Angel: What score did Izuka get when she passed the provisional license exam? I would say around 90 or lower, but it's not really that crucial for me to put it anywhere. So no, it's not something I'll bring up later.
*seething furiously* I am seriously going to lose my mind at this point over this…okay, here goes. Let's see, uh, the USJ Incident where she was with Katsuki and Eijiro for the most part. All the times she paints at school after classes. The internships where she was with Katsuki until the Hosu Incident. The Kamino Incident where she got kidnapped and fought with All Might. She wasn't even with Izuku during his fight with Muscular, and even when they met up later, it wasn't for a large amount of time. The training OVA where she was with Shoto and Fumikage. On that note, the zombie OVA where she was on KATSUKI's team, and got turned into a zombie. The first movie chapter where she fought with Katsuki, Shoto, and Eijiro. Uh, the School Festival where she was practicing with three teams as a mascot. Her special classes for having to retake the provisional license exam, especially the time after she passed. The provisional license exam itself where she was with Katsuki for both rounds. The joint training where she was on two teams, neither of which was Izuku's—
For those still with me, I just listed most of Izuka's time without her brother. Is that not enough, people who tell me in the comments that Izuku has to have more things without involving her? I'm pretty sure I missed 75% of Katsuki's moments with her too. And even if you really wanna go there about this, they're twins in the same class so it shouldn't even matter nor an argument. I'm not invalidating opinions but also why are you so against Izuka doing things with him when they are blood-related, and she's been without him many times already as I just stated? I can keep the list going if that's what you want. But honestly, if I see that complaint again 5 freaking seasons in, I'm not going to be so nice about it. Am I just supposed to have them ignore each other now or something so I can stop having this complaint?
It was still winter back at UA as the snow was falling. "I can't help but wonder what the kids are doing out there all on their own..." Toshinori murmured while looking out the window from the teachers' lounge. He was concerned about the Midoriyas in particular, since they had problems with their Quirks thanks to the dreams they had. Hopefully it wouldn't happen without him there to guide them...
"Nabu Island is a population of one thousand," Mr. Aizawa spoke up, his back to the window. "And there have been nothing but minor crimes in the past 30 years, so I wouldn't worry too much. Besides, being a hero isn't only about flashy rescues. Remember, there's more to it than helping out in disasters and taking down supervillains." All Might's debut, the USJ Incident, and the Kamino Incident all came to mind. If there was a sense that anything like that on Nabu Island would happen, he wouldn't have sent his students out there. Especially since the latter incident involved a student, something UA wanted to avoid in the future. "The small stuff can matter just as much, like getting to know the people they're supposed to protect."
Toshinori silently nodded in agreement after hearing him out. He really hoped it stayed that way on the island...
Mostly everyone was exhausted as the sun was setting. They all sat around the office, as they were done with hero work for today. "I'm exhausted..." Rikido murmured from his seat.
"We've gone Plus Ultra beyond what's allowed by the labor standards act," Denki remarked nearby, trying to catch his breath.
"Hey, uh," Hanta raised his hand. "How 'bout fewer small jobs?" He looked towards Momo and Tenya.
"No can do," Tenya looked up at him. "All jobs are equally vital!"
Momo got onto her feet. "It may be true that we came here as heroes, but remember we're still just students. We have to work hard and prove ourselves to earn the islanders' trust."
Izuka smiled in agreement with her best friend, the others staring at her in silence, but also in understanding.
"Hey, uh," Minoru raised his hand next. "Does that go for all of us? Cause I know someone who hasn't done anything since we got here," He gave a teasing smile while pointing towards none other than Katsuki.
"Well, somebody's gotta stay behind and watch the office, moron," Katsuki retorted, looking at him in annoyance. "What are you gonna do if a villain shows up while all you geniuses are out doing stupid crap, huh?"
"We could've taken shifts if that's the case, so who's the real moron?" Izuka deadpanned quietly, earning a few snickers from those around her. Katsuki growled a little towards them as he felt like she said something. She knew that deep down, he didn't want to do smaller stuff, but what did he honestly expect to say after they got back home?
"Oh, come on, there aren't any villains on this island," Eijiro smiled up at the blond.
The door opened, getting their attention. "Sorry for barging in," A man announced as the citizens of the island all had a bunch of food with them.
"Mr. Mayor!" Tenya approached the crowd in surprise.
"It was so sweet of you to carry Granny to the hospital earlier, thank you," A woman bowed gratefully while handing him a tray.
"And thanks for fixing that old bike of mine," The woman told Momo happily, earning a smile.
"And for our battery," Mr. Matsuda arrived as well, holding boxes of food.
"And for keeping the beach safe too!"
"Precious fish on the island right here!" A man walked by with trays of food himself. Soon, the whole tables were filled with a FEAST.
"Just a little something to show you how grateful we are that you're helping us!"
"Alright!" Everyone cheered at this, jumping up in the air. "Let's dig in!"
"We're heroes!" Tenya shouted towards them, waving his arms. "People, show some restraint!"
"Thank you for your hospitality," Momo thanked the crowd of people outside the agency.
"Please! Considering how hard you've been working, it's the least we could do," The mayor waved it off.
"And I'm sure we can continue to count on you!" A woman smiled towards the two.
Momo and Tenya were shaking from how kind they were being, trying not to cry. "Of course!"
"Absolutely! We'll keep doing our best!" Tenya smiled towards them and the mayor reached into his pocket, handing over an expensive camera.
"We hear that one of you is an artist! So we all pitched in for a camera imported from your home for her to take during hero work. That way she can paint the island to her desire when she gets back to UA," He handed it over to Momo, who blinked in shock. Tenya flinched from how nice and sleek it looked.
"She is! And she'll love this!" Momo smiled brightly, knowing that Izuka didn't have time to paint currently. All her time had been spent helping the island and doing the data work.
"A 200 Series Hasselblad?!" Izuka screeched once she was presented with it, admiring the camera. "F-From the mayor?! This feels a bit excessive..." She gave a sheepish look as a camera like that went for thousands of dollars... "But it has so much memory and great autofocus and range!" She squealed while jumping up and down happily. It was kind of silly she didn't have her own camera, but they did get expensive and she usually sought out ones with good features. Tenya and Momo smiled from her enthusiasm.
"That's so nice of them!" Izuku flinched as he eyed the camera, Ochaco looking at it too.
"You'll take great photos with that!"
"She's so cute..." Denki murmured while watching her, he and Minoru drooling a little. Katsuki growled in annoyance towards them.
"That was delicious!" Everyone stated once their meal was over.
"Ahh, wow man, I'm so full!" Izuku smiled with content on his face.
"You could really feel the love they put into their cooking," Mezo commented next to him.
"Moments like these remind me why I wanted to become a hero," Tsuyu smiled happily across from Izuku and Mezo.
"Yeah!" Ochaco smiled in agreement.
"The pork especially was really juicy...I just wish there was mangoes, but oh well," Izuka drooled happily as she rubbed her full stomach.
Katsuki huffed towards the five, looking towards Izuka specifically. "Kacchan of the Bakugos!" Denki approached him, followed by Rikido, Hanta, and Fumikage. "We're gonna go get cleaned up and hit the sack."
Eijiro got up, saluting to his friend. "Night watch is all yours!"
"...What?! Why me?!" Katsuki shouted up at them in disbelief.
"Because you sat around the office all day," Hanta pointed out, and Katsuki gritted his teeth in defeat. He couldn't even argue back about that because he hadn't taken a single request or phone call...
Izuka was sitting on a bench outside the hero office, a bottle of water next to her. She looked up towards the stars in the sky...the main thing getting her focus was that she needed to move forward, and not hesitate or hold back. Such as during the Hassaikai raid or the Kyushu Incident or the Kamino Incident. So she felt like she couldn't sleep, not when there were so many things wrapped up in her head... I have my provisional license now finally. Even though I've been through so many events without it...I hope that whatever comes next, I can step up. I'm still fourth compared to them... She sighed while thinking about Katsuki, Izuku, and Shoto. It felt like she was always running to catch up to them...to be seen by them.
Katsuki was walking down the street when he looked up and saw her, blinking. She felt his presence and turned to him with a small smile. "Hey, Katsuki."
He hummed and walked over, looking at the girl. "The hell are you doing up?" He questioned as she looked back up to the night sky.
"Well, I couldn't sleep. Not when this is my first hero project with my license. And I thought you'd be thirsty when you got back," She held up the water bottle to him.
He looked at her in bewilderment that part of her stayed up just to make sure he was okay. Even though she needed the rest for tomorrow's work like everyone else. He stayed silent as he snatched it from her and took a seat. "...Thanks," He muttered while opening up the water bottle and taking a sip. He then looked towards the sky as well with her. "...So how's it feel?"
"I honestly don't know," She admitted while she rubbed the back of her neck. "When you've seen and done so much even without one, it's kind of hard to collect your thoughts. But...I never really embraced it until recently."
"Hah?" He turned to her in confusion. "What makes you say that?"
"My fighting always resorted to support. Not to the level you were at before we came to UA. Remember when Ms. Thirteen mentioned how Quirks can be dangerous? So it always stayed in my mind, even when I learned new abilities. I thought I had to hold back because of it. That my limit would make me weaker and I couldn't have that," Her eyes saddened a little as she felt like that was why she still couldn't be compared to him. That she kept fearing for herself and others around her like a crutch or something...
"That's some bullshit," Katsuki huffed, causing her to look at him wide-eyed. "If you hold back, you're just focusing on your weakness, not how you can get stronger. And besides..." He let out a sigh, remembering how hard she fought against All for One and Overhaul. "You don't really need to prove it. Because you showed them that you're not the same mouse you were when we came to UA. So I don't wanna hear any more excuses out of your mouth! Or I'll kill you!"
She blinked as she felt like this was a reiteration of what he did for her before the Sports Festival. She then gave a small smile that he continued to acknowledge her regardless of what happened. "You know, I never tell you enough just how much I appreciate you, Katsuki."
"Huh?" He faltered from his sip, looking at her while trying not to blush. "W-w-what the hell? I didn't ask for your praise!"
"I know, but you used to bully the absolute shit out of not just me, but my brother," She laughed sheepishly, closing her eyes with a smile as she looked up at the stars again. "And I really didn't like it. I couldn't stand to be around you. Izuku never really got hung up on it, and he just...kept being drawn to you. At the time, I didn't understand why, but I went along with it for his sake. But now...after you kept saving me and helping me, I started to see why. Even though you could be nicer, you're always there for me. I can't say that about anyone else."
He blinked from her words, knowing that he couldn't deny that...despite his attitude, he had changed his opinion on the twins. They still weren't high, but if he had to admit it...Izuka was someone he could worry about getting towards his level. The bullying though...that was something that was still a mark against him. He then let out a heavy sigh. "Idiot, that's...I just..." He struggled to explain it because he felt like he couldn't put it into words. "...needed something to take it out on."
"Obviously," She scoffed, crossing her arms. Doing that was the only explanation sometimes.
"Shut up," He muttered, earning a giggle from the short girl.
"Either way..." She gave a small smile. "Aside from my family, you're the only person who's known me the longest. Who else would I rival with? That I can say I've managed to survive with after a battle?"
He faltered as he felt the same way. That if he hadn't stepped in on instinct to save her, they wouldn't be talking right now. "...Yeah. Who else?" He paused again as he felt like he needed to say it, since...it was obviously something that wasn't forgotten. "...I don't always mean to be an asshole. It's just-"
"You don't need to explain," She interrupted with a grin, closing her eyes. "Even when we're at our worst, you're my asshole."
"Hey!" He shouted while looking at her angrily. "Where do you get off on saying crap like that?!"
"Ha ha!" She laughed out from his reaction. "I get it from you, remember?"
"Yeah well, stray too far and no one will recognize you anymore," He then reached out to ruffle the top of her head.
"Ah! Katsuki, come on, knock it off!" She giggled while trying to move his arm away. Izuka then felt a chill and shivered a bit, hugging herself. He noticed this and sighed, wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her in closer. She yelped at his sudden action as her cheek rested on his arm. "W-what are you—"
"The sound of the teeth shattering would get on my nerves. So don't question it," He closed his eyes as her face got really red. She tried not to focus on it so much as she squeezed her eyes shut. But it was hard to do it when she was in close proximity like this. He stared down at the girl, turning away as his heart was thumping.
Even when she gets on my nerves or when I don't wanna admit it...she's my short stack at the end of the day. And…this is pretty nice, I'm not gonna lie.
In the entryway, Izuku was training while looking down at his notebook. 1,365...1,366 He was practicing his kicks for his Shoot Style. 1,367! 1,368!
"I can transfer my Quirk to another," Toshinori grinned as a rainbow light came from his palm. "The true name of power...is One for All. It's a sacred torch. One person improves the power, then hands it off to another person. It continues to grow as it's passed along. It is this cultivated power that allows me to save those who are in need of a hero. The truth behind my strength. And you're next. I can give you my ability. You have inherited One for All, and you may one day have to fight against this great evil. Now...it's your turn..."
Izuku stopped to take a breather after remembering what his mentor told him the last semester...he looked at his hands. In my current state, I can only use One for All at 20 percent. I'm maxed out after that... He then clenched his fists, remembering what his sister went through during the Kamino Incident. And how she was continuing to be indirectly affected by One for All. I need to work harder, so I can make this Quirk my own someday!
Katsuki and Izuka were walking past, as the night shift was over. Plus he convinced her to go to sleep. They came to a stop, blinking in surprise to see Izuku. Katsuki then clamped his mouth shut, walking up to him. "Kacchan!" He then noticed his sister. "And big sister! Uh, hey, how's the patrol going?"
"Looks like you're getting a little better with One for All," He pointed out to his rival.
Izuku flinched and put a finger in front of his mouth. "We can't talk about that here! What if somebody's listening?"
"Everyone's asleep, don't worry," Izuka waved it off.
"Why aren't you?" Izuku blinked towards his sister, and looked between her and Katsuki. He had a feeling that they were talking together as he tried not to fanboy about it.
"Eh...I didn't feel like it at first, but I was on my way inside to sleep," She shrugged a little to sum it up. If she even dared to try telling him about her talk with Katsuki...she wouldn't last a second. "And you're one to talk, you're out here too!"
"Fair," He rubbed his neck sheepishly.
"I'm not a big fan of waiting, you know," Katsuki retorted while walking past them.
"Trust me, I think we know that better than anybody," Izuku gave a knowing expression. "You haven't changed much since we were kids..."
Katsuki then gave a big stomp. "So hurry up and make that Quirk your own instead of his." Izuka blinked at the advice he was giving. He then turned around with a serious expression. "Then we can finally have a real fight." Izuku froze and looked back at Katsuki in confusion. The blond held out a hand. "I'll prove to you once and for all...I'm gonna be the number one hero, and you're both gonna be in my dust."
"...Yeah," Izuku declared, Izuka giving a small smile towards the two. Almost their whole lives, Katsuki wouldn't be saying any of this to Izuku. But now that time had passed, she was proud of the both of them. "I'll work as hard as I have to until this power is truly mine. And then I'll be the greatest hero in the world!"
"Yeah, whatever," Katsuki dismissed at hearing this. "I'm gonna be the greatest. And don't you slack off either, Izuka. Because if you do, it'll piss me off if you don't work hard enough."
She blinked and gave him a small smile. "I won't. I promise." Izuku smiled too, earning a small growl from their classmate.
"Excuse me," They turned around to see Katsuma standing behind them.
"Katsuma! Why are you here?" Izuku exclaimed in surprise to see him.
"Um...to tell you that..." His hat hid his eyes as he looked a little nervous. "There's a villain!" He looked up at the three.
"A villain?!" The twins shouted in unison, already ready to fight. "Where?!"
Katsuki then pushed them out of the way. "Alright brat, start talking!"
