Sora heard Riku come in, he quickly closed his eyes and pretended he was sleeping. He heard Riku sigh and close the door shortly after. Sora opened his eyes and glared at the ceiling. He couldn't sleep. He tried to sleep but he just couldn't. He was angry, he had heard Riku on the phone this morning.
He was getting comfortable on the couch when he heard Riku's voice from outside. He walked to the balcony door and opened it slightly. He heard Riku's side of the conversation only of course. His voice carried up to the apartment on the sixth floor. The streets were empty at this time of day making Riku's voice crystal clear. His words shook Sora.
Riku said Wakka, apologized for calling him on accident then told Wakka to have Kairi call him back. Why would Wakka tell Kairi that? Was Wakka with Kairi? If so, why was he at Kairi's so early in the morning? The questions kept swirling around in Sora's head. He knew the answer but didn't want to admit it. He didn't want to believe Kairi would do that, so soon after they broke up. He just couldn't believe it.
Sora tried to sleep. He really did. First on the couch, but he couldn't get comfortable. He couldn't get the conversation out of his mind. He tossed and turned, removed the blanket from him and shortly after putting it back on him. He adjusted his pillow twenty times, but it didn't help. Nothing was helping. He ditched the couch and headed for Riku's room. Maybe a bed would be better.
It wasn't better, it was the same. He just wanted to sleep, he truly did. He was exhausted. It had been a few weeks since he tried to stay up all night. The first night is always the hardest, he knew, that's why he bought the energy drinks. If only Riku hadn't caught him.
Sora groaned and flopped onto his side, desperate to get comfortable. Desperate to stop thinking about Kairi and Wakka. Kairi and Wakka together, in the same bed. The same bed Kairi and Sora used to share. Kairi and Wakka together not even a day after Kairi and Sora broke up. Kairi and Wakka, Kairi and Wakka, Kairi and Wakka, Kairi and Wakka, KAIRI AND WAKKA!
Sora tossed the blankets off him and got out of bed. He got dressed and crept out of Riku's room. He promised Riku he wouldn't sneak out, but this was different. Sora had to know.
Quietly, Sora left Riku's apartment once again. He wasn't thinking rationally. He was upset and exhausted, which only made things worse. His thoughts lead to the idea that Kairi was cheating on him during their relationship.
Now that they were no longer together, she decided to make it official with Wakka. Sora groaned at the thought of Wakka touching Kairi, being close to her.
Why was Sora so bothered by this? He didn't even like Kairi in that way, but that didn't make it right. It wasn't right that Kairi had someone, and Sora didn't. It wasn't right that she just broke up with him and was in the arms of another man. It wasn't right that Sora was alone, and Kairi wasn't. It just wasn't right!
Sora took off in the direction of his home he shared with Kairi. He didn't have a plan for when he got there. He just needed to know if she was with Wakka. If Wakka isn't there, then Sora will leave. He will return to Riku's and get some much-needed sleep, but if he is there then…then. Sora wasn't sure what he would do.
When Sora arrived at his former house, he found the living room window curtains open. He could see Kairi sitting on the couch…alone reading a book. Sora sighed in relief; he was wrong. He had never been so thankful to be wrong before.
He was about to head back to Riku's when Wakka walked in the living room from the kitchen with two mugs. Kairi smiled at him and took one of the mugs from Wakka. He smiled back and bent down and kissed Kairi.
Sora's eyes widened, he couldn't believe it, Kairi and Wakka are...Kairi and Wakka. Sora felt his blood boil, he was angry, jealous even. How could Kairi do this to him? Without thinking Sora walked into the house, startling Kairi and Wakka. Kairi put her mug down and got to her feet taking a few steps towards Sora.
"Sora, what are you doing here?" she asked, alarmed. She glanced back at Wakka, and he simply put his mug on the coffee table and folded his arms. As if challenging Sora to say something about him.
"Why is Wakka here?" Sora countered as he balled his hands into fists.
"Sora I-."
"Woah hey, I got this Kai, ya?" Wakka said as he cut off Kairi, "I'm here because she needed me,"
"Needed you?" Sora glared, feeling as though Wakka was insulting him in some way.
"Ya needed a real man to be with her. Someone who actually pays attention to her instead of only thinking of himself, ya?"
"Wakka don't," Kairi warned timidly.
"Don't protect him Kai, you've been telling me for months that it's always been about him. He needs to know that just because he has nightmares doesn't mean he can ignore you." Wakka said as he glared at Sora, "He had da nerve to come here and demand answers, he's going to get them, ya?"
Sora took deep breaths to calm down, Kairi told Wakka about the nightmares. She promised she wouldn't tell anyone. She told Riku that was one thing but to tell Wakka, that was another. She told Riku because she was concerned for Sora. She told Wakka to complain about Sora, about how he couldn't deal. Couldn't be there for her because he needed her to be there for him.
"You told…him," Sora said, his voice shaking.
"Sora, I was just venting," Kairi tried to explain.
"There's no point in lying to him anymore Kai, he needs to know da truth, ya?" Wakka said firmly, "He needs to know that he's weak and pathetic. That he couldn't satisfy you like I can,"
"Wakka that's enough!" Kairi yelled.
"Stop protecting him!" Wakka snapped at Kairi, "He was never there for you, but I was for three months! I'm still here too, ya?" Wakka admitted, seeming to forget that Sora was in the room. Sora's breath became erratic, and he was struggling not to attack Wakka. He just admitted that they were sleeping together while Kairi and Sora were still dating. Sora's breathing caught Wakka's attention, "You're upset now? You care now? Where was this when you were still with Kairi?"
"Shut up!" Sora ordered as he summoned his Keyblade and charged at Wakka. Wakka was caught off guard, but he was able to avoid Sora's attack, causing Sora to run into the end table. Breaking the lamp that was on it and the table itself.
"Oh, you want to fight, ya?" Wakka teased as he grabbed his Blitz Ball. "Bring it on," He taunted as he got into his fighting stands.
"Wakka, Sora stop!" Kairi ordered, but neither of them listened to her.
Sora charged at Wakka again and swung his Keyblade at him. Wakka blocked it and grabbed Sora's arm that was holding the Keyblade. He twisted Sora's arm behind his back, making it a V shape. Sora groaned and tried to get out of Wakka's hold. He couldn't believe that Wakka could avoid all his attacks. Not sleeping took its toll on Sora.
"Drop your blade brotha," Wakka ordered but Sora kept a firm grip on it. Wakka then yanked Sora's arm up and he immediately released his blade. When it dropped to the floor Wakka kicked it away. He twisted Sora around and smirked at him. It only pissed off Sora more, but Wakka was winning, and Sora knew that. "You can't win, so stop trying, ya?"
Sora glared and punched Wakka with his free hand, hitting him on his left cheek. Wakka tightened his grip on Sora, pulled him forward and kneed him in the gut three times before shoving him away. Sora stumbled back unable to breathe properly. He recovered quickly and charged at Wakka. Tackling him into the coffee table, making it break.
Hot coffee spilled on them, but it didn't seem to bother them. With the advantage, Sora took the opportunity to punch Wakka. He got a few shots in before Wakka threw him back. He was lighter than Wakka, so it was like tossing a doll. Sora flew back and landed near his Keyblade. He scrambled to grab it, but Wakka grabbed his leg and pulled him away from it.
"Riku!"
Sora heard Kairi say but ignored it and kicked Wakka, hitting him in the gut. He was released, letting him get to his feet. He punched Wakka in the nose, but not hard enough for it to break. Wakka threw one back connecting with Sora's jaw. Sora stumbled back, giving Wakka a chance to smack Sora in the face with his Blitz Ball. Sora's nose made a loud cracking sound, the force of the ball breaking his nose.
As Sora covered his injured nose, unable to help himself, Wakka shoved him again and threw his Blitz Ball once again. Sora managed to dodge it. "Riku, Sora…he's here and he – Ah!" Kairi screamed as she dodged Wakka's Blitz Ball that Sora just avoided. Wakka groaned in annoyance and tackled Sora to the ground and proceeded to punch Sora over and over.
"Wakka stop it!" Kairi ordered but Wakka didn't stop, and Sora couldn't get away. He tried his best to block Wakka's punches, "Sora is here, and they started fighting! I can't get them to stop!" Kairi said desperately.
Sora vaguely heard Kairi put her phone down letting him know that Riku was on his way. Sora didn't know if he should be grateful for that or worried.
