Episode 329: Up Against the Wally
On the very next morning, Wally had woke up early to go over his battle plans against Brendan. He looked over Brendan's profile and saw some of the Pokémon included a Mightyena, a Cacturne, an Aggron, a Roserade, a Vileplume, an Absol, a Ludicolo, a Gallade, a Pelipper, an Exploud, a Hariyama, a Skarmory, a Tentacruel, a Machamp, a Medicham, a Magnezone, a Dodrio, a Pinsir, a Magcargo, a Muk, a Weezing, a Sandslash, a Zangoose, a Seviper, a Lunatone, a Solrock, a Cradily, an Armaldo, a Claydol, a Kecleon, a Duscknoir, a Golduck, a Tropius, a Rhyperior, a Glalie, a Walrein, a Kingdra, a Xatu, a Farigiraf, a Grumpig, a Wailord, a Sharpedo, a Swalot, a Volbeat, an Illumise, a Manectric, a Sableye, a Probopass, a Ninjask, a Shedinja, a Metagross. Brendan's evolved Pokémon included Shiftry, Linoone, Masquerain, Slaking, Golem, Alakazam, Crobat, Flygon, and Salamence.
"After seeing Brendan in action, I gotta plan my moves carefully. Same thing can be said for Tyson, Harrison, and Sora. I gotta win my battle against Brendan first," Wally said.
Over to Brendan, he and Max were going over a strategy against Wally. Wally's profile showed that he has Gallade as his ace Pokémon as the others consisted of a Delcatty, a Roserade, an Altaria, a Magnezone, an Azumarill, a Cacturne, and a Flygon.
"According to Wally's profile, his ace Pokémon is his Gallade. He has a series of strong moves he uses to overcome his opponents," Max said.
"Wally might be a nice guy outside the battlefield, but I know Wally isn't going to use the nice guy routine with me," Brendan said.
"Well, you're going to whoop him good today. When you win, maybe the Hoenn Elite Four would be begging you to be a member," Max said.
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Max. I don't know if I'm actually going to win it. Wally might win. It could be Tyson, could be Harrison, or it could be Sora going for thirds. It's best just to go out and battle to the best of my abilities," Brendan said.
"You're absolutely right, Brendan. The best of your abilities is all that matters," Rei said, standing at the doorway. "Sora and Ethan knew it wasn't going to be easy, but they both gave each other everything they had. The same was said for Kairi and May during the Grand Festival. Also, let's not forget your battles during the tournament, including your battle against Morrison yesterday."
"Yeah, you're right, Master. Morrison gave me a run for my money when we battled yesterday. And I know Wally's planning the same thing today," Brendan said.
"Just do your best out there," Rei said.
"I will, Master," Brendan said.
Over to Sora, he was going over his strategy against Harrison. He knew he wasn't going to be an easy opponent to contend with, so he had to plan his strategy carefully. He exchanged Cacturne, Absol, Manectric, Armaldo, and Probopass for Octillery, Shiftry, Ludicolo, Slaking, and Hariyama. Sora decided to go with Pikachu, Medicham, Octillery, Hariyama, Manectric, and Ludicolo for the battle against Harrison.
"Well, Harrison has better be ready because I plan to give it everything I've got," Sora said.
"That's the spirit, Sora," Kairi said, taking her boyfriend in her arms. Pikachu and Angel nuzzled each other very lovingly. "Just know I'm going to be cheering for you all the way. And Karen too."
"Well, I'm the luckiest boy in the world since my girlfriend and my sister are my two favorite girls," Sora said.
"You're so very sweet, Sora," Kairi said, giving her boyfriend a kiss on the cheek. They then kiss each other on the lips, unaware that Roxas, Xion, Karen, and their partners were watching them while smiling.
"Isn't that the sweetest thing ever?" Xion asked, swooning.
"It sure is," Roxas agreed, taking her in his arms, hugging her. Xion hugs him back. Roxas blushed. Karen puffed her cheeks, feeling a bit jealous.
"Lucky," Karen said. She then thinks of Tom, wishing she could just confess her love for him, and not worry about Sora teasing her.
"So you going to join the others at the stands, Kairi?" Sora asked.
"Well, I decided to join you in the back and cheer for you. Karen, Roxas, Xion, and Ven, too," Kairi said.
"Sure, I could get all the support I can get," Sora said. Kairi giggled.
"Get a room, lovebirds!" Morrison shouted to them.
The couple turned to see Morrison and they chuckled nervously.
It was now time for the first battle for the day as Brendan and Wally entered the battlefield. Sora, Kairi, Roxas, Xion, Ventus, Karen, and their partners were in the locker room along with Tyson and Harrison, watching the battle on the screen as Riku, Naminé, Terra, Aqua, Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, May, Wes, Rui, Michael, Max, Lisia, Zinnia, Morrison, Rei, Jay, Eevee, Azurill, Thor, Eclair, and Marill were sitting in the stands.
"Ladies and gentlemen, our first battle for the day is about to begin! We are in for an exciting day of battling and only eight of these Trainers will be moving on to make the top eight! So for the first match, we have Wally from Petalburg City and Brendan from Littleroot Town! Only one of these two will be walking away a winner, but before we get ahead of ourselves, we will have a battlefield selection!" The announcer announced as the Rock Field has been selected. "The first half of our battle will be done on the Rock Field! Let's see how far these two will go!" Brendan took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Okay, Pinsir! You're up first!" Brendan called out. His Pokéball opened and his Pinsir emerged from inside, ready to battle. Wally took out his Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Azumarill!" Wally called out. His Pokéball opened and his Azumarill emerged from inside.
"Wally has selected an Azumarill as Brendan has picked a Pinsir!" The announcer announced.
"Begin the battle!" The referee called out.
"Okay, Pinsir! Use your Vise Grip! Let's go!" Brendan ordered. Pinsir rushes at the Aqua Rabbit Pokémon with its two horns.
"Dodge and use Ice Spinner!" Wally ordered. Azumarill dodges Pinsir's Vise Grip and spins around while surrounded by ice. Azumarill lands a hit on the Stag Beetle Pokémon.
"Azumarill has landed a hit onto Pinsir!" The announcer announced.
"Pinsir! Storm Throw!" Brendan ordered. Pinsir came at Azumarill and grabbed it. It then gave Azumarill a toss against a rock pillar, dealing a critical hit.
"Ooh, that was a nasty Storm Throw from Pinsir!" The announcer announced.
"Okay, Pinsir! Use Stone Edge!" Brendan ordered. Pinsir unleashed a Stone Edge and sent it right at the Aqua Rabbit Pokémon.
"And here comes a Stone Edge!" The announcer announced.
"Dodge and use Aqua Tail!" Wally ordered. Azumarill dodged Pinsir's Stone Edge and lands a hit with Aqua Tail.
"Azumarill lands a hit with that Aqua Tail!" The announcer announced.
"Stone Edge again!" Brendan ordered. Pinsir unleashed another Stone Edge. Pinsir lands a successful hit this time.
"And Pinsir makes a successful hit with that Stone Edge!" The announcer announced.
"Storm Throw!" Brendan ordered. Pinsir heads for Azumarill and gave the Aqua Rabbit Pokémon a toss and lands on the ground, beaten.
"Azumarill is unable to battle! Pinsir wins!" The referee announced.
"And Brendan takes the lead against Wally! Which one will Wally be sending out next?" The announcer asked as Wally called back his Azumarill.
"You did a great job, Azumarill. Get yourself a good rest," Wally said. He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Altaria! Go!" His Pokéball opened and his Altaria came out to battle.
"Wally's next Pokémon is an Altaria! Wally's Altaria has the advantage here when it comes to types!" The announcer announced. Brendan calls back his Pinsir. "Wait, Brendan is making a switch in Pokémon!" Brendan took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"Glalie! It's your turn!" Brendan called out. His Pokéball opened and his Glalie emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"Brendan's second Pokémon is a Glalie! It's a known fact that Dragon and Flying-type Pokémon are vulnerable to Ice-type moves!" The announcer announced.
"Altaria! Use Dragon Pulse!" Wally ordered. Altaria unleashed Dragon Pulse and sends it right at Glalie.
"Dodge and use Icy Wind!" Brendan ordered. Glalie dodged Altaria's Dragon Pulse and blew Icy Wind at the Humming Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Dragon Pulse again!" Wally ordered. Altaria dodged Glalie's Icy Wind and fired another Dragon Pulse at the Face Pokémon, dealing some damage.
"That was a close call for Altaria because it would have been a bad hit if Glalie had succeeded!" The announcer announced.
"Ice Beam!" Brendan ordered. Glalie fired Ice Beam at the Humming Pokémon.
"Use Cotton Guard!" Wally ordered. Altaria uses its fluffy wings as a guard against Glalie's Ice Beam.
"What an unexpected save! Altaria uses its Cotton Guard to defend itself from Glalie's Ice Beam!" The announcer announced.
"I never seen Cotton Guard used like that before," May said.
"Cotton Guard does raise defense by three stages, so it was a great save on Wally's part," Max said. Wally calls Altaria back.
"Wally is making a switch in Pokémon!" The announcer announced as Wally took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Magnezone! Go!" Wally shouted. His Pokéball opened and his Magnezone emerged from inside.
"Magnezone is Wally's third Pokémon!" The announcer announced.
"It's good that Wally is making a switch like that because Magnezone has the edge over Ice-types like Glalie," Naminé said.
"Now, what moves that Magnezone is going to use?" Kris asked.
"Magnezone! Use Flash Cannon!" Wally ordered. Magnezone fired Flash Cannon, hitting Glalie, resulting in a knockout.
"Glalie is unable to battle! Magnezone wins!" The referee announced.
"Wally pushes back with a vengeance!" The announcer announced. Brendan calls his Glalie back.
"You did your best, Glalie. Get yourself a good, long rest," Brendan said. He took out his next Pokéball and threw it. "Okay, Swampert! Go!" His Pokéball opened and his Swampert came out to battle.
"And the third Pokémon on Brendan's team is a Swampert! Is Wally sticking with Magnezone or will be making a switch?" The announcer asked.
"I know Magnezone's Electric-type moves won't have any affect on Swampert because it's a Ground-type Pokémon, but that's not going to slow me down. Magnezone! Use Tri-Attack!" Magnezone fired a beam cascading in red, blue, and yellow energy and sends it right at Swampert."
"Magnezone is unleashing a powerful Tri-Attack!" The announcer announced.
"Dodge and use Muddy Water!" Brendan ordered. Swampert dodged Magnezone's Tri-Attack and fired Muddy Water at the Magnet Area Pokémon.
"Magnezone's Tri-Attack misses its mark and Swampert unleashes a Muddy Water!" The announcer announced.
"Use Hammer Arm!" Brendan ordered. Swampert comes at Magnezone and landed a hit with Hammer Arm, landing some heavy damage, resulting in a knockout.
"Magnezone is unable to battle! Swampert wins!" The referee announced.
"Magnezone is down for the count, leaving Wally with four more Pokémon left!" The announcer announced. Wally called his Magnezone back.
"Sorry, Magnezone. I should have called you back. But you've earned yourself a good, long rest," Wally said. He took out his next Pokéball and threw it. "Delcatty! Go!" His Pokéball opened and his Delcatty emerged from inside.
"Wally's fourth Pokémon is a Delcatty!" The announcer announced.
"Delcatty! Use Feint Attack!" Wally ordered.
"Hammer Arm!" Wally ordered. Swampert tried to land a hit with Hammer Arm, but misses. Delcatty lands a hit.
"Delcatty makes a good start with that Feint Attack!" The announcer announced.
"Hyper Beam!" Wally ordered. Delcatty fired Hyper Beam, hitting Swampert, dealing some heavy damage. Swampert was knocked out.
"Swampert is unable to battle! Delcatty wins!" The referee announced.
"Another Pokémon that Brendan lost to Wally! Which one will Brendan use next against Wally?" The announcer asked as Brendan called back his Swampert. He took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"Okay, Golem! You're up!" Brendan called out. His Pokéball opened and his Golem came out to battle.
"Brendan has sent out Golem, his fourth Pokémon!" The announcer announced. Wally called back his Delcatty. He took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"Roserade! Go!" Wally called out. His Pokéball opened and his Roserade emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"And Wally's fifth Pokémon is Roserade!" The announcer announced.
"This looks bad for Brendan because his Golem's at a disadvantage against a Grass-type like Roserade," Max said.
"It doesn't look very good for him," May said.
"You kidding? Golem is going to cream Roserade!" Morrison said.
"Roserade! Use Petal Dance!" Wally ordered. Roserade unleashed a Petal Dance at the Megaton Pokémon.
"Use Dig to dodge it!" Brendan ordered. Golem dug underground to dodge Roserade's Petal Dance.
"What a narrow escape! Golem avoids that Petal Dance with that Dig!" The announcer announced.
"Be on your guard, Roserade. As soon as Golem comes out, try another Petal Dance," Wally said. Roserade nodded. Golem came from underneath Roserade and sent the Bouquet Pokémon flying.
"Roserade is sent flying!" The announcer announced. Roserade unleashed Petal Dance again. "Roserade lets out another Petal Dance to attack Golem!"
"Block with Rock Tomb!" Brendan ordered. Golem unleashed Rock Tomb and saved itself with rock pillars erupting from the ground. "Use Rollout!" Golem rolls right around and lands a hit.
"Golem is making it very difficult for Roserade with that Rollout!" The announcer announced.
"Yes! With each hit, Roserade gets more damage," Lyra said.
"See, what did I tell ya?" Morrison asked.
"Try to get away!" Wally called out. Roserade tried to dodge, but the Megaton Pokémon was coming too fast for Roserade to dodge.
"Roserade has nowhere to go! And those rocks in the way aren't making things any easier!" The announcer announced. Roserade is hit two more times and knocked out by Golem's knockout.
"Roserade is unable to battle! Golem wins!" The referee announced.
"What a fantastic battle! And since Wally lost three Pokémon in Brendan's favor, we will be having a fifteen minute recess for us to change the battlefield while the competing Trainers has themselves some rest!" The announcer announced.
Over to Ben and his apprentices, they were watching the match closely, but none more than Nora. She was at the edge of her seat ever since the battle started.
"I have to admit, Wally is a better Trainer than I thought," Blake said.
"Wally has proven himself that he has potential as a Pokémon Trainer. I am anxious to see if he can turn it around like Brendan's previous opponent did," Ben said.
Brendan stepped into the locker room as Sora, Kairi, Roxas, Xion, Karen, Ventus, Pikachu, Angel, Xipak, Celeste, Blossom, and Sparky waited for him.
"Enjoying the show?" Brendan asked.
"Yeah. I was really amazed out there. Wally came a long way since we first came to Petalburg City," Sora said.
"He sure has. He was putting up one heck of a fight out there," Brendan said.
"You think he's saving his Gallade for last?" Xion asked.
"I think he is, Xion. That one's the only one he didn't send out yet," Brendan said.
"Well, I'm looking forward to see what you two can do next," Roxas said.
"Me too," Kairi said.
"It'll be awesome," Ventus said.
"Well, just keep watching if you wanna see how awesome," Brendan said.
Fifteen minutes had passed and the second half of the battle was about to begin, and it was taking place on the Ice Field.
"The next portion of our battle is about to begin! This time, it's taking place of the Ice Field! Brendan is leading with four to three! Let's see what happens next!" The announcer announced. Wally took out his Pokéball and threw it.
"Altaria! Go!" Wally called out. His Pokéball opened and his Altaria came out to battle. Brendan took out his Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Skarmory!" Brendan called out. His Pokéball opened and his Skarmory flew out to battle.
"Brendan and Wally have sent out two Flying-types out to battle against each other! Now, let's see how which one will still be flying after this!" The announcer announced.
"Skarmory! Use Steel Wing!" Brendan ordered. Skarmory flew after the Humming Pokémon with a Steel Wing.
"Dodge and use Aerial Ace!" Wally ordered. Altaria dodged Skarmory's Steel Wing and flew right at the Armor Bird Pokémon and landed a hit.
"Skarmory! Use Swift!" Brendan ordered. Skarmory fired Swift at Altaria, pelting it. "Use Brave Bird!" Skarmory straight into the air and its body becomes surrounded by an orange, bird-shaped aura. It then slams into Altaria, dealing some heavy damage. Skarmory suffered some recoil damage as a result.
"Skarmory lands a devastating blow with a Brave Bird! It dealt some recoil damage!" The announcer announced.
"Altaria! Use Aerial Ace!" Wally ordered.
"Use Steel Wing!" Brendan ordered.
Skarmory and Altaria flew at each other and landed some heavy damage on each other.
"Altaria and Skarmory collide with each other with Steel Wing and Aerial Ace!" The announcer announced. Skarmory managed to overpower Altaria and it fell to the ground, beaten.
"Altaria is unable to battle! Skarmory wins!" The referee announced.
"Wally now has two more Pokémon left to use! Which one will Wally be sending out next?" The announcer asked. Skarmory was panting from the battle with Altaria. Wally took out his Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Delcatty!" Wally called out. His Pokéball opened and his Delcatty came back out to battle. Brendan called back Skarmory since he didn't want Skarmory to overdo it. He took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"Golem! Come back out!" Brendan called out. His Golem came out to battle against Delcatty.
"Golem comes back out! Let's see if Golem can keep going after taking down Roserade!" The announcer announced.
"Golem! Use Rock Tomb!" Brendan ordered. Golem unleashed Rock Tomb and the rocks come at the Prim Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Feint Attack!" Wally ordered. Delcatty narrowly avoids Rock Tomb and lands a hit with Rock Tomb.
"What a save! Delcatty escapes that Rock Tomb and lands a hit with Feint Attack!" The announcer announced.
"Golem! Mega Punch!" Brendan ordered. Golem lands a powerful hit with Mega Punch.
"Golem lands a huge hit with a Mega Punch!" The announcer announced.
"Hyper Beam!" Wally ordered. Delcatty fired a Hyper Beam right at Golem.
"Rollout!" Brendan ordered. Golem rolls into a ball and lands a hit onto Delcatty, dealing some heavy damage.
"Golem rolls right into Delcatty, dealing some heavy damage like with what happened to Roserade!" The announcer announced. Golem rolls right at Delcatty.
"Dodge it, Delcatty! Quick!" Wally ordered. Delcatty avoids Golem's Rollout just by jumping out of the way in time. "Hyper Beam!" Delcatty fired a Hyper Beam into Golem's path, sending the Megaton Pokémon flying and lands on its back.
"Golem has fallen on its back and it can't get up!" The announcer announced.
"Iron Tail!" Wally ordered. Delcatty swings its tail and landed onto Golem, dealing some heavy damage. Golem was knocked out.
"Golem is unable to battle! Delcatty wins!" The referee announced.
"Now, both Trainers are down to two Pokémon remaining! Which will Brendan be sending out next?" The announcer announced as Brendan called his Golem back and he took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"Skarmory! Come out!" Brendan called out. His Pokéball opened and his Skarmory emerged from inside, panting.
"Skarmory comes back out to battle, but it looks tenderized from that battle with Altaria, but how much longer can Skarmory keep going?" The announcer asked.
"Delcatty! Feint Attack!" Wally ordered. Delcatty dashed at Skarmory with a Feint Attack.
"Use Drill Peck!" Brendan ordered. Skarmory spins around and lands a peck, dealing some damage, canceling out Delcatty's Feint Attack.
"A miracle block with that Drill Peck!" The announcer announced.
"Drill Peck again!" Brendan ordered. Skarmory spins around again and lands another hit with Drill Peck and it results in a knockout.
"Delcatty is unable to battle! Skarmory wins!" The referee announced.
"And Delcatty makes five that Wally has lost!" The announcer announced. Wally took out his sixth and final Pokéball and he looked at it.
"I knew it'll come down to you," Wally said before he threw it. "Gallade! I choose you!" His Pokéball opened and his Gallade emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"Wally's sixth and final Pokémon is Gallade!" The announcer announced.
"I knew you were saving Gallade for last, Wally. In fact, I was hoping that you saved Gallade for last because you had Gallade since he was just a Ralts. I want to see just how much stronger Gallade has gotten since that day," Brendan said in his thoughts. He remembered how Wally was thrilled by how he successfully captured his Gallade as a Ralts, making him his very first Pokémon.
"Brendan, I owe you and the others for supporting me on the day I became a Pokémon Trainer. I've been through so much since the day I got my Gallade when he was just only a Ralts. I promise you, Brendan that I will show you what my Gallade has," Wally said in his thoughts.
"Skarmory! Use Drill Peck!" Brendan ordered. Skarmory uses Drill Peck to land a hit.
"Gallade! Use Psycho Cut!" Wally ordered. Gallade's bladed arms gave off a psychic energy and slashed at Skarmory before it got a chance to land a hit. Skarmory was knocked out.
"Skarmory is unable to battle! Gallade wins!" The referee announced.
"Gallade has landed a successful hit with that Psycho Cut! Now, Brendan is down to two Pokémon left!" The announcer announced. Brendan took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"Pinsir! You're going back out!" Brendan called out. His Pinsir emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"Brendan has sent out his Pinsir to battle against Gallade!" The announcer announced.
"Pinsir! Use Storm Throw!" Brendan ordered.
"Use Slash!" Wally ordered. Gallade swiped his blades against Pinsir and resulted in a knockout.
"Pinsir is unable to battle! Gallade wins!" The referee announced.
"Too bad for Pinsir! It never stood a chance against its opponent!" The announcer announced as Brendan took out his sixth and final Pokéball.
"Well, it looks like it comes down to this," Brendan said. He threw his Pokéball. "Sceptile! Come on out!" His Pokéball opened and his Sceptile emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"And Brendan's final Pokémon is his Sceptile! Judging by this battle had turned into, it looks like it could be mortal combat between these two powerhouses, but only one of them will be walking away a winner! Now, we will see which will it be!" The announcer announced.
"Okay, Gallade! Use Swords Dance and then, Slash!" Wally ordered. Gallade stretches his arms out and multiple light-blue swords circle around him. The swords stop and point towards Gallade, end first, before disappearing. A red aura bursts from the ground underneath him, before a lighter-colored red aura goes upwards along its body, boosting Gallade's attack power. Gallade then rushes at Sceptile with a Slash ready to hit.
"Dodge and use Dragon Claw!" Brendan ordered. Sceptile rushes at the Blade Pokémon with Dragon Claw and slashed at him.
"Sceptile lands a mean hit with that Dragon Claw!" The announcer announced.
"Use Solar Blade!" Brendan ordered. Sceptile's leaf builds up energy and slashed at Gallade.
"Use Psycho Cut!" Wally ordered.
Sceptile and Gallade clashed at each other like they were swords.
"Sceptile and Gallade has turned this match into a real sword fight!" The announcer announced. Gallade lands a Psycho Cut onto Sceptile, landing a hit. "Gallade lands Psycho Cut!"
"Use Sacred Sword!" Wally ordered. Gallade's blades began to glow light blue and rushes at the Forest Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Quick Attack!" Brendan ordered. Sceptile dodges Gallade's Sacred Sword and lands a hit with Quick Attack. "Use Dragon Claw!" Sceptile swipes his claws at Gallade, slashing him.
"Use Sacred Sword again!" Wally ordered. Gallade came at Sceptile again.
"Dodge it!" Brendan called out. Sceptile tried to dodge, but Gallade came too quick for Sceptile ro dodge.
"Gallade lands a brutal blow with that Sacred Sword!" The announcer announced.
"Use Slash!" Wally ordered. Gallade lands a Slash onto Sceptile, dealing some heavy damage.
"Another brutal hit with Slash!" The announcer announced as Sceptile fell on his back. Just before the referee could make his decision, Sceptile struggles to get back up. "Look at that, ladies and gentlemen! Sceptile is refusing to give up!" Sceptile's body began to give up a green aura.
"Look at that! Sceptile's Overgrow just kicked in!" Leaf exclaimed.
"That means Sceptile's Grass-type moves will become stronger than normal," Rei said.
"Use Solar Blade!" Brendan ordered. Sceptile began to build up energy in his leaves.
"Use Sacred Sword!" Wally ordered. Gallade began to build up energy in his blades. "As much as I enjoyed this match, Brendan, but it's going to end right here and now!"
"I feel the same way, Wally! Don't hold back!" Brendan said.
"Don't worry! I won't!" Wally said.
"Now!" Brendan and Wally shouted. Sceptile and Gallade charges at each other with their chosen attacks.
"Sceptile and Gallade are charging at one another! It looks like it'll be over sooner than we thought!" The announcer announced. They land a hit onto each other. Sceptile and Gallade do a stance after they each landed a hit. Everyone were getting anxious, waiting to see who would be standing and who will be taking the fall. Sceptile fell on his knee, but Gallade fell backwards, beaten.
"Gallade is unable to battle! Sceptile wins! The winner is Brendan from Littleroot Town!" The referee announced.
"And Brendan is the first to make it to the top eight in the quarterfinals! A huge congratulations is in order!" The announcer announced as the crowd cheered. Wally helps Gallade on his feet.
"Are you okay, Gallade?" Wally asked.
"Lade," Gallade answered with a sad voice.
"Don't be sorry, Gallade. You did your best. And so did Azumarill, Roserade, Magnezone, Altaria, and Delcatty. I'm very proud of you, my friend," Wally said. Gallade smiled. He and Gallade walked up to Brendan and Sceptile. "Congratulations on your victory, Brendan. I had a great time battling you."
"So did I, Wally. You've gotten so much stronger since you caught Gallade as a Ralts. And the way you battled today is living proof of that fact," Brendan said.
"Thanks, Brendan. That means a lot. And good luck the rest of the way," Wally said.
"Thanks," Brendan said, shaking Wally's hand.
