, Sir Nighteye...I just don't wanna have to talk to the guy," Toshinori and Sir Nighteye...didn't get along very well, to say the least.
"Personal feelings gettin' in the way?" Present Mic teased a little from behind. "E-mo. E-mo-Might. E-mo-Might!"
"Gimme a break," Toshinori turned around to him in annoyance. Present Mic yelped and then left them alone.
"All Might," Izuku lifted up his head. "Kacchan told me I'm not allowed to lose since someone like you laid the groundwork for me. And think about it. My Quirk is so similar to yours. If I'm working for Nighteye...he'll know exactly how to help me improve it," He then bowed his head again, Izuka staring at her brother. "I need to get so much stronger than I am now. I've got more work to do than anyone!"
Toshinori just stared at him in silence. Is he that impatient to succeed me? Probably not, but still. He then looked towards Izuka. "Mido, what do you think?"
"Uh?" She blinked and then glanced down at Izuku. "...While I wish I was working on a work study but I can't...he makes a good point, Mr. All Might. Izuku's wanted to be a hero, to be like you, all his life. He really wants to work hard and prove himself to be the next Symbol of Peace like you want. So with this Mr. Nighteye, I think he's got a good foundation forming. And if he can't do it with Gran Torino...where do you expect him to go?"
Izuku opened his eyes after hearing her out and Toshinori sighed slowly. "Look, I appreciate your passion. But I can't introduce you. Emphasis on I." Izuku looked up in confusion as Toshinori gave a small smile. He knew someone who could get him in touch with Sir Nighteye.
"Third-year student Mirio Togata," The PA voice announced to the hall. "All Might would like to speak with you." He, Nejire, and Tamaki all stopped in confusion. "Please head to the counseling office at once. I repeat."
"Ha," Mirio gave a small smile. "Crazy. He wants to talk to me? Wonder what it's about."
"Hey, Togata, hey," Nejire spoke up curiously, walking up to him. "What did you do? Are you in trouble or something? What gives?"
"What business could All Might have with you?" Tamaki wondered while glancing over his shoulder.
"No clue. But...I've to-gata go see!" He grinned at his joke. "Get it?" He winked and his two friends stared, neither of them laughing. "Man! That was supremely unfunny. Wasn't it?"
"Aw, yeah! You. Are. Here!" He joked again once he was sitting between the twins, who were across Toshinori. All four of them had cups of tea in front of them. "Sorry! Couldn't help myself," He rubbed the back of his neck. "I just got super excited you wanted to talk to me."
Izuka gave a small amused smile while picking up her tea to have a sip. "Um," Izuku turned to the man in confusion. "I don't really understand what's going on right now."
"Right? I'm completely clueless, too!" Mirio looked between the two of them. "Hey, is it true that your sister is younger?"
"Ahhh!" Izuka yelped, her hair standing on end. "Where'd you get that from, did Hado-Chan say this to you?! Ohhh, even most of the Big Three think that now...?" She whined, leaning against the couch. Mirio blinked from her reaction and then laughed, rubbing his neck again.
"You're the older one, huh? My bad! Amajiki's the one who guessed it, huh? You know, I can tell he already likes you a lot, Mido! I can call you that, right?" Mirio smiled down at her and she glanced up in confusion before giving a small smile. She could relate to Tamaki a lot since he was like her, but she didn't know that she already made a good impression on him.
"Yeah, you can call me Mido, I don't mind at all. I didn't think he said that about me," She hummed with a small smile, and Izuku glanced at her, impressed at how well her speech had improved ever since the first semester. She still used formalities on her class and with others, but her stuttering had completely vanished at this point.
Her anxious side is practically almost gone that it's hard to tell sometimes...good on you, sis.
"I think it's great you made a good impression on him, I can see you two becoming good friends!" He smiled, pumping his fists in encouragement. Although it would take a while for Tamaki to get used to her...
Toshinori glanced between the three of them. "You two have met Young Togata, right?" He questioned the twins. "He's currently doing his work study at Nighteye's agency."
Izuku gave a small gasp of realization from why Mirio was here now. "Whoa, seriously?!" Izuku looked at him in astonishment and awe. Izuka opened her mouth in shock while looking towards him. "That's so cool!"
"Yup!" He grinned while pumping a fist. "I've been working alongside him for a full year now!"
"That's incredible!" Izuka gasped a little at how long and hard he had worked. And since the two had seen his Quirk up close, he was probably a top employee there.
"Then you're like guaranteed to be his sidekick when you graduate!" Izuku gushed towards the blond with a big smile.
"Well, as long as Sir doesn't change his mind, yeah," Mirio gave them a small smile.
"That's awesome!" Izuku exclaimed like a fanboy, earning a giggle from his sister.
"And impressive," She agreed, though kept her awe to a minimum since she was the odd student out not doing a work study. But it also made her more determined to ace the special classes, which were starting soon.
"Alright, I'm gonna get straight to the point here," Toshinori spoke up to get their attention. "Tell me, Young Togata, do you think that this first-year boy has what it takes to work beside you at the agency?"
Izuku flinched and Izuka stared at him, wondering if this had to do with Sir Nighteye in general or because he disagreed with the idea of a work study for the first-years. And she was guessing probably both... This is a serious matter for my brother. I wonder how Togata-San will respond, since he hasn't known Izuku very long... She glanced up at Mirio.
"Oh, now I hear ya," He slammed his fist against his palm. "That's what you called me in here to talk about, huh? And Eraser Head didn't put you up to it either? Because he did tell me how much Mido has to make up for it in order to do one!"
She flinched, her hair standing on end once she heard that, looking at him with wide eyes. "Well, no, he didn't..." Toshinori awkwardly answered as he already knew why Izuka was doing the special classes. And he also knew Mr. Aizawa was hard on her, but even that was a bit much...The girl sighed in relief to hear that Mr. Aizawa had nothing to do with this.
"Oops! Sorry about that!" Mirio then wrapped his arms around the twins. "You want me to take Midoriya to him for an introduction!"
"Yeah," Toshinori replied while Izuka was still getting over what she heard, her eyes shaking in despair.
"But wait a minute, why do you need to go through me?" Mirio questioned, since he didn't know about Sir Nighteye's past with Toshinori. Sir Nighteye never mentioned it to him in his one year working under him. "I always see him watching old video clips of you in his spare time. I'm sure he'd be real happy if you called him up yourself."
Izuka blinked in intrigue to hear this, staring at Toshinori. There's obviously a lot of history between the two since they worked together, but...what exactly did happen between them that they're not on speaking terms anymore at all? That Mr. All Might won't even go see him? She could tell just by looking at Toshinori that he hadn't sought out Sir Nighteye in what seemed to be years.
"I can't exactly face him right now," Toshinori looked away in a bit of guilt. "Because he was dead right. I ended up precisely where he warned me I'd be." The twins gasped at his particular wording, as Sir Nighteye definitely saw his fight with All for One. This could've potentially been about All Might being no more in their hero society...
Does Mr. Nighteye know the whole truth about One for All like Gran Torino or Recovery Girl? Is that why they won't face each other? Izuka thought as it was very possible. But also, it wasn't her business, and it wasn't like she could ask about it anyway.
"So..." Toshinori looked up at the three seriously. "Do you think Young Midoriya has what it takes?"
"Oh man," Mirio moved his arms away from the twins. "That's a toughie," He then looked at his hand, and they all stared at him for a few seconds. "...Why don't you tell me what kinda hero you wanna be?"
Izuku blinked in confusion, straightening up. "What kind?"
"There's always a smile on his face, no matter how bad things get," Little Izuku pointed towards the debut video of All Might, tears in his eyes. "Even when everything looks impossible...do you think...I can be a hero too?"
He glanced at Izuka, who nodded in encouragement. She knew what kind of hero he wanted to be for years, so having to tell one of the Big Three wasn't too hard. Because Izuku never strayed from that goal once in his life. Not even when Toshinori told him when they met that he wouldn't be a hero at first.
"I want to save people with a smile, and..." He then paused, causing the girl to blink in alarm. Mirio smiled a little as Toshinori stared at him.
"Twins! My babies!" Inko ran up to them in worry, clutching her handkerchief. She looked like she had been crying. "I can't do this anymore."
"Shoji-San! Izuku!" Izuka ran up to the two, examining their injuries. "What happened to you two, are you alright?"
"We could be worse, but don't worry about us," Izuku groaned out a little and she frowned. "We'll explain later."
"KACCHAAAAAAAAAAAAN! IZUKAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Izuku leaped to try and catch up to them. Izuka let out a weak gasp, knowing he'd try and save them, but...he couldn't. Not this time, and she didn't want him to fall into the portal either. Not with his injuries.
"Little brother...I know this will be hard for you to do, but...please don't come after us..." Izuka squeezed her eyes shut, shedding a small tear.
His lips went into a thin line, as he didn't want to cause that kind of emotional pain in his family again. Nor did he want to see Izuka kidnapped all over again because he couldn't make it in time. Even if she was back home safe and sound...she still didn't get out unscathed either. Neither did his own childhood friend.
"I want to be strong so I won't worry people. And so that no one hurts Izuka," She blinked incredibly at him for saying this. "I want to always win and save everybody." Katsuki and Kota came to mind for him, as they both inspired him to keep fighting. He then turned towards Mirio, the sun shining on the boy from outside. "I want to become the greatest. Got it?"
All of them stared at him for his answer. Sometimes it's easier to organize your thoughts out loud. I've been through some intense times. The more I experience, the more I see how hard it is to be the kind of hero I want to be. That's why I have to become stronger. That, and because I want to protect Izuka's life. She was the only one I could talk to back when I didn't have a Quirk. So I have to make sure that she can become the hero she wants to be too.
Izuka's eyes softened towards her brother, knowing that he still felt some guilt in not being able to save her during camp. And they could tell he was dead serious in his intentions as well...
Mirio looked away in thought, as Izuku's answer was enough for him. "Wow, that was a lot." He then chuckled with a thumbs up. "There's no reason for me to say no, though. So yeah!"
Izuku let out a light gasp and Izuka smiled happily for her brother. "That's so great for you, Izuku."
"You mean it?! Oh wow, thank you so, so much!"
"Yes, thank you from me too, he's really excited," Izuka gestured to herself.
"Sure! I always figured Sir would take a liking to you anyway," Mirio smiled in encouragement.
"I sure hope he does!" Izuku exclaimed with a small laugh of happiness.
"Don't get too psyched. I dunno if Sir will agree to take you on," Mirio pointed out as Toshinori watched the three.
"Of course, but still, I'm very grateful," Izuku told him in excitement.
"And if you were allowed, Mido, he'd like you too!" Mirio turned towards her and she blinked in confusion. "You guys are really close, so he'd be real glad to see how much you two get along!" He wrapped his arms around the two, earning bashful looks from the twins.
"Well, he's my brother, of course I'm gonna support him..." She murmured in a bit of embarrassment, looking away.
"And I'll be cheering you on for your special classes! Uraraka and Ida will too!" Izuku pumped his fists.
As Toshinori looked at the trio, a previous conversation came to mind.
"I have no doubt that someone worthy of your power walks the halls of our fine school," Principal Nezu stated as Toshinori told him his intentions of finding a successor.
"Mirio Togata, huh?" He muttered while looking at the file of the student in mind. "And who is that?"
"Well, his grades aren't anything special, but he certainly has a lively presence. There's near-constant laughter in the halls whenever he's around. And even if he fails a test, his smile never disappears." Even right now, Toshinori could see his smile never faltering as he tried to entertain the twins. He grinned widely, rubbing the back of his neck as it wasn't successful. "Doesn't it sound like he aligns with your philosophies?"
This kid... Toshinori thought while staring at the three students talking. If I hadn't met Young Midoriya or Young Mido when I did... He then looked towards the ground in guilt, since he never even told the twins about this either...
Before long, it was the weekend.
At least Izuku gets to enjoy his, while I have other priorities.
Denki and Minoru were in the common room, brushing their teeth while talking to Eijiro and Fumikage. "A whole day off, huh?" He asked casually from his mouth full of toothpaste.
"Yeah, after all the exams and special training, we can finally take it easy for once," Minoru looked relieved since they had been thrust into a lot of work lately.
"Morning!" Izuku cried out while zipping past them in a fast speed.
"Okay..." Minoru stared after the green-haired boy. "What's up with him?"
"Oh hey, lookie there," Denki looked out the window to see Katsuki, Izuka, and Shoto already leaving. "They've got provisional license training on weekends."
Minoru pulled out his phone, eyeing Izuka specifically. "Drop something, drop something, drop something..." He pleaded so that he could get a panty shot...
"You should be thankful to the teachers," Shoto spoke up, holding his jacket over his shoulder. "You got caught fighting with Midoriya. But they're still going to let you retake the exam. Plus Mido got into trouble too because of who you fought with."
"Not entirely true..." Izuka sighed a little, her eyes closed as she walked between them.
"I wish that Mr. Aizawa wasn't so hard on you, but I'm sure you'll do great," Shoto looked down at her. "You've proven yourself to be a worthy student in our class, so I know you'll ace this time around."
"Thank you, Todoroki," She smiled for his support.
"Oh, will you shut it?" Katsuki retorted back in annoyance, both for having to wake up early on a weekend and hearing them talk like this.
"We've got to catch up to our classmates soon," Shoto spoke up, ignoring what Katsuki said as he usually did.
"I told you to shut your damn face!" Katsuki yelled and Izuka picked at her ear.
"Hey, it's way too early for this, okay? And besides, it's not like he's wrong," She sighed, pinching her nose and looking up ahead. "The three of us are at a disadvantage compared to our classmates. We can't forget that."
"If anyone's gonna catch up first, it should be you. I still feel terrible for injuring you during the exam," Shoto stated and she looked up, waving a rapid hand with a smile.
"Really, it's okay. That's not even why I have to retake the test anyway, so don't blame yourself for that. I know that deep down, you wouldn't do that, Todoroki. You're a good friend."
He gave a small smile back to her. "Thank you, Mido. That means a lot."
Katsuki flinched from how they were acting and immediately didn't like it. "Walk between me, idiots!" He moved Izuka to his right side, confusing the both of them as he was seething. She then gave a heavy sigh from his yelling, glancing over her shoulder and seeing the glint of a phone.
"If you really need to get mad, why don't you direct it towards Mineta-San when we get back? Because if I have to experience this every time I leave, then go nuts," She stated and Katsuki blinked at her in confusion. He then noticed that she was in view of the window, turning around with an angry snarl towards Minoru. He yelped and ducked his head, hiding the phone in the process. She'd rather not have a pervert paparazzi anytime soon...
She then pulled out her phone. "Texting Deku, huh?" Katsuki muttered knowingly as he didn't even have to look.
"Yeah. He's going to meet someone for his work study with Togata-San, so I hope it works out for him," She gave a small smile as she sent her text.
Good luck impressing Mr. Nighteye! And even if he says no, I'll make you some katsudon! Tell Togata-San I said hi.
"It must be frustrating seeing him do a work study, since you didn't get your license..." Shoto spoke up sympathetically for the girl.
"It was, but my feelings about it I can't let take over. At the end of the day, he's still my brother and I'm still gonna support him," She replied as her eyes softened a little. She could be mad, upset, but her friends would keep her going. That was all she needed.
"He better not blow it," Katsuki grunted, hands in his pockets. "That bastard has it easy, so if he messes up, I'll kill him."
"Katsuki, don't," Izuka gave him a warning look as she got another text back.
You'd make me katsudon whether or not I do make it in, sis! And I will! Good luck in your special classes, you've got this!
She gave a small smile at the text, as she would do that for him when he got back regardless.
"We're having a study session with Yaoyorozu later," Denki spoke up, glancing down at Minoru. He was peeved he didn't think of it, but also fearing his life if he had tried it too. "You guys wanna come along?"
"Sorry man. We're busy today," Eijiro answered as he and Fumikage would be out.
"I'll be studying some websites," Minoru stated bluntly, and it wasn't hard to guess what kind.
"To each their own, I guess," Denki looked away knowingly. "Have fun."
Izuku and Mirio looked up at Sir Nighteye's agency.
An hour by train from UA.
Mirio smiled while pointing up to the building, both of them wearing their backpacks. "Well, this is it. Sir Nighteye's agency."
Izuku was shaking nervously from being here, as this could make or break him in terms of work studies. And if he was rejected, he would lose his shot. He really wanted to be at an agency that All Might had connections with. He would be fine doing a work study elsewhere if not, but he felt that this was the place that would make him stronger.
"Easy, man," Mirio tried to cheer him up. "Take a breath. Try to loosen up! But not too loose, ya know. Cause, uh, Sir's actually a pretty strict guy."
"I'm fully aware!" Izuku argued back, as he would take this seriously regardless. "He's a hero famous for being demanding, on others as well as himself. His gaze is so harsh that it makes me shiver every time I see him on TV. He looks so severe!"
"That's absolutely true," Mirio agreed as he looked up towards the building again. "But there's a totally different side of him that the press never gets to see." Izuku looked at him in utter confusion, wondering what he meant. "If you wanna be acknowledged by him, here's a tip. You need to do one important thing at this meeting," He then turned to Izuku. "You gotta make him laugh. Then he'll totally approve of you."
Izuku was utterly baffled by this request. Considering what he knew of Sir Nighteye...making him laugh was a very odd task that he wasn't expecting to hear, like at all. "Uh, wait. Hold on. What does that mean?"
"Exactly what it sounds like," Mirio stated as he opened the door for Izuku. "He seems stern, but he really values humor for some reason. It's like irony or something I think. The most I can do is introduce you to him. Sir's the one who'll decide if he can use you," He explained as they walked up the spiral staircase. "I wish I could help more, but that's all I got. From here on, you'll have to figure out how to make Sir acknowledge you yourself."
"I've been meaning to ask," Izuku stared at the back of his head. "Why is it you seem to know so much about me and my sister even though we basically just met?" There was no way Mirio knew of him before he came to UA, and if he had seen the Sports Festival of the first-year section, he never brought it up. Izuka was more understandable since she had been on TV more often than a regular UA student, but even then, he couldn't tell Izuka's personality just by looking at what she had done.
"What are ya talkin' about? I don't know you two at all!" Mirio answered as he led them down a hallway. "But I do know that you've got crazy-ambitious goals and you're fighting to turn it into a reality. That, and you two care about each other a lot. And wanting to help out someone who's in trouble is basically Hero-ing 101, am I right?" He grinned widely at the green-haired boy.
Izuku looked at him in amazement for figuring them out so quickly, and then smiled. Mirio then came to a stop, pointing up ahead. "Here we are! He's just beyond this door." Izuku then narrowed his eyes in determination. "If you wanna get stronger, then walk on through!"
"Got it!"
"Let's see..." Sir Nighteye's assistant murmured while looking at a clipboard. "The meeting site was already deserted by the time we got there, but we did find evidence that blood had been wiped off the floor. Due to the massive amount of damage to the building itself, it's safe to presume that some sort of fight went down there," She was looking at a picture of the abandoned warehouse that Overhaul and the League had their meeting. The police had been called to investigate, which they caught wind of. Sir Nighteye had All Might's debut video on his computer. "It's most likely the League of Villains, but we're not positive."
"That's enough," He stopped her from explaining further, causing her to gasp. "You know there's no future for a society without both humor and energy," He got onto his feet, walking away from his desk.
"Huh? Um, Sir. The report is really long, so..." She backed away as he got closer. "I was just trying not to mess up! Wait," She gave a look of fear as he kept walking towards her. "No. Oh, please don't!"
The door then slammed open, revealing Mirio and Izuku. "Heyo, I brought that first-year dude I mentioned yesterday," The former announced and Izuku kept a serious gaze on his face.
Sir Nighteye's Agency. Let's see what kind of place this is.
Sir Nighteye's assistant was laughing out loud, to Izuku's bewilderment. She was strapped to a tickle machine and Sir Nighteye was just watching. "What kind of place is this?!" He yelped as he watched in shock as he was not anticipating this to be the first sight he saw...
"See, this is how loud and energetic you can be," Sir Nighteye pointed out while his assistant couldn't stop laughing.
"Ah, stop! Please!" She pleaded through her tears of laughter.
"Mirio, what's going on?" Izuku blinked rapidly at the display.
"That's his sidekick, Bubble Girl," Mirio explained without any surprise since he had seen this before. He even went through it a couple of times himself. "I guess she didn't make him laugh. Oh, sucks."
Sir Nighteye then turned to them and Izuku flinched nervously from the serious stare he was getting. His lips quivered in a bit of fear. So this is Sir Nighteye! All Might's former sidekick. Oh crap, his stare's just as intense in person!
"If you wanna be acknowledged by him, here's a tip."
He then looked up, clenching his fists. Bubble Girl was still being tortured, but other than that, it was completely quiet. I have to become stronger. Others helped me to get where I am today. But from this moment on, I need to open the doors myself. He held his head, adjusting his hair. He wants to laugh? I can do that.
He then adjusted his face...to look like All Might's. In order to become the number-one hero! "I'm Izuku Midoriya," He put on an All Might impression as well. Mirio was flabbergasted at this, unable to say anything. Bubble Girl was laughing, but because of the tickle machine, not because of Izuku. I admired All Might so much that I practiced my impression of him in the mirror for years! Even Izuka laughed sometimes! He could remember that when they would get ready for school at home, he'd put on the same face. And sometimes she did indeed laugh or giggle. I'm not especially good at making people laugh. So if this doesn't work, I'm done for!
Sir Nighteye did not look impressed or wanting to laugh, he just kept his intense stare towards the boy. "What is this, boy?" He asked, not amused in the slightest. "Are you ridiculing All Might?"
Izuku twitched nervously at his unsuccessful attempt.
No! Mirio gasped a little. He's not funny!
