Episode 436: Bibarel Gnaws Best
A few days have come and gone since Wes has caught the rampaging Spiritomb. They were walking down the path, they hear a couple of voices.
"How about it? You accept my challenge?" A boy's asked.
"Sure thing! I'm game if you are!" Lea's voice said. The couple approached as they saw Lea about to have a battle as Roxas, Xion, Xipak, Celeste, and the DigiDestined were watching the battle about to battle.
"Okay, let's do this thing!" The Trainer said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Let's go, Raichu!" Her Pokéball opened and a Raichu came out to battle. Lea took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Alright, let's go, Magmar!" Lea called out. His Pokéball opened and Magmar came out to battle.
"Alright, Raichu! Use Quick Attack!" The Trainer ordered. Raichu charged right at the Spitfire Pokémon with a Quick Attack.
"Magmar! Dodge and land a Fire Punch!" Lea ordered. Magmar dodged Raichu's attack and lands a Fire Punch on the Mouse Pokémon.
"Try again, but use Wild Charge!" The Trainer ordered. Raichu came at Magmar with a Wild Charge. Raichu came pretty fast for Magmar to dodge, so the Mouse Pokémon has taken some recoil damage in the process. "Use Thunder!"
"Smokescreen!" Lea ordered. Magmar lets out a Smokescreen and masked the battle between Magmar and Raichu. The Mouse Pokémon looked around for Magmar, but the Spitfire Pokémon sneaks up behind it. "Psychic!" Magmar uses Psychic on Raichu and sends the Mouse Pokémon flying and results in a knockout. "Great job, Magmar."
"Magmar!" Magmar said.
"You okay, Raichu?" The Trainer asked.
"Rai," Raichu said.
"That was a great battle, dude," the Trainer said.
"Thanks. You're a tough Trainer yourself. Get that memorized," Lea said. His opponent took his leave as he noticed the couple. "Hey, you two." Roxas, Xion, the DigiDestined noticed them. Xipak and Celeste ran up to Pikachu and Angel.
"Hey, Sora, Kairi," Roxas greeted.
"It's great to see you," Xion said.
"Likewise," Sora said.
"Didn't expect to see you here so soon," Tai said.
"Well, we are just passing by," Sora said.
"Pika, Pika," Pikachu said.
"So, what have you been up to?" Sora asked.
Roxas and Xion has shown Sora and Kairi their Pokémon Boxes and they saw that Xion has caught a Glameow, all three Burmy forms as well as a Cherubi, a Chatot, a Finneon, a female Combee, and a West Sea Shellos. Her Marill, Flaaffy, Budew, Hopppip, Togepi, Chingling, Ralts, Sunkern, Kricketot, and Silcoon have evolved. Roxas has caught an East Sea Shellos, a Snover, and a Bronzor. Roxas's Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Taillow, Hoothoot, Lotad, Seedot, Wynaut, Riolu, and Shinx have also evolved.
"Wow, you've been busy," Kairi said.
"Well, Tai and the others did help out," Roxas said.
"Pikachu," Xipak nodded.
"It was a lot of training to go over," Davis said.
"But it was worth it," Amy said.
"Anyway, how's your training going?" Kari asked.
"Smoothly. In fact, we're heading for Solaceon Town for a Pokémon Contest," Sora said.
"Going for your fourth Ribbon, Kairi?" Sora T asked.
"Maybe. Or it could be Dawn going for her next one," Kairi said.
"Vee," Angel said.
"What about that girl Zoey?" Joe asked.
"She's not going to be in the Contest," Kairi said.
"But she's going to be watching it," Sora said.
"Chu," Pikachu said.
"But how about we hang with each other for a bi?," TK suggested.
"Sure thing. You guys are more than welcome to tag along," Sora said.
With that said, Roxas, Xion, Lea, the DigiDestined, Xipak, and Celeste have joined the couple on their way. They walked on a trail for hours, but they learned that there's a shortcut to Solaceon Town from their current location, so they thought they'd give it a try. When they went down to take the shortcut, they spotted a bridge, but it was under construction.
"Man, some shortcut," Lea said.
"I don't understand. I knew there was a bridge being built here, but I thought it would be finished by now," Izzy said.
"I guess that's why you suggested you go this way, isn't it?" Mimi asked.
"Of course I did," Izzy said.
"Hey, something is happening!" Tai said They saw it was two men and a woman on the bridge. They were having a dispute of some kind.
"What's going on?" Roxas asked. The man who appears to be the foreman steps forward, making her step back a little. Lea didn't like what he saw.
"Okay, that isn't going to do!" Lea said, running off.
"Lea, wait!" Xion called out. The entire group go after him.
"SO, what are you going to do about this? You know there's no time left!" The foreman said.
"Uh, I know," the woman said.
"Stop right there!" Lea shouted as he ran up. He stopped in his tracks.
"Lea, don't run off like that!" Roxas called out as he and the rest of the group caught up.
"You kids should know better than to hang around here!" The foreman said.
"Sorry, but we were about to turn around when our friends here rushed off," Sora said.
"We rushed in because this guy was putting her in danger!" Lea argued.
"I put her in?" The foreman growled.
"Yeah, I saw you take one step closer to her, intimidating her!" Lea said.
"You're making a mistake. The foreman, the mayor and I were simply in the middle of a discussion about the constructions of the bridge, and that's that," the woman said. Lea was dumbfounded.
"You mean, no one was getting hurt?" Lea asked.
"I guess Lea's fire got a little too hot," Yolei said.
"At least he didn't overheat," Cody said.
"You see, the foreman is the supervisor for this important project"' the mayor explained.
"Again, sorry about that," Sora apologized.
"Yeah, sorry. I just jumped to conclusions on that," Lea apologized. Sora, Kairi, Roxas, Xion, and the DigiDestined, couldn't blame him since anyone could have thought what he did.
"Whether or not these ridiculous insrusions continue, this bridge will be completed in three days' time, even if you and my Pokémon collapse from exhaustion," the foreman said.
"You know, the bridge grand opening is way past the planning stage, so we're depending on you to finish up by then," the mayor said.
"Yes, sir," the woman replied.
"Remember, I've got my reputation as a foreman to think about!" The foreman said. He and the mayor took their leave. The group didn't like that guy's attitude one little bit.
"Is it me or does he seem that he's only thinking of himself?" Sora asked.
"I'm picking up on that, too," Kairi said.
"So am I," Roxas said.
"Ditto," Xion said.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"Vee," Eevee said.
"Chu," Xipak said.
"Vee," Celeste said. The woman sighed as the group went up to her.
"Sorry for what happened," Sora apolgized.
"Don't apologize. It was bound to happen one way or the other," the woman said. "Anyway, my name's Isis."
"Nice to meet you, Isis. I'm Sora, and this is my partner Pikachu," Sora introduced.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"My name's Kairi, and this little Eevee is Angel," Kairi introduced.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"I'm Roxas, and this is Xipak," Roxas said.
"Pika, Pika," Xipak said.
"My name's Xion, and this is Celeste," Xion introduced.
"Eevee," Celeste said.
"The name's Lea."
"My name's Tai."
"I'm Kari."
"Davis is my name."
"I'm Matt."
"My name's TK."
"My name's also Sora."
"I'm Izzy."
"My name's Mimi."
"I'm Joe."
"My name's Yolei."
"My name's Ken."
"I'm Cody."
"My name's Amy."
"My name's Meiko, and this is Little Mei," Meiko said.
"Meowth," Little Mei said.
"And to make it up, we would like to lend a hand," Lea offered.
"Thanks," Isis said. She led the group to the worksight to meet the rest of the crew. "To travel from this village to the next town, we've always had to take a inconvenient mountain pass. And that's why they decided to construct this bridge. Originally, they hired a well-known master stonecutter to do the work. But the poor man threw out his back. The foreman then took over the construction project. And the very first thing he did was to put me in charge of every last bit of stonecutting. But work has ground to a complete halt." They all looked at the Machoke and Machamp just laying around. "And our finish deadline is just three days away."
"Why isn't your crew working at all?" Roxas asked.
"You see," Isis started. Kairi looked at the Machoke and the Machamp and she gets an idea.
"Maybe they're just hungry," Kairi guessed. "And I have just the thing." Kairi took out some bowls of Pokémon food and fed it to them. The Machoke and Machamp started to eat the Pokémon food provided to them and they loved it.
"Wow, that's amazing," Isis said.
"Kairi has the magic touch," Sora said.
"It was something I whipped up. That batch is what I made for Fighting-type Pokémon. I always make my own and never use any of that store bought stuff," Kairi said.
"That's great, except these Pokémon aren't the real problem," Isis said.
"Huh?" Kairi asked in confusion.
"It's the Pokémon that cuts the stone in the stone quarry. It won't do the work, so we don't have any stone," Isis said.
"You could have said that," Meiko said.
"Just what kind of Pokémon are you talking about?" Amy asked.
"How about you show us instead?" Izzy suggested.
"Okay. It's right this way," Isis said, leading the group to the Pokémon she was just telling them about. She led them into the stone quarry and points to a Bibarel wearing a bandana. "Our stones are cut by the Pokémon up on that ledge." The Bibarel just yawns.
"A Bibarel," Sora said.
"She's just laying there," Kairi pointed out.
"Let's see," Lea said, taking out his Rotom Phone and scanned her.
Bibarel, the Beaver Pokémon
The evolved form of Bidoof
Type: Normal/Water
Bibarel builds a dam on rivers to make a nest. It's well-known as a hard worker.
"Not exactly accurate on that description," Lea said, putting his Rotom Phone away.
"It's kinda odd to see a Bibarel being lazy. Bibarel are supposed to be hard workers like Lea's Rotom Phone says," Ken pointed out.
"I agree. I never heard of a lazy Bibarel," Izzy said.
"Well, as my grandpa said to me when I was little, live long enough and you'll see everything," Amy said.
"Maybe I can feed her some Pokémon food that'll be good for a Water-type and a Normal-type," Kairi said, getting started on it.
"You sure about that, Kairi?" Xion asked.
"Only one way to find out, right?" Kairi asked.
"She's right. It might be lack of nutrition," Joe said.
"Kairi's just the girl for the job. There isn't a Pokémon she cannot win over," Mimi said. Sora wasn't going to count the Jigglypuff that just snuffed Kairi's cooking.
Once Kairi was finished, she ran up with the bowl of Pokémon food ready for the Beaver Pokémon. Smelling the food, Bibarel opened her eyes and saw the food.
"Here, Bibarel. It's a special batch for you to enjoy," Kairi said. Bibarel happily exclaimed and happily ate the food that was presented to her.
"It's working! Bibarel's eating it!" Sora T said.
"See, I told you," Mimi said.
"Now, Bibarel's gotta cut the stone," Kari said. Once Bibarel has finished eating, the Beaver Pokémon fell back to sleep.
"What? What's up with that?" Kairi asked.
"So much for that plan," TK said.
"Somehow I pictured that completely different," Matt said.
"We all did," Izzy said.
"Are you sure that Bibarel is a first-class stonecutter?" Sora asked.
"Well, I'm the one who taught Bibarel how to vut stone at the Pokémon Training Center," Isis explained.
"Wait, you mean, you're a Pokémon Breeder?" Sora asked, surprised.
"Yes," Isis answered. "But it's not something I'm proud of, and I can't even motivate my own workers."
"Has she always been like this?" Kairi asked.
"No, not always, not at first," Isis said. "Bibarel got it done and she used to always listen to me, no matter how hard the work was or how much stone Bibarel had cut. So Bibarel and the expert stonecutter left the training center to begin their work. Then, after a while, I went to see how they were doing. And by the time I did, Bibarel had become a stonecutting expert exactly like her teacher. From that moment on, Bibarel never took a day off from work until her teacher stopped coming here to visit. And that's when Bibarel lost all of her drive." Kairi looked down at the ground.
"I think Bibarel misses her teacher," Kairi said.
"I guess that could be it," Lea said.
"Bibarel! There are only three days left until the bridge opens up! Won't you please cut the stones?" Isis asked. Bibarel just dismissed her. "Bibarel."
"I think we can help you with the stonecutting," Cody offered.
"He's right. It'll make the work go faster," TK said.
"I appreciate that you want to help, but it's impossible to cut them in the right way," Isis said.
"You only have three days left to get it done," Mimi said.
"So, we wanna help you anyway we can," Kari said.
"I think we should all put our heads together and have the bridge finished and do it right," Sora said.
"I had a feeling you would say that, Sora," Lea said.
"Let's get started," Roxas said.
"Yeah!" Everyone all said.
With that said, they gotten started. Sora has let out his Pokémon as Kairi has let out her Growlithe as Roxas has let out his Quilava, Combusken, and Monferno as Xion has let out her Sunflora. Lea and the DigiDestined have let their Pokémon out to assist. Mimi has caught a Hisuian Lilligant at some point as Matt has caught a Hisuian Growlithe. Bibarel sees what's going on.
"Okay, guys! Get to work on those stones!" Sora and Kairi both ordered.
"Let's start by heating the stones first!" Izzy said.
"Turn up the heat, you guys!" Lea said. The Fire-types all complied with Kairi as they started to heat up the stones with their fire attacks.
"Now, let's cool them down!" Izzy said. The Water-types complied by using their Water-type attacks on the stone to cool down the water. Isis was amazed by how well they worked. Bibarel didn't share her enthusiasm.
"Okay, Grass-types, use Razor Leaf!" Izzy said. The Grass-types fired Razor Leaf on the stones, breaking them down.
"Okay, go!" Sora called out. All of the clawed Pokémon went for the stones and slashed them into perfect squares.
"I'm impressed," Isis could only say. She measured the stones and turned around with a disappointed look. "I'm afraid this is no good." The whole group was shocked. "See, all of these blocks have to be exactly the right dimensions to make up the bridge's arch."
"When you said it was impossible, you weren't kidding," Sora said.
"No joke," Roxas said.
"We'll have to try again," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said. Bibarel stood up.
"Bibarel!" Bibarel called out.
"Bibarel?" Isis ased.
"So, you ready to get to work?" Sora asked.
"Bibarel!" Bibarel angrily said.
"I don't think so. I think Bibarel is angry that you came around and stirred things up," Isis said.
"What do you mean? We were only helping," Lea said. They all saw the angry look on Bibarel's face.
"I am not liking the look on Bibarel's face," Kari's said.
"Machoke!"
"Machamp!"
"What was that?" Sora asked.
They got their answer when they saw some Unversed in the construction site. The Unversed consisted of Floods, Scrappers, Bruisers, Axe Flappers, Thornbites, Shoegazers, and some new Unversed.
These Unversed are green alligator-like creatures, but they have dragon wings and horns. The Unversed emblem is located on the bellies. These Unversed shall be known as the Gator Dragons.
"Unversed!" Kairi exclaimed.
"Not now!" Roxas groaned.
"We're gonna have to get rid of these guys," Lea said, summoning his Eternal Flames and came right at the Unversed and used his chakrams to strike down a Bruiser and a Scrapper. With that said, Sora and Kairi have tapped into their Valor and Love forms as Roxas and Xion summoned their Keyblades. Sora has summoned two Keyblades in his hands.
One is gray with black at the end of the blade. NINTENDO is engraved on the Keyblade. The guard is black and the hilt is dark gray. The token is the NES controller. This Keyblade shall be known as Nintendo Power.
The other Keyblade is made up of different Tetris pieces. The I-Block serves as the blade and the T-Block serves as the teeth. The hand guard is made from the O-Block and the rain guard is made up of the S-Block. The token is the L-Block. This Keyblade shall be known as the Tetris Block.
Kairi has summoned the Goddess of Light and a new Keyblade. This Keyblade follows Cascade's water theme by being reminiscent of cresting waves, both along the shaft and at the teeth. Also, Cascade's Wayfinder appears at the top of the shaft within a black circle, surrounded by a cresting wave. The hilt has two heart-shaped openings, and the Keychain is also Cascade's Wayfinder. The handle and chain are both an ivory color. This Keyblade is the Brightcrest.
Isis was at awe with what she saw. Bibarel was also at awe.
"What do they think they're doing?" Isis asked.
"Taking care of those creatures, that's what," Izzy said.
"You shouldn't worry. They've got this in the bag," Davis said.
They started to engage the Unversed, taking every one of them that crossed their path. Roxas casts a fire spell as Sora swings his two Keyblades, unleashing a red flash as Kairi summoned a tornado of flower petals and it pulled in some of the Unversed. Xion then casts a blizzard spell, followed by a strike as Lea's chakrams emits flames. Pikachu, Angel, Xipak, and Celeste uses their Pokémon attacks to fight the Unversed, destroying them. The Gator Dragons spewed some fire right at them, but Sora has made very quick work of the Gator Dragons as Kairi came to her boyfriend's aid and struck down two of them. A Scrapper came behind Sora as a Gator Dragon came behind Kairi.
"Kairi, look out!" Sora called out.
"Watch your back, Sora!" Kairi said.
They came for the Unversed in front of them and struck them down. They fought off the Unversed right until the last of them were wiped out. By that time, Sora and Kairi have reverted back to normal.
"That takes care of those jerks," Lea said.
"Amazing," Isis could only say. She was amazed by how five individuals have taken down a horde of monsters like it wasn't a problem.
"That was awesome. I am never gonna get over how you brought down those Unversed," Amy said.
"Well, it is a regular thing with them," Sora T reminded her.
Before Isis could ask what she just witnessed, the foreman came driving in a giant digger much to everyone's dismay.
"Now what?" Lea asked.
"First Unversed, and now, this guy?" TK asked.
"Better him than Unversed, little bro," Matt said.
"You just can't be trusted to get the job done, can you? I'll just have to to those stones cut and finish that bridge all by myself!" The foreman said, holding a Pokéball.
"Sir, but wait!" Isis pleaded as he threw it and unleashes a Rhydon.
"Okay, Rhydon. Use your Horn Drill to cut that stone!" The foreman ordered. Rhydon obeyed and went to get it done.
"But sir, without Bibarel's help, Rhydon will never get it cut to the right size," Isis pleaded.
"Listen to her. She's right," Sora said.
"Shut up!" The foreman barked. "Rhydon, go on!" Rhydon drills into the wall. Bibarel rams int the drill Pokémon. That angered Rhydon and it smacked her with his tail.
"Bibarel!" Isis gasped. Rhydon was about to step on Bibarel when Bibarel gave it a bite on its foot. Rhydon was pained by the bite. The foreman didn't like Bibarel's attitude one bit.
"Hey you, out of the way!" The foreman demanded. Bibarel refused. He took out three more Pokéballs. "I guess you wanna fight! Aggron, Magmar, Metang!" He threw them all as Aggron, Magmar, and Metang all came out to battle. They all surrounded the beaver Pokémon. She stood her ground and refused to move. "Now, Aggron, use Iron Head!" Aggron charged right at Bibarel with Iron Head. Bibarel dodges just by jumping out of the way and rolls in the air. "Metang! Metal Claw!" Metang comes at Bibarel with a Metal Claw attack. Bibarel does the same thing as she did Aggron. "Magmar! Use Flamethrower!" Magmar fires Flamethrower to burn the beaver Pokémon into a crisp. Bibarel got hit by the attack and goes flying.
"Bibarel!" Isis gasped.
"What are you doing?!" Xion exclaimed.
"Getting back to work," the foreman said. Bibarel stood back up and she still refused to move. He was getting pissed off. "Stubborn, are you? Bibarel, get out there now!" Magmar, Aggron, Rhydon and Metang all charge right towards Bibarel and ready to attack. Bibarel stood her ground as Isis figured it all out.
"Bibarel's doing all this just to protect the stone quarry," Isis said.
"Time to even up the playing field! Lucario! Bullet Punch!" Sora ordered. Sora's Lucario complied with Sora and lands a Bullet Punch onto the Drill Pokémon. Aggron, Metang, and Magmar surround the Aura Pokémon. They all came right for him, but Lucario has jumped in the air. "Aura Sphere!" Lucario has created a powerful Aura Sphere and threw it to the ground, hitting the surrounding Pokémon.
"Alright, you punk, now you've gone and pissed me off! I'm going to finish that confounded bridge right now, if it's the last thing I do!" He drove the giant digger to get the job done. Just then, a stone is hurled at the giant digger, knocking it over. He came out in a rage. "WHO THREW THAT?!"
"I threw that," an elderly man spoke. Everyone turned to see it was the expert stonecutter, riding on his Machamp's shoulders.
"Bi!" Bibarel beamed.
"He's come back!" Isis said.
The both of them were delighted to see him again.
"What the?!" The foreman growled. Machamp jumped off as as Bibarel went up to him with a smile. The stonecutter smiled back at the Beaver Pokémon.
"Bibarel, it's wonderful to see you again," the stonecutter said. Isis and the rest of the group ran up to him.
"So does this mean your back is totally healed?" Isis asked.
"The truth is, I never hurt my back in the first place," the stonecutter admitted. Everyone was all stunned to hear the truth come out of his mouth. He holds up a rolled-up blueprint. This blueprint was the only thing tht needed to be healed." The foreman was stunned, but he refused to accept it.
"That's a lie! My blueprints are always perfect!" The foreman roared. He stonecutter roars at him and he is intimidated by his yell.
"Your blueprints calls for less stones than necessary. So I built a model just to make sure," the stonecutter said. He shows them a model of the bridge with a support structure.
"Why, you sneaky-" the foreman threatened.
"Now, watch this," the stonecutter said as he lifted support structure and the model falls to pieces.
"It fell apart," Davis said. The foreman growled.
"So, the real one would have collapsed, too," Tai said. The foreman growled.
"If this bridge were built according to this blueprint, it wouldn't be able to support its own weight and would indeed collapse into a heap. A complete disaster!" the stonecutter stated, ripping the blueprint in half.
"How could you? Why did you do this?" Isis asked.
"Because we never would have never finished in time, and my reputation would have been ruined, that's why!' The foreman said.
"So, that's it?" Isis asked, disgusted.
"That's the problem with guys like you. Always thinking about número uno. If that's what you cared about, then you have you no business working as a foreman of anything!" Sora stated.
"He's right. You'll never find work as a foreman for anything! Never again!" Isis sated.
"You're not fit to work alongside stonecutters! Now get off this site or else!" The stonecutter demanded. All of the Pokémon stood before him and glared right at him.
"If I were you, I'd start running right now," Lea said, pointing his fingers and shoots out fireballs from them. That scared off the former foreman. Rhydon, Aggron, Metang, and Magmar all followed him.
"Go and build yourself a Ferris wheel, I don't care!" The former foreman exclaimed.
"And don't come back!" Xion shouted after him. Isis gasps in realization.
"But without a blueprint, we'll never get it done in time!" Isis pointed out. "What do we do?" The stonecutter smiled and took a new blueprint out.
"I just happned to adjust the blurprint before I came here today," the stonecutter said, taking it out. He opens it up and shows it to everyone. "Do exactly what it says, and everything will be fine."
"Then we'd better get started right away," Isis said.
"And we'll give you a hand," Sora said.
So, everyone started to pull his or her own weight, human and Pokémon. They all worked hard to build the bridge.
Three days later, the bridge was finally finished as the village has around as it was now the grand opening of the newly constructed bridge.
"What a beauty," Sora said.
"I'll say," Roxas said.
"All of our hard work has paid off," Xion said.
"And it was because of that, it was done on time," Kairi said.
"You've done a wonderful job, Isis," the stonecutter praised.
"Well, I was certainly given a lot of help, sir. Although, it's strange for a Pokémon breeder not to know how Bibarel was feeling. it's kind of embarrassing," Isis said.
"Well, if you can work together with your Pokémon the way you just did, then I can guarantee you, you'll make an excellent Pokémon Breeder before you know," the stonecutter said.
"He's right. Just keep at it and you'll get there," Sora said.
"And thanks to all you fine folks for your hard work," the stonecutter said. He handed out bandanas for each of them.
"Thanks a lot," Sora said.
"Pika, Pika," Pikachu said.
"This will work great when I'm in a contest," Kairi said.
"Vee," Angel said.
"Thank you all for what you've done. I have almost given up hope and you brought it back again. Thank you very much," Isis said.
"You don't need to thank us. We were happy to help out," Sora said.
Everything worked out well as a bridge has gotten finished in time and they are once again on the road for Solaceon Town. Roxas, Xion, Lea, and the DigiDestined have gone their own way for a while, still planning to meet them in Veilstone City and wished Kairi and Dawn luck for the upcoming Pokémon Contest.
