Chapter 5

The room was heavy with the echoes of Orion's distress, his cries punctuating the tense silence that filled the space. Each contraction seemed to increase in intensity, pushing him to seek any possible relief from the relentless pain. In a moment of desperation, Orion's voice broke through the haze of discomfort.

"I wanna walk around, please," he pleaded, his eyes wide and pleading as he looked at Articus.

Articus, who had been a constant source of support, immediately moved closer to his brother. His expression softened with understanding and determination. "Come on, sweet boy," he said gently, taking Orion's hands in his own. "Let's get you up and moving a bit."

With Articus's help, Orion managed to slowly rise from the couch, his movements unsteady and fraught with pain. He leaned heavily on his brother, the weight of his discomfort making each step a challenge. Articus kept a steady arm around Orion's waist, guiding him carefully as they began to walk around the room.

The motion seemed to offer a small amount of relief, and Orion's cries softened to pained gasps as he focused on the rhythmic pattern of walking. Articus matched his pace, his voice a soothing murmur of encouragement. "Just keep moving, Orion. It might help ease some of the pressure."

Orion nodded, though his face was still etched with pain. Each step was an effort, but the change in position provided a brief distraction from the intensity of the contractions. He clung to Articus's arm, using him as a support as they made their slow circuit around the room.

"I don't know how much longer I can do this," Orion admitted, his voice strained but tinged with a flicker of hope. "It's so hard."

Articus squeezed his brother's hand reassuringly, his own determination unwavering. "You're doing incredibly well, Orion. We're getting closer, and every step you take is bringing you closer to meeting your baby. Just a little more."

As they continued to walk, the fire in the hearth provided a warm, steady backdrop to their quiet struggle. The room, once filled with the harsh sounds of pain, was now softened by their shared efforts, a testament to the bond between the two brothers as they faced this challenging moment together.
