"Marry Sasuke-denka?"

Hyūga Neji's normally composed face did not betray his true feelings about this sudden engagement, but he clasped his fingers imperceptibly in his lap as he sat in seiza before his uncle, King Hiashi.

An internal storm swirled within him, his pulse quickening at the implications of his uncle's words. As a prince of the Moon Nation, he understood all too well the weight of duty that pressed upon his chest like a heavy stone.

He had been born an omega into a world dominated by alphas—a reality that left him no choice in his fate, and now he faced the prospect of marrying the young prince of the Fire Nation, Uchiha Sasuke.

He had never met the alpha in person, but whispers of his reputation had traveled across the borders, even reaching the Moon Palace.

Neji's pearly eyes fell upon the lush gardens beyond the open shoji screens, where moonflowers danced gracefully in the gentle breeze, their beauty a stark contrast to his nervous heart.

"I understand, Hiashi-heika," he replied, trying to infuse his voice with a calm he did not feel. "When should I leave for the Fire Nation?"

His words hung in the air like a delicate promise, a confession of his destiny.

"After the Lunar Festival," Hiashi said, his pale gaze moving away from the vibrant flowers to rest on his nephew.

The king's tone was firm, but Neji could feel the unspoken weight behind it. "Our nations have been allies since the time of our ancestors, as we are distant relatives, and with the tensions of succession in the Earth Nation, this union is of the utmost importance to strengthen our alliance."

Neji's heart sank slightly at the mention of politics, but he could hardly argue with the logic of the arrangement.

However, his mind raced with thoughts of Sasuke-denka—what kind of person he would be, if the rumors of his cruelty held any truth, or if the fire lilies of his homeland were merely a reflection of his beauty.

"Madara-heika is very pleased with this arrangement," Hiashi continued, his voice blending with the serenity of the gardens. "And according to the letter, Sasuke-denka does not oppose the marriage, nor is he averse to the idea of making you his omega."

At his uncle's final words, Neji felt a rush of heat flood his cheeks. The thought that Sasuke-denka might welcome him sent a spark of hope igniting within his chest, a contrast to the cold grip of duty that had enveloped him moments before.

Could it be possible that this union would not only fulfill his family's expectations, but also harbor the potential for personal happiness?

"The Fire Nation delegation will be coming for the Lunar Festival… You will be able to meet Sasuke-denka properly before the official ceremony in the Fire Capital," Hiashi concluded, a hint of finality in his tone.

With that, the weight of his future fell heavily onto Neji's shoulders. He would soon meet his future husband, and he longed to see for himself what kind of man Uchiha Sasuke really was.

Would he be as cruel as the rumors had it? Or fiercely loyal to those he loved? Hanami—his former nanny—had once told him that no other clan valued love as the Uchiha clan. And they loved more intensely than other people.

"You may go."

Neji rose gracefully from the tatami floor, bowing respectfully to his uncle before leaving. As he entered the long hallway adorned with polished wood and rice paper walls, he felt the familiar firmness of the tatami beneath his feet—a sense of grounding amidst the whirlwind of his thoughts.

This was his home, a sanctuary he had known for the past sixteen years. Soon, however, he would leave the Moon Palace, embarking on a journey to the Fire Nation.

What awaited him in the Red Palace? He had read countless books in the library, marveling at the red rooftops and the majestic Dragon Throne meant for the Fire Kings.

And the beautiful gardens filled with exotic flowers and the elusive fire lilies that bloomed only in the Fire Nation, which he would soon see with his own eyes.

"Nii-san?" a soft voice interrupted his reverie, bringing him back to the present.

He turned to see his cousin, Hinata-hime, approaching him, the lilac silks of her kimono rustling softly on the tatami floor as she walked.

"What did chichi-ue want?" her eyes, usually filled with warmth, now widened with curiosity.

"I'm going to marry Sasuke-denka," Neji replied, the words escaping his lips before he could fully comprehend their implications.

Hinata's expression changed from surprise to a complex mix of emotions—worry and happiness intertwining.

"Are you okay with this?" she asked, her voice soft but firm, resonating with the care she had always shown him.

Neji paused, searching for the right words. It was a marriage bound by duty, but a flicker of anticipation danced within him. "I must embrace my destiny, Hinata-hime. Perhaps there is more to this than mere politics."

As he spoke, he met her gaze, hoping to convey the tumultuous mix of fear and hope that stirred within him.

An alliance could lead not only to a stronger bond between their nations, but maybe, just maybe, to a connection that transcended the expectations placed upon him.

Hinata nodded, a gentle smile creeping across her face. "You are strong, nii-san. I believe you will find your way."

With her encouragement echoing in his heart, Neji stepped forward, ready to face the unknown that awaited him.

The Lunar Festival would be held in three moons, and he felt a thrilling sense of anticipation and curiosity at the prospect of meeting the fire prince.
